CountDown From 15K - COUNTDOWN FINISHED!!!!
D. V. Devnull replied to Blaze The Movie Fan's topic in Forum Games
I wish... Unluckily, this is merely a Forum Game... Not a place where posts count. 10,943 ~D. V. "Like, yeah, right..." Devnull -
Here's some questions for you... Can you call up your Registry Editor? Can you get to "Add/Remove Programs" through methods other than your Control Panel? What sites have you browsed to recently? What were the last 5 programs you installed? ~D. V. "Whatever is happening, it's really freaky..." Devnull

10,961 Can we have a new page, anyone??? :P ~Mr. "Next!" Devnull -
That is only IF the drop is going to be greater than 1 million gp... Anything less, and you have to truck yourself over there... Sorry for the disappointment. :| ~Mr. D. V. "Yeah, I know it sucks." Devnull

That skin is WAY TOO ANIMATED... It is causing 50% CPU usage on this 2.4 Ghz system I'm on... What are you trying to do? Give a 'present filled with trouble' to anyone that didn't upgrade to something that's in the last year?!?!? :o Personally, I think I'd prefer something more simple, like a Santa Hat atop the Rune Tips Logo, and some background non-animated snowflakes. Kinda like the main website. ... Sure, Snow and Christmas Lights would be nice, but those don't absolutely have to be there... : ~Mr. D. V. "Think about those with slower systems, will you?" Devnull

I see what you mean. [bleep] ... :? ... Oh well... ... Geez, I just realized. You've made my brain burn out. -.- 10,963 ~D. V. "Ddddaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmnnnn..." Devnull -
I tried monkeying with pipelining... It causes nothing but trouble with some of what I do... In example, http://www.xgenstudios.com/play/stickarena, XGenStudios.com's "Stick Arena: Ballistick"... Their flash applet apparently doesn't like out-of-sync packets. :( Noes! Now I have to change it back -.- It really helped, but stick arena overrides speed :) Thanks for the help. You're welcome. Keep in mind, though, that you can keep the other settings in place (the ones about maximum number of connections at one time) that I mentioned. They will have no negative impact, unlike the pipelining. (Proof is in the fact that I've got them in effect as I type this nifty post.) In fact, the ones about the non-pipelined multiple connections will allow Stick Arena's maps to load faster. This extends to RuneScape also, due to the nature of the content. :) ~D. V. Improving Ranged and Magic PvP for Free-To-Play
D. V. Devnull replied to Kill_Life's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
I got a better idea (and no support for this thread's ideas) ... Take away the Corrupt Dragon from Melee. :ugeek: Seriously, think about it... Melee happened to be already at the top of the food chain, hitting like 27 max in F2P... That's far more than the '18 max of Range', and the '16 max of Mage'... And now they are hitting 30+!!! Why did Jagex make them any stronger? There was simply no good reason to do so. Once again, Melee became overpowered, while Mage/Range suffered. Like as if Jagex had a Conspiracy going on... And we'd just barely gotten new stuff for Mage/Range, too. Literally, the one group that is not deserving of the stuff they have available, is Melee... :( ~Mr. D. V. Help & Advice Forum Revamp

I think a few "Pointer Stickies" would work better. There is no reason to split it up. :notalk: ~D. V. "I disagree with the thoughts of everyone who posted before me in this thread..." Devnull -
Georgelemmons, thank you anyway for testing. I appreciate it. As for this... :( You're very welcome. I am very glad that I could make your browsing much more happy. : ~D. V. "Life has many interesting things... Where you find them, you never know." Devnull

I'd been using the defaults for the beta. If you could give me the numbers (and tell me what to do with them  ), that would be awsome. (I don't know my way around Firefox that well) Before doing this, you may wish to back up your FireFox profile, just in case you get totally lost. After you're done doing that, then in your "about:config" (no quotes) ... search for "http.max" (again, no quotes) ... and use (ignoring the green dots I used for formatting) the following settings... BTW, I'll admit that there is a small chance you could bump into some built-in maximum in Windows that won't let these settings work to their full potential... That is, if what I heard about some kind of TCP/IP connection limit is true... What I do know is that these settings work better than the defaults, so I've stuck with them, and been happy. : I wish you well with the usage of them, and I look forward to hearing back on what the tests have to say. ~D. Mind Altar Glitch and Bug Abuse?
D. V. Devnull replied to sees_all1's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
Uh, dude, the "Explorer's Ring" is legal... And it is not that which I hate, seeing as I use it... :shame: It is the "not trying because you know a bug will give you an altar for free" that is the Bug Abuse... ~Mr. D. V. "Don't misread me, damnit!" Devnull -
Got a question... Was the defaults for http requesting in FireFox used? :-s I've been getting rather fast loads with the optimized settings I'm using, which allow me to load like 6 pages at once. If you want the numbers to test with, feel free to ask. I'd love to hear (as well as would probably everyone else) what you get back in results from that testing utility, while using the optimized http request settings. : ~D. V. "I blow my own socks off with this speed!" Devnull

Mind Altar Glitch and Bug Abuse?
D. V. Devnull replied to sees_all1's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
Now the question at hand - If, while knowing this information, you deliberately don't try at the mind altar, does that constitute bug abuse? Actually, yes, it does constitute Bug Abuse... Jagex needs to fix this, preferably sometime before the end of the year. ~D. V. "I hate game-breaking bugs, with a vengeance..." Devnull -
Argh, I'm still shy of 7x... 3 more levels... :( Oh well, I'll be certain to drop in on that chat every once in a while. :) ~D. V. "Figures that I'd come up short..." Devnull

I'm surprised that they didn't just simply add something to handle both crafting and/or runecrafting to the old tutorial. Would have made all the difference. Why re-design what already works? Why not just add instead? That's what crosses my mind. :-k ~Mr. D. V. "Just expand the old tutorial, geez..." Devnull

If this is true, can anyone imagine what skillers might do? Sure, there's the increased chance of loss, but the gain potential is almost off the chart. I guess I had better go exploring, and hope I don't run into any evil PK'ers who are out to kill innocent skillers. ~D. V. "Back to 'Exploration 101'..." Devnull

Mind Altar Glitch and Bug Abuse?
D. V. Devnull replied to sees_all1's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
Wait what? What has the explorer's ring got to do with this? :-s You're behind the ball game, aren't you? I got confused earlier on, and thought they were saying something about that. Anywho, I just simply dropped it, since it wasn't part of the discussion. ;) ~D. V. "Argh... totally misinterpreted..." Devnull -
Okay, I take back the thought on it being associated with Adobe Reader then. #-o ... Although, I wonder if someone is trying to exploit a Windows bug/hole... Still, it would be an idea to run those security scans, as you can't be sure it's clean without checking... :-k ~D. V. "Disturbing, indeed..." Devnull

*groan* ... We're not trying to make hawkxs change OSes! ... Please, let's try to fix this person's Win2K OS! ;) Not true. The video card is what renders/displays everything that a person sees. Without it, you have nothing in the PC to send the video image from RAM/CPU to the monitor. I asked about it because I was trying to learn if there might be any problems with 2D/3D. (Was never trying to pull RSHD into the conversation by intent, though... and WHERE did WoW come from???) BTW, unless my memory is totally shot, Micron wasn't great with Y2K-vintage GeForce 2 cards. :? Also, did you notice the resolution/refresh that hawkxs is running at? 1280x1024 is (again, unless I miss my memory) harsh on an 800 Mhz CPU and an early GeForce 2 video card like what hawkxs has... More than likely, however, Dracion1 is right, and changing security suites may provide a better performance boost than just simply ducking the resolution back to 1024x768 or 1152x864. :-k ~D. V. "Ergh..." Devnull

This thread IS in the wrong forum... Requesting move to "Forum Updates & Suggestions"... :( ~Mr. "Why does this keep happening?!?!?" Devnull

Do you know what video card you have? If not, you can check with DXdiag's "Display" tab(s), or just use the item located at http://www.rasterwerks.com/game/tool/swdiag.htm, which is another graphics diagnostic, but done in shockwave... (I personally certify the link as clean, because I have used it myself and found no bad elements in the page.) ... BTW, if you can post a screenshot with the info, it will be very helpful. :geek: As for CPU, you're actually below the minimum requirement... That isn't good, seeing as RSHD is very heavy on a computer... Also, sadly, you are on the minimum for RAM. If possible, upgrade that. :? ~D. V. "Ouch, you need more..." Devnull

Yes thats exactly what i was seeing except instead of those squares i was getting these upside down L's. And this is happening AFTER Adobe Reader launches??? If so, I suspect that you both need to scan your computer, just in case there is some hidden malware sticking around. (There may not be, but it is good to play it safe and check anyway.) This seriously looks like someone was trying to exploit a bug in the Adobe Reader software. :? ~Mr. D. V. "Holy [bleep], that's weird!" Devnull
