  1. Each and every one of us is here for a different reason. Some of are here to get away from the cruel world, others because we have no friends in real life. Some are here to PK, some to skill, some to just have a good time.. There are also some who are here to live in an alternate reality, deal with problems at home, play with friends you know.. the list goes on and on. We are all here for our own reasons. Keeping that in mind, I know there are those who are quick to judge. For example, your looked down upon if your above 20-30 years old and are considered a "nerd" with no life.. when infact over 25% of the RuneScape community is over the age of 20. There are some of us who like to skill and not pk. I personaly have only PK'd ONCE in my entire 2 year runescape career. And that was because of my friends and I in the battle for world 80 a few months back. There is more to RuneScape than just Pking.. however the the PK'ers will the same about skilling.. so there is no right side. The great part about RuneScape is you can just walk up to someone you dont know and start talking. You dont have to be popular, or "cool" to make friends and have fun. You can also be reserved. There are plenty of people that wander runescape all by themselves, with no friends online. I prefer this life sometimes. Along the way however, you will meet people. So to answer your question.. No your not alone. There are others like you. You just need the time, and things will work out. Clans are good for quick social fixes but often times those are not the people you want to hang out with. On occasion however you will find a good clan/community and stick with it. How you got about playing is up to you, and you alone.
  2. Nope, Shark is only 70 un-cooking. I agree the numbers appear to be random. Its not an attempt to say a skill is comming, that message has been there since evil bob's Island existed. Its just some RS humor, dont take it to literal.
  3. What Happened? By looking at the video I can tell exactly what the bug was. Normal vengance hits for a 75% recoil of what you were just hit, the equation looks like this: damage = (hit*.75) The damage in the video was 750% of what was just hit on you, a simple decimal place mixup. The equation at the time of the video was: damage = (hit*7.5) A simple decimal mixup and almost un-noticeable. Abvously a small typo in the coding. So instead of hitting a 20 on the queen for recoil, a 200 was hit instead. The glitch is fixed now. In theroy this would have worked on other players as well as NPC's unless Jagex has a seperate code for NPC and PVP vengance combat. However, no-one is going to admit to using it, as it would be bug abuse using this in the wilderness, so its not confirmed if this worked or not. Anyways these typo's happen more often than you think, just normally not on a scale like this.
  4. Advatars would take months and possibly even years to update with the thousands of wearable items currently in the game, and the many that are made each update. A update this large would not likley be around until RS3, which is most likley several YEARS away. Its like POH, they take ages upong ages to develop. One thing I did find intresting is this however: Legends Quest Re-Work?!
  5. I'd like to point out your Construction tables are incorrect. When building a Large Orrery, your guide says it costs 3 Mahog planks, and 2 Marble Blocks Which is INCORRECT. It actually Costs, 3 Mahog Planks and 5 Gold Leaf. I can Screen This if you would like me to verify. The Kbase also agrees with my statement: http://www.runescape.com/kbase/viewarticle.ws?article_id=2568 I was building one using tipit's guide and bought marble blocks thinking it was what I needed, when thats not what is required. Shame on myself for not looking, but thats my fault. Anyways, Please change this so other players dont have the same problem I did. Thanks.
  6. 1) Please use spell check or a dictonary or something before you type.. 2) "Farcasting" is what Magic is SUPPOSED to be. If your not farcasting and using a whip, dds, ect.. Your not using magic, but using Melee. Using Melee in mage robes which have low melee defence bonuses is why you get hit.. Duh! Its like trying to range in full rune and complain you cant hit anything. Just common sense. 3) People complain that dds's and melee tools hit to hard through mage robes? Again I point to #2.. Farcasting. 4) Farcasting is not noob and anyone who dosent use it is unpowering their own magic skill. You want to know why magic's think their underpowered because they get killed by 2 sides of the triangle? Because their not farcasting, and making themselves unpowered. Its their own fault. Mage being used as its intended is not underpowered at all. The Triangle is fine where it is.
  7. You can hit, but that does not mean you always hit high enough for a KO. Lets say your max is 40. (making the max special 40,40 =80hp) (I have seen higher hits with the dark bow, so 40 is a quite realistic max hit, remember that we are using dragon arrows in my example, not bronze arrows) Then your average hit with the special will be 20, 20.Giving 40 damage on average. Five friends times average of 40 damage is 200 damage. That means if you have four friends, (5 total including yourself) you will on AVERAGE hit 200 damage in 0 - 1 second. Making your target unable to eat, pot or pray. Now lets say this guy was already range praying. You will still do an AVERAGE of 100 damage. Now lets say that you are 10 friends. Even if everyone totally blow their special with minimal hits, like 5,5. Your opponent is still dead even if he have 99hp. The whole concept of NEVER mis, and ALWAYS hit. Just seems very unbalanced for me. The Fact that not even the best armor in the game can give you a slight chance of defending agents the attack seems a little bit... hopeless. Everyone who takes this literally is missing the point. Think about it. You are completly basing your opinions on something that 1) Has not been tested 2) Is incorrect. Let me show you what I mean. You all say the bow can kill meleers easily with their speical, but you seam to be missunderstanding the special. Lets take a look at a similar special to show an example. The Magic Long Bow: This bow's special is a 100% hit. But yet your lucky to hit higher than a 7-10 on most of the hits. Now the special on the Dark Bow is very similar. It is a 100% hit. But like Freesia commented... A 100% does NOT mean an huge double special. You all forget.. All of the max specials we have seen so far have been taken at duel arena, or poh with people using no armor, and mostly low defence. Of course this bow is going to hit hard with somone with no armor on. Now even though its a 100% hit, once you apply your opponents or monsters defence, your going to see a considerable drop in high hits. This has led to what I can see as many people calling the bow "nerfed" already. They assume the bow to hit 100% as no armor exists like veracs special, when this is not the case. It hits 100% of the time, but your opponents stats still effect the stregth. Speical effects 100% ACCURACY and +30% STR of the bow. OPPONENTS armor DECRASES STR of the bow. In turn, using this on higher level monsters and players wearing armor again, I point out you will abviously see a dramatic change in max hits. As for the magers who complain about the new bow's ability to kill a mage.. lets take a look at the handy old triangle. Indeed it appears that *shock* range beats mage!?! How dare they! Point being, mages so far have changed the pking rules by making a superclass of mage/str pures which defines "farcasting" as "noobish". This inturn causes the mages special of attacking from far away to be unbalaced or underpowered which they have done to themselves. This makes them not only weak to rangers now but meleers since by the "pking rules" they made up causes them to in range of melee targets while in mage robes. Eh Didnt mean for that to be a rant, but I have a point.... The Dark bow has *Fixed* the triangle in which defence is now a asset in the wilderness. Rangers now have a superior advantage to mages and the mage/str superclass. Meleers have defence to absorb most of the rangers attacks so this poses little threat to that side of the triangle. There is no underpower or overpowered skill now. Jagex does months of research on each update and they already knew how powerful the bow will be, and what it would effect. Meleer's > Rangers > (True) Magers > Meleer's ...(ect,) and Meleer's + Rangers > Mage/Str Pures The Triangle is Restored.
  8. As for the Gnome Series. I believe thats actually one in the same, or more of a branch of the Mourner Series. Kinda Odd I know, but there are several hints of Elf and Gnome envolvement which makes these two story plots connect. I could explain more in detail but I dont want to rant on lol. Anyways.. The good thing is that the longer we wait the more anticipated it is once we get it. I mean the day Pyfrindis comes out, everyone will be crazy. And also keep in mind that Jagex already has the plot lines finished for the most part. They know what happens, they just take a long time to develop areas and wait for the right time to release them. If player numbers are growing, you generally get smaller quests and new story lines, once players start to dip down, Jagex pulls out something they know everyone wants and boosts the numbers back up. This isnt how quests always go, but just a general observation. But since Jagex has been having "customer appreciation updates" latley, I wouldnt be supprised to see more of these squeal quests popping up sometime soon.
  9. How do you solo a KQ with under 10 sharks? (This is a question, I'm not doubting you) I use like 15 when I'm DUOing... And 2.. that's like... crazy.. Ya, 2 sharks with venge is therotically impossible. This is because she has HP. If you only ate 2 sharks, that means she only did around 40 damage... and 40 * 75% = 30. So venge would hit a total of 30 on her all together.. Im pretty shure she has more than 30 hp. : You would have to DH her, and use venge and be the luckiest peron alive to even come close to using only 2 sharks.
  10. Like others have said, Vengance ALONE is not a useful tactic since it cannot be used more than once per 30 seconds. However that is not to say it ISNT useful. It is. Heres some tips on how to corrrectly use it. You need a 2-3 Man Team. (Preferable 3 people) 1) Player with Normal Veracs Setup. 2) Player with Normal Veracs Setup (Optional but recommended). 3) Player with Range/Vengence. At the end of the Kalphite Maze before you enter to the queen, the ranger Adds Vengance to your teamates and himself. It is much easier if you do this with 3 people because the ranger will get hit less and use less sharks. Once you go down, the two Veracs Players should attack the queen and get as much on either side of her as possible making her "dance" as the normal veracs guide goes. The ranger/venger stands with the Veracs players to make a triangle around her. However stay out of her melee distance, so only her range attacks will do damage to you. From here, as soon as you enter, the kq should be the first to draw blood, and with vengance upon her. With 3 players loaded with vengance her 1st form should be almost dead without any player assistance. The first form is always a quick kill. Soon as she's dead, while she switches forms theres about 5-7 seconds of "free time" while she comes out to her 2nd. Take this time to re-venge a player. If her 2nd takes extra long you can try to re-venge again if you ok on health, but chances are you will k0 her pretty fast with a 2 veracs and ranger. What I recommend: 1) Ranger needs to wear Karils top and bottom and Cbow for best bonuses. (plus no arrows lost if you die) 2) Only Venge before you go down and during the Form switch. If you try to do it while fighting it can be difficult and you can lose hp very fast. If you use this, it indeed is no better than using 3 man with veracs, but its just a different way of doing it. You could Possibly do it faster than 3 veracs but I havent done enough tests to prove which is faster. Note: If 2 players can venge themselves this is also a good setup however, keep in mind only venge at the "safe" times, before you go in and during the form switch. Also note that 3 less sharks means ushally only 1 attempt per run. but this could save on prayer pots since you restock every kill.
  11. Don't EVER say the word again! we do never speak of those that we do not speak :XD: POKEMON = <3 !!! anyways.. I really like this new diary. Gives the players an inside view on how it really works and lets you learn more about it. Kinda intresting imo. Side Note: That special to me looks like the consistanct of blood or fire. Perhaps a healing special or range special with magic bonuses. Who knows.
  12. What about a dds? or Dmace? Those are pretty viable. (Espeically with their specials) And then you have veracs flails which can be lethal with a full set against rune plating. Think about it. If you use a dmace special on a person with a rune plate your are going to hit alot higher than someone with a chain or dchain. This is like the argument that just because a dchain has higher stats than rune plate it defends better. This is incorrect. A chain is a chain, if its rune or dragon. A dds special on stab is going to hit enormous bonuses against a dragon chain, when it would hardly hit a rune plate. Why? because chains are weak vs stab attacks. Its all how you use it. The Combat triangle isnt limited to just Melee, Range and Mage. Within each branch there are mini triangles that can make a huge impact on fighting.
  13. When a story line ends is all about the point of view of the beholder. Not all storys end with a big bang, some just fade out of existance. If you are refering to the "BIG" mysteries of runescape, the multiple quest story lines, and long in depth quests, of course these will never end. They will never end because Jagex wants 3 things: 1) To keep their players intrested, and wondering what could happen next, making them stick around to see if something ever does happen. 2) It makes them wonder on their own imagination what could possibly happen. Alot of people find speculating more enjoyable than knowing the actual ending. 3) Keeping the storyline open allows for more quests to but built upon a quest series Jagex knows players already are looking forward to. On a side note there is at least one "series" i can think of that is complete. That is RFD.It's quest storyline has finished. Boss is beat, nothing new to do there. Those Series that havent been finished include but arnt limited to: 1) Desert Series 2) Mourner Series 3) Mortyania Series 4) Fremenik Series 5) Penguin Series 6) Orge Series 7) Pirate Series 8) Troll Series 9) Ham Series Just to name a few. All of these have endings which are unresolved. That dosent mean their ending WILL ever be resolved. Some may just fade into darkness until 3 years down the road Jagex decides to bring one back up. So to answer your question there will always be series that will be unanswered.
  14. While your post is theroticaly correct, you also forgot a main point on your statment "Jagex will never run out of room". If you were to apply your world diagram to the current earths size I would agree with you, however you must remember RuneScape is on a virtual plane and therefor has some limitations. The limitations is server space. While the RuneScape world may be only 10% of the real world in comparrason, it could be 80% filled with server space, and only have 20 % to grow. So mathmatically you are correct, but in a real world application your point does have a few flaws. Regardless my =D> for adding this all up. It is a very intellegent find.
  15. There is full dragon armor. Its called 3rd Age Armor. And regarding the max hit, it IS possible hit higher than 99 because a person CAN have over 99 hp. Sara Brew, then kegs beers to quickly lower your defence to 0. And regarding hitting on a monster, in theroy a Keres can hit more than 120 with its special. And yes theres always room for improvement. Not everthing added in combat has to be badder, bigger, and better. Small things which add a new strategy to the game dont have to be powerful to effect playing in a drastic way.
  16. Well if people were doing capes for money lets take a look at all the capes that can make money while leveling: - Any Combat Type (Drops) - Slayer (Drops) - RuneCrafting - Herblore - Theiving - Crafting - Fletching - Hunter - Mining - Smithing - Fishing - Cooking (Depending on what you cook) - Woodcutting - Farming (Herbs and some other supplies) And the Skills that lose/make no money? - Prayer (Buying Bones) - Construction - Agility - Firemaking (Not including minigames) The capes that make money are more often seen. The ones that use money however are more often that not, alot rarer to find. These skills are only acheived by the rich or players with determination, making them alot more honorable to have. Now you can say a herblore cape or crafting cape may be rarer than a prayer cape for example, but that is because of another factor of enjoyment and time. Some skills can be tedious but leveled quickly, such as hunter. Some are easy but take alot of time and resources, such as construction. So really the factors that make a cape rare are: - Time - Materials/money - Enoyment Something with lots of time and materials with little enjoyment is abvously more rare than something with enjoyment. Anyways the "rarest" cape by numbers at the moment is Construction, followed by Slayer. The Most Popular are Fletching and Cooking. Just because you have a popular cape however dosent mean its less meaningful. Its still a great acomplishment.
  17. RSN: Brianite3 House Location: Yanille Offering: Gilded Altar, Gilded Eagle Lecterns. Timeframe: CLOSED Server(s): 88 Construction Level: 86 How to Contact: No Need to Contact I will be in my house for a party for my friend during this time, Just need to show up. (Not a drop party so dont ask please) Additional info: The Gilded Altar is South West of the entrance portal. You will need to bring your OWN marr. The Eagle Lectern (All Tele tabs) is North East of the Entrance Portal. Portals Available: Glory (On wall), Fally, Cammy, Canfis, Entrance Portal.
  18. You know that the Ring of Wealth dosent increase your chances from the chest at barrows because its not a monster drop? Think of the chest more like a loot, kinda like theiving. Its preprogrammed so your ROW wont effect the looting. Its best to bring a ROL to barrows cause theres no other ring thats useful except maybe lunar ring or ring of recoil. anyways.. Ya the ROL has saved me on a couple of accasions but I have to remember not to wear one in POH, its not pretty scarry if you get hit really low, and get teled with a bunch of stuff you dont intend to lose to fally with 3hp. Make you nervous if you get a random on the way to the bank.
  19. Zygomites I dont blame you for, but... not doing ankous or kalphites? Ankous are possibly one of the BEST slayer assigments you can have because with a ring of wealth they drop TONS of death and blood runes. Im talking like 10 death runes almost everyother drop. Along with many other good drops. I ushally leave there with over 100-200 bloods and deaths, bunch of addy arrows and such. Not to mention they drop food occasionaly so that lets you stay even longer. Kalphites are also an excelent task because their fairly good xp. Just make sure you pick up all the coins they drop. It adds up. Their excelent to cannon if you have the Cballs to spare. Plus you can KQ for even more slayer xp and have some fun while doing it :P
  20. Those small sounds in the banks are a mixture of 'normal' bank sounds like opening cash registers and player made sounds. (eg mixing potions, teleporting, crafting, fletching. ect..) As for the sounds in varrock, I manage to record them so you could listen to them in more detail: Varrock Center Fountain Sound Varrock Side Sounds Now that I think about it, the second sound does sound alot like the "growl" a terror dog makes from Tairns Lair. It has that same type of low choppy grindy sound.
  21. Ive be strangly lucky to obtain the most of the items ive wanted in treasure trails. I dont do them that often only when I get the as drops. I dont hunt for them. Anyways. My best was a Robin and Zammy Cloak.
  22. Well Jagex did mention awhile back during the "Third Party Client" disputes that a "clan chat" of sorts would be implimented. Also, the recent poll on runescape.com about "multi-combat" in the wilderness is fairly good indications that Jagex could make something like this if the runescape community wanted it enough. You idea isnt to bad tho. One suggestion however. Well 2 really.. #1) There should be an "eyeglass" or sorts in the lobby area that would allow players to see the battle going on. Much like the Scry portal used in POH. #2) You mentioned teams betting, however in addition to this you could expand it further. Not only should players participating in the battle put into a pot that is split up at the end, but also players in the lobby can add onto a pot for a team. So in short, players in the lobby can also bet on teams and split the rewards if that team wins. If they lose, their bettings go to the other teams winnings. Gives some player involvement into the matches.
  23. Im aware of the enviromental sounds. However the sounds at the fountain dont sound normal. Its not a typical "fountain sound" and its not continous. Theres no other term to describe it than "creepy" or "alien-like" sounds. You have to go and hear it for yourself to see. The patches off to the side only caught my attention because it only occurs in a 4 square area.
  24. Well. While you may be right about Jagex stalling, you may also be reading to much into this. #1) Jagex only had 4 updates, however they did two of them from BTS in 1 week. And theres 4 weeks in this month, so that means theres going to be a week without updates. #2) Remember back to the Fally Update. That update was also several days later (almost a week if I remember) than they had planned. This is because its such a biggg update they want to make sure the kinks are worked out. #3) Again, since theirs only 1 update left and 2 weeks, its possible they are not "behind schedual" and just didnt plan to release an update this week. Instead they might release it next week as a Giant graphical update. With the recent huge number of people complaining about the past few updates, it wouldnt supprise me they just skipped a week to make sure everything was bug free and that it stood up the their standards. #4) The museum sounds more like a 1 time minigame much like the acheiment dairys, or possibly a minigame like the gnome food. Where you have to run around, dig and report back. Just because they didnt specify it was a minigame dosent mean it wasnt. Im not saying a new skill isnt possible, just that perhaps your reading to much into this. Also, Keep in mind we also have a missing item out there. The ruby necklace still has yet a use from the jewlrey update. Perhaps this necklace will be a teleport to a new minigame if they are making one?
