  1. So I herd u liek mudskipz? Well without knowing what pictures you're talking about it's difficult to give you a sure answer, although Mudskipper Point is probably the closest we can get without anything to go with. It's the only area that can be angled to look like a small "desert island". Crandor and Karamja have other ground textures apart sandy ones, and you can fix the camera angle to make them look like a smaller island.
  2. I'd really rather just donate directly for a charity instead of buying a book I never cared for buying anyway. And no offence to Mr Gower if he should happen to read this but I never found adding a signature to anything would make me more likely to buy it. As for the calendar, having "never before seen" concept art isn't something that will make me fall off my chair, it's not like I ever gave the pictures on my calendars a second look. Personally I'd love to see Jagex contributing to a kind charity like a "Help a Noob Foundation" where the aim is to educate the morons of online games to become civil people who are neither rude no ignorant. Alas, that would be like trying to take pee out of a pool... With your hands!!
  3. Yes, it is indeed being smart when you succeed in manipulating others and mislead them so you can profit from their loss (which you caused). But that kind of "smart" is still considered item scamming. I think he meant it to be two buddies playing horsie (horsing around? :P ) but it doesn't seem to be drawn too well. Yeah, it might be unintentional but it looks like they're doing something else. Merchanting might have been made ridiculously easy by the Grand Exchange but you still can be scammed by people like that, this is known as price manipulation. What I suggest is only take advice from a really good friend who merchants, or do all the research yourself by monitoring the GE Database (it feels like you're watching the stock market).
  4. Wrong, that hasn't been the case ever since Wilderness PvP was taken out last year. PK drops on PvP worlds are game generated. Although Jagex states that you can get one or two drops from your opponent if they are skulled and the fight was tough (you both took a lot of damage and both had to use a lot of food) you will rarely, if ever, get anything better than some food, an amulet or potion, or a piece of weaponry/armour/ammunition which wouldn't be worth as much as the rest of their gear. If you want to make a decent profit from PKing (or if you just want to get your opponent's drops so you know what you're getting) your only option is Bounty Hunter. Also bear in mind one you hit level 55, your only chance to survive in the medium crater is to stay out of it until you are lvl 90+. Your best bet at the moment is to be a pure, train Ranged and Magic very high and practice tactics. One last thing: Don't go to extreme lengths to get your opponents skulled, it does nothing to improve what loot you get.
  5. I laugh at people who think they're cooler than others because they play a more popular computer game. WoW is a great game and all, just not as great as everyone claims it to be. Before any WoW players flame me for being a "RS fanboi" I played WoW. I didn't find anything new, the gameplay was the same as Diablo, and even the lore from the Warcraft series wasn't anything we didn't already know. It's just overpraised because of Blizzard's history. Many people I know wouldn't even know what an MMORPG is because it's not something they would care about anyway. If you're in danger of being mercilessly harassed by your fellow students because they think their online game is better then your school must be Nerd Central. Omg your friends irl call you by your RSN?
  6. If you plan to mage it I don't recommend using any spell below Fire Strike (13 Magic) but even then it would be a long shot. I advise you to get 20 Attack (for Mithril) and the same for Strength. This is just to be on the safe side so you don't die and loose anything you might need. Just remember to take a full inventory of food (preferably Salmon+) and above all don't forget the Wooden Stake and the hammer.
  7. Goody, another Grandmaster Quest Theory topic! Well I can't say I believe any of these "theories" because they don't have much evidence to support them. All hail the Nation of Speculation! It's not too long until it's released, let's just wait until then and see. ;) Although your post was a nice read, gave me a fun 5 minute break from RCing. :)
  8. You may have something there. This community used to be much friendlier when I first joined, and that's what kept me around. Nowadays people are more likely to bash a new user if their join date wasn't too long ago. It doesn't seem to matter if their posts are brilliant, with valuable information or smart insight. If you joined recently or have a very low post count then you are wrong, simple as that. And that's exactly the kind of attitude that is making some users turn away. I try to help others as much as I can in Help & Advice. But most people there only bother to answer easy questions, often doing nothing more than repeating the same thing a hundred times. I'm always seeing topics with 2+ pages of people just filling up space whereas another topic would be left empty for hours or even days just because it's not a question that can be answered in a line or two. It's like people don't like to be asked something that's not general knowledge. All forum users who have been around for years and have thousands of posts pretty much know each other. They seem to be grouping into "factions" whereas they agree with their allies and attack those they don't like, who's right or wrong seems to be irrelevant sometimes. But hey, no community is perfect. For the most part everyone tries to be nice to others, and all that bad stuff doesn't happen as often as some would think. (apart for a few idiots who never shut up)
  9. Indeed, they said they only count business weeks. The first two days of the month are Saturday and Sunday and therefore do not count. I think it's Zemouragel, looks more like him than Lucien. Hmmm... So the Staff of Armadyl has fallen into the hands of the Mahjarrat. :ohnoes:
  10. If you're just role-playing (since this is an MMORPG) then there's nothing wrong with having a pretend wedding for lols and giggles. Just don't take it seriously and behave as if you're actually married (e.g getting jealous irl if your "spouse" talks to another player). If by married you mean is there a game feature that "bounds" two players together and marks them as married as in other MMOs, then no there isn't. Even if you have a pretend wedding you gain no in-game benefits from it. Oh btw, just because I said it may be okay in certain cases doesn't mean I have any intention of doing anything of the sort.
  11. I believe I've had that happen to me once, alched some stuff and when I logged out/logged back in I found that I had half a dozen more Nature Runes returned to me. Knowing there is going to be a rollback would be epic if you could time it just right. You can run around doing stuff you'd never dream of doing and not have to pay for it later because it would have never happened.
  12. Although I already posted on Page 1 of this topic I came to check it out thinking it was a new topic since the title has been changed. As long as I'm here I might as well add something: To all those members who say it's sad that F2Pers aren't willing to pay for membership, who are you to tell people what to do with their money? If Jagex wants to give freeplay the occasional bread crumb I don't think there's anything you can do about it.
  13. F2P, where all members come from! ;) How long do you plan to keep it 250 before switching it back to 200? It's nice to see the list as 250, it's a nicer number than 200 if you ask me.
  14. Congratulations! You just got a better parking spot and were relocated to a nice corner office! Oh, and who could forget the 10% discount at Tipmart? P.S: Is it just me or are promotion congratulatory posts made by admins all the same? They may be using auto-messages or just copy/pasting? :P
  15. I always read the Tip.It Times! I wait eagerly for each new publication and always log out of RS so I can take my time reading it. Most of the Times I've read have been excellent, with less than a handful not meeting the usual standards. (which isn't bad at all considering I've been reading them ever since the feature was added) I not to bash anyone, and only do so if they're asking for it. But I've never bashed a Tip.It Times author just because I didn't think the article wasn't as good as usual. Authors are doing nothing more than sharing their thoughts and theories with us, and supplying us with the information they know. Whenever I find myself disagreeing with a Tip.It Times author, I post saying why and provide my own ideas. Everyone should keep in mind that a great deal of effort is required to write each article so they should refrain from attacking the author just because they think he or she is wrong. Not everyone shares your opinions after all.
  16. For F2P I recommend using Willow logs all the way. It's decent FM xp and the cost is very reasonable.
  17. You're associating us with noobs? Thank you very much, you really know how to make people more likely to agree with you. Basically people that power-level just for a cape are not considered to have done anything to deserve to be shown respect for their "effort". How many tens of thousands of players have 99 capes in Firemaking/Cooking/Fletching? Their numbers are constantly increasing, thus devaluing the capes for those skills even further. Not to mention that they're buyable skills, and that isn't helping. You want "respect" for a 99? Go get it in a skill like Mining or Fishing. You said you were going for 99 Defence but decided to abandon it because it wasn't fast enough for you. You can't honestly expect to get the recognition you want by taking the easy way out.
  18. Interesting program, but wouldn't this be better suited in the Advertise your thing here - all posted elsewhere = removed sticky in the Off-Topic forum?
  19. I prefer trying to do quests on my own. Using a guide for every single step before you even try to do it yourself just sucks the fun out of the whole thing. And isn't that what quests are supposed to be? A fun challenge for players? I only consult a guide if I'm stuck on a particular part of the quest.
  20. This forum is only to be used for RuneScape related discussions. :) This would be better suited in The Gallery forum. Thanks for sharing anyway, gave me a chuckle. ;)
  21. I recommend playing the Great Orb Project to get tokens to buy the ess. After that keep playing Fist of Guthix until you have enough tokens for all the rc gloves you'll need. Then simply runecraft Earth runes. If you follow these guidelines, you can get to your goal RC level and it won't cost you a single gp! :)
  22. I'm assuming you're a BH pure. As soon as you hit 55 combat and get pushed into the mid-lvl crater with all those lvl 90s, the game's over. You could try PvP worlds, but those are full of runners and it's impossible to make a nice profit as a 1Def pure there. The good old days of proper pking are gone.
  23. Jagex is always sneaking in bread crumb updates with secret ways to push F2Pers into subscribing. Others, like Gnomecopters, are very direct and advertising members is their only use. I'd have to say that the best "incentive" would be to keep updating the members game, like others said. When F2Pers see a new skill/mini-game/quest released they are very likely to go for a subsciption to try the new game content out.
  24. Like that guy, Wizard Korvak? We still don't know where he went or what he did to become so insane... Maybe the truth will be uncovered in the Grandmaster quest!
  25. Why on Earth do members get so worked up when F2P get something? You aren't the ones that update F2P, Jagex is. Members pay so they get the best updates, they don't pay to keep F2P from getting updates too. And if you'll notice, most of the past F2P updates were to replace the December updates. Jagex wants to keep F2P alive because that's where their members come from. Yes, I agree F2P doesn't "deserve" anything but it's Jagex's game and they're free what they want to do with it. This is called marketing, look it up. You say if F2Pers don't like not getting updates they should either get members or quit, well if you don't like that F2P gets the occasional bread crumb then I suggest you quit too. It's not like Holiday events should count anyway, they're temporary. Unless you think all members updates would count if they were temporary too. As long as members keep getting the updates they deserve (being frequent ones and much better than those for F2P) I'm happy. Oh, and it's human nature to be greedy. If you expect F2Pers to never whine about wanting updates then thanks for the laugh.
