  1. Can we please change the 'post creation' screen so that the choice of font colour is hidden but appears as a scrolling list to select it? I'd like this because the grid of font colours squashes up the area where a post is typed, and seems pointless because the vast majority of posts don't use them. Thank you!
  2. They have no in game advantage, just the advantage of seeing a smoother side of the game. Its like people with breadbond dont lag as much as people with dial up. *cracks up at 'breadbond'*
  3. Mmm, good analogy, and it's right. I bet that RWTing wouldn't have been tackled like this if it didn't threaten Jagex's main income (Runescape membership via credit card).
  4. Exactly. People have got to start realising that even if there are plenty of methods to get oil from waste, the world doesn't need any more oil even if people still seem to crave it. Hydrogen is the better fuel in every way.
  5. Wouldn't suit Runescape, ever. There's a certain style about those kind of MMO's which I actually find a bit tacky. It's probably the fact that everybody wears ridiculous clothes that look like paper. And the ground is never textured properly (the grass is actually a solid floor with no sticky-uppy tufts like grass should be). Jagex actually does much better ground textures than that. Sorry, I'm nitpicking, but you know what I mean.
  6. That is such a slight difference I don't see how you could compare it to RWT. You're comparing having a slightly longer view range in BH to being able to buy half of the skills in the game and having access to any piece of armor they like. No comparison. but the morals are the same : getting an advantage because of rl background Not an in-game advantage, which benefits your account. The draw distance has not been adjusted, it just looks better. I repeat, ultra-fullscreen-detail mode will not give your account an in-game advantage. It will just be a more enjoyable experience, unlike allowing RWTing, which would detract from the experience. The only exception to this is p2p, and I really don't think that we want to get into that debate. By the way, is it me, or does anyone find purposely included 'shock titles' which convinces you to enter the thread to flame, which actually doesn't live up to the title at all, really annoying?
  7. Personally I think that the formula should be more complex, so it incorporates quest points and total level, and the limit should be 50K/15 mins. Be careful with your upper limit though, 100K/15 mins is a bit high even if it does mean maxing out your total level. Think of it as 400K an hour.
  8. :D So? At least we're not like 10 or something.
  9. Junk trading was the inevitable result of people following the law of supply and demand where the GE prices contravened it. In an ideal world, it shouldn't happen, but because the GE is far from ideal, it does. Jagex's handling of newly created tradeable items is poor, you can't slap on a price without observing how much the players value it after the initial hype. The top hat proves my point. Blame the causes, not the people practising junk trading.
  10. Probably firemaking, but I'd rather that they'd just update it. Make fires last longer. Make it possible to do something interesting with burning magic logs, you know it makes sense.
  11. And, for once, I think that Jagex have proved that they can deal with two things simultaneously. The fact that FunOrb was a success while still updating Runescape (Graphics update?) shows that Jagex is not diverting positions from one game to another, but they're growing into new areas. RyderJ, you're too quick to come to conclusions without any evidence to support and plenty of evidence against. FunOrb hasn't detracted from Runescape, so why would Mechscape?
  12. I don't think that Spore and Runescape can be compared in that way, they're different games. Spore is all about the graphics and imagery, as it helps with creativity. Runescape is about community and teamwork. Looking at the screenshots, comparing the updated Runescape graphics with Spore graphics (both of which haven't been fully released yet!), Spore isn't incredibly far ahead of Runescape. Of course they haven't perfected the graphics yet, but that wasn't the aim. The aim was to bring it to this 'acceptable' level, despite the fact that Jagex has worked much harder than other gaming companies to get the same result, due to different platforms and their desire to keep Runescape widely accessible. And kudos to them. As far as I'm concerned, when it comes to updating the graphics from what it was before, any news is good news.
  13. There's also a new system called gravestones. Basically, when you die, a gravestone appears for a set length of time at that spot, the default setting is 2 minutes. You will lose the items in the gravestone if you don't make it back in time. You can go back from your respawn and get your items back from your own gravestone, the idea is that it replaces grabbing your own deathpile. However, there's various methods that you can do to increase this time. 1. You can buy more elaborate (and expensive) gravestones which increase the time it lasts from 2 minutes (free) to 5 minutes (500K). 2. A passing player with at least 2 prayer points can repair your gravestone for up to 5 minutes longer, allowing you more time to return. 3. A passing player with over level 70 prayer can bless your gravestone where it will last for an hour. 2 and 3 replace the concept of another player holding your items and giving them back to you. RWTers can't use it because it's impossible for another player to take the items and run off with them. Only thing is, it makes the game easier because nobody can steal your deathpile any more. It was being used as a method to transer gold that had been collected by accounts using stolen credit cards...... it was at a stage where if drastic methods where not brought in to remove the point of autoing the game would be shut down..... Even Jagex had fingers crossed when they did it, but had no choice. No, that's conjecture, there were other options, such as prevent people from paying with credit cards. Yes, but attacking RWTing like this was the only serious option that would damage the game the least.
  14. Uh, Mechanical? You know, robots, futuristic. It's an attempt to describe an entire game in a prefix.
  15. What timing! :D
  16. That sounds like a good idea, but feasibility may be debatable. How fast is their metabolic rate? What's the input-output ratio? How carbon-negative is this, since they are producing oil which would eventually be burnt and the carbon would be released into the atmosphere anyway? I still think that hydrogen feul is the best idea, coupled with nuclear fission/fusion, solar, wind, and hydroelectric power. Heck, we can do things like what ember suggested, using global warming to solve global warming! What I don't get is why they haven't thought of using wind and solar power to make hydrogen feul (via electrolysis) when it's in excess, then burning the fuel when there is no wind/light! It's carbon neutral, in fact there's no carbon involved. Hydrogen is effectively nature's batteries.
  17. 15 here. I feel too young and slightly small compared to you guys.
  18. I can't see how this would not be Mechscape, but it's good that they have started to get on with release dates, even if they haven't admitted it's true name. And I agree that trying to attract girls more than they have already is a lost cause. This genre of games attracts many times more boys than girls and it's impossible to target a certain gender without detracting from the other. They will likely continue with the trend of accounts being universal for all Jagex games, the system which they have got going between Runescape and FunOrb has been innovative and beneficial to FunOrb's growing popularity, and it would be easy to branch it again into the Mechscape worlds. If it was a separate username database then inter-game communications would be too complicated, maybe even impossible, and growth for Mechscape would probably be poor. They've constructed their own spring-board, they may as well use it.

I'm afraid I have to agree. Mining, when it was invented, was designed to simulate the tedium and effort needed, but with potentially big rewards.
  20. A Jagex mod lurking here would be laughing so hard at this...
  21. QFT. We used to be called Scapeboards a long time ago (before I logged in the first time) and had to change our name. And we didn't crumble, we became bigger and better under a new name. Anyway, a clan war would easily solve this dispute.
  22. Yeah, like that. I'm starting to think that it should require a crafting level, or an NPC should do it. Or both.
  23. Oh yeah, you can separate them as well.
  24. I've once mentioned about an idea that I've been rolling around in my mind, and I think it's time to make it into a thread. Team capes are a brilliant idea, most clans have established their own 'official' team cape, including us. But, the problem is that the stats are terrible for a cape by today's standards. The reason why is that when they were released, capes were not really for the bonuses, they were for symbolic purposes and would help differentiate between friend and foe. But now that we have some more powerful capes such as the Obsidian cape and the Fire Cape and of course the Achievement Capes, people opt for the stats instead of 'Showing your colours'. With the introduction of PvP worlds, this suggestion is more important than ever! What I propose is that every team cape can be combined with most other stat boosting capes so that they change their colour and markings whilst still being recognisable as the other cape, but the stats remain unchanged. So, for example, an Obsidian cape coupled with a Team 25 cape: And a Zamorak Cloak coupled with a Team 23 cape: As requested, a Trimmed Strength Cape with a Team 12 cape: Ava's Attractor with a Team 43 cape: And a Trimmed Herblore cape with a team 37 cape: Finally a Spottier cape with a team 11 cape: (If you would like me to make some more pictures of possible combinations, I am willing to make them!) These items should be 'combinable' with any team cape: Spotty Cape Spottier Cape Ava's Attractor Ava's Accumulator Any Achievement Cape (Trimmed or Untrimmed) Obsidian Cape Fire Cape Zamorak/Guthix/Saradomin Cloak Note: It is possible to separate and combine the capes at any time, in case you don't like the colour on a certain cape. Support and constructive criticism welcome. Submitted suggestions:
