Cool. I like this idea, although the drops seem slightly overpowered. I'm sure that can be tweaked. Also, why not add the highest-level Agility shortcut in the game to the twisting tunnel in the boss room? Currently there are no shortcuts at lvls 90+, so make it like 90 or 95. This would finally give a reason to train Agility past the previous relatively low max levels. Maybe associate access to the dungeon with another quest as well? The 150th quest is coming up soon, but 175th is a good long-term goal.

Additions to hunter! Still adding Suggestions!
smartme replied to snowball's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
I like these ideas. However, I'd like to see an expansion to Hunter that compliments a skill other than Ranged. We have enough of that already. If you could add some new ideas that helped other skills, like mining, smithing, herblaw, that would be even better! -
I read that same guide - don't use it. It's a horrible method. You'd have better luck collecting and banking potato cactuses or morton mushrooms and selling them for the price of deaths WAY faster than raising a cat. And those are rediculously slow money-makers as well. Sorry I can't answer the question, but it has been answered many times on these forums. Try searching. Also, deaths sell to TzHaar salesman at double the price of chaos. Check G.E. and see what the price ratio is between both and there's your answer. DON"T FORGET TO WEAR KARAMAJA GLOVES!!! I believe even the beginner gloves give the price discount (it might be the medium ones, I'm not sure since I've had the hard ones since they like came out).

Did you do all the archealogy stuff? That was my problem. Although it allows you to populate all the displays before completing the Ghostly Robes mini-quest, you need to do it again after. Only after you complete the mini-quest can you possible obtain the pottery with a symbol of Zaros on it. Without that piece of pottery, you cannot complete the museum and therefore the Varrock Diary. There is also a very nice lady at the front door of the museum. Ask her how you can help, and she will tell you which sections of the museum you have not yet finished.

I'll be the first to admit my inexperience with GWD bosses, although my 125 combat level would seem to argue against that. Nevertheless I feel the need to ask my question: Why do you have so much melee defense when you are praying to protect from melee? Wouldn't Karil's armor be better? Or else Sara/ Zammy Dhide body and chaps?

+1 Predominatly greens, some crimson, and even less gold and blue - always in sets of 3, although not 100% drop rate for charms.

So why are people not buying/selling as much now?
smartme replied to Fairness's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for the answer, smart person. Please enlighten me of the inferior, non-merchanting race though - why would anyone rig water runes or anything that's in high supply all the time, regardless of demand? That's the only thing I could attribute your first point to, as it doesn't explain the coal problem - and nor does the second reason, because I don't remember buying any coal for a while now. Also, mess around with the prices too much and Jagex will start dictating the economy more and more, I'd say. This is why I don't do merchanting myself, it's like sailing to me; discounting the poor joke, it's way too risky and a single ill turn of events may get you broke. Artificial shortages would explain why you couldn't buy runes. I apologize if I wasn't clear. Regarding the suggestion of JAGeX tightening their grip on the economy, such a fix would be very welcomed. It's hard to believe how few people are currently abusing the G.E. as it exists today - it's so easy to make money from money. I suppose in time more players will wake up and smell of the coffee of easy money and JAGeX will finally have to fix their system. However, despite numberous guides on this website and others, very few people (relatively speaking) are actively abusing the G.E. today. Without a fix soon, the economy's ruin will proportionally increase as more money is being dumped into this broken system, either by an increase in speculators or simply richer merchants. -
So why are people not buying/selling as much now?
smartme replied to Fairness's topic in General Discussion
2 likely causes: Speculators - Players like myself who buy vasts amounts of an item for the sole purpose of later selling those items for a profit without ever using them. We cause artificial shortages in markets which seriously manipulates prices when done in significant amounts and messes with JAGeX's system. An analogy would be speculators in America's oil stock markets causing oil prices to be inflated because speculators have no intention of ever using the stocks for anything other than resale profit. G.E. trade time limit - All items on G.E. have a limit on how many can be bought or sold per X amount of hours. These limits usually range from 10k to 100k for most items, several items have more extreme limits. Refer to the player-made-guide forums for more details. Also, there is a time limit between the last item you sold and the first of that same item that you can buy. For example, yesterday I bought full Armadyl armor for Fight Caves and then put them back up on the G.E. Even at lowest price, it could not sell until 4 hours after I bought it. Some players would panic and leave their item on min price in hopes of selling. Smart players put it on market price and wait patiently, like me. -
Does your copy contain the Golden Ticket? I heard JAGeX placed 5 Golden Tickets in their books to give players an opportunity to take an exclusive look at their British Headquarters. Hope someone from Tip.It gets it and writes us a good review. \ lol

Advice: Bring Dragon 2-Hander or Dragon Hally for special as they will provide better experience for you in this location. Sounds like a good training spot. If you want another form of exp at the same time, simply bring a familiar who trains in that particular skill. Particularly effective are the Hunter Cats, since they will likely have to move to engage combat or strike first - which triggers their ability.
-
OR it can be like the DFS Visage should have been. You have to kill some crazy monster to get the Plate Pieces, which then are attached to the Dragon Chain to make the Dragon Plate. Honestly, Visage should attach to Dragon Sq, not the Anti-Fire Shield. Maybe JAGeX learns from mistakes?

It's like a Runescape you can play with...Outside!
smartme replied to kazumaishimaru's topic in General Discussion
LOL I really laughed out loud. On Topic: I would love to have a handheld Runescape that operated on WiFi. I wouldn't change any aspects of the game for this though, just allow Runescape to be playable on a 7" screen with a stylus. -
Dan's Best Way To Blast Furnace Guide [Prices Updated 24/6]
smartme replied to Danqazmlp's topic in General Guides
I'd like to congradulate you on an excellent guide. One request: Could you please list the costs of unnoting one of each ore? Coal: Mithril: Adam: Rune: Also, is there any use for the Blast Furnace with Non-Carbon Metals such as Gold or Silver? -
Runescape doesn't lag. You lag. You're also wrong about this not being a rant - it is. Try updating your anti-virus or upgrading your internet connection.

Use all your gold and green charms on whatever the highest level pouch you can afford. Keep your crimson until bloated leechs. Keep your blue much longer, except a few for some random summons you want to play around with (like the hunter cats). Granite Crabs and Desert Wyrms are a beginner's best friends.

Answers: Axe hut and bandit hunt afk training still viable? Or are there better options? Axe hut - NO. Bandit hut - Yes. Better Methods? Pest Control is faster, Slayer is more productive. Killing Skeletons with Salve Amulets is also quite popular. Barrows sets now obsolete? Or still worthy? Any new better sets? If so, what are the prices? Barrows sets still offer the best defense. Newer armors are only Bando's and Armadyl. Bando's has better defense than Dragon, but worse than Barrows. However, Bando's chest gives +4 str and legs give +2, making them my prefference. Armadyl chest, legs, and helmet offer the best Range Bonus and Mage Defense, however they decrease Melee Attack, making Karil's still the superior Mage Defense armor. Whip still reasonable to train with? Or are there better cheaper items, possibly from quests? Whip still owns. Keris (from Contact! quest) is great for strength training on Kalphite. Godswords are also great, the Saradomin one allows you to heal health and prayer when using the special. Other noteworthy new items include the Zamorakian Spear (1.5m) and Saradomon Sword (9m) (SS is different from SGS) - both ZS and SS are 2 handed and can train strength. For Att and Def, whip is still #1, unless you want to consider the whole Zerker Necklace + Obby weapon which has never recieved the buff I was hoping for... If you stick with a whip, couple it with either a Rune Defender or Dragonfire Shield (antifire shield + Dragonic Visage) Still same ways to train skills as of 2 years ago? For instance: 1. Prayer leveling within your house still the best? Most effective, yes. Ectofungus is still the best, but way slower. 2. Theiving in the temple? Pyramid Plunder is the best. Until recently, blackjacking was also good. 3. Agility in the wilderness course? Until 70-75+ yes, then Ape Atoll. 4. Farming from allotments? (Any new seeds?) Farming trees is always best. Skill hasn't changed much. New amulet to play with. 5. Yew and magic trees still best for money/leveling? No. I'll elaborate at the end of this post* 6. Construction still leveled by making oak larders? (Man that was annoying) Or better ways now? Yessir, until you can do dungeon doors (also oak). 7. Any others you can think of that's now better? Get the Slayer Helmet from Smoking Kills quest. Any new worthwhile quests? As well as rewards? What quests will open up certain new worthwhile objectives? Not sure how long you've been gone, but over 50% of the quests from the past 2 years are worthwhile. Personally, I have a questcape so can't comment further. Pking I hear is dead, lame. Bounty Hunting sounds good imo, but is it actually crowded? Or merely dead. Can bounty hunting be rigged due to friend involvement? Can't help you here, never PKed and don't do BH or Fist of Guthix. I do miss the Duel Arena though, still no adequate replacement. JAGeX has made promises, but their slow response time is rivaled only by the government. Summoning worthwhile? Difficult to level? Expensive to level? Yes. Yes. Yes. At 52 you get a Spiritbird with unlimited Run Energy and 12 extra inventory spaces. At 68 you get a Bunyip that raises your health recovery to 9hp/min. At 88 you get a Unicorn that heals you silly. At 95+ you get massive Titans that dominate and a Yak that more than doubles your inventory. Lots of other familiars add bonuses to everyday skilling, like +10 mining, +5 hunter, etc as well as lots of very useful teleports. Read a summoning guide for more information. Charms are required to level, and are considerably scarce and untradable. Also, the skill is definately expensive. New zones? God Wars Dungeon. Smoking Kill's slayer Well. Again, not sure how long you've been away. Og'logg (As A First Resort) offers some excellent spa's that do some awesome stuff. Barbarians also opened the doors to Mithril Dragons. Any other major changes in the past 2 years. Runescape HD and fullscreen :) Zezima finally shunted from 1st place, but he is still obviously the best. -who cares? Best Money makers: GE price manipulation if you have 40m+ to start with. Personally, I merch with 200m daily, making a nice 2-3% profit per day. If you don't have the starting money, one of the best methods is Tanning Dragonhides (like 600k/hr I think) or Runecrafting double Nature Runes. Gold Ore has also hit record highs, and Green Dragon slaying for bones + hides is much faster and more profitable than previously. Those are of course examples of steady income - slaying boss monsters can yeild lots of profit if you get some good drops (hilts, visage, dragon full, god armor).

Disagree, my phat makes me feel very special. It reminds me of the good old days in RSC when I was able to work hard for my rares and feel accomplishments. Now I can just makes tons of money for 10 minutes of logging in near the GE... PHATs are a great accomplishment to own. I take pride in my rares. I play this game for myself, and could care less what other's care. You should too. Conform to my way of thinking! I am America, and so can you!
-
I don't consider myself rich, but I can easily afford a dozen GS. I regularly merchant around 200m per day on GE, and there are plenty of others just like me. While the GE made low-end merchanting suffer, high-end merchanting is doing wonderfully. It's soooooooo easy to toy with the prices of items you could care less about and come out with a huge profit. On topic: Godswords will rise, then fall. However, the rising period will last a nice little while, I'd estimate 2weeks - 1month. What could hasten the price fall? 1) Nerfs to lending. 2) Buffs to lending. 3) Discovery of a dupe or stealing of GS - I've already read on other sites methods that worked yesterday to steal hilts, even one that claimed duping but the latter didn't have any proof.

This is what I am talking about. I didn't know we could trade pouches for charms. I haven't played since March. (That is what I meant by out of it for 3 months) That statement is incorrect. Pouches can be traded in for Spirit Shards, not charms. The amount is equivalent to 70% of the amount of charms it normally costs to create the pouch. Also, there are summoning level requirements on turning in pouches. On topic: Law runes hit 340 this weekend, and now dropped below 335 :(
-
took the time?!?!?!?!?! what are you talking about.... if (running == true) { chanceOfSuccess -= .04; } Yes I know it wouldn't be that simple, but thats basically all they would need to add. it wouldn't take more then 5 minutes. Once again some 1 assumes something about programming that they clearly have no idea about... *There is no way that JAGeX would take the time to sabotage a mini-game like this. It's not a funny joke, and not in the scope of the game's goals. They think they have better things to do.

Jagex, you're spoiling part of the adventure!
smartme replied to Tim_Finch's topic in General Discussion
Disagree. I personally enjoy reading spoilers and knowing what I'm getting myself into. There are sooo many quests that would have made me angrier than that Crazy German Kid (insert YouTube video) if I didn't have a guide walking me through it. No one is forcing you to read the spoilers or guides. It is solely your choice to read before you jump into an update, the option of going in blindly is always present. I have a friend who never reads the frontpage or any guides whatsoever. He's constantly surprised by updates that happened months ago, even though he's been playing 5+ years. -
There is no way that JAGeX actually took the time to program in a code that reduces your chance of successfully theiving when you have run toggled on. No way at all. Either it's a glitch with the system, or you're just having bad luck. In my opinion, it's bad luck. Not that I'd expect you to do so, but I wouldn't believe the results of just these few tests. If your data sample pool was larger (100+ trips) and you consistently come up with these numbers, then I'd have to agree. Otherwise, you're just having bad luck.
-
Incorrect. You just need to go upstairs in the castle and talk to the Duke. He'll give you one for free - and it has similar stats to an iron shield. It's a wonderful freebie for new players! (unless JAGeX changed that recently)
-
It's not possible unless you modify the RS Applet itself which would probably get you banned. Very possible. Create a program that emulates a full monitor, and place that into its own window. Runescape will attempt to fill the monitor, and therefore only use that window. BINGO! It'd be kind of like d2loader, except for Runescape. Undetectable because it'd be purely client-based, while not allowing for any unfair advantage because it makes no changes to the actual game code. Theoretically, you could take it one step further and write a bunch of mini-macro's that would allow "hotkeys" to be introduced, but that would be considerably more work and possibly against some silly rules. For example, pressing "Alt+I" opens Inventory or pressing "Alt+S" opens skills. This isn't really an unfair advantage, since F1, F2, etc already allow this. However, make sure to make it customizable because while I prefer to set my hotkeys to the left side of my keyboard, some might prefer the right side or num pad.
