Jmod quote from RSOF regarding real world trading
There is another way to resolve it which is very simple... Just do so that only people within 10 Combat levels of each other can stake each other -.- Since 95% (or more) of all real world item traders are Combat level 3. I've posted this solution many times, I gotta admit. No, that doesn't work. You don't know the exact levels of real-world traders (as it was implied earlier, a level 50-something could have done it too), so it would only create more fodder for players to complain with. @Lordkrohn: We're both on the same page of why we don't like players buying gold. I just don't believe that "most" players buy their gold online. Not unless I can see some hard evidence.

Jmod quote from RSOF regarding real world trading
What do we lose? our cash....wonder why the Dragon Ful helm is around 50 mil? because ppl have it and are willing to spend it, because they have more money then brains, and most bought it from cheat sites. I refuse to believe you can legitamently make 1 billion gp with a character who has 500 total stats.....I could care less about paper hats, but look at the prices....585+ mil for the highest one.....come on....RL gp buying is the reason. They ARE hurting the legit players.... If by 'cash' you mean the $5-65 you spent on membership this month/year, then that cash was as good as spent anyway. Even if you didn't buy RuneScape membership with it, you most certainly could have bought something else, either something you wanted or needed as an adult. If by 'cash' you mean your RuneScape GP, then your current example doesn't exactly back that theory up well. The Dragon Full Helmet is so expensive because it's hard to get the resources to fight Mithril Dragons and get them as a drop (or get chewed bones for a drop). The reason that partyhats are so expensive is because of their rarity; their prices have been going up and up and up since 2002, and that's honestly the nature of a rare item. By the way, you claim that someone that buys a Dragon Full Helmet has 'more money than brains' and got their money from a RS gold site. Are you calling people cheaters without any proof? And we're talking players with 1875+ total here.

Staking riot
Let me all help you get your facts straight: The SwiftSwitch riot did nothing to sway Jagex's stance on it. Only constructive and well-formed arguments against their decision did. This riot won't do anything to sway Jagex's stance either, but it sure did highlight one glaring aspect of the game: we can't accept change. I realize now that staking has been practically killed, but for a player that doesn't stake...ever, I couldn't see the harm in it. Allow me to share my views, if you would -- keep in mind I'm not trying to sound biased or anything like that. The staking community makes up a portion of the community as a whole. This portion could be thought of as perhaps 27,000 players. These 27,000 players sculpt and design characters specifically for one task, and one task only, much like pures. Only thing is that these players also come into literally billions of gp. It could be argued (and seen) that these players take hundreds of hours to get to where they are, but a skiller could also do the same thing in hundreds of hours. (Only thing is that said skiller makes substantially less.) The Dueling Arena has changed forever, but if you're going to go out and riot like it's the end of the world, then you should quit. Last thing we need is a whole bunch of "mature" players acting like brats when something changes the game up.

Someone spilled coffee again? Some logging servers offlin..
That rumor is as good as the next persons'. It's honestly like someone from here saying that it was Andrew's cat that pulled the plug. Seriously, wait until an official response. Don't give me this 'they're covering their tracks' crap, either.

Training Combat is impossible; too crowded
Typically, even if I had to fight through the rangers, I'd kill for a Fire Giant task. 111 Slayer experience a pop, and I usually get stuck with 179 or so. Trust me, when you reach 85 Slayer (where I'm at now), you'll fight to the death for assignments like those.
-
Training Combat is impossible; too crowded
Do you see the problem with all of those training spots? They're places that players use to grind levels without giving a damn about drops or other levels or anything like that. Stop trying to train like a pure; you've got much more potential than that. Try training Slayer. Bloodvelds, Abberants, and Dust Devils all give fantastic experience, and many times aren't too crowded, either.

Ugh..... P.C. stupidity...
1. Not everyone's experienced Pest Control. Bear with it. 2. Not everyone uses Pest Control to level. Anywhere in RuneScape is better leveling than that place. 3. Just because you're ten levels higher means diddly squat. You could have such a high level, but be lacking the maturity and coherence we'd expect from a person ten levels higher than myself.

5 minutes in f2p world
Ignoring the situation is ten times better than being upset or hurling insults at them, you know. It's hypocritical to say how much worse freeplay has become if you let a mere handful of the players represent the majority.

Graphics Update Anyone?
Java can do some pretty decent graphics, but a very good reason as to why they won't is so that the game itself can be played on a wide spectrum of computers. That, and drivers vary on how they are written from OS to OS (and I use Linux most of the time, and they don't have many [of the same] drivers [that Windows users enjoy] for their OS -- I blame the manufacturers). If you asked me, I'd rather not buy an entirely new machine just to play some online game. I figure I can play Chess online and not need half the graphics card. :D Plus, if any game forced me to play it outside of Wine, it wouldn't be worth the time to me.
-
Stop the seriousness!
Don't look now; you're being ironic. I agree with you; seriousness needs to be put aside if only to enjoy the game as is.

Massive price hikes in logs.
You can't control the rising cost of goods like you could control the sun from setting. If you don't like it, go get those items yourself. Honestly, there's not much else you can do since you're going to be dealing with high prices no matter where you go...
-
Trading me just to see an item! GRR!
No, the Knowledge Base doesn't have pictures of every item in the game in it. Especially if it's still relatively new (i.e. 3rd Age, Godsword, etc). My advice to you is to show patience when dealing with new/expensive items. There's be some looky-loos at first, but just wait for the crowds to die down and you'll have a real buyer after a while.

"Runescape : an education that kids don't need?"
Seems like this editor took one extreme and ran with it. Seriously, he needs to learn to look on the bright side. Jagex can't be held responsible for kids that get to their site somehow. That's the parent's responsibility. Kinda wish people would stop pinning it on Jagex. It isn't like they can install a filter on everyone's computer...

Grand Exchange: Your thoughts?
First of all, even if this is the Internet, it does not mean you can just ignore facts and credentials. Qeltar was resisting putting out his own credentials to avoid what you would say here, and apparently it wouldn't have mattered either way. To me, that's genuinely pathetic -- how can you call him a braggart when you yourself have in your signature the number of Party Hat sets you own? Yeah, hi kettle. This is the pot calling... Second, you only derive hatred and jealousy from your own posts. What is being said is opinion, being backed up by facts and real-world inferences. A fact is that rares are worth tens of millions of in-game currency; an opinion is that they are the backbone of the economy. Let me tell you something: You don't know jack. A backbone is a central part of anything, be it an animal or a particular trade. Basically, it's something along the lines of an absolute need; something that everyone at some point in their lives will have to use. I haven't had to use a rare, nor have I really cared about them. I have had to use sharks, monkfish, ore, bars, and feathers -- all of which could be seen as the backbone of the RS economy. Also, in regards to your other post, if you can't accept another person's point of view in a calm manner, without having to act like a fool, then there's no need for you to post on a public forum. Act like that in private.

MechScape- Is a new MMORPG a good idea for JaGex?
First, the only real way that this game would affect the RS community is if a large number of players from the RS community went to that game instead. Even then it wouldn't make much of an impact. I doubt they'd have some cockamamie rule that said you can't have an account on both games. Second, the problems that exist in RuneScape can be resolved, but not just as quickly or easily as many of us would like them to be. Creating a new game doesn't solve a damn thing; just creates a host of new problems for another platform. Third, and using the Blizzard example, neither Starcraft[iI], Diablo II, or WoW/Warcraft have damaged one another when they were announced, developed or released. Each has its own communities, with members playing one or more of those games. None of those games really has had any serious decline in their quality, that I'm aware of (Starcraft II is in development, and Battle.net is being maintained seriously well). Finally, if a company is going good with a platform, why not extend it? Everything from sequels to expansion packs have been an intrinsic part of our gaming experience. While MechScape can't be considered an expansion of RuneScape, it certainly does not mean that RuneScape won't be receiving nearly as much attention as this new game (since, and this is quite smart, companies usually hire separate staff to handle each game).

Runescape being used as a pawn.
Only thing that concerns me with this article is that the parent hasn't reported [to the press] any plans on breaking up this kids' habit. Sure, he said he spends hours a day playing it, and wishes he'd do something more constructive, but what's stopping him from being a parent and putting his foot down?

Grand Exchange: Your thoughts?
Let me spell it it out for you: manipulation via propagation. Your influence had enough effect to the other merchants to have them do something similar to what you were doing, and it snowballed. It's okay that English isn't your first language, but please, know the meaning of a word before you use it so liberally.

RuneScape - How it would've been...
If high or low level alchemy weren't introduced into the game, fletchers would be hit hardest. Crafters wouldn't really mind it much, but it wouldn't be as bad a burden on them as much. Know why? Enchant spells at level 4 and above give more experience than alchemy. Even below that, you could very easily kick back and enchant things lower than that, since cosmics are one of the easiest runes to get (and one of the cheaper ones, too).

Grand Exchange: Your thoughts?
The rare market isn't the backbone of our economy. It's a part of it, but it isn't an absolutely vital part to it. The only purposes that rares serve is to hold wealth and show off wealth. For myself, I could do without such a luxury, and so could tens of thousands of other players. Now, the raw material market (fish, ore, bars, wood, feathers) ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ those can be perceived as the backbone, since players will actually use those [or the derivative of their finished product] at one point in their game career. A partyhat only either sits in the bank or is worn on the head. Not used in combat situations or used to level as you would use 80,000 Maples for firemaking (although it's inferred that a partyhat provides the funds for most leveling. That's true, but it's not like you buy a partyhat to level a certain skill with anyway). Besides, there's only so much money that a player can hold at once. With literally the entire RuneScape community at the trading forefront (instead of 2,000), it's impossible to buy out every tradegood and/or rare. Doing so would not only be fruitless, it would leave you bankrupted for a good while, until you made use of those goods you had. Monopolization of any good in RuneScape is impossible. For the first matter, 99% of the goods in the game can be easily be reharvested or reacquired ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ this includes things like a normal log to a Dragon Helmet. Granted, there are limited supplies of items in the game, but that is not to say that they are constrained by only those numbers. In the only arena that a monopoly could ever be conducted, the rares market, Jagex would almost certainly intervene. One player trying to corner the rares market would mean that rares shoot up to an astronomical price (easily over 1B), and as such, no player with a reasonable amount of wealth could repurchase or resell one of these. Even if they were to succeed, Jagex would intervene in the manner of suspending/banning that player (or players). Directly influencing the economy in such a large scale effort is seen as a violation of Rule 2. By the way, monopoly comes from Latin, meaning ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬Åone ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ many̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ

Where's My Warning!?
If you know you're in the wrong, then what's the point of arguing the fact? Didn't you read the Rules? You know, you agreed to them when you created your account...

Online dating etc...
I honestly can't care about RuneScape relationships if I know that: A) There is a 1 in 25 chance that I'll actually find a legitimate girl in RuneScape. B) They don't bother me; much easier to ignore and be on my way. C) I can always go outside and get a relationship with a girl. D) Caring about people that have RuneScape relationships is pointless, since even if you told them your own "good advice", they wouldn't give much of a damn anyway. E) It's a reportable offense; anyone with half a mind can report them and be on their way instead of dwelling on them.

Merchanters aren't Real Characters
Some merchants aren't that positive for the game, but I'll argue the fact that it's your own fault that you were ripped off. Little do people realize that if they take their time through the trading process, including (but not limited to!) talking to friends about prices, checking price guides, and double-checking EVERY screen, they can avoid being swindled or being outmaneuvered. In all reality, merchanting isn't technically a skill, however it requires a lot of work anyway. Sure, they don't really do a damn thing for you or I, but they're free to play the game as they see fit. You can't change that like you can't change the fact that pures of all sorts and kinds exist. Death Hippy, we're talking about in-game skill. In-game skill lets you get all the good stuff, all the money, and all of that takes time. Realize the subject before you go runnin' off at the mouth, okay?

Do we need a new membership option? Hourly ...
Unfortunately you can't go off of the "average" time that a player plays, since that average will vary dramatically from person to person. Unlike the electric and gas companies, which actually have meters to measure how much of each you use monthly [and then bill you], Jagex won't resort to such a thing. That's because they rely on the lump sum of payments from members to make their ends meet. Besides, membership costs $0.17 USD a day. Per hour that's about $0.005667. I'd rather earn the $5 all at once than the half-cent, thank you very much.

Should JAGeX start selling Membership Cards?
Don't be so doggone paranoid of the kids. They have as much a right to play this game as an adult has. Anyway, I don't think it'd be a good idea. Namely because of how easy it would be to get these cards into the hands of those that seek to sell RS gold online...this would only make it easier for them.
