16 June 2008 - Development Diary and System Specifications
Sweet, can't wait! Ok, for those saying that WoW graphics are better, why the hell does that matter? We're not trying to compete, we're not trying to take part in an endless race. We're just trying to get a better game than before. We don't give a damn about WoW. Secondly, for those who think the requirements are low, that's the point. Runescape is all about accessibility, and if they didn't put their hard work into lowering the requirements, their efforts would be effectively wasted compared to the amount of people they could have had. Thirdly, I don't think that they would limit fullscreen to p2p, they can easily put a small space at the top for the regular banner as usual.

Sorry, but I'm afraid that Jagex had beaten you all. :thumbsup: Translucent chatbox and interfaces, icons arranged at the bottom, the minimap's still there but separate from the rest... and what's this? A globe icon? Could this be the in-game map we've been looking for? :shock:

I wanna trim my cape too!
I think that it's a good idea to trim the quest cape with an achievement diary cape when more have been released (5 or 6 is a good number). Also, of course, the quest cape trims the diary cape. The thing is that I don't feel comfortable in placing the Quest cape in the same group of achievement as 99 skills. They're neither higher nor lower than each other, but you really can't define them together because of their different natures. But, It's easy to stick the Diaries in the same group because they have similar natures (new tasks appear all the time, and quests are effectively a structured succession of tasks like the Achievement Diaries). But I would think that they would colour the achievement diary cape green, because it's symbol is effectively a light green version of the quest symbol.

I agree, this goes completely against the idea of Combat Levels and is basically unsupportable.

Clan Rules Before RuneScape Rules, Or Vice Versa?
I would have thought that the best thing would be to just Report but don't actually say anything about it. Runescape rules over clan rules, but I do see the incentive to do otherwise. Just stay quiet about it and nobody will know who reported.

That makes sense. Starting at '0' isn't that bad and actually helps more than it hinders. Str4lif3, that's a much better picture. Nice one.

Self-Sufficiency vs. Bought Skills
I'm self-sufficient, because as of yet I've found no enjoyment, let alone profit, in buying skills. But, that's probably the case because I haven't got to such a high level where skills really start to get 'grindey', if you know what I mean. However, even when I am self-sufficient, I still don't like to rush things, because I'm enjoying the game as it is and how I want to.

Agreed, I keep on mixing up which button is the one for the post above and which one is for the post below. However, It's a breath of fresh forum.tip.it air, and hopefully we will get this skin as good as the one before, It's nearly there already! However, I don't think that we needed the excessive choice for font colour, I think that 10 is enough.

Of course it isn't an adequate replacement, but I don't think it's possible to create an adequate replacement of Wilderness PKing while still preventing RWTing.

New Slayer Setups
Exactly what I think. I feel like I wasted so much time completing Haunted Mine and Tarn's Lair. And I don't know whether I should bother doing Tarn's Lair in the future. Jagex does have some bright ideas when it comes to inventing new items, but they don't think about its effect on the item it replaces.

New Slayer Setups
Yep, Salve (e) is now only useful for non-Slayer combat. Personally I think that they should combine incompletely, so instead of just adding them to get 35%, it should be 25%. Then the salve (e) would be back in business.

Doubt that Jagex would employ them if he/she didn't enjoy it. Why would you go in for a big job like that if you didn't enjoy what you had to do? :?

The Great Tip Pic of 2008- OLD
Good to see that I made the pic. :) The only problem is that for some reason the forums refuse to stretch to allow for hidden items, so loads of the picture looks cut off to me. Am I the only one to get this? EDIT: At least the entire image is viewable if you copy and paste it into paint.

Summoning looked down upon?
Rofl, that's not the point :P Your melee, magic, prayer, and ranged levels are your own. While your summoning combat levels represent the strength of the combat familiars you could possibly use. That strength is not your own, but the familiar's, thus when your familiar is not summoned that strength is completely gone. You have to look a bit more openly when it comes to what is 'your own' strength. You've also got the capability to produce something with it's own strength, which when fighting adds to your own damage, so It's technically damage coming from you and technically your own strength. Plus, it's like having high melee stats and medium level magic stats and using magic instead of melee, so therefore by your logic your combat level should decrease because you're not using your superior melee stats which decides your combat level. It's all to do with maximum potential, which exclude factors such as you enemies' defensive properties. You could decide, for whatever reason (such as your opponent is wearing armour), that you will not use your best skills to fight and will use a different skill (such as magic) to actually get a better amount of damage in. Then your combat level is inaccurate. You could summon a familiar to attack an enemy, but you might not because it's not worth the pouch. Again your combat level is inaccurate. But that's the nature of combat levels, the fact that a sensible character with a fighting familiar is a better fighter than the same character on it's own justifies the combat level increase.

It's a bit of a pattern, all of the languages Runescape is translated in/ is planned to be translated in are the first languages of many countries, so Portuguese was a brilliant choice. =D> So, it's German, then French, then Portuguese... they have a big job on their hands. Let's see how French goes first though.

As i see you added even our CSS color changing that can be further improved to add some more colors combinations and styles what if people really like can be then ported even to web site :) It look like there is also requests for a more classic prosilver + black version for people who stay a lot in front of monitor so that they don't fatigue eyes more, suggestion is to always have one small light at back of monitor so that there is no contrast between monitor surface and surrounding ambient, something like philips backlight if you have seen HDTV with lights at back. Great, I love that one, it reminds me of the Chronicles one I used to use.

Gravestones (Getting Bugs and Suggestions back in Business)
Whoops, should have made that clearer. The 3-item rule still applies, you still keep them under normal circumstances. The rules about 'Protect Item' prayer and the Abyss skull also still apply. However, I'm suggesting that the next 3 items should be open to looters. Magicmagicy, I do like the whole random selection and the success rate, but I don't like the % chance value. How about throwing in the thieving skill? At level 1 it's 20%, at level 100 (thieving cape) it's 80%, sliding scale inbetween. Also, if you fail, the time locked would be the time taken for you to process the items you would have got, you could say that you got caught by a trap and got cursed, which must take time to dissipate, the more valuable the item, the stronger the curse. What do you think? Also, I don't think that we need to restrict it to 1 item, it's just that the slot would be 'cursed' and would still have to processed individually, but you wouldn't get the income, whether as an item or coins. How about forcing it so that cursed slots must be processed first? I think I might change it so that it's time spent playing.
