  1. Yeah, they can be heard from like a quarter mile away. The sound is interesting, yet rather disturbing for me... In Illinois we usually don't have swarms (I think that's for New York) we just have some large amounts every summer. No 17 year massive invasions or anything. I hear cicadas are tasty too. At my school it's a tradition at the end of the year to roast some cicadas and eat em. Never tried any since this is my first year at the school, but it'll be interesting ;)
  2. That's a pretty good idea. Only problem is we will probably not fully restore the logo any time soon, we'll just have some roughly drawn black letters. We need a massive recruitment drive. Mods, can you edit the title saying "helpers needed urgently" or something? We could really use an extra 20 hands or so.
  3. Well now that I understand it better.. I really think you shouldn't have done that in the first place. If your going to mess with anyone on the phone, mess with your friends or phone sex hotlines. But tech support has a pretty important job and doesn't need bored people logging on for the hell of it. As for punishment, you won't get very much. at the very most, a letter from your ISP. But the department of homeland security and the FBI have more important things to worry about that prank callers. Unless it's an important government building or something...
  4. http://www.theonion.com ^^ Is ftw \ and http://citationmachine.net The site is so awesome to use when making bibliographies for school reports. Input the info and it puts it in MLA or APA format for you. Then you copy and paste.

^I agree with sonerohi. One day the subject was brought up in our Biology class and suddenly everyone in the class is chattering about it taking rumors as though they were true, talking as though they were part of the research involved in building the damned thing. One kid didn't even know what it does, he thought the whole idea was to create a black hole, and thus thought he was the smartest kid in the universe for realizing the black hole could destroy the world :wall: and started telling everyone about the end of the world.
  6. Wish I had more ink... 20% right now. They're planning to wipe us out, just found their thread. By the way, forget the sword and the HYT. They're easy targets and cost ink to fix. Worry about the letters for now. EDIT: the logo has been completely whited!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. I think it's a group of angry logo writers who are tired of xenu taking so much space. There are a bunch of different well drawn images on the xenu that the average /b/ vandal wouldn't have the skill or patience to draw.
  8. I think our only choice now is to wait it out and come back in a couple months. Despite the vandals armed with little ink, there were still a lot of em. The logo is almost completely obliderated now with scribbles, nasty words, and /b/ symbols. Most of the letters are practically gone. I have 14% ink, if I chose to fight now I'd maybe save half a letter and have to watch it get eaten away at the next attack. Unless we can get a sudden recruitment drive of 20 or so people, I doubt we'll survive much longer.
  9. And frankly I think the only reason it's being thought of so much is because the media and some industries would suffer if we forgot it. Let's face it, 9/11 memorials are easy news reports with massive amounts of views. The news channels just put up some pictures, maybe a video of a memorial, get some old pictures they have stored of the attack, and have a reporter talk about what happened that day and that it's being remembered. It's an easy report to assemble and one thast brings in loads of views, not to mention makes the channel sound more patriotic for covering the memorial. And then there's the souvenir sales companies that make limited edition coins and metal dollars with images of the event, turning a national tragedy into a lucrative business. If we just decided to move on and not do much on 9/11, these industries would lose opportunities. So they make sure we don't forget. Sad, isn't it?
  10. 5% ink. Good news is, the vandals are just about at that too. Bad news is two letters have already been completely wiped out (the S is gone, R is almost gone), there's loads of /b/ work on the logo as well. If I just had more ink... I can't stand watching the logo slowly being killed by vandals with 5% ink.
  11. I was an intolerant second grader at the time and rather than caring much about the event I was ticked off that all the good shows were taken off air and replaced with 24/7 news coverage of the attacks, except some cartoons. I wish I had treated it differently back then. If I become a grandparent and my grandchild asks me what 9/11 was like, I don't want to be the one who says "it...was... horrible. pure horror..." and my kid goes "yes grandpa, it really was a dad event" and I say "no... I couldn't watch...TV...". I think we should find another name for 9/11 now. A more official name. We don't refer to historical tragidies by their date. We call them by a real name. Like we don't call the JFK assassination "11/22" or the MLK assassination "4/4/68". We should give it a more official name, or at least one that everyone calls it by besides it's date.

well the whole FIGHT THE POWAH thing is gone, moot did it for the lulz. Wish he kept it on through today though, now there are the people making fun of 9/11. I couldn't care less about the jokes about it, but I hate how they'd do it on their precious /b/ to look cool, but would never have the guts to say it in real life to any American. Pathetic swines. And of course, since the LHC hasn't ended the world the some europeans are taking advantage by saying they're more advanced because the LHC is in europe. [wagon]es, there were I believe 80 american scientists on the project.
  13. Oh my goodness, dead?!?!?!?? We need Morgan Freeman NOW!!! :o
  14. Well if this is a mass IP ban, why? If /b/ has been temporarily knocked as well, it could be the chance to repair the logo free of attacks? Kept text small to prevent non-registered from seeing without having to quote (or copy if they were smart...)
  15. Good luck, prank callers don't do well in prison :ohnoes: On a more serious note, how were you harassing anyway? I don't get it. What's asl? And were you reported because you just wanted to chat?
  16. Oh what the hell?!?! This morning I had 55% ink, I check back right now and I'm at 5%. Grr... must have been that thing where we couldn't access drawball. ink resets or something? Gonna have to save my ink. Which is a problem, the R and S are completely wiped out and the T is scribbled all over.

Hah! Google turned their logo into the LHC. Check out their homepage. I giggled. :
  18. Heh, those lovebugs are nothing. Up here in Illinois, we got cicadas (sih-KAY-duhs). Big-[wagon] flying cockroach things that make noises that sound like a canary with leningitus combined with a screaming bee. [hide=cicada][/hide] Very creepy in the summer. And they can play dead for a week. Just when you approach one you think is dead it jumps at you :ohnoes:
  19. For those who know about the LHC (the thing that /b/ claims will destroy the world) [hide=/b/tards][/hide] I giggled at the first post, then really laughed when I saw the first response.
  20. I agree with Lenticular and Ginger. Let's face it, if you had the choice to take responsibility for your own actions and pay for your own things when not required, or to ignore both, I think most would choose the latter unless they cared about the way the country is run. There's no way anarchy would work in a huge country like the US or other countries. Maybe in smaller countries of a few thousand people like a pacific island, I'm sure there's one that could survive on anarchy. And as for monarchy well... again, only in the smaller countries, or ones where you want the people to live in poverty. Giving one person so much power will almost never work out in today's world. In the past it did alright, but today, if one person could rule the world it'd be a huge corporation CEO who could pull some strings and get into the leader spot making sure the rules catered to his business.

This thing will not destroy the world. If it works at all, it'll give crucial information to the history of earth. 4chan is already making a big deal out of this thing. :wall: This picture made me laugh out loud, not just the OP but the first response: [hide=/b/tards][/hide]
  22. Fixed the P and erased some nasty words with someone's help (Fooman...?) only to have the vandals return a minute later with "i'll be back" messages. By the way, the RUNE seriously needs help, some colorful vandals decided to attack :|
  23. Guys, can we stop bagging on the fail pics? Just because some find them stupid, doesn't mean they don't belong on the thread. There are many definitions of funny. megakiller, it's not as if some of your "random" pics are any funnier. Some will giggle at the randomness, I prefer fails. What made me smile the most at this pick was that the guy misspelled safety :wall:
  24. [hide=quotes]] Even if they manage to make their deaths look like an accident, it will not erase suspicion. In fact, it'll add to the suspicion. Nothing hides from the media. Word will get out that the men who died happened to be 9/11 conspiracy investigators. Plus, a video of 9/11 conspiracies being removed would add to the suspicion. Killing them would just make them a martyr to the cause and bring more supporters. And as someone put nicely, if a project has over zero people involved, word will get out eventually. Creating such a major undergoing in total secret with absolutely no clues that anything ever happened is very hard to do, maintaining the secrecy is just as hard. If "The government" has the ability to pull off 9/11, they have the ability to make it look like an accident without suspicion, and would have stopped the kids from ever finishing the film before it could be posted. [/hide] First off, if they were behind 9/11, they'd probably make sure it looks nothing like a conspiracy so the people who think everything is a conspiracy might actually calm down. Problem is, there are conspiracies anyway. They did confiscate some security films from local businesses, maybe searching for evidence, maybe preventing the video from being displayed all over the news. Maybe that's as far as the conspiracy goes. They haven't stopped the kids making the film, again maybe it's because they have nothing to hide, maybe because removing it would add suspicion. Besides, what motive could the government have to kill thousands of people and destroy major buildings? The government is made of more than one man. For this to be approved by enough people to get it in motion, you'd have to sway hundreds of officials. Unless only a few congressmen were involved, in which case, it's not the government that is part of the conspiracy but simply a few men who maybe needed money or sick entertainment or something. If it were a "government" act, you'd have to get dozens, possibly hundreds, of officials involved. There's no way such a huge undertaking could stay 100% secret even 7 years after the event.
  25. Ah a joker face... I was wondering why the eyes were wrong on the anon mask... Still, the fact that a vandal has enough time to draw an entire semi-detailed face without getting attacked by a tipiter in the process is a little weird. We need more guards :|
