  1. Hmm, Runescape is heavily based on skilling, so you've cornered yourself. There are so many things to do, with a higher level. Merchanting and Pking, well perhaps not merchanting, are just offshoots off the main game. I'm sure that there are ways to merchant with very good profits. You do what you want to do, but keeping in touch with us on tif is always nice.
  2. You do know you can click my username right? that shows my stats Ive mentioned in previous posts why I dont like quest, I suggest you read before you post. Being so untrusting of others is a shame, I have meny close freinds ive found throught the game that we used to share and give stuff to help each other. What Jagex is doing will only dehumanize everyone in Rs, making think there in a machine and not interacting with a person that has feelings, thoughts or considerations. Well, hell, Marduk, we ain't against people who are against the changes, we're just annoyed that you would think of some pretty idiotic ideas that could potentially make RS extinct. (trade @ lvl 100 - this aint communism , this is capitalism, you stupid noob - yes i'm calling you a stupid noob, marduk!) You're an atk/str pure. 84 def compared to the high 90's lvls of atk and str... you're just lazy or not imagnative. Get over it. I'm sorry you hate quests based on content. Be glad you have 144 qp. I'd be afraid you'd quit if trade limits were based on qp! (PS I hope you do quit - that way, 1 more major whiner gone from the RS world :P) Unfortunately, your friends that you know irl that play RS you can sure believe they're real - unless they're gettin hacked. The other ppl you met on RS, that you don't know irl, sure they can put on a good convo, but you know if they're legit? They skilled as a cover-up perhaps. It's not a shame to not trust people. That's called being on your guard. Kinda like if you were on myspace talking, and a boy your age wants to meet you. Turns out he's somewhere in his 30s and a molester. Same deal here. A bot is just as bad as a molester, in their respective environments. They're danger to societies. I'm sorry, Marduk, I'm glad you're also not working for JaGEx. You'd destroy JaGEx in one fell swoop. Millions would have nothing to play, and you'd be out of a job. They wouldn't let you even touch MechScape. Bell curves don't work well here on RS. Your argument is invalid, comparing it to college (i'm assuming you meant grades in college courses.) Bell curves... curves... qp is a straight number, can easily be implemented as a linear algorithm to easily limit trade worth and value. Basis: you get rewarded (in this case, decreased trading restrictions) by purchasing a product that a company sells (i.e. JaGEx sells their ideas as quests. Players - customers - do the quests.) You were a mod? Who in the hell gave you mod status? ------------------------------------------------------------------- Off the counter-rant: My guess on the 3000 number is that JaGEx would have created the system so that based on your combat lvl, you could trade up to 1k times your cmb lvl. Pretty uneven as far as the range of cmb goes, but in this case, a lvl 3 autoer could only trade up to (1k * cmb lvl 3) = 3k per 15 minutes to a bot owner's main account (1k * let's say cmb lvl 60) = 60k per 15 minutes. QP is a much smaller number to work with on f2p scale (seeing as you can get up to 34-35 qp on f2p). The trade restriction is much easier to work with, because many f2pers will have done most or all the quests to fully enjoy JaGEx's product. It's again coming to the rewards thing i said before. ~WSW~ Im far from a pure, I used to have 76 defence then I desided to work on it the I become very bored and stoped. Ask most any Mods here on Tip.it almost all know me atleast in some way 8-) so before you got on this your a noob thing, realize ive been around RS since before even most everyone here with the exception of a very small amount of people. Im 23 years old if a boy my age turns out to be a 30 yo and trys to touch me he would be dead within seconds of that attempt. I was a Player mod for a long time, so i really dont see were you get this Id hurt runescape idea. And with the number 3000 ill get back to Jagex thinking everyones a noob. 3000 is a noobish number, You cant do anything theres no variance at all no ability to be flexable. Theres also a problem, what they are doing is over kill, with RWT deals are done in the millions, why set the amount so low as to 3k? thats completely and utterly rediculous. Puting QP as the thing to increase trade limits is unfair to both those that dont like quest as there boring as hell, those that want to stay pureish and those that dont have the time to quest. Firstly, I fail to believe that you are 23 years old if you still believe that stats of your character is a good evaluation of how credible your argument is, and your overuse of the term 'noob'. Seriously, don't use it. Also, trying to be masculine with: 'Im 23 years old if a boy my age turns out to be a 30 yo and trys to touch me he would be dead within seconds of that attempt.', results in no respect from us. Secondly, 3K isn't a 'noobish number', it's just an unrealistic number for more advanced characters. It is very realistic for your basic level 3, 0 qp, under 100 total skill leveled character. Just wait for the trade restriction loosening system to be introduced. Thirdly, the use of qp to loosen trade limits is good because you can't efficiently program a character to raise it. Using combat level is unfair because I think that there are plenty more players which really don't want to raise combat than those who really have to keep their character at 0 qp. Besides, you can really easily auto your way to level 100 combat. In fact, you're giving the RWTers a helping hand because there are already programs in order to train combat out there for the purpose of green dragon killing. What's wrong with quests anyway? They're one of the best parts of the game.
  3. Nice work there. I think that the GE served the purpose for Jagex to track market prices, and thus detect trends which they generally couldn't before (maybe this is the reason for the problem in the setting of initial GE prices?) and this has also helped players. A dedicated automatically running site (or even a section of runescape.com!) which tracks economic data from the GE would be really appreciated. I can't see how this could be created by anybody outside Jagex, but it may be possible somehow.
  4. That would be a nice little improvement, but the fact is that Dragon trumps Rune any day, so, as PlutoniumCross pointed out, Dragon claws would result in a much fairer comparison. However, I do agree that the claws should be ÃÆÃâÃâüber fast, but not particularly damaging. I'm talking about a melee version of throwing knives here. Also, give them minor defensive bonuses, similar to defenders. Oh, and add in all of the metal types. It doesn't matter if they're unsmithable because that would make them interesting.
  5. Hell no, rs has gone so far down I wouldn't be surprised if I seen it In dead last.. But the important thing here isn't the current player's opinions who don't like the game and quit. The important thing is that new players seem to be filling their shoes. In fact, sometimes is that case that two new players fills an old player's shoes. RS is still growing rapidly. I'm amazed that RS would be rated #3 though. I mean, yeah, it's better than MapleStory or Silkroad or FlyFF, but to be a contender for WoW which has frazzled the brains of so much of the MMORPG/MMOFPS gaming population? No, surely not... but could it? No... yes... no... :uhh:
  6. I agree with you here, B- is a good grade for '07. By the way, will you update the final grades for some updates you have left as '?' for now, and if they are good/bad enough, will that affect the final grade? Just to point something out: You need to have a look in to your advertising bar. On only one page it lists 2 gold-selling sites, 1 power leveling site, 1 site claiming to have 'RS cheats', and a WoW account selling site. It doesn't look good next to so many good articles. I understand that you don't have much control over them, but there wasn't a single ad there that didn't break either RS or WoW (unless they do allow account selling) rules. I'd suggest you start ad blocking before it gets out of hand.
  7. Motorola Pebl: I don't know about anyone else, but I've always loved this phone. There's something awesome about opening it by just sliding your thumb in the same hand you're holding it with, and with enough practice you can make it look like you didn't do anything to open it.
  8. I agree that there is a very high chance that an external terrorist group is to blame, however, I don't think that this is any Anti-Western (America, believe it or not, isn't everything) effort at the moment. They have caused political chaos, but they can't just waltz in and say 'Let's blame the Americans for this mess!', because the Pakistani population isn't stupid. Oh, and for further news, Benazir Bhuto's son, Bilawal Bhutto, has been named as her successor for the Presidency of the PPP. He's currently studying at Oxford, and for the time being Benazir's widower, Asif Ali Zardari, (for the sake of memory, call him AAZ, or 'Big Al', or Mr Z or something...) will run the party to the elections. I'm not posting a quote for yet another article on the subject, but if you're interested, clicky.
  9. True. TPUM has never fired a laser gun (shame on you. :notalk:)

  11. will_HOlom ,kesd Damn, I was doing really well then messed up (I had to use my other elbow to press the shift key for the _ ).
  12. I have a few possible suggestions: 1. Jagex said that many of the GE prices were off, so this may be an example of one of those prices. In that case, they will be fixed in due course. 2. The lack of bots (and the resultant drop in raw material production) is causing somewhat of a shockwave throughout the whole economy. Hopefully this will stabilise. 3. With yew longs at unreasonable prices, you shouldn't be using them. If you have to train to 99 Magic, use an alternative method. As other people have said, green d'hide bodies and steel plates are popular for alching. Combat magic at metal dragons are also popular with the mages. By defiantly buying yew longs at these prices, you are thereby maintaining their price. Your call. 4. As the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy so famously stated: Don't Panic. Do something else, like, uh, Hunter or something. This isn't the end of the world.
  13. A pair of socks. The most original present out there which nobody really needs. Luckily though I got some new pyjamas with it, which I did need, so I'm not really annoyed.
  14. This is a bit of guess-work, but from what I can gather is that you seem to have based the structure of your routine (school, chores, etc.) in your mind on the presence on another activity, i.e. Runescape. When you remove this activity, you cannot restructure the rest of your routine in which all tasks are performed while still filling in the gap. The result is that you can't concentrate on a new routine. It's not that Runescape helped your grades, it's just that the lack of an activity which Runescape filled has cause your grades to drop. I'd suggest that you try to fill in the gap with either Runescape or another activity which you would take part in for a similar amount of time per day.
  15. The issue isn't what the age actually is of the player, it's the maturity that goes along with the age limit. What us 'scapers are fed up with is that the censor caters for those who are below that age limit, who shouldn't be playing. Since Jagex is based in England, it applies under English censorship laws. Therefore the censor should apply at the level of '12' BBFC (they classify the age restrictions for films/DVDs etc. in Britain) maturity ratings. If you would find it in a 12 rated movie, you should be allowed to find it in Runescape.
  16. I've got that sometimes. Usually you can still kill it though.
  17. I like the idea of the monster taking your items if you die. How about we take it one step further, and that it takes dropped weapons occasionally to use a special attack? Barrows armour effects could also be used...
  18. Yikes, so it was Al Qaeda. Mind you, that doesn't surprise me. If you want another related article about her funeral, here it is: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/7162236.stm
  19. This applies to corporations as well as individuals. That's pretty good. I think that Jagex would have resorted in doing this to Runescape if they hadn't demolished RWTers before it got out of hand, so the example of mas IP blocking is closer to home than we might think.
  20. Hmm... tough call. I don't think that it would cause long term damage (unless you dislocated your finger completely or something), but it isn't exactly a conversation starter either. I don't really do it for that reason.
  21. That's true, but I think that the drunk babysitters probably mentioned that they were trying out Mortal Kombat moves. If not, then I completely agree that the media is just poking fun at computer/video games, and it's sad that the media would take this stance on an incident which should be really serious.
  22. no one would collect/buy 1million buckets for 1m. that would take forever, and If they bought the buckets it would cost more than one million gold. +1. Dirk could probably have easily made several million gp himself before he managed to get his paws on a million buckets. What's happened is that the RWTer has received real money for nothing because the customer has done 1 mill gp's worth of work, and received his pay for his efforts. Besides, the GE prices aren't perfect yet, and perhaps there is a need for some decimal place value (ie. a tenth of a gp) for items such as buckets, because with items like this which are bought in bulk, the difference between 1 gp each and 2gp each is huge. Anyway, unbalanced trade hasn't come in yet at 100%, so RWTing still exists. It's just that most of them have got the idea and packed up and left. In conclusion, there is nothing illegal here, because Dirk isn't paying for his money. He's just paying. Actually, there is something illegal going on here, will_holmes. Dirk is being scammed out of his IRL $$$ by John, as well as their promised-but-totally-illegal gp. So it is more than just RWT-gone-incomplete, it is also theft by the RWT'er of Dirk's IRL money, and all because Dirk was not smart enough to not fall into the trap. Kinda sad, when ya think about it. :( ~Mr. Devnull Sorry, I needed to clarify. I mean 'illegal' as in 'breaking the Code of Conduct'. Sure, it is a real life scam, and a slightly clever one at that, but there is no case of actual RWTing here. There is a legitimate trade of buckets and gp, so that doesn't break the rules. Dirk thought he was paying for his gp with real life money, but he was actually paying for his money with a million buckets. I appreciate that John still got his money, but the problem with RWTing was that those who bought gp with rl cash got their gp. The customer would then have faith in the black market and buy more gp with cash, and also spread the word to others. Now, it is only possible via scams of real life cash. As more and more people discover this, then nobody will try to buy money any more. Result: it is unprofitable for the gold sellers, which is exactly what Jagex intended.
  23. A democracy involves two or more political powers grinding against one another in an attempt to win votes. In ours and the US's democracy, that's safe because the Armed Forces are more-or-less independant from the government, let alone a political party. Pakistan is ruled by someone who until a month ago was your equivalent of a Commander-in-Chief. It is descending into civil war, and only the Taleban operating over the border in Afghanistan can benefit from this. I fear that we are going to hear the phrase 'Civil War' more often in the future if this really gets out of hand. President Bush and PM Brown have strategically blamed extremists, because blaming Musharraf will end up in a diplomatic dispute. However, that doesn't rule out the opinion that he may have had a hand in the attacks. If it turns out he has had a hand in this, we will certainly be hearing 'Civil War' in the future.
  24. I don't see how they realistically can when the likely winner is killed 13 days before the polls open. Then again Musharraf may decide to go on with the election in the hope that it splits the opposition vote and helps him to hold on to power. I hope they postpone the elections for a short while until the whole country is in a position to properly carry out a fair election. However, whether that will be the case is anyones bet. Yeah, it did seem very convenient for General Musharraf, but then again Bhutto did stand for ideas which contradicted the views of extremist groups, such as democracy and female/male equality. Everyone is pointing at everyone, and it seems that the ensuing chaos will be reason enough for Musharraf to continue a State of Emergency over Pakistan.
  25. +1. Pakistan isn't going to be the nicest place to live in for the next few weeks.
