  1. Well, I think Armadyl and Saradomin are both good gods. But they encompass different kinds of good. Saradomin is a puritanical sort of god. All about laws and order, not so much about the individual. I see Armadyl as a more loving and gentle god. I read/heard that he no longers has interest in Runescape because his beloved race was eradicated- the Avianses. Zamorak is evil. He embodies chaos, and maybe a little destruction. Basically a watered down version of Khorne. Bandos is a war god. That's all he cares about is war. Oh, and worship. Guthix is obviously the God of Balance. Zaros is the empty god. As someone else said, the god of destruction. Sort of Guthix's balance. We also have the pantheon of desert gods, but I'm a little fuzzy there and don't want to get into that now.
  2. After doing the quest, I must say the storyline was the best so far. It was moving, it was exciting, it even had a bit of philosophy ala Grubfoot. The best scenes were where you sat next to and knelt by Zanik. It really helped the emotional feel. I also liked the variety of choices you could make in how you addressed the various characters. Just two things bad about the quest itself. One, the time capsule and nursery portions felt tacked on and unnecessary and two, on my way back to Dorgesh-Khan I got Miles. I was so freakin' upset. I'm sad it's over... I'm hoping their might be spin off quests though... or maybe something to do with Zanik...
  3. I doubt the gods are so markedly defined as many posters here are claiming. With the possible exception of Guthix and Zaros, the gods are merely given labels that roughly correspond to their respective ideologies. For example, Saradomin is often referred to as being the God of Righteousness, Wisdom, and Light. However, he has no more power or dominion over these than Armadyl has over Law or Bandos in Warfare (for example). I believe the Moon Clan has it right in that the gods are thought to be little different from mortals; they merely walk a "higher astral path." Concerning your description of Zamorak, I would argue that the "God of Chaos" title properly belongs to Zaros. I don't know about anyone else, but I see Guthix and Zaros as being antitheses of one another (Creation vs. Chaos/Destruction, and Life vs. Death). The fact that Zaros was equal to the threat posed by the combined force of every other god at the time of the God Wars confirms this for me. It may be that I'm reading too far into the mythology of a mere game, but in most real-life creation myths, there is a both a "void" and a creator god in the beginning of time. I equate Guthix with this creator god (even though he did not create the plane, he is undoubtably the source of life in Gielinor) and Zaros with the void (hence the title "Empty Lord"). Zamorak, if anything, is the "God of Evil"--being directly opposed to "Good" but still falling under the category of Creation rather than that of Chaos/Destruction. *Note* Seren is described at one point as being the physical manifestation of the Anima Mundi. Because of this, I tend to view her as being the "daughter" of Guthix. I gave the generic titles of the Gods and what they're most often associated with according to NPC's and the old God letters. We could go in depth, but perhaps another time. :) Like you, I'm very interested in the mythology of the game. I've always thought of Zaros as being the foil to Armadyl, but I do believe that you're right in that Zaros seemed to be far more powerful than the other gods. It would be interesting if he turned out to be the antithesis of Guthix. I think it'd be REALLY interesting if the Elder Gods Guthix mentions in Making History come back. And Zaros is Cthulu.
  4. Mines RFD. Best... quest... ever.
  5. Since the nerf, I heard it's something like 52 k an hour with a high fail rate. On the other hand, it does give strength and range experience... but doesn't the prior goblin agility course to the same?
  6. No, wrong. GAMES ARE NOT ALL ABOUT THE STORYLINE, THEY ARE ALL ABOUT THE FUN YOU HAVE PLAYING THEM. A Zelda or Fire Emblem game relies heavily on the plot, but a Mario or Halo game does not. And that goes double for MMORPGs. Sure, a good storyline is nice, but, long after the memory fades, you still have the rewards. Look at the Temple Knight quests, especially the last one. Excellent plot, Lovecraftian vibe, and the best prayer based armor in the game. Look at RFD. Unique style quest, interesting plot, and with excellent and varied rewards, one of which is a Agility Course that high levels will use instead of this one. Good storyline and great rewards. Now look at the goblin finale. Low leveled quest, initially contained several bugs, excellent plot, but anti-climatic boss fight. Oh, and the only good, non-PvP reward was nerfed the same day. In contrast, RFD, quest 100, had an epic boss fight, was long but not boring, introduced numerous new areas, gave the best hand armor in the game, and had content for low and high level players. Although, since I believe it can fire bone bolts, Zanik's Crossbow may be an excellent training weapon.
  7. Okay. I'll sum it up like this. Why the hell should you get a better drop, using the weakest of equipment in a controlled setting, than someone who's using an AGS and full Bandos, in a place where PJing could occur at literally any moment? They shouldn't. But because 75k is the limit for increasing drop potential, they don't. That expensive equipment really doesn't help drop potential because someone in rune plate, rune legs, and with a DDS can get the same drop potential by risking only two items.
  8. This could be oracle from heaven, age of Aquarious, prosperity reigns good, or head for the hills, grab the family valuables and a shot gun bad. On the one hand, Jagex could be showing that they've truly turned over a new leaf and are willing to listen to their paying customers as well as interact with the community. Exclusive content sounds nice, but considering they're extending the offer to most larger fansites, I don't expect much. On the other hand, they could start demanding more and more regulation of said fansites. They could demand harsher censoring, more banned topics, etc. Also, what is said here may begin to carry over to your character, if it's obvious you own it. By this I mean, say something rude or against the rules here, get a black mark on the official forums. But we'll know when it comes.
  9. You see, laddie me buck, when a lad loves a lass, but tries ta be too fresh with her, then she cries out "Ye wee bugger! Try an be familiar with me again, an ye'll feel the back of my hand!" Aye, laddies and lasses, I've been waitin' for this very quest since the last Goblin quest! Tis' the one thing so far that has lured me back ta the arms o' Runescape, cruel mistress though she be. Although I hear tha rewards tain't worth the hype...
  10. I think Mechscape will be detrimental to Runescape. Not because Runescape will lose a large amount of population to it, but because I believe the game won't be very good. It's new territory, Jagex may fumble with the motif and, let's face it, Runescape got lucky. Mechscape, in my own opinion once more, probably won't. This won't be immediately bad for Runescape, but, after investing all that money in a flop, Jagex is going to need to recoup their losses. They'd do that by either a. firing staff, b. cutting wages causing the best of the best to look for jobs elsewhere, or c. increasing membership fees. In a. players get less content, with b. players get worse content, and door number three rewards players with a higher premium. But then, this is just how I think it'll play out.
  11. Did you really have to bump up this topic. Did YOU have to bump... blast! I did it too! How long ago was Bounty Hunter taken down again? Two, three weeks? I really want an update on how that's coming along, for the sake of this newfangled transparency that Jagex is supposed to have.
  12. As I love Goblins, all and any, this will probably bring me back for at least a month. But I'm worried that the rewards of such a quest won't be nearly as epic as RFD or Legends. Looking back on the quest arc, the most substantial reward I can think of is the train to Keldagrim, giving easy access to the Blast Furnace, the Fremminik Province, and that gold mine from Between a Rock and a Hard Place, and the Agility Course. Other than that, it's mostly been experience and novelty areas and items.
  13. I believe the complaints stem from the unnecessarily complex example, not from the quality of writing. I myself skimmed after he started breaking out the math, simply because it was so complex.
  14. This is true. But, on the other hand, it turns Mod MMG into an oracle of knowledge. This is very conducive to cross country power trips, as you probably already know. The dependence on one man, albeit a very knowledgeable one, is a bad thing.
  15. Looks like there's going to be no update this week. Unless you count the lore, but if they're going to start considering THAT an update... well, things don't look good. I believe this is the sort of thing they couldn't do with a BTS but feel they can now.
  16. Trying to be a smartass isn't your thing. Some got it, some don't. I got it. And I stole it!
  17. Too bad there wasn't anything about madness or Sparta, but 2/4 is good enough. Considering how anti-war the Dorgeshuun were, I don't think they'd be fighting many wars against unending legions. They might RUN from unending legions, but never fight them.
  18. I misread that as Charlie Brown in prison... good grief.
  19. But the BTS did sometimes give massive updates without us knowing. Remember Construction? That BTS told us of a new update that would let us sit on chairs! It was vague, funny, and clever. And DDs can be used to overhype something FAR more than the BTS. Look at all the Summoning stuff for proof.
  20. What if the customer says he can juggle three elephants? Then go to Africa, smuggle roughly 24 tons of biological contraband, show up at their house, then meaningfully nod at the three African Bull Elephants on their yard.
  21. These aren't exactly a BTS. None of these are necessarily coming out this month. Hopefully, with the 150th quest, that isn't true, but who knows? And I don't like the sound of that Junk Quest. It'll probably be similar to In Pyre Need or the beacon quest. Short and with the only point of it being the reward.
  22. ...and straying into the whole updating late in the week or whenever the heck we feel like it, so stop whining babies, other games don't update much, be glad for what you have, territory. You know, the place that looks like the world of a dystopian future. 1) I'm not whining you [bleep] idiot 2) All I said was I came home expecting another update, I am not mad, I completely understand how jagex works, but I am ready to jump into another fun update, thats all. Got a [bleep] problem with that? 3) what the [bleep] are you talking about dystopian future? I don't know if your trying to be serious or funny or what, but next time use english 1. Calm down, I didn't say you were. 2. It was a joke. I have not problem with what you said. 3. Dystopian is a word. It's often used in science fiction. It describes a world that is usually desolate and man has revoked rights, is enslaved, or has reverted to savage primacy. Look at Idiocracy, Warhammer 40k, and 1984 for examples. Look here for more proof: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dystopia

  24. Thanks for the info! A little late as I already have full Ringmaster, but this could become an invaluable tool for others. Especially because the rules for that Distraction are the vaguest thing Jagex has ever released...
  25. Because Jagex knows if they allowed Brawling Gloves' date=' half the clans would be trying to recruit me and whichever one I signed up for would wtfpwn everyone  [hide=Current Brawlers'] [/hide] Heard about this yesterday, looking forward to it. Divination is probably going to own skilling up. EDIT: Well looking at it, SnC could too, but Divination has a lot of the hiscores records already... The wars will definitely be interesting. Either DI, DF, or Corr will win IMO. EDIT: oh yeah... MERCH CHEF HATS!!! :twss: Jesus. How many lives have you taken for those gloves? Enough to appease the Aztec Sun god and stave off Armageddon for a few more years.
