  1. If somebody "donated" some Rune Claws to me, I'd use them! Question: can we apply poison to Claws? I'm guessing not but has anybody confirmed this?
  2. Knite, Thanks for the advice! Looks like it's time for me to put on a fresh pair of socks and do some runecrafing. Celestrana
  3. How about this "elite" area can be seen by other players but only accessible if you have a special 8-number long pin that you have to enter to well, enter this Dwarven Palace place. This 8-number pin is sent to your Jagex mail box once a month or once every 30 days as your membership counter counts down. Whenever you want to enter this "elite" Dwarven Palace area, you'll have to enter this 8-number pin to open the door and enter. Unfortunately this idea doesn't really enrich the overall gaming experience for everybody in the game and is making an "elitist" social group that might think once they're player moderators, they're allowed special previleges. I'm not saying player moderators don't deserve something extra but don't you think being a player moderator is special enough? I don't want to sound like I'm busting your chops but maybe you should rethink your idea a bit. :(
  4. What do you suggest instead of the timer? A super "Mysterious Box" that gives you three other M.Boxes that you have to open to get a "Puzzle key" which you put together that gives you a randomly generated "pin" that you have to enter on a chest that opens up and you get an "Escape button" that you have to use to get teleported off the island? Let's have some ideas!
  5. I think we want to get rid of the bots since that island will be very crowded after an day or so of bots being teleported to the island. Maybe there are separate islands for different bots? A Tree Island, an Ore Island, a Fishing Island (Celestrana: but what's the point? oh well), a Green Dragon Island, a Blue Dragon Island, a Black Dragon Island (maybe), etc etc etc.
  6. The "Bot Motel" is much like the "Rat Motel". The rats check in, but they don't check out. In this case it's bots. The Idea: The "Bot Motel" would be a random event that teleports the bot/player to an island or a version of ScapeRune that mimics the actual gaming area to trick the bots it's at the same tree/rock/fishing spot (Resources) it was cutting/mining/fishing. All the Resources will be in the same place, appear to be the same but behave entirely different. Instead of the Resources giving out their respective item like usual, it will give out nothing so that the bot's inventory does not fill up and thus they do not need to go to a bank. The only way out of the "Bot Motel" is by human intervention. Getting Rid of the Bots: Since we want to get rid of the bots, the one sure fire way is to permanently ban ("perm ban") the botting account. We want to give the person running the bots as much grief as possible since we'll assume that the bots are running totally without human intervention. We make this assumption just to keep the "Bot Motel" as simple as possible to achieve the goal of getting rid of the bots. So, under what conditions does the "perm ban" occurr? It occurrs if the bot does not leave the "Bot Motel" after an appointed time limit. On a server side appointed time, the "Bot Motel" is flushed of all its bots. This can happen on an hourly basis or daily basis, just to keep the time period reasonable. As a safe-guard to prevent players from inadvertently being "perm banned", 5 minutes prior to the banning time, no further players/bots are teleported into the "Bot Motel". Everybody that is still stuck in the "Bot Motel" is given a chance to leave by one of the methods described below. Since this is just an idea and it isn't fully realized, we'll discuss and determine what is a suitable "escape method". What Happens in the "Bot Motel": The bots will have free reign to continue whatever they're doing. Sometimes players will inadvertently get transported to the "Bot Motel", such as the way random events work. So, how does the player escape from the "Bot Motel"? We give the player an exit that only a player can get through. Here are some of the ideas that have been presented thus far. 1. The "No-Action" Action Timer Upon entering the "Bot Motel" the player will see a message stating that they've entered the "Bot Motel" and in order for them to leave, they'll have to wait a short time period and they'll be teleported out. When they are waiting, they cannot perform any in-game action with the exception of using the chat system. This is similar to one of the tests in the quest Recruitment Drive in which the player must do absolutely nothing to pass the test. The player will see how a red-text timer counter in the corner of their playing area, counting down until the player will be teleported out of the "Bot Motel". In order for this counter to start counting-down, they must not do anything at all. If the player even moves a step, the counter will reset. To not make the wait painfully long, the count-down timer will have a maximum of 15 seconds. 2. The "Mysterious Box" Scenario This is a "Mysterious Box" -- we can think of a better name later -- that you need to solve in order for you to get out of the "Bot Motel". Since some of the posters have claimed that bots can easily defeat this problem, here are a few possible scenarios that we can discuss or expand upon. A. The Wieldable "Mysterious Box" We've had some rather strange wieldable items before but never a box! But, as a wise man long ago once said, "There's a first time for everything". So, upon entering "Bot Motel", the bot/player is given a "Mysterious Box" on one of free equip slots. If the bot/player has all of their inventory slots occupied then it will go into their inventory and needs to be equipped manually. Once equipped, the player will have to "Operate" and solve the puzzle. We can discuss the puzzle. B. The "Mysterious Box", the "Mysterious Chest" and the "Escape Button" You're given a "Mysterious Box" that you need to solve to get three more "Mysterious Boxes". Solving these three "Mysterious Boxes" will get you three puzzle pieces, that when put together, turns into a "Mysterious Key". You then use this "Mysterious Key" to open a "Mysterious Chest" to get an "Escape Button". You then use/operate this "Escape Button" and get teleported out of the "Bot Motel". ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So everybody, submit ideas to me and I'll add to the main post to help flesh out the idea further. If this somehow becomes a popular thread, I might submit this onto the Official Forums. Anything to help us get rid of bots is worth a try, right?
  7. Otherwise known as the "Bot Motel", much like the "Rat Motel". The rats check in, but they don't check out. In this case it's bots. Maybe this can be a random event. The bot is teleported to an island much like Evil Bob's and the island is packed with various trees, ore rocks, fishing spots etc. The only way off the island is to stop doing whatever you're doing until a 1 minute (or 30 seconds) timer finishes counting down. If you're a human player, you'll understand this "no-action" action and wait for the counter and then you'll be whisked off the island and back to whatever you were doing. If you're a bot, you'll head to the nearest tree/rock/fishing spot etc and be trapped on the island indefinitely. There will also be item-stealing Imps going around, pickpocketing the bots to keep their inventory empty or at least low on items so that the bots don't walk off to bank their ill gained goods. Then, every hour all the bots on the island are permanently banned. Of course, to prevent players from inadvertently being permanently banned, 5 minutes before this set banning time, no players are teleported to the island and any players still on the island are given a chance to solve a "Mysterious Box" to get an "Escape button" to get off the island. The bots will not notice this and thus stay on the island until the appointed perm ban time. Maybe I should start my own thread instead of hijacking another thread... talk about totally off-topic.
  8. Knite, Can you post your selling prices for your dragon drops? Also, with my current stats, is it even possible for me to kill a Metal dragon? I'm real skittish when it comes to combat and especially fighting monsters as strong as Dragons. I was barely able to kill a Black Dragon for RFD. Any advice? Celestrana
  9. Whoa! There was an invisible button there all along??? If I'm not mistaken, hidden features like that are called "easter eggs". Since it wasn't a fully realized feature and it was just there in reserve, I guess we can't really call it an "easter egg". Game engine updates are always great especially if it allows Jagex to add in greater and more complex updates to the game.
  10. Although I relied on Tip.it's Quest Guides to get through many quests, I used them with the intention of "fast tracking" my Quest Cape in 5 months of members. Still, it takes a tremendous amount of effort to get the required skills and I still had to go through the puzzles myself. I'm not a rich player so I don't have amazing equipment like the coveted Abyssal Whip. Instead, I used my skills, wit, tactics and whatever inexpensive equipment I can muster. It's incredible how far the Rune platebody and Rune plateskirt can take you especially since I have finally obtained my Quest Cape.
  11. The amount of experience you get for runecrafting is by a per-essence basis and not a per-rune basis. That is, you'll get the same experience for single crafting Air runes at lvl-1 and 10x crafting Air runes at lvl-99. Hope this clarifies the confusion. If you're wondering, training Runecrafting is well worth the effort, especially on Members! A lot of the GP in the game is from players High Alching various items and High Alching requires Nature runes that you make through Runecrafting. If you only spend money buying pure essence from lower levelled players in Varrock and you craft Natures to use or sell, you'll be making a nice some of money. Even if you're not selling Natures, multi-crafting various runes is very helpful especially if you're an avid magic user.
  12. Another important thing is to tell all your friends about this scam so that they can avoid and take the necessary action against it too. There's always somebody somewhere that's trying to scam/con you and make a quick buck, in-game and in real life. The Scam works on the basis that every average human being is greedy and lazy. Some people are greedier and lazier than others to some degree and they are the people who get scammed more often. When you're offered something for free or something of incredibly great worth, that's working on your greed. When you're offered a small task to reap in great rewards, that's working on your laziness. The "Nigerian Bank Scam" is a classic example. The Scam: You recieve an email that roughly states that a Nigerian man/woman has just come upon a huge sum of money from their wealthy, elderly relative that recently passed away. They want to invest some of this money in North American businesses but is having trouble moving the money out of Nigeria and into North America. The Hook: They want your help to transfer this money to America by offering you 10% of the money that you help transfer. The more money you help transfer, the more money you'll make. Of course, the "offer" is an incredible amount of money and even 10% of it is a large sum on its own. The "offer" varies from $1 million to $10 million. The Catch: The only way the Nigerian man/woman can transfer money to you to hold is if you give them your banking information so that they can make a direct money transfer. Unfortunately, once somebody has your banking information, not only can they make deposits, they can make withdrawls and the Scammer will withdraw everything! So, the "Nigerian Bank" scam works on the two human qualities of greed and laziness. When something sounds too good to be true, it's always too good to be true.

Since you're planning on getting 54 RC today, shouldn't your topic say Nat running instead? I assume you'll be making Nats until you can start making Laws, right?
  14. To be honest, since the Ring of Wealth gives us a hidden bonus, it's difficult to say whether or not it increases the chance of a Cyclops dropping a Rune Defender. Killing Cyclopes is a decent training method and there's nothing wrong with using a ROW even if it gives the illusion of Cyclopes dropping Rune Defenders more often. I fight Cyclopes for their Rune Defender drops and Black Knives. Those Black Knives are a godsend for training range!
  15. I think completing Dragon Slayer allows you to buy Rune Platebody and Green Dragonhide Body from Oziach. I'm not sure about completing the quest in order to wear the armor though since I saved up and bought both of them after completing the quest. Off-topic: Do you all think it's rather "noob-ish" of me to be still using my Rune platebody that I bought after Dragon Slayer, even though it's been around 6 to 7 months since I've completed that quest? I believe, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
  16. Thats a little overqualified ... and wear rune armour if possible. Though you might want to train your atk to 45 ... shouldnt take long. I suppose it IS overqualified for that quest but I tend to over train for most quests that require combat, back when I didn't have decent equipment. RuneScape can be a scary and nerve wracking experience for the Unwashed new players.
  17. I recommend training your melee combat skills to at least lvl-50 or lvl-55. If your melee skills are at lvl-50, then I recommend using full mithril. If you're at lvl-55, then you can survive on partial steel and partial mithril. Full steel and a mithril longsword is also good. As usual, always bring your best food that's available to you. Can you believe that I survived the battle on an inventory of stews, at lvl-52 and full steel?
  18. I think I managed to get pass the hand holds at my current Agility level (61) and two Agility pots. If you follow the Mourning's End Part 2 quest guide and if I recall correctly, then you'll only need to use the hand holds twice.
  19. There are two ways to enter the Death Altar chamber. 1. Through the front door ie, going through the Light Temple. 2. Through the back door ie, going through the Underground Pass. I suppose you can go via the Abyss but I think you can only access the Death Altar from the Abyss after the quest.
  20. For both Dad and the General, Melee Prayer and just go in and whack them. Troll Romance is another story. I got lucky while fighting Arrgh. I was standing in melee range, had Range Prayer on and Arrgh was ranging me for some reason. Arrgh uses both melee and range attacks and they both hurt a lot!
  21. Ever since the Varrok graphics update, the Shield of Arrav quest has been updated as well. I was helping a new player with this quest and I made several new characters to help him and his brother both finish the quest. Originally, one player can trade a shield half to another player, put the shield together (or not, can't remember, it's been too long) and ask the museum curator to authenticate the shield. The player would then get two certificates and trade one of them back to their partner and both can finish the quest. Now, both players would submit their half of the shield to the curator and get two half-certificates. The partners would then trade one half-certificate to each other, use the half-certificates with each other to make a full-certificate and submit it to King Raold to finish the quest.
  22. If eating means you'll last longer in the fight and thus giving you a higher chance of defeating your opponent to get their items, then by all means, eat! Use potions, protection prayers, poison them, Ice them with an Ancient spell, teleblock, ensnare, enfeeble and throw everything you got at them to win that fight! Who cares if you eat? Your opponent will feel rather stupid when you defeat them and you Bones-to-Peaches their bones and scavenge through their death pile. And you might as well throw in a few Saradomin Strikes for good measure.
  23. I'll admit I've been a victim of a few minor item scams, especially when I'm selling stuff to players. I think I was selling a rune scimitar that I picked up while Fire Bolting Mummies in the "Desert Treasure" Pyramid -- I was attempting to get a second Ancient Staff. So, I was on a free world in Varrok trying to sell the rune scimitar for a reasonable price of 30K gp. After about 10 to 15 minutes of typing my sell offer, somebody comes up to me to buy it. So first, the person throws in 30K and I go to click accept. Next, the buyer puts on a bunch of junk like bronze pick, bronze axe, two ruby amulets and some other stuff but that's not important. Finally, the buyer clicks Accept, the second trade screen shows up, and in my impatience, I click Accept without double-checking the trade confirmation screen. When I realized my mistake, I was too late to fix it and the buyer says "Ty" and runs off, meanwhile I lost around 15K to 20K on profit from the rune scimitar. So I swear off some vulgarities in my room (NOT in-game!), let out a big sigh (both in my room and in-game) and go on with my skilling, knowing that it was a minor set back. :wall: :wall: :wall: This goes to show not only do new players have to watch out for scams, everybody has to watch out and be aware of scams.
  24. Check on the Official Site to see what payment options are available to you. You can pay through one of the "Pay by Cash" affiliated services. Even without a credit card (like myself), you can set up the "Pay by Cash" service and send the money in directly through your bank if you have online banking. If you have any queries about signing up for membership, especially on payment options, you should contact Jagex's Customer service. They'll most likely tell you to consult the Knowledge Base concerning membership questions.
  25. Eventually go through all of the quest. Many of the quests give some really decent skill boosts. Some of the harder, tougher quests give out Experience Lamps; in some instances they're "Ancient Tomes". You can get the Quest Cape in 5 months or less, depending on your current skills and how often you play. I started playing August, 2006, joined members December 26th, 2006 and got my Quest Cape near the end of May 2007 (this year).
