  1. Alright, so it is inferred that since Summoning affects overall Combat, it will be a freeplay skill. [since A affects B, B will be C]. Let's break that down. Consider that Summoning will be in terms, similar to Prayer (requiring 8.25 levels to gain one combat level). Since we don't know about the special attacks of a summoned NPC, I can't say for certainty that a level 126 with 99 Prayer is any stronger or weaker than a 126 with 99 Summoning. Consider also the possibility of it not being open to freeplayers. A 126 on freeplay becomes no more statistically different than a 138 fighting against one-another. It'd be something akin to having 95 thieving on freeplay; some awesome bragging rights, but does you very little good while playing the game. One should also consider the places that many of these spoilers have taken us. Almost always, you can trace a key aspect of Summoning heavily to Members. You can do the same with Runecrafting too, but no mission-critical parts of it can be found in freeplay. The major thing is that if it is not freeplay, it won't change a thing. A 126 with 99 summoning on freeplay is going to be at a statistical disadvantage to a 126 with 99 prayer. If it is, and 4-7 million players begin summoning familiars, may God have mercy on those servers.
  2. I don't agree with this, and I don't see how you can say things so confidently about a skill that's not here yet. Basically what you said is that there's no difference in fighting someone with maxed melees without prayer, and with 99 prayer. There IS a difference. Did you misread that? I'm only talking about a 126 versus a 138, you know, not any sort of conjured up pure combat level. What I was going for was that having level 138 on freeplay might do as much good as having 97 Herblore on freeplay. Bragging rights, yes; usefulness, no.
  3. Consider the following. 1. What advantage would Summoning add to your combat level on free? It isn't like a booster skill similar to Prayer. In effect, you'd be summoning monsters to fight alongside of you, but there's a good chance that it would be restricted or outlawed in Bounty Hunter/Dueling. 2. Having 138 combat on freeplay won't make a difference. Since that level doesn't reflect overall strength, hits, prayer, etc (already at 99), it'd be no different than fighting a 126. 3. Just because it affects combat doesn't mean that it will be a freeplayer skill.
  4. Just because it affects combat level doesn't mean that it will become a freeplay skill.
  5. Sorry you got put out of work, but if you can't figure out a way to survive without calling for a boycott of the GE, then you're in the wrong business.
  6. Treasure chests in POHs have already been nixed to about 5K a piece max.
  7. Of course, you have to ask yourself - is the replacement of the old with the new good or bad? Are the new players worse than the old ones? Less mature? Less kindly? That sort of thing. You should also realize that a player isn't "good", "mature", "better", or "kinder" overnight when they make the jump to Members, either. Give it time and they'll prove their worth in one category or another.
  8. Toning them down a bit (especially on freeplay) isn't such a bad idea. Of course, they were made to replace PKers, but something that can hit constantly high with really decent armor is over the top.
  9. They work absolutely fine for me, but let me go ahead and try this trick. Windows: Hold down the Windows key and press R, and then type in "cmd". This will take you to the prompt. From there, you should type in ipconfig /flushdns. If that doesn't resolve the situation, open it again (if you closed it) and type in ipconfig /release, then ipconfig /renew. Mac: Networking in Mac without AppleTalk? :P (I dunno; never messed with it before. Sorry.) *nix (Gentoo, Fedora, Ubuntu et al): Open up your trusty terminal and type in ifconfig eth0 down. Then type in ifconfig eth0 up. That should take care of most of it.
  10. Kind of like natural progressions or even watching the skin on your forearm. For every bit of old that flakes off, new is already in the queue to replace it.
  11. Putting your personal hatred of PKers aside, I play this game because I still enjoy it. Updates change various aspects of the game, but as long as I'm having fun I'll still play it. Not many groups of people outside of RWT really affected my gameplay though.
  12. It's been near three years since that item came into existence (and in truth, a lot less with the new design), and no one's caught it until now. Don't worry about it -- imperfections in the pixel art (such as RS items) make them what they are.
  13. Overreacting to this is akin to people jumping out of buildings during the depression; sure, it's a bit over the top, but once you're off the ledge, there's no turning back.
  14. About 230,000 players were online this past Saturday, which is only 20,000 shy of its previous record of 250K. Dead? Maybe in your eyes. Perhaps you shouldn't be wearing the blindfold while running through a forest, eh?
  15. Using the personal account to circumvent the interplayer effects of RWT is impractical enough that it could be seen as negligible. The player in question will undoubtedly get banned instead of thinking they got away with it for months.
  16. Good evening. What I'd love to see for a character/signature design (honestly I was having my cousin LunaNuri design this, but she has a life now) is a concept that I've been brewing up since practically high school. Here goes -- let me know if I lose you. The character should be male, dark skinned (black male), with no facial hair, black eyebrows and long white hair. I'm not talking about girlish hair, I mean the following hairstyle exaggerated to near his armpits: Ignore virtually everything else on that picture, save for the skin tone -- it's not quite necessary. 90% of the stuff here is going to be concept anyway. The armor is the tricky part. It has to be as according: 1. No helmet. The kind of helmet hair this guy gets is insane. 2. The plate is actually going to be a variation of a double brassard. Here's a concept that I shopped with an image pulled from RuneWeb (of course, with their permission): The only problem with this concept is that it can't convey the appropriate curvature that humans (or even the RS avatars!) have. So in effect, since I don't have members at the moment (and I will replace this part with an image the second it goes through), picture a brassard on both arms instead of one. Major difference here is that the sides of the brassards do not appear nearly as exaggerated. Recall that a brassard if seen from the side ingame comes to just below eye level; mine need to be just below the chin. 3. The necklace that he wears is actually a specialized amulet. Kind of tough and tricky to get a good concept going (try as I might), but let's see what we get here. In effect, what I'm conveying here is the following: Dragonstones and Diamonds make up the perimeter, where in the center a very expensive Onyx rests gently. I'd prefer it if the necklace itself were circular or a teardrop-shaped (with the string being at the top of the 'drop'). 4. The leg armor is a hybrid concept between the Black Mystic robes and Ahrim's plateskirt. In effect, it will have a near-charcoal color (#232323) inside of it, with the plateskirt weaving inside as well. On the outside, a slight trim of crimson lines it, but make it so that it's a lot thinner than what's found on normal Mystic. The overall skirt would fall just below his knees. 5. The shoes are short-cut Dragon boots; not those giant things you see in the avatar image. Now, for the fun parts. The character's weapon will be held in his right hand over his shoulder, left arm not doing much of anything. It's a dragon 2h, only slightly modified. (Yet another image from RuneWeb, borrowed with permission). Instead of the obvious gap between the hilt and the blade (meaning that diamond-shaped thing), reduce that distance. From there, the sword will elongate until the very tip, where it becomes resemblant of the Bounty Hunter organizer: ...without the hook on the left. The hilt itself will be shaped pretty much like a phoenix. I'm rather partial to the first image with obviously less exaggeration, but this one is also good: http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/648/ ... cilhw3.gif Both would have to have their heads laying on the sword, immediately after the hilt itself. The pommel and grip are fine as they are, just adding slight medieval details. The cape is a ragged, trimmed Attack cape, blowing in the breeze. The overall pose for the character would be him with his sword, looking off into the distance (to his slight left). The background: Tirannwn, specifically of focus Arandar (with the mountain range chiefly to the backside). If I can find a decent reference picture, I'll get it to you. The sun is setting. EDIT: Nearly forgot the name: Makoto (or Makoto D). Leave it somewhere in the bottom right-hand corner. My preference is that you use the actual Japanese symbol for Makoto in lieu of the actual spelling of the name, but if you don't feel like it, then I can live with that. ------ I hope that challenges you enough. :D
  17. What would your answer have been if Jagex announced beforehand that they were going to clamp down on RWT? Would you have been euphorically behind it all the way, would have taken it with a grain of salt, or would you have been adamantly against it? Simply put, that's the type of categories that 'Scapers usually fall under -- they will either love it, respect it while questioning their motives, or throw a tantrum like a one year old. So then, with the obvious risk of people voting against this update, why would Jagex bother to ask us? Simple answer: We were quite ignorant of the matter -- what we saw in-game every day was only the pinky toe of this beast. Let's be frank here. How many amongst us actually knew the depth that RWT was going on in RuneScape? How many of us knew just how hard Jagex was fighting? How many of us actually understood that we wanted them gone? We didn't know how deep it was, and we still don't know the blunt majority of it -- what we got in the Development Diary was most likely the tip of the iceberg. We didn't know how hard Jagex was fighting against RWT, since we'd sooner accuse and insinuate that they were doing nothing to combat it while raking in the cash, thus accusing them of being money-greedy corporate types who don't care about their customers. That diary again only sheds some of the light on the matter. We didn't understand what we were asking to begin with -- not one of us realized how well they manipulated or abused the game with underhanded tactics, such as the Party Hall. The only reason that people are angry with this update is that they didn't understand it. Even now, after explanation, people still can't seem to understand. Doesn't matter much whether you get it 100% or not; you just have to realize the reason that Jagex did it -- for the greater good.
  18. This goes to prove that Jagex cares a lot more for the community/their players' feelings than everyone else here cares to believe. My god after reading that all I wanted to do is shout insults at that mod. Players who enjoy making money from the market are all but gone thanks to their wonderful changes. First, they do everything to destroy merhcanting then they talk abou tmerchants, pathetic. God im so irritated with this delibarte ignorance and throwing dust in our eyes to blind us from the truth. Not that it's any consequence Ego Scorpion, but I thought you said you were quitting. How long is it taking you to hit the big red "X"?
  19. Wow, that method still exists? I guess that you might have to live without it...it's a lot easier to bank in Burgh De Rott than it is to do that method now. That general store change happened due to possible arbitrage (buying low from a general store and selling higher on the Exchange).
  20. Trust me when I tell you that anyone who's stupid enough to pay someone to take their account deserves the permanent ban that would happen within sixteen hours. (Even with proxies, there are such a thing as netmasks that all ISPs hand out. You know anything about them? If not, why are you talking about networking like you think you know?)
  21. ...Did you forget that you can't take anything except combat-related equipment into Bounty Hunter?
  22. My question to you is, do you really know the definition of Communism? After hearing about all of these Communist nations and the origins (Marxism), I feel you're missing one important part. Not one of the people involved had a "choice" in the matter. That brings me to the quotes below. [/hide] They arent forcing me to play runescape no, and yes I CHOOSE to pay for it... However, I purchased a years worth of membership, with a guarantee that the quality of the game would remain constant... It obviously hasnt (and about a few million people agree with me)... Nothing did I state about Jagex being communist... I stated that they made trading in runescape communist... So thats already 2 mistakes you made... You then proceed to call me an idiot, just for having a different opinion then you? Go play neopets or something... You mean nothing to me and your words mean nothing to anyone... First of all, you didn't agree that the quality of the game would remain constant. You agreed to support their game to improve what quality they saw fit to improve. Next, the very fact that you have a choice in the matter means that this isn't any form of "government" except voluntary capitalism. You don't have to play the game, you know. You say that you didn't state Jagex was communist. Look at your title again and then tell me why someone would think that you think that Jagex is communist. At any rate, this argument fails since you do have a choice in the matter. If you don't like it, don't play -- if you still want to play, live with it.
  23. Hey, do you realize the obvious three mistakes you've made with that reasoning? 1. No RS player is going to be stupid enough to pay somebody ~$10 to take their account/level on it, just to get it banned within 72 hours. 2. Swapping accounts out from under different IPs is very detectable. That goes to prove what you know about networking/computers. 3. If they ranted about it, who would care? They broke the freaking rules anyway. With that said, time to face the music on this matter. Jagex: 1, RWT: 0.
  24. It must be a blue moon tonight, since I almost never agree with your editorials. However, this one is actually pretty concise, and I actually do like it. Good work. Maybe your head's on tighter than I thought it was at first :P
  25. I don't know if this quote is exactly what it says in the lotr books, but anyway, it's about the war between dwarves and orcs, which the dwarves had just won with great losses. Jagex has gone to far and has decided to ignore their players to destroy a few RWT'ers.NO excuses are good for the updates they did. They are a company, we are the customers. Without us, they wouldn't exist and Andrew wouldn't be making millions. You happen to forget that the "customers" have been so pissed off with autoers/RWTers before that they flooded the forums with rants, suggestions, and comments on what they were doing against them. Now they've put an end to what we asked them to put an end to, and you have the nerve to say they went "too far"? Do your homework on this matter. We wanted RWTers gone. They're gone now. Why aren't you satisfied?
