  2. Igor, care to disprove some of these eucharistic miracles? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eucharistic_miracle and don't tell me all the images are fake or every story is made up.
  3. Its not nice to make threads like these either. I get really ticked about things like this, people finding reasons to prove christianity wrong. and in this case its a simple statistic. I'm willing to make an intelligent discussion. But I don't see how much intelligence is going on when someone posts a statistic saying most higher intellectuals are non-believers. I see no point in this thread other than to start controversy.
  4. If you get caught pointing a gun at someone, what will your alibi be? "I was pretending to be a sniper". the cops would either think you're a messed up kid who deserves counseling or a gunman who can't afford actual weaponry who deserves jailtime. Either way there's big trouble ahead. If I look out my window and I see a kid pointing a gun at me, I will either a)duck and call the cops b)Scream until the whole neighborhood sees whats going on c)if I own a gun, I'd get it and fire back. I'm not gonna wait to see if the person sniping is real or an imaginitive kid. I suggest you rethink this idea. a lot of people have the "shoot first, ask questions later" mentality.
  5. What is the point of this thread? don't tell me its just to give us random trivial info. You purposely posted this just to somehow show that if you're smart, you shouldn't believe in god or just to tick christians off. I see no relevence to this thread because there are already several threads where you can [bleep] about god's existence.
  6. ^^ its harder to kill people with knives instead of guns, unless your a professional knife murderer *cough*evil mumm ra*cough* But yeah I'm hoping the Chicago Police can start going all out on gangs. The problem is they're usually outnumbered when they find a gang. Once at new years day (late 90s I think) a group of 300 gang members took to the streets. They didn't kill anyone (thankfully. but they could have raided every street within a 2 mile radius if they wanted to) and not nearly enough cops were on duty. To add to the audacity of the gang, they had their gathering right across from the fire department. Two cops had a video camera and recorded them firing into the air, drinking, and pushing eachother around. Had someone driven their car in the area, they would have been killed. Had the cops been seen, they'd have been killed. had anyone tried to stop them, they would have been killed. The year after, the police department managed to muster several hundred cops to watch the streets and thankfully no violence occured. If we had more manpower we could keep this night vigilante up for most days of the year, forcing gangs to watch their moves. Barack Obama had promised to try to increase numbers in Chicago police department and other gang central cities. I guess only time will show us what will happen.
  7. Ah of course. Now people who don't believe in God have an excuse to say they're smarter. Because of statistics. how wonderful.
  8. I live near Chicago. The suburbs of Chicago are known for their gang violence, drive by shootings, and unprovoked murders. Every day there's another sad story on the news of a teenage boy or girl being killed for what seems to be no reason, or was caught in the crossfire of a violent shootout, or was mistaken for another target. A young life brimming with potential for success being killed before his time to the violence of gun use. Every month in Chicago Public schools students hear that a fellow classmate has been killed. And after every one of these shootings a group of parents and fellow gun-ban supporters take to the streets in peaceful protest. Just today there was a protest on the cold blooded assault on an 8 year old boy in his stepfather's car. the kid took several bullets all over his body but somehow managed to survive. Its violence like this that give Chicago and its suburbs a bad name. Check out the History Channel's documentaries on gang violence. Chicago is the channel's favorite subject for its gang documentaries. For decades this has happened, innocent people being shot in cowardly drive-by shootings, where the criminal can easily drive away from the crime. This sick violence has got to stop. I don't like the fact that I'm sitting here comfortable in my chair in my safe, cozy house when there are families out there who can easily have their children killed in cold blood on any given day. Second amendment my [wagon]. guns are protection from what? OTHER people with guns. If we can get these weapons off the street, then maybe one day a 12 year old girl can ride her bike down the street without being murdered in a drive-by shooting.
  9. Do commercial songs count? Free Credit report song was annoying as hell because it got stuck in my head. HksXMVhxdxY
  10. Didn't they make a hulk movie just a few years back? are moviemakers that much out of ideas that they have to make remakes of older movies and comics to get the next blockbuster? Seriously hollywood... get your own scripts. Not to be offending fans of such movies. Such movies can be exhilerating. but I think hollywood can be a little more creative. I mean come on, Dark Knight will be I think the 3rd Batman movie this decade. Transformers was only good because of its decent graphics and Shiah LeBauff (sp?). The 3 spiderman movies were overrated. Fantastic Four was actually pretty decent though. When you take on such a huge name and make it a movie, you better make it good. Names like the Hulk and Spiderman were names we grew up with. The movie had a lot to live up to. I haven't seen the Hulk yet, but Spiderman was a rather large dissappointment for me. Not that my expectations were that huge in the first place.
  11. *braces for flaming* I vote Greenday. They can get run over on the Boulevard of Broken Dreams for all I care. I hope they never wake up when september ends. Good riddance when they die. I hope the bullet in the bible goes through it and kills them. *continues with bad green day song puns*
  12. Hawt. But I think the RATM album takes the cake. especially once you read the background on Wiki. that monk has incredible self discipline. Me? I just barely bite back tears when I get more than one shot at the doctor's.
  13. Not sure if this has been said already but here's my cheap political joke. If zombies were after me, I'd go to the one place they couldn't find any brains to eat. A Republican Convention :
  14. If there is a god out there i dont owe him a dam thing I didnt ask to be put in this world In fact several times ive asked to leave looking back on it im glad i didnt... but what kind of an all powerful being create a world to serve him how disgustingly selfish to have a meaningless empty existance to serve a higher power ew hell no You act as though we are to dedicate every minute of our lives to getting on our knees and worshipping him. All God asks is you live a moral life of helping others. and give him one hour on sunday for mass. and give him a few quick prayers when you go to bed and eat. In return he gives you the world. don't act as though there's nothing you like about this world. he didn't create the world for you to worship him 24/7, neglecting everyone else around you but Him. He asks that you aknowledge him, respect him. If thats too hard then I think the "disgustingly selfish" title belongs to you. In most merciful religions there would be a belief that if you live a moral life as a Buddhist or Muslim or Jew, you deserve a heaven for whatever god exists out there. I would think believing in a different god than what's really out there and still living a moral life is better than denying that there is no almighty. what you seem to be saying is that its better to not believe in god than to believe in the wrong one, and by not believing in one than you better hope to god (oops! excuse me. hope to the scientific method) that there isn't one. because if there is, you're screwed. But hey! its not like living a moral life but aknowledging that there is a god out there, regardless of what you call him, will get you anywhere further than denying him altogether right?

when my brother asks me a question I always begin my answer with "I don't know..." and then give him the correct answer. Example: "when are we leaving?" "I don't know... 5 o'clock" When I pull out my iPod before I begin listening to songs I have to wipe out all the fingerprints and smudges on it. when I'm reading a magazine at a doctor or dentist office, I stack all the magazines neatly.
  16. With that logic, we could ignore every problem in our developed countries because 3rd world countries have worse problems. Stop using this "get over it. europe pays more" bull crap to us. Just because we pay less than others do that means we should sit there watching prices roll up and up with no end with the gas company CEOs (as Linkin Park puts it) "laughing their way to the bank and cashing the check" and our transportation and dependancy on oil are in jeopardy? Just because the UK is taking their gas prices with their mouths shut and their tiny smartcars rolling down the street doesn't mean we have to do the same. Now that I'm done raving, I'll try to put something into this thread. Toyota has already developed a car that runs purely on hydrogen and emits only water vapor. not only is this safe for the environment but the car gets 70 mpg too. Currently the car is only sold in southern california. but if we can get more places to buy such cars and enough hydrogen, we can screw ExxonMobil. There's also E-85 ethanol. already Venezuela has transitioned and is completely dependant on the grain product to run their cars. The only good thing about rising gas prices is that it helps our nation to find other ways to reduce their dependancy. Hybrid technology, carpooling, public transportation... we're on our way. Africa's sitting on a gold mine of minerals and oil. If the countries governments can find efficient ways to handle their resources (because currently the only way for them to get it is with american companies help) we can have Africa be a fully developed country and increase our oil supply. On a side note: I feel really bad for Canada right now. They get their own oil from their own country but then need to ship it to American refineries to get it refined, then shipped back to Canada as fuel. If they had their own refineries they could control their own prices. Meh, they'll find maple syrup powered cars eventually.

The problem I see with nuclear power in the US is the terrorist danger. At Niagara Falls, there is a power plant. It supplies a large sum of the East coast's electricity via hydroelectricity. During 9/11, this plant was shut down. It was a very high risk area because if it had been bombed, the entire East Coast would have to ration their electricity very strictly and many places would be completely out (and with the East coast being a major center for business and recreation, this would have been huge). Imagine if that location was a hybrid of hydroelectricity and nuclear power plant supplying so much of the US's power. It would have definitely been bombed killing thousands of tourists in the Niagara area, Niagara falls would have been poisoned with nuclear radiation, the East Coast would have strictly limited power, and the area would be a new Chernobyl. Killing what, 4 birds? with one stone.
  18. 0/10 (never heard of em, can't be bothered to look em up) Disturbed (points to avvy)
  19. Because you haven't achieved the next level of awesomness available only to those who find excitement in the most boring of situations. Why are soda cans so damn hard for me to open?
  20. He --> Kills you with his smile.
  21. Granted. you get murdered. I wish I didn't suck at basketball.
  22. in 7th grade our class had to memorize the presidents of the US. So what did we do? went on to youtube and found the animaniacs song on the presidents. with that, the entire class passed the test and knew every president. its amazing... Vvy0wRLD5s8 Then there was their Nations of the world song IDtdQ8bTvRc Wonder how much the writers got paid to write those songs.. plus there was one more where Wakko listed all the 50 states and capitols. I loved animaniacs! Good times... I also had Mario Bros delux on my Gameboy color. I got to the last 2 levels and till today I can't beat it
  23. Its not as if you can't join because your personal beliefs are atheist or you are agnostic. it's if you openly declare such views. as the person above said, he was an agnostic in the boy scouts and there was no discriminating. If you believe there is no God or lack a belief in God, you just have to keep those beliefs quiet from someone who believes there is a God. Parents of private schoolers don't complain about the fact that they must pay for their own student's tuition as well as the tuition of public schoolers because of taxes. Advertising in public schools? how does that waste tax money? just because it's in public school and public schools are associated with taxes it doesn't mean they are taking tax money. Parents don't pay per period of classtime that they could complain missing one period for a boy scout assembly is costing them for a faith they don't believe in. with that logic it would mean that kids who went home from school for a day because of a family visit for a religious day would get some money back for the missed classes. Using some public land? If I am correct, they still have to maintain the lang themselves. Our taxes don't pay for the upkeeping of their land, does it? if it did, then we might have an issue which could be resolved by just having the boy scouts hire their own land maintanence.
