  1. The original poster said that the game wasn't likely to be the cause of suicide. It was more of a straw that broke the camel's back.
  2. It usually takes some time between an event and news being published.
  3. QF: 27-28-21-54719856 I've heard of people killing themselves over getting banned or hacked, but this is the first time I've heard of someone committing suicide over an update. I hope this isn't true. :\ [Mod Edit: Please try to keep all RL events related to this update in this topic please ~misterxman]
  4. Back before Jagex shut down the free version of RSC, some players macroed loads of accounts to high levels just to sell them.
  5. Large companies, like, Microsoft, often have company/CEO ratings that show the approval rate - in other words, the percentage of people who approve of what they're doing. I know that U.S.-Forbes has a rating of 65 companies, but Jagex isn't included since it's based in England. Are there any approval ratings of Jagex being published by major companies? I'd like to see how these recent updates have affected Jagex ratings (like how EA's CEO's rating went down to the 20s shortly after EA shut down Earth & Beyond).
  6. You can check out Tip.It's own game, ARENAscape. :D
  7. I wonder how much it would cost to license your own private server.
  8. You guys forgot the "Did you know..." section. :P
  9. That is a great idea. Several other people have thought of it (great minds think alike!) and I see no problem with it. Oh, and welcome back, Topazjewel. :D
  10. Are you really planning to visit the Jagex headquarters? If so, tell us how it goes!
  11. No, no it doesn't :P Yes, yes it does. Pink it up, Matt. :P C'mon, everyone knows that rela men wear pink. :D
  12. Well, the funny news: I think I might have a drop trader. I was just banking some willows when I saw a low-leveled player disappear into a room. A while ago, some p-mods were talking about intercepting drop trades, so, just for fun, I decide to wait there outside for a minute, and sure enough, a noted item appeared. I rushed for it (He shoots...), and I got (He scores!) around 15k willow logs! Just for kicks, I decided to wait a while to see what the person's reaction would be, but they never appeared. Anyways, here's my question. A long time ago, if you intercepted someone's drop trade, they would be like "give it back or I'll report you" and we would just laugh at them. However, due to Jagex punishing innocent players these days, is it possible to get banned for intercepting a drop trade? Suppose that an autoer cuts 1k yew logs and tries to drop trade it to their main, but I intercept it. Will I get banned because Jagex thinks I'm the one that autoed the 1k yew logs? I'd really like to intercept autoers' drop trades, but I'm afraid that I'd get banned. :\
  13. It seems that once your members runs out, you no longer get teleported to Lumbridge unless you were in a members-only area. Previously, you get automaticlaly teleported to Lumbridge whether you're a member or not.
  14. I was trying to buy dragon bones earlier today and two noobs put up big bones instead.

    Sick of this!

Also, you should bank valuable items whenever you log off. That way, your PIN will protect them.
  16. My thoughts exactly. Unless the person is deliberately trying to raise your hackles, it's unprofessional (and rather rude) to block someone without a word of warning. It's like suddenly walking away from someone and slamming the door in their face. As for the main topic, it's likely that she was insecure, but my main concern is that I hope I didn't do anything "bad."
  17. The Tallest1 I also saw Angel Queen (currently ranked #208 overall) today, but I forgot to take a screenshot. :(
  18. The best thing is that catchphrases and "4chan speak" is probationable. Also threads are very rarely locked by the staff members. So basically if you post a [cabbage] thread, expect to have people make fun of you for it, and often in hilarious ways. Well, hilarious to us anyway. Red Hammer Week is awesome. Yeah, I've been on a few forums like that. There, staff members rarely ban users unless you do something REALLY bad.
  19. Like different countries, different forums have different policies. I'm just curious, how strict/lenient are the other forums you visit? Using Tip.It as a comparison: Strict in: Rules against censor bypassing, spamming, and potentially offensive material Lenient in: Users are rarely banned (compared to the 2002-2003 era) Overall: Average Some of the other sites I go to are: RuneScape official forums (current) Strict in: Enforcement of Jagex rules (many violations result in instant bans); many things are censored, such as politics and discussing scams Lenient in: Allows users to create multiple threads of the same subject, provided that there isn't already a sticky; user is not banned as a person (you may create a new account if you're banned) Overall: Strict Zybez Strict in: Rules are very precise as to what is allowed to be posted (for example, party posts require a screenshot) Lenient in: Allows some controversial topics that are not allowed on other forums, such as some 3rd party software Overall: Somewhat strict GameFAQs Strict in: Very strict policy against censor bypassing and illegal material; users get moderated for the smallest offense Lenient in: Allows topics that would be considered spam on sites like Tip.It, such as personal messages ("@John Doe: I made this pic for you!") or random silliness ("My dog is wearing a pink skirt!"); users are not banned as a person unless (s)he is a known troublemaker Overall: Lenient Newgrounds Strict in: Rule enforcement is tough (I once got a three-day ban for breaking a small rule) Lenient in: Very little censorship (in terms of profanity), allows controversial topics Overall: Somewhat lenient 3D Realms Strict in: Policy enforcement Lenient in: 3D Realms allows many topics, and few people have been banned, but then again, most people there are very mature Overall: Lenient Various forums on MySpace and Facebook Strict in: Depends on forum admin Lenient in: Depends on forum admin Overall: Depends, but overall lenient
  20. You sound like you're a little too caught up with yourself to think about why people do these "terrible" things. Perhaps she doesn't feel safe sharing so much personal information and photos of herself with somebody she doesn't know that well. Or maybe she just doesn't like you. Have you even talked to her in person? :-s From your description, she sounds like a normal girl to me. Yeah, I'm definitely not ruling out the possibility that she was "paranoid" or anything. The thing is, just because someone blocks me on AIM or whatever does not necessarily mean that I did something "bad." :) I've never really talked to X in person either, so she probably has a smaller comfort zone. The funny thing, I've had many friend requests from people who go to my school, though I've never talked to them in person either. One of them was someone who borrowed one of my CDs and wouldn't return them until my mother got mad and called her family.
  21. I was selling 288 prayer potions (3) for 6k each, and a level 50-something wanted to buy them. He offered 1.8m but seemed reluctant to accepted the trade. Since I wanted to get rid of them quickly, I told him that I would accept 1.7m instead of 1.728m (288 * 6,000). He put up 170k. I decline, but trade again, giving him the benefit of the doubt that it was a typo. However, he put up 170k again, and by now, I knew he was a scammer. He actually admitted it! (I actually reported him after the first trade, but I was going to ask Jagex to ignore my report if he wasn't scamming. Turned out he was really a scammer.)
  22. Yeah, that's pretty much true. I've also learned another thing. Just because someone goes to a good university doesn't mean they are "good" people. 1. I go to the University of California, Berkeley, and during my freshman year, one of my suitemates - let's called him Y - constantly harassed me, as well as several other of our suitemates. 2. A few weeks ago, I was showing some people a high-powered green laser, and someone suggested that I point it in their friends' eyes. I thought that Berkeley students would be much more mature than that, but I was wrong.
