RuneScapes largest quest 2date Return Of Lucien... or WGS?
Wait the stone was unguarded I wonder. Actually I think it was said somewhere that he was the first non deity to have discovered the location of the Stone of Jas. I think before it was there Zammy was the one who found it at the ToG site it was at previously. I can see it now: The latest in anti-God protection, magical shields, atheist missiles, an interlocking grid of doors programmed to close at the slightest whiff of divine magic, etc. And then an unassuming caveman, presumably attempting to stay warm and sheltered, wanders into the cave and sees the big glowing stone. He decides to touch it. After all the hoo-haa is over, Guthix goes, "Holy Crap! We gotta protect this thing better!" and whips up the balance elemental.

Jagex being Ignorant? RWT Related
Nope, I never said Jagex was perfect. What I DO think is that they as a company, with hundreds of highly intelligent individuals, are smarter then some teenager ranting about his favorite activity being changed. When you see the same kind of post several thousand times, you start to get annoyed. If a fly buzzes around your head once while your trying to sleep, you roll over and don't think any more of it. If it buzzes around 10,000 times, your liable to get out a newspaper and swat it every time it appears. This is true. But Omali fights fire with kerosene, i.e. he goes into troll mode and insults the person he's talking to. You, on the other hand, seem to get overly defensive but do so in a manner which contributes to the discussion and proves your point. And I can understand why you do so. Anyhoo, back to the topic at hand... which I really have nothing to add to. Except to ask if it appears Jagex, between this and tightening BH security, is reembarking on a RWT inquisition.

Jagex being Ignorant? RWT Related
Not a chance, I rarely post without contributing to the discussion. A heck of a lot better then most H&A threads where 9 out of 10 of the posters didn't bother to read past the title, are simply repeating something mentioned earlier, or are dead wrong. On topic: I was COMPLETELY right. Search raw bird meat in the RSOF, it's being bought for well over 100 gp. Check out threads like 59-60-333-58485561. I win :P So you were. I concede defeat. But will this continue after all the surplus is bought up? And how many people are selling? Furthermore, this sort of proves that Jagex really doesn't care about junk trading, having just created a junk market for the summoning second for one of the most popular familiars.

Or people will just buy from the stores, wasting their valuable time, instead of forcing other, often lower level, players to make the junk to trade with.

Is this game worth playing anymore?
I don't know if it's getting better- that's a matter of opinion. It is getting bigger, but it always has been.

3rd March 2009 - Deposit-all feature and more + Patch Notes
But, this is a very lackluster update. The bank tabs and search engine released last year was a true improvement- this is just a piddling little tweak that has a minimalistic impact on the gaming experience. When I heard this was going to be a fix-it/improvement year, I was pleased. But the largest improvement released so far was the Random Removal- something promised early last year. Or maybe even in December 07. The only other that came close was the removal of the censor and I have very mixed feelings about that. And saying that other games don't update nearly as frequently is not a good idea. As anyone who compares Runescape to another game in a negative way can attest, players constantly say Runescape is not other games. If we want to go that route, why not ask why Runescape's combat is so antiquated compared to WoW or AoR? Or why other games have free markets and we don't? And so on and so forth. Although I agree we don't have the need for something big EVERY week, the content updates I've seen recently have been... repugnant to me. The only quest of the year was a tutorial for a new Distraction, and the rest were minigames and more Distractions. True, we're only two months in, but so far I've been very disappointed and have seen no reason to renew membership. And this glorified patch does nothing to change that. There have been a good number of extremely helpful tweaks and fixes this year, and I believe Brianite's main point was that we can't expect a big update every week. Do you really play Runescape for the updates? There's already an overwhelming amount of things to do in this game. Unless you're maxed, played and "beat" every minigame (4k Chompy kills, CW gold armor, etc), have your quest cape, can solo every boss sans CB, and own an Elysian/Divine shield, I see no reason to complain that we didn't get horses this week. But huge chunks of the content don't appeal to me- I have no need to max my stats, and "beat" every minigame. I play Runescape for fun and, if content has no appeal to me, I see little reason to indulge in it. Plus, without any BTS to show future content, I have no idea when or if any future updates will make up for current lackluster updates like this, which are naught but an afterthought to the truly amazing bank re-haul of last year.[/hide] ^ I really don't understand why you feel the need to complain about this weeks update. If you don't like it then don't use it. Let Jagex do what they want with their game. Oh, and ctrl+f "lackluster" in your last three posts pl0x. Why do I feel the need to complain about this update? Because I don't like it. Because I feel it was useless and could have been thrown in with the bank overhaul last year. Oh, and great use of logic. They own the game, let them do what they want. Why complain about anything? Horrid quality control? Don't complain, they own the game, they can do what they want. A renewed War on Bottism? Don't complain, they own the game, they can do what they want. Unfair bannings? Don't complain, they own the game, they can do what they want. That argument can justify anything, although, in comparison to the issue at hand, the examples given are greatly exaggerated. And I like lackluster. It perfectly describes this update. Not really bad, but it has no shine, no excitement. Ergo, it lacks luster.

Lagging on my Own Server Location? Grr.
It isn't Jagex's problem, the vast majority of people don't lag on the servers. The problem is his end, or between his end and Jagex. It's like calling up Jagex and saying 'the internet is slow! fix it!' But he's complaining that he's lagging MORE on a AUSTRALIAN server, the country in which he lives, than a CANADIAN server. And, last time I checked, no Australian location is farther from another Australian location than it is from Canada.

Really? They're messing with prices? But didn't Andrew himself say Junk Trading was fine, or did I dream that along with the tap-dancing cheeses? Or was that a Muppet Show skit...

Another Anti-Gameplay Update from Jagex
Bloody hellfire! You lot are acting like children- grow up. I understand that the original post may have been a bit too... strongly worded, but at least it was legible and eloquent. He even had reasons for his logic and, though he was brusque, maybe even rude, no one respected it as they should have. Instead of a discussion we got a flame war and, when a moderator stepped in, people said it was his fault, not theirs. Admittedly, both sides are at fault, for and against. So let's defuse the situation before this Bomb-omb blows up and we suffer the embarrassment of watching Mario die on the first level, shall we? Oh, and certain individuals claimed our esteemed OP was a troll. But those, or should I say that, individual has proved himself to be the same. Rudely editing his opposition's comments to mock him and, when others respond to those remarks, he feels like a Pokemon whose fellow has used beat-up- he MUST join in. With an insulting, non-contributing statement, nonetheless. So shape up, all of you!

Oh how I miss you BTS...
How often has this happened? (I can only think of Mobilizing Armies) Anyone remember Wilderness Tag? : Along with the Boar... Summoning batch two... and the Evil Tree was delayed a week. Exactly what I was going to say. Since I quit paying several months ago, I've been using the BTS to see whether I want to become a member again or not. With nothing catching my eye so far, well, I don't. But without anymore BTS I won't know if I want to until the day of a particularly good update. And we have lost something with the BTS: accountability. Well, Jagex has. With no timetable, and without having to post regular Development Diaries, Jagex can postpone updates all they want. New players will not know the difference.

27th February - Temporary Closure of Bounty Hunter Craters
So, what? They're going on the warpath to eliminate RWT again? Maybe not, but if they try to do this in Bounty Hunter, it will be a ridiculous move. I don't like Non safe PvP much, but, from what I heard, a negligible amount of RWTs use it. And the RWTs in question are probably not gold farmers. At least, not in the sense that they use credit cards to pay for membership and run sweat shops. So, if they decide to drastically change Bounty Hunter, it might be a sign that Jagex may be willing to destroy huge chunks of the game to eradicate as much RWT as possible. And, without BTS to show us future updates, they may decide to continue the elimination. I'm not saying they're going to, but they might. P.S. Those who question why anyone plays when they dislike huge portions of the game, would you quit just because of one really boneheaded, really horrendous update? Say, if Jagex created a ridiculously fast and simple way to train a beloved skill?

The crash code - µ
They fixed it in hours. You guys kinda overreacting, you should watch Arby N' the Chief episode "Glitch". There we go! All she needed was a lick of paint, and she's good as new!
-
God Swords? Why just God Swords?
"GRAAAH! I CRUSH YOU PUNY HUMAN!!!" "Not so fast!" Schwing, schlop! Schwing, schlop! "GRAAAH!!! MY HANDS!!!" Character equips Severed Godfists "Now I'ma punch ALL your blood out!" "NOOOOOOO!!!"

The crash code - µ
I believe this may have been a parting gift from the randoms- though some remain, the one's who left felt like they should repay us in kind.

Are parent too harsh on Jagex? or misunderstood?
Most pathetic news article since that lovely Fox special over the dangerous domestic terrorist group "Anonymous." I think that this is just another sign of how, at least in the technology sector, conventional media is being usurped by the internet, where people KNOW what they're talking about.

Adventure quest leeching off jagex's ideas?
I also wanted to mention that it appears that Mechscape is leeching off of Warhammer 40k. Why? Multiple pictures appear to have Tau architecture and the drones in front look very much like Earth Caste builders. See? I can do it too.

16th February 2009 - Your RuneScape Questions Answered
To paraphrase Hamlet: What are you reading that is making you so happy? Words, words, words. In other words, this looks good, but talk is cheap. I want some REAL evidence. The only thing that's happened under his reign so far, aside from Free to Play video adverts being removed, is February's updates being bumped back a week. This has nothing to do with him, of course, but I could just as easily judge him based on that as I could on what he has said so far.

Melle, huh? Isn't that a frosting? Like marzipan, but for those with weak constitutions?

Tip.It Times: 15 Feb 2009 "Mark Gerhard & Scams Addressed"
They didn't just phone me up randomly, it was arranged first via e-mail. It's not like they have me on speed-dial, they just wanted to open up communications with MechScape World prior to the launch of the game. What's that in your signature? "Trust but verify?" I think I'll do that, thank you very much. We need some verification before we believe you.

Tip.It Times: 15 Feb 2009 "Mark Gerhard & Scams Addressed"
The first article was amazing. It was amazing how much undeserved praise the author managed to heap upon the new CEO. True, he removed video adverts. But come ON. That was a minor update that ONLY affected Free Players. And everything else he's done so far? Affirmed Runescape is not for kids and told us that Free to Play is not a demo. Great, freakin' job. All that other stuff he promised could simply be lip service and we won't find out for several months without the BTS to tell us what's coming. Don't get me wrong. He could be the best thing for Runescape since RS2 rolled around. But I can't help but be skeptical. People have compared him to Obama. He has promised change and everyone's really, really, really excited about that. But maybe, like Obama, his promises will be delayed and given the qualifier "maybe." In the end, the first article was an excellent display of counting your chickens before they hatch. P.S. That fantastic amount paid out to each customer service employee? That's about as much as the average U.S. teacher makes. A profession which is notorious for being the lowest paying degree requiring job. The second article was good, but a wee bit short. It told us how scams have affected Runescape's development. Very good!

We don't need ":)".
Lay off the guy. I happen to agree with what he's saying. I.e., that things like using symbol smiley faces and trying to sound hip make this sound like just another lame corporate attempt at gaining children's favor. It feels false and patronizing. Now, it may be that he's totally honest. But this sort of talk lends a "I'm one of you guys and not, in any way, shape, or form, a soul sucking corporate vampire who only sees you as future pounds and pence. Now, let's go shred some mad pipes, dudes!!!"
