You have to press the fishing-ability icon when you want to fish. Press 'P', then 'General' and it should be there somewhere.

Ah fishing...does anyone actually level that?

My fishing stayed at level 1 all through to level 60. Then one day, I was incredibly bored. So I got it up to level 54.

No class really needs it except hunters (pet foods).

Eh.. yes and no.

Before BC, I have a friend who swore by fishing as a means of farming - you get greens from Chests, from fishing in debris, and you make a reasonable amount from selling some of the fish (can't remember which ones but some are used in Alchemy, right?).

Anyways if you fish, you can cook, and in the higher levels there is some very good cookable food available.

Edit: RebelAssassin, you're gonna enjoy your hunter - my second character was a hunter and I had alot of fun with it.

Your first pet will probably be something easyish to get around Dun Morogh (which is ok, there are some decent beasts there), but the second one is where you hit your renaissance.

If I was you I'd go for something like Bjarn or even Naraxis if you can wait til then.

It's so smegging unbelievably boring though. We're talking RuneScape boring.

Yeah i've never tried to fish.

The most I have trade skilled is getting my First Aid up (necisary) and leveling up Engineering/Mining. :)

played about with fishing, got it upto 75 in a few hours. and i caught a 10lb mud snapper which i can hold in my shield slot 8-)

lol i'll only fish if i see debris so i can get some chests and food for my pet on my hunter.

but its easier and less tike consuming to just buy bread at the bread vendor at xroads

First aid is awesome though :P

Man, you horde players are a hoot! I was grinding Jadefire to get felcloth for 300 tailoring, when this level 51 orc warrior comes up to me and starts taunting me and doing chicken gestures. You know, typical horde. So I flag pvp and wait for him to do something. Nope, just follows me around clicking. This went on for like 5 minutes when wabam, im frozen and a 70 UD mage starts nuking me. 51 warrior flags, i dot him, send fg to mage, dot dot, spam incinerate and theyre both down!

I never realized mages were that squishy. This happened 3 times before more lowbie 50-60 horde players start showin up and im finally chased out, but man that was fun! Makes me wish my friends rolled a pvp server :(

You're a hunter right? You're stuck with leather until level 40, then you can wear mail.

What is happening in that?!

That was before Burning Crusade came out, highlord Kruul would attack all kind of towns at random.

Yeah, that thing sucked when you were a level 20 something exploring IF for the first time :(

Oh, and when you get acquainted with the game and it's terminology a bit more, YouTube: "Leroy Jenkins"

What's the best way to level up one's weapon skill? I have a 31 pally now and recently received a pretty good 2H mace. I got up to 141/155 (my polearm was at 152 which was what I was using) and decided to level up the rest doing the "Hammer May Fall" .. except I could barely hit the Ogres. I'm struggling to get past 145 now. Any ideas?

Generaly I find find a few things helpful:

- Go to a low level area and just run around killing.

- Find a mob that hits for low but has a lot of armor and just fight it. Since you are a paladin this is helpful because you can heal.

- Run a lowbie instance. At your level you could try and run through RFC to level up your skill.

Of course I don't have this problem on my rogue. Fast weapons + dual wield + instant attacks = incredibly fast leveling lol.

What Nadril said. Plus, you're a pally so you have seal of the crusader which increases attack speed. You should be using that if you aren't already. If you want, you can go buy a low level 2h mace with the fastest speed you can find for cheap and level up using that on mobs lower than you but not too low. Enough that you get a good amount of hits in before changing mobs.

And the bible is the big book of lies, call me a racist if you must.

Good ideas, both of you - thanks! What weapons should I go for around level 32? I figure nothing and then just grab Sword of Omen + Aegis of the Scarlet Commander once I complete SM Cath. I do not want to go prot/aoe spec though - I want to quest normally, not grind. So should I work on getting a better 2H then rather than a 1H + shield?
