  1. The Enchanted Lyre Guide Part 1: Intro Pre-Intro: I just completed walking over Olav's Slippery Bridge, and though again about my trusty old Enchanted Lyre collection. I hope it helps you get out there faster for Olav's Quest or the next thing out in that area of Gaelinor as well. This guide is about the very under estimated and underutilized Enchanted Lyre of Rellekka. For those of you who don't know, the Enchanted Lyre is a quest item from the Fremmenik Trials Quest. After finishing the quest it can be made into the Enchanted Lyre (2), which gives you two free teleports to Rellekka. This comes in very handy for getting out to that part of Gaelinor for Slayer, Crafting, Questing, Kingdom Management and many other areas. I have been tossing around the idea of making this guide for quite a while now. I have a stock of 30 Enchanted Lyres that have saved me hours of playing time in many skills, and every time I mention this to people they always give me an "Ahhh, I never though of that" type of response. So, here it is, my first attempt at a guide. Also, I will mention that you will need to have finished the Fremennik Trials in order to get the most out of this guide. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Table of Contents Part 1: Intro - (Hopefully you read it before getting this far) Part 2: How to make Part 3: How to enchant Part 4: Uses Part 5: Why the Lyre? Part 6: FAQ Part 7: Closing Thoughts Part 8: Edits --------------------------------------------------------------------- Part 2: How to make Enchanted Lyres are made using the fletching skill to attach a golden string to an Unstrung Lyre Unstrung Lyres are made by cutting a branch from the swaying tree just to the east of Rellekka (see the mini map in my pic, it is the area with many rabbits and Doogle Leaf spawns). Just equip your axe and go chop as many branches as you need. You will get 'branch', use a knife on these to make unstrung lyre, it is almost a musical instrument. Bring a Cammy teletab to speed up the collection process. With the teletab you can collect 27 branches in one trip. Golden Wool are made by buying golden Fleece from Lalli the troll to the east of the rare tree and using the fleece on a spinning wheel to make golden wool. During the quest fleeses are free and you can get as many as you need by talking to Lalli and dropping them, but after the quest you will need to buy them for 1k each. Bring an air staff (your hands will be free this time) and a law or a Cammy teletab here as well to speed up the process. Bring 27,000 gp and you can grab 27 strings in one trip. Lyres are also a very rare drop from the Fremmenik. If you need some combat XP and have nothing better to do then this is an option for you, but it is an inefficient use of time. Turbo Tip: You can cut out some time by using the agility shortcut above the Sinclair Mansion. 48 Agility Required. Part 3: How to enchant Any Lyres enchanted during the quest can only be enchanted with a raw shark, and become unenchanted after the quest is completed. Lyres are enchanted by making a 'worthy' offering Fossegrimmen at her small alter to the south of Rellekka, just to the west of the path. The first way is to use a raw shark, just as you did during the quest. This is fine if you can fish them, but raw shark in small quantities are hard to come by if you don't have the fishing level to catch them. The second and most recommended way is to use a raw bass and the Ring of Charos (a). Fossegrimmen will protest that a bass is not a worthy offering, but with the ring you can convince her that it is just "a very small shark". The best way to get raw bass is to buy them from the fishing shop in Catherby. Fishing them with a big net is just too time consuming, trust me on this one. You can generally buy a good amount of bass in one or two world hops max. Bass are also available at the shop in the Warrior's Guild. They stock 10 per world. Raw Sea Turtle and Raw Manta Rays may also be used as offerings to Fossegrimen to charge your lyres. They are a bit price prohibative when compared to Bass though. They do have the added benefit of more teleports though. Sea turtles will give you 4 charges, and Mantas will give 3 when offered. Here is the Enchanted Lyre entry from the KB Having more teleports can also ba a slight disadvantage here though because they can take up more bank space. With 2 charges the most you can have taken is 3 bank spaces (full charge, 1 charge, and zero charges). If you are anything like me, you might have any number of the charged states sitting in your bank, just think glory ammys with zero to 4 charges. When not power training, I have found that it is easier to use all 2 teleport Lyres once, then use all 1 teleport Lyres. This way you are assured of always having only two bank spaces taken up by lyres. Be sure to keep them next to each other in inventory though, because they can be hard to find. Turbo Tip: The Fishing shop in Canafis has one raw shark in stock, so in a pinch this can be used. Part 4: Uses At this point everyone should know that the Lyre teleports you to Rellekka, but why would you need a Rellekka teleport? Here is just a short list of the things I use mine for: Slayer - The tele spot is much closer to the Fremmy Slayer Dungeon Crafting - Using this to get closer to the seaweed spawns is the fastest way to collect seaweed in the game. Kingdom Management - If you actively manage your kingdom, this is a must. Farming - This is a fast way to get to the white berry plot on Miscallania. Questing - There are many quests that utilize this area of the game. Herblore - If you don't have lunar magics this tele gets you very close to the Waterbirth Island snape spawns. Herblore - Black unicorns spawn nust north east of the teleport location for quick collection. Construction - If you are on ancients or Lunar it is a great way to get to your POH in Rellekka. PKing - Lose your god book? The telespot is very close, although the games tele gives it a good run for the money now. Combat XP - Extremely close to the Rock Crabs , these are great for training with low deg and high XP. These are just a few of the areas of the game I use my lyres for. There are many more, but the basic benefit is the decreased time it will take you to get out to that side of the world. Part 5: Why Lyres? After writing this guide, I saw that many people posted about alternative teleportation methods to the lyre. In this section I will attempt to descrive them and offer my reasons as to why the lyre is actually the better of the 3. Fairy Rings These are excallent for a great many things. The benefits of the rings are outweighed by the time it takes to grab a staff, teleport to the master ring, dial the code, and tele to your final destination though. The run from the lyre tele spot is about one second difference to the Slayer Dungeon. This is more than made up for the banking time though. You can tele directly back there from any bank using a lyre, which significantly decreases the necessary time to get back to slaying. The only place the rings get close is if you do not have 77 mage and lunar magics. There is a range near the bank in the Lost City to cook seaweed on. With 77 mage molten glass can be made directly from seaweed with ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹ÃâSuperglass MakeÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ eliminating that step. It is still faster by about 30 per hour to collect with lyres though. The Lyre is also much easier to replace than a Dramen Staff or Lunar Staff, so in a pinch if you really need that extra inventory spot you can just drop it. Good slayer drop for example. House Teleport With this option you get to nearly the same spot as you would using the lyre teleport. The only major drawback is the time it takes to bring up your house. Depending on server latency, there can be a much longer wait to get into your house, find the portal and leave. One benefit here is that in using up the house teletab you get a free inventory space. All in all the time trade off is not worth it over time though. Part 6: FAQ Q: If I enchant them during Fremmy trials quest do they become un-enchanted? A: Yes Q: Can I make more than one Lyre during the quest? A: Yes, they are free. Q: Why do you buy the bass instead of fishing them? A: Just try it for yourself. Fishing Bass is painfully slow because you also collect just as many boots, caskets, seaweeds, oysters, and cod. Just save yourself the time and buy them. Q: Don't Lunar Magics and the Fairy rings defeat the usefulness of the Lyres? A: With the CIP ring code or Miscellania and the Waterbirth tele in the Lunar spell book getting around got a lot easier. I don't deny that one bit, but the Lyres are still a great free option. Especially for those who can't or dont do quests. Part 7: Closing Thoughts Well, I am sure I am not the first person to say that making this guide took longer than I had anticipated. It was fun to go through the entire process again though, and I suppose I can always use the extra lyres, you can never have too many you know. Pick it apart and let me know what I can do to make it better and thanks for reading! Part 8: Edits First Edit Today: Added Baron's Tip about easy access to your house, and fixed some typing errors. 3.23.07 - Added the following: Easy access to god books, Lyres can be a fremmy drop, Mantas and sea turtles as offerings. Am I the only one that thought it was Rekella instead of Rellekka? -Major addition of Part 5: Why Lyres. I added this to respond to all of the people who posted about rings or POH teles. 3.24.07 - typo - Thanks Maddavy2004 4.11.07 - Correction on Manta and Turtles. Thanks MJwannabe5 (and jwrm22 for reinforcing the idea that expensive fish are bad to use)! 5.18.07 - Cosmetic. 5.19.07 - Added Mr Cheese's tip for getting bass from warrior guild. 5.20.07 - Fairly big Update today. Thanks Kill and Tomatoe for the heads up on the K Base URL change. Big thanks to Kinslayer777 for the many tips both here and in your PM. 2. Sorry if your thread is long dead, but the enchanted lyre is one of the most useful items in the game! I have 30 of them actually. There are 2 ways to get yours enchanted again. You need to use a raw shark(1) or a raw bass(2) with the ring of charos on the alter as an offering to Fossegrimen. If you dropped yours, then you can still make more. You can buy the string for 1k and just cut another branch. I am actually working on a guide for the player made guides now.
  3. This is a kind of weak guide 2/10 rating from me. Rabbit`s food is a great way to subsidise your WC training with seeds and nests. Cutting, banking, unbanking, burning takes longer than burning logs as you cut. In terms of actual speed to levelling banking your logs is pointless.
  4. I can confirm this. I did a lot of my herblore training with serum 207. The return is very low when using serum 207 though. I did however find that the rate for serum 208 was 4 unid tarromin for every 4 doses used. Since 1 tarromin makes 3 doses, it is a fast way to get tarromin. The tower of life is also now the fastest way to get unicorn horns.
  5. Thanks for moving my times to the front. I hope they help.
  6. I thought this was great when i read it, but a quick confirmation on ebay shows over 285 hits for runescape money or rs gold. Do you have anything at all to back up your post? Because it looks to be a bit snopish.
  7. I hope you are aware that this is terrible advice for a number of reasons. 1. It increases the cost per xp significantly. Less xp per cast 2. You get a great deal of mage xp from the damage you do. you get 2 xp per damage point. 3. This is slow training. More kills per hour is more xp per hour. Aside from that this guide is not about spells in the first place. ***steps off pedistal*** I have a few things to add: Mirror shield: This has the best def of any shield that does not have a mage/range penalty. I use it whenever I need a bit of a boost and can`t afford any more penalties. Here are the def stats (att are zero, it is a shield): Stab 10 Slash 15 Crush 5 Magic 5 Range 5 When pking in wildy, this is a great item to bring along becazuse it is cheap at 5,000gp from any slayer master, and the added def might just get you through the fight. Gold Helmet: This is another armour item that has no mage/range penalties with the following stats: Stab 0 Slash 10 Crush 20 Magic 0 Range 10 It is a bit heavy though, but if you need more def with no penalties, than this is a great item, and another part of my `nearly free, decent def PK outfit`.
  8. I run into the same problem in ardo though. Never enough vials in stock.
  9. If Tip.it is running this slow on that kind of hardware you really need to work on the site a bit more. We are however moving away from the original point I was trying to make, that tip.it is actualy a fairly profitable enterprise.
  10. They are great to train on, and the drop rate for herbs is the best in the game, and unlike the Chaos Druids, they dont drop guams and merrintil 25% of the time. Ankous are the worst place to train at. Each room is filled with high level noobs who should have been stuck at 86 combat if it were not for PC.
  11. I wish you wouldn't use that site on which to base your conclusions. The site you've quoted is not an accurate picture of traffic here at Tip. It. First, it's outdated. Second, you DO realize that the information only reflects the data of Alexa Toolbar users, right? What about the all the other people out there who don't have an Alexa Toolbar? Are they included in the traffic ranks? No. From the same site you quoted: Kiara - I think you might be misunderstanding me here. Thet data is a minimum. I used it to illustrate the point that tip.it is actually a very profitable.
  12. wow slow down here poncho. Google pays more like 1 cent per click. nice try though. Just for the sake of your argument, I will humor you. My 3k hits a day was just a guess, but checking the alexa data, it was right on. Tip.it Alexa data. At 1 cent per click and a 1% click rate per page vidited by unique ip addresses, the numbers come out well above my first estimage! 5,575: 3 month average visitors per day. 8.3: Average page visit per unique visitor 5575 x 8.3 x 1% =462.73 clicks per day on google adsence ads. Not including the tickle pop under ads here at all. Using your 1 cent per click, that is about $140 a month. Please offer a link to that figure, as it is completely off. Gold farmers and Item re-sellers pay a premium for those ads, jacking up the average pay per click well above the google average to .25 a click, or about $3,500 in the pocket of some guy named [Admin Edit: no naming names]. $42,000 a year doesn't seem too bad at all to be running this web site.
  13. At combat lvl 68, I made 3,5000 nats through the abyss last week. In all that time, I only ran into 2 pkers my level. Both mage pures. The first froze me, the second teleblocked me, but each time I was able to get to the mage with no problems. I went back and owned the ancient guy, but I didnt want to play around with a lvl 67 with 85 mage. I did die once in the abyssw when I failed an agility entrance 16 times. I was not happy.
  14. This is just not true. I see the google as sence ads on the forums and your site, as well as the `tickle` pop under window very time I open up tip.it. Just for an example: Let's say you have 3,000 clicks a day from a unique visitor. (It is very likely more but let's say it's the case for argument) Let's `guestimate` that only about 1% of your visitors will click on your Google ads(Here again, I assure you it is a much higher %). How much money does that make you every day? 3,000 visitors is 300 clicks on google ads. 300 clicks is about $75 a day. This is $2,250 a month. (.25 is the estimated average amount Google pays per click.) Hosting costs about $70-$100 a month. Where is the cash actually going?
  15. That is funny. I have done it the opposite though, fally tele other 10 times then throw in a lumby. Before the bnak and rfd chest they had to tun back most of the time. Good comedy. Also, for the santas, I learned, after many many a red topaz (and before bolt tips), that a cut red topaz looks exactly like a santa when dropped on ash. A very short time at the Shilo gem rocks will get you quite a few ash and red topaz for this trick. Go to a relatively dcrowded world and start dropping ash/topaz sets. Once they start popping up people go mad. They see the first or the second one, and just assume there wont be more, but then 10 more pop up. They really go crazy.
  16. *Whistles* :-w 30k staffs...that's about 60m made in profit =) i'm updating the guide soon, i jsut learned how to take pics D`oh! Who can save 60mil when crafting b staffs? I end up buying tons of runes because they are so convieniently there for purchase.
  17. Hmmm. Interesting points here. I disagree with the idea that there is a large group of people with 5-6 autoers out there. It is the occasional player with 2 computers running or the Chinese sweat shop with 150 computers running. Now just look at the player made guides and you will see one of the most popular is the green dragon auto pking guide. Why are there so many green dragon autoers? 2 reasons 1. They were VERY profitable when the script was written, and they are still pretty rpofitable now. 2. The script was well written! The gold farmers are not messing around here. This is their living, watching 30 monitors day in day out on 12 hour shifts. That script probably cost the first few buyers a few thousand dollars because it was proven to work. I assure you these scripts are professionally coded. The flip side is that they probably made many times that over the past few months. Think about the sheer numbers for a second. 100 computers running 24/7 killing green dragons and accumulating the hides and bones for 2 months. These quests will not stop autoers at all. Tutorial island slows people down a ton, and yet many players have secondary accounts they use as pures, skillers, or just as an escape from their mains. I might enjoy a fun little quest to do something actually. I would however disagree if it was something like the evil Devious Minds quest, with huge requirements (50 rc and 65 smithing) for such a junk reward. Another thing to think about is just the sheer volume of clicking you need to go through to level up at the higher levels. Doing a 10 minute quest really becomes a bit moot if you have been smithing for 50 hours to gain a level, and you have hundreds of hours to go. So to sum up: This would not be an effective blocker of autoers, because it in not an effective deterent, and because the autoers will have a new and improved script ready to go. As long as players purchase gold outside of the game there will be a market for gold farmers/autoers.
  18. I have added u in the list because 3 left is REACHED in my eyes Congrats OK done with Dev minds and Lunar Diplomacy now. Wish me luck in MEP. Combat level 68 now.
  19. Yep to the east of the Fremmy village. It is between there and the slayer dungeon. There are also unicorn fawns there that don`t drop horns though. The only one there. It also sells construction materials. When you open up the shop you get the option of the general store or the construction material store, just choose the general store. Not many people use this store for vials at all, but since they are necessary for making serum 107, they are for sale there i guess. Try it. Ring of life also works from level 30. KB Sitation
  20. Very nice. I used to go to the kings all the time. 3-4 trips a day with 16-18 solo Rex kills. I never noticed that many lurers there though. Is it a recent problem?
  21. Nice guide. I got 2 solo kills last week using it. There was a group who offered to go after supreme and leave rex to me if I kept him off them. I need to train def and sleyer though. Dart would have been much nicer to use. btw, I am only combat lvl 68 with 71 mage.
  22. I had some time on my hands and decided to help out your guide by timing the various routes. I need to craft 4k nats for the Devious minds quest requirement, so I have a bit of timje and I wanted to see what way was actually faster. I only have Dev minds and the MEP queses left for the quest cape, so I have been rcing all day and was board. One thing I did notice is that at level 68, there aren`t many pkers my level out there. So far 2 have tried to kill me, but I have 71 mage so their spells weren`t as effective. The second guy teleblocked me first, but I made it to the mage in time. I turned right around and went after him but he ran out of wildy before I could get a kill. Here are the time trials I did. Each test was done with 70-100% run wearing the recomended gear and an accumulator. Regular Abyss Method: Trip 1 1`24 Trip 2 1`48 Trip 3 1`06 Trip 4 1`28 Average: 1`26.5 Method 1 - Fairy rings, banking in lost city (inspired by spongebob pj): Trip 1 2`51 Trip 2 2`33 Trip 3 2`20 Trip 4 2`35 Average: 2`35 Method 2 - The castle Wars method ( inspired by vlad_the_old): Trip 1 2`10 Trip 2 2`36 Trip 3 2`06 Trip 4 2`01 Average: 2`13 The non-abyss edgeville method! (inspired by zou_lou) : Trip 1 1`50 Trip 2 1`48 Trip 3 1`52 Trip 4 1`57 Average: 1`52 Aside from just using the abyss, it looks like Zou`s way is the best of the three non-abyss methods. With Method 2 you are using up duel rings in a very un-productive way. Using them to craft fire runes from regular ess would get much faster RC xp. I also wanted to note that it takes about 1`23 minutes to make a round trip, using games neclace, to charge glories. Of course if you have no glories, then you could only use method 1, but it is still faster to do method 3 over method 1 with just 1 glory.
  23. Please, by all means use anything from my guide. Just give me a small foot note at the bottom.
  24. Been on the forums lately? All i see is "buying rrannars 7kea and Selling rannars 7kea and Buying ppots 6.5kea.... Ardo has at least 250 in stock. I made half a mil after an update one night by world hopping and buying up all the vials, then selling them. Collecting white berries in Lleyta takes MEP though. That is totally true about ranars and p pots lately. Nearly impossible to make a fast sale at 7k, although buying a ranar seed for 20k is a decent way to make a profit. I am averaging 7 weeds per seed now, so that is 45,500 per seed when sold at 6,500 each. Here is a short guide I made up for my clan. It is only the first draft, but you will find some information, especially the quest rewards and such in there: G.U.I.L.D.S. Herblore Guide
  25. nothing about the topic, just about how you write. According to tip it rules.. ...Does this make you feel... so mod wannabe?...
