Chocobodude0
I get called a choob everyday it seems....what the hell is a choob!? Yes please someone clear this up? Lol. I'm pretty sure it's yet another (brings the count to about infinity now) form of the word "noob". Choob = Chubby noob It seems you're being insulted for your nubbyness (Or lack there of :?: )and your weight as well (Which is strange, because chances are they don't even know your physical body -.- ...) bloody_scife
The phrase "lmao" baffled me for about a year. I thought it was a form of calling someone a lame-o in E-language. Me too. I also thought ROFL had something to do with waffles for like two years. It also took my a while to figure out pl0x...I thought it was some kind of desiese (not sure if I spelled that one right). It went from Please, To pleez, to plz, to plx, to pl0x. Why is that 0 in there for? -.- Some other ones that baffled me were atm, ftw, urw, and countless others. The other day I saw someone say "Selliing lobbsiez for 250 geeps!!!11!" I'm not making that up,either . 7,436th to 99 fishing on July 13, 2008 [hide=Quotes that I lol'd at]the day the fantastic four come into runescape, i will eat my socks. what kind of topic is this. ihaven't read it yetbut i now it must be stupid.[/hide]

NickCini
"selling lobbies!!!!" - is it really much harder to just type out "lobster" if your If i type "Lobster" i have to go from the letters "B to S to T to E then R" (after lob) "Lobbie" just involves a double tap of the b (Much faster) and the I and E That's what i figure anyway. And if you do all you can, that's all you can ever do. - Warren Rudman But men are men; the best sometimes forget. - William Shakespeare

Panix
Dh for Dharok has to be one of the worst. Abby whips for abyssal whips is pretty bad as well. Most text messaging lingo such as 'wut' and '4' is pretty pathetic too. I type everything out even on my cellphone and these kids can't type one more character to make 'what.' It's kinda sad if you ask me. Personally, I'd rather spell everything out so I don't look like an illiterate or a 12 year old. In game and irl :P I happen to be twelve. People have to stereotype twelve-year-olds, don't they? >> A stereotype is always generally speaking. Which means there are always exceptions. Don't get offended by it, deal with it. You know just as me that we don't mean people like you. But well, other people. What Ltje said. If you can type like you atleast tried in school, then I respect what you have to say. I was actually surprised to see a twelve-year-old type as well as you did. I'm sorry. In the nine or ten years I've been on the Internet, my experience has been that younger users (myself included at one point in time) find it cool to type like a kid with Down Syndrome. I'm kinda more lenient on people who are outside the US since English is usually their second language (or third or fourth) language. Although I've seen many people in such a situation who type better than people from the US. Also, for the longest, I thought Runescape was full of racist because I got several private messages from people who would type 'wp.' After a while, I realized they meant 'wrong person' and not 'white power.' #-o And for the record, I believe that even with a cellphone, shorthand isn't necessary unless your phone has a low limit on the number of characters per message. Word completion is the key. My boss use to hand me his phone when he had to send a text message because he was so slow. Although, I don't really know if that's something I should be bragging about. Personally, I find Britain's version of English on par with some of the shorthand and abbreviations I hear on the Internet sometimes. I really wonder sometimes if we both share the same language. I believe that if you want to be taken seriously, proper spelling and grammar goes a long way. One of my best friends online now that I talk to is a older fella with kids who play as well. One of the main reasons I enjoy talking to him (besides the fact that he has been incredibly nice to me and I can talk to him about anything from what I'm doing to my drug habit and anything in between) is the fact that he types well. Finally, how hard is it to use a damn dictionary? I've got dictionary.com added a search engine on Firefox and I used it several times on this post to spell things I wasn't sure of. Hell, Firefox 2.0 has underlined several things already for me and I fixed it everything with a red line under. I hate 'plz' too. Sorry for the long post. I just got home from work, got some food in my belly and I'm working on getting my itch now. Gerthddyn
I have to post this: last night I was in a bank fletching, when a guy said "I need help, can somebody tell me how to make a pot?". I'm so used to people yelling "Buying prayer pots! Selling str pots!" and so forth, so I began explaining to him how he should go about making a potion. It took a while for me to understand that he wanted to know how to make a pot, with clay, and not a potion. #-o Thanks to Star for the sig! | Click here or on the sig for my tewtally cool blog! RoswellCrash
I think the lingo is a good thing humans have a way of surviving in any situation and making things simpler and faster not everyone is fast at typing or a super speller not even adults and lingo is very useful and quite clever really, the art isn't knowing all the lingo but being able to understand what people mean, which is a good life skill. As for typing 4 instead of for on your phone its not lazy it cleaver, text messages used to have a silly character limit that is now greatly increased but it was a way of fitting your message into the limit, how anyone can call this stupid is beyond me, shortening words to get more information into a sentence is cleaver surely you can see that. - Twitter | RuneScape FB Group | My PC

I like to tell people that they are acting like a 12-year-old. Fun. You should try it sometime. I personally can't stand it when people randomly abbrieviate words that don't need to be abbrieviated. Also, RS won't let you capitalize "I". It's always just "i", and I can't stand it! ~~Let The Dragon ride again, on the winds of time~~I've always felt as if I'm the only person who can understand the concept of sarcasm on the internet. keithkannon
m8 is an abbreviation of the very Australian term "mate", which can be used in reference to your dearest friend, someone you just meet or anywhere in between. It is the equivalent to the American buddy (if that term is still in use). I started using this contraction about a year ago when i started playing... could i be a trendsetter... hmmmm, is destroying the english language something to be proud of? Mate is a British word.
