What makes you say that? Personally, I'm by far more inclined to say that ethnicity has more to do with a shared cultural tradition than with genetic phenotypes. Even before I ran "ethnic" through wikipedia and dictionary.com. And isn't ascribing a cultural identity to people based on looks somewhat prejudiced? (I've been thinking a lot about this recently, because there's a guy taking classes with me that "looks" Korean. But he speak skÃÆÃâÃâÃÂ¥nska, a swedish dialect assosciated with the southern part of Sweden. Basically, if anyone with that dialect talks fast enough, a fair part our contry's population won't get squat all. It's a very distinctive Swedish dialect.) Never said it was all looks. I also included language, accent, and dialect in there. Cultures are a facet of ethnicity though, not a prime factor.

In all honesty, in today's globalized world, ethnicity and geographical locations aren't the same thing. It's possible to trace your genetics to a specific location, sure, but as to where you're "from"... If you spent your life growing up in a country, isn't that where you're "from" rather than some weird place one of your ancenstors lived in a generation of three ago? (Possibly not quite relating to the topic, but I thought whoever brought it up on page 1 made an interesting point) That's merely a debate between ancestry and nationality. Ethnic-wise I am Irish, but I have lived in America all my life. Does that make me American or Irish? The answer is both. I am from America, but my background is Irish. Ethnicity is ancestry. America is a single nation, but has hundreds of ethnicities. All are considered American in a nationalistic sense. But each has thier own geographical and cultural identity that makes up thier ethnicity.
  3. They have about 25 employees on the Content team under Paul. They work on approximately 7-10 updates at any time simultaneously. The last quest: Darkness of Hollowvale, took them 7.5 months to complete. Trust me, they are working on things, and it is amazing that we manage to get in two updates a month!
  4. I really hope you didn't pay the money they asked for Hobgoblin. Many churches in the Baptist and Methodist denominations refer to thier congregations as ministers, to go out and minister the Word to the world. By just attending a church, you become a minister. And no, you are not Clergy. At least not in any major Christian denomination. Most of these denominations require ordained ministers, which means at least 4 years at a Seminary. Without that degree, you would pretty much be a heretic to marry people or preach to them.

Merciful, American is not an ethnicity yet :P. I can tell between Germans, Norwegions, British, French, Spanish, Porteuguese, Irish, Scottish, etc. There are many factors to take into account. I for one am of mixed ancestry of Irish and Cherokee so some people have problems picking out my ethnicity. There is only ethnicity, there is no race. There is but a human race. Sure, it's hokey, but it's true. We are all the same under the skin, we all bleed the same color, and aside from minor genetics relating to geographical location, our structures are the same.
  6. Have you read "The Visitation?" I haven't read the book, but the movie was very impressive.
  7. "The Case for Christ" by Lee Strobel, a very respected journalist. It is very intelligent and full of nothing but facts, while most religious debates deviate into fiction.
  8. What's funny is that most demonimations consider all of it's members to be ministers. It's not really a religious title.

The African ones would be a little more difficult, but I could probably piece it together from thier accents. Telling ethnicities is simple, it's mostly facial features. The way the eyes, nose, and eyebrows come together can tell you a lot about a person.

That's just lazy. I can usually tell what country someone comes from (no matter what race). It takes a bit of learning.
  11. It's a decent guide, I enjoyed reading it. It gives a lot of insight. Parents should be aware of what thier children are playing.
  12. When I first saw Varrock, I was amazed by it's grandeur and size (and I was even 16 at the time!). Four years later, my dragons are dissapearing. I rarely even visit Varrock anymore to use the intricate web of teleportations. We need wonder, and mystery. I completed over 75% of my quests without a guide, and the ones I used it for were not fun at all. I remember stumbling through the dark jungles of Karamja, doing Legends with no guide. The fun, excitement and wonder! I believe that TIF should institute a policy of not publishing quest guides until about 2 weeks after the quest is released, and hastily quashing attempts otherwise. Let everyone experience the fun of the hunt, instead of just going through steps like robots.
  13. I for one will not support that suggestion until something is given for those of us with 80+ in a combat stat. I also think such prestigious armor should not be just continuations of what we already have. For example, the ranger armor should shy away from hides. Maybe something of a lightly armored jacket imbued with nature's elements. The mage armor should be along the lines of splitbark, but much more powerful. And warrior armor should definately look like Sir Prysin's new appearance.
  14. I like Lunar, it is a lot different than modern. You rise up into the air, then an animation similar to the tablet forms, except much larger.
  15. The coal is not combined with the iron, it is used as fuel for the furnace to heat it high enough to purify the iron. Real life steel is made with iron and coal, just not put together. Runescape is accurate in that regard.
  16. Wait a week or two, and the 3rd Temple Knight quest will come out :).
  17. Tonight in Red Orchestra Ostfront 41-45 I was the gunner in a Panther tank. A Soviet shell knocked out the tread and engine, and my driver and MG ditched the tank. I turned my crippled tank into a pillbox and destroyed 14 T-34's and IS-2's before they finally managed to line up a good angle on me.
  18. Luckily for you, Advisor Grimh has authored a book called "Managing Thine Kingdom for Noobes." Simply talk to him and he will give it to you.
  19. Combat 98 just for you. And if I get 5 str levels, it will be 99.

He forced people to follow his laws, worship by his rules, and practice his religion which in almost every sense violated United States law. It is a sham that he was even allowed to set up his community in the first place, and I feel sorry for all the people trapped there. The same can be said for all religions. SOMEONE made up the rules and people who follow the religion, obviously must follow the rules... I don't want to bash religion, but honestly...Do people even think before they say some things? These people may have indeed been insane, but they're no more insane than the guy down the street who's walking to chruch to praise a dead man who may or may not been insane himself (would you believe someone today who said they were God's son? Noooo...We know better...) and a diety who has never once proved he exsists. The only difference is your book is older than his and more people follow it, thus making it more "real" somehow. Like I said, those people most likely were insane...But are you saying that you're absolutely NOT insane for having YOUR beliefs? [it should be said that by "your" I do not mean yours personally, as I dunno' your beliefs, if you have any at all, but anyone who follows any religion and has the mind to call others "crazy" for having different beliefs. Also, I'm not saying that I don't believe in any particular religion. I'm saying that to call somene else crazy for having their beliefs because they differ from yours is rather ignorant, even if they ARE crazy. Some call Muslims crazy, but they're just following what they (extremist muslims) believe.] Oh, and I don't think those people were "trapped" there. He didn't kidnap them. They died because they strongly believed something to be true. So I was talking about the legal aspect of the Utah cult, what are you going on about? It's like you went off on a huge rant based off of my past posting patterns, even though I went out of my way to stay on topic here. But hey, I have learned my lesson. Any thread in this board that has anything to do with religion undoubtedly turns into a massive flame holy war.
  22. The economy would not crash! In fact, it would flourish! The economy crashing would be if they just dropped party hats again! By removing the billions from the game, they will eliminate inflation and raise the value of the GP. As someone else said, smithing would be extremely profitable as Barrows and Dragon prices would rise (good for those of us who only hold back selling thier barrows armor because of the awful prices). Rune would once again be the mainstay of the armor market, and a rush of new 85 smithers would form. Items found in shops would not rise, for obvious reasons. I can foresee prices of goods such as Essence, ores (especially coal) and other raw goods rising, in turn stimulating the economy. It would not be a radical pain to the economy, and if all the idiots spending billions on a 3 GP paper hat quit I for one would not cry. (No offense to the hat owners, but I have worn every rare...it is not really that impressive and party hats look dumb. Their only value comes from the pocketbook.) Of course, within 3 years the economy would be jacked again due to over-alchemy.

  24. Not really. Using Internet explorer to go to a certain site is illegal? You are not using a third-party program, you are using the RS interface. As long as you play it through a normal browser or the Official client, you are fine.
  25. Don't worry, there is nothing offensive about any of that! :) Unfortunately, it seems that the Giant is rolling over and going back to sleep, as it were. I remember my thoughts and reactions on that day. I thought it was a freak accident until I watched the second plane hit with 34 of my classmates. Anger, fear, pain, anguish, sorrow... It was truly a defining moment in history, even if people are starting to forget.
