Does Free Trade entail No GE Buy limits?
Fools_Taco replied to tedbundty's topic in General Discussion
Thats like one guy buying all the condoms in north America and then charging every guy who might get lucky 25$ for one. He had 50b cashola and the means to do it, should he be allowed? Especially these days with the wacko republicans trying to make aborting federal business. Lulz. -
Why do you think Jagex made 99s Require so Much EXP?
Fools_Taco replied to Freakyhair's topic in General Discussion
The amount of hours dosent mean anything because anyone training that skill is doing it as s secondary task. They are watching TV. -
Why do you think Jagex made 99s Require so Much EXP?
Fools_Taco replied to Freakyhair's topic in General Discussion
13m exp is only alot for the fist few 99s. After about 10 99s 13m is nothing. I can get 13m exp in a skill easysauce. IMHO it should be 40m per 99 because its to easy to max out already. Well actually i have played over 7000 hours.. i guess i have just been runescaped. its time for me to run and escape! -
Jagex did want these items to "revolutionize high level combat," but they made them so rare (through a combination of mistakes) that less than 1% of all of RS can actually afford them. Yeah, you may call that high-leveled, but I call that ridiculous. There are a few things Jagex can do to make Nex more worthwhile: 1) Remove the stupid kill count. That'd go a long way towards renewing interest in Nex. People already have to spend an hour or longer getting that damn key the first time, and each Nex kill requires a few hundred thousand GP in resources. Also, to even have a chance of beating Nex, you have to have max combat stats, 96 summon, and 91+ herblore. Those are damn high requirements-- there's no need to tack on a 20 minute kill count, too. 2) Manually adjust the GE prices. If they raised the GE prices of Nex's drops to 1b (and yes I know the street prices are still 3x that, but we can only hope for so much from Jagex  ), I think many more people would be willing to invest the time to do it. At a bil for a drop, with an 8 man team you are each getting 125m for a drop on CS. I think that'd be enough to encourage people to do it. And with more people doing Nex, the absurd street prices of these items would drop some because the supply would increase. 3) Unlikely, but increase the drop rates. I have said it once and ill say it again. these drops by nex are just to test the functionality of the new life boosting Armour. If they want to test how these new amours affect the game they wouldn't release them on mass... they would want to mitigate the damage they could potentially do. If everything is ok in terms of game breaking mechanics you can say you heard it here first from taco, the next step is the smithing update. They will add the ability to either mod existing amours for +life or create whole new amour with +life. Granted the amour dropped by nex will be the top end of the life armor, they will add cheap armor that everyone can afford in time. Give it a few months. PS: Stockpile smithing supplies guys... it might be the next prayer or herb.

I would quit RS right there, no doubt. Why would you carry all that on you anyway? ill never understand some people. They could add a popup where the person has to type I WILL LOSE MY ITEMS IF I DIE and click ok before entering. Like in WoW you have to type DELETE and click ok before deleting a character. But seriously if they dident read the sign already i dont know what could help these people.
-
This is what makes this game awesome. Its dangerous and if you gank somone you get their stuff. You cant lose what you dont put in the middle. An old gambles saying. If these people cant read then they did it to themselves. I do feel bad for them though... but what are you going to do... make the game suck again because some people are dumb? These people dident lose anything that cant be replaced. Making cash in this game is easy anyway. Im all for free trade and the wild. ITs what makes runescape great.

I voted no too and a poor friend of mine who got hacked AND scammed post-free trade voted yes. I'm gonna be honest here, I never once felt sorry for him and as a result, I just said "Too bad, you wanted this" and just took him off my list. This is what happens when people don't expect to get such garbage like scamming, luring, hacking when free trade was offered. Safety is a valuable thing. It's just sad people don't take it for granted. My original argument still stands... everyone game experience should not be altered because a small portion of players are to dumb to secure their account, or recognize a phishing site, or install a key-logger. It would be the same as making alcohol illegal because some people drink and drive. Everyone shouldn't suffer because a small ammount of people are morons. Besides, they already implemented a solution where people can buy back banned accounts, so your friend can get his account back. Also, gold and items can be replaced, its already so easy to make cash in this game. -

I can't see any relevance between your reasoning and conclusions you draw from it. Mind elaborating, and writing a lengthier post to describe exactly what you mean? From what I have read, nothing in your little 'argument' really explains why 'Fair trade and the GE was a failed experiment', and why 'limiting what we can do ingame because of dumb players' is a silly move. 'The rest of us having to put up with fair trade and all the crap that comes with it because a small number of people are to dumb to play runescape is not the way to go.' Why, why, and why? Sorry i dident respond sooner... ill explain myself There was a very small subsection of the runescape player base that actually bought gold for RL cash... jagex limiting EVERYONE to fair trade to combat a small subsection of the entire population is like buying a whole airline so you can get free in flight peanuts. Its like shooting the patient to cure the disease. Or chopping off your arm because you always get hang nails. Their original argument that they were getting in trouble from credit card companies is a total outright lie and was just fabricated to push the update down the players throat. You think runescape is THE ONLY MMO that has to deal with credit card fraud and RL gold sellers? It was a lie from the start. If you beveled it i have some coo-laid for you to drink and some swampland in Florida you can invest in. Also, you think the credit card problem all of the sudden vanished and they put back free trade and the wild? It dident vanish because it never existed. The entire player base should not be punished because of some cheaters want to cheat. Guess what, people were still buying gold when fair trade was implemented. It was a failed experiment because they lost so many players because of the update. They took a shot at it and lost. At least they could admit their mistake and correct it. I dont even believe that last statement. I think they could not come up with a solution to merchant clans so they scrapped the whole thing. Merchant clans totally hijacked the market for an item AND scammed all the small people in the clan the leaders were using to buy out the item (after the leaders secretly stockpiled the item for months prior to getting their clan members to buy it). So they went from hurting the player base from limiting free trade to hurting the player base with merchant clans. They achieved nothing... we still got hurt AND they lost a boatload of paying accounts. Also i bet they realized that with future updates the current GE mechanic would cause the players more pain... think how it was imposable to get herbs after the herb update. IF someone wants to pay 20k / herb they should be able to if they have the resources. with the way free trade and the GE worked that was not possible. My original statement was true, the GE (as was implemented with a min and a max price) and fair trade / elimination of the wild was a failed experiment. They gained nothing and lost allot. I saw the whole thing unfold and i knew what would happen. What i wouldnt have given to speak at the development meetings when they were discussing it. -
An ingame mail system like [email protected] Ability to send items in the mail system. A web interface into my bank and the GE Guild names and a small graphic displayed by your name Total levels displayed along with your combat level. A specal aura (particle effect) for maxxed out players A max skills cape. Guild levels. Real raid content. Hard dungons that require a massive quest to get keyed for. Google vex thal key in everquest for an example. An option for elite servers that cost more to access. A special server for people with over 2300 total. A better heal spell so we can actually have a tank for raid content. Skill synergies, like you need 90+ in smithing , crafting, and agility to make a special no trade item. The ability to roundhouse people in the balls through the internet. A spell that will warp people to your location. Real agility shortcuts that actually mean something, like put 3 herb patches behind a shortcut that requires 99 agility to get past. The ability to upgrade armour with the smithing skill, like you can upgrade a barrows chest, it becomes no trade, and every upgrade level has a chance to break the item and the chance gets higher and higher with every upgrade level. So you have to choose do i want to risk breaking this +5 barrows armour to make it a +6. Google the ragnarok online smithing upgrades for an example. This feature would remove thousands of items from the game. One would have to buy hundreds and hundreds of armours to get a +whatever the max is. The ability to socket armour and weapons with the smithing and crafting skill... they could add runes and special gems that could be ultra rare... like diablo 2 rune words. The ability to choose one skill to have a max of 126, and every skill will have something epic you can do at 126. That way you can add customizarion to your character. Do you want to be a master herblor or defence? you have to choose because only 1 skill can be 126 at any given time. 126 is 200m exp so its not like this feature would break the game or anything. The rewards could be cool like 126 herb all potions add a bit extra bonus and they all come out 4 dose. With a chance to save the second or something. A complete overhaul of the combat system. An installable client based on the halflife graphics engin. An android interface into the game. Guild owned castles, like there can be one per server and once a week there is a seige where other guilds can try and take your castle. If your guild defends it you get it for another week. The castles could have special dungons that only people in the guild can access. Google ragnarok online war of emperium for an example. The ability (using the smithing skill) to add gold plating to an item so we can choose what 3 items we keep on death. Make the mats for this cost like 500k or something. Make constuction useful. The ability to gamble ANY item in the game, this goes for phats aswell (make it a uber rare chance) make the gamble cost like 50k or something. It would take billions and billions out of the game. Have jagex impliment a market maker that will buy items from the GE removing the items OR gold from the game. The ability to set a bind point anywhere in the game. Make the cost of casting it like 40k or something. A feature that would completly stat whip noobs that get 99 fletching as their first 99. Make easy 99s harder to get. Cooking would require 26m exp instead of 13. Add an item in the game that we could purchase from vendors thats worth 20m... like a gem or something that could be resold to the same vendor for 20m. Would get us past the max cash problem. You could even use it as a mat for some awesome armour or something. Work in the smithing and crafting skills while you are at it. in game vent system would be nice. Remove the chat restrictions.. if i want to tell someone to check a website i should be able to. We are not babbys stop treating us like them. They already said this is in the works. The ability to level skills for other people... like you agree to allow me to add crafting exp to your char for a set amount of money / exp. This could be abused, im just throwing out ideas here. More guild features. There needs to be visable guild features so there can be eilite guilds people strive to join. Like fires of heaven for WoW. Or the old triton guild for everquest. Bosses that are so hard there is status for the guilds that can take them down. The ability to change your combat levels so you can play with noobs in DG without adding to the combat levels of the monsters. A dungeon on top of a mountain that requires a true test of skill to get to. Like you need 99 str to move a boulder, 99 agility to jump a chasm, 99 crafting to make a special ring to get past a door. Real endgame type of stuff. You enter the dungeon completely item-less, and you have to make your gear / consumables in there. So its hard to get there and it takes time to get to the point where you can kill stuff. You have to tele out and start the whole deal to get back. An in game DKP system that guild leaders could manage for high level raid content. i could go on forever but i have a class atm. Taco out!

That would cause even more people to quit. maxing out could only be done by a handful of people. Setting the bar THAT high would make even powergamers give up. You do realize that its a very small section of the runescape community that has maxed out. 120 in all skills would be like maxing out 7 times over currently. It would be impossible for any normal person to do. Back on topic. I dont think they have jumped the shark. I have been playing MMORPGs for well over a decade and this is the FIRST TIME EVER i have seen a development team admit the screwed up and rolled back the changes they made. It just dosent happen. Usually large sweeping changes like what they did with fair trade are perminant. Developers never admit when they are wrong. This was a breath of fresh air. Now we know if they screw the pooch on a future update they have the shuzpa to take their lumps, listed to the players and do what needs to be done. I applaud what they did. Oh ya and the only MMORPG i can think of that has ever closed up shop was horizons. Ultima online is still up and running and people still play diablo 2 and everquest. Runescape wont close the doors for decades. There will always be people willing to play and there will always be people re subbing for the nostaliga. Even i get the itch and fire up everquest for a month or two every so often.

Fair trade and the GE limits was a failed experiment. Who cares if morons get scammed. Limitting what we can do ingame because some people are dumb is a silly move. Dont look at it as people getting scammed... look at it as education for dumb people. The rest of us having to put up with fair trade and all the crap that comes with it because a small number of people are to dumb to play runescape is not the way to go. Its like buying an airplane to get free peanuts... -
This is a good thing... knowing this option is there helps me sleep at night. If by some fluke of nature my account was hacked and the hater got me banned i can now get my account back. This could be preemptive, whatever software systems they have in place now to combat macros might give more false positives. At least now we have some options. Some of us have so much time in these accounts there has to be fail safes. I only log in from 2 computers EVER and they are both running linux. Hell im scared to even talk in game... people get muted for the dumbest [cabbage]. I would pay 40$ a month for an adult server or even more for one of thoes RSA token things they were talking about a few years back.

Just logged in and gave my IRL friend 26m in stuff. Im glad the game is back to the way it use to be. The fair trade update really sucked.

Would you betray your best friend for a Phat?
Fools_Taco replied to Normalize's topic in Questionnaires
I would never scam my RS friends. If some random guy i just met handed me a phat i would run... but my friends? forget about it. -
They should just do away with combat level and just put your total level above your head. Anyone can attack anyone in the wild its all fair game. Dont want to die? stay below the ditch. No [kitty]'s allowed.

How do players know how much an item is worth?
Fools_Taco replied to Chrystophilax's topic in General Discussion
You cant do old time merchanting because the merchants of the past provided what the GE does today. Anyone can tele to the GE and place whatever number of any item for any price. You dont need someone to collect all the small amounts into a larger amount anymore. People wont have to mess around with the trade forums anymore they can just place it in the GE -

Why on earth would you bring all that stuff down there on a fresh update... I have lost everything before.. take a few months off you will be fine.
