  1. It's such a coincidence that I decided to play Elder Scrolls: Morrowind on the weekend instead of RuneScape! But seriously, even if there was a data roll-back, it's not the end of the world. Plus, if there was a roll-back, it wouldn't have gone back too far. I'd say a roll-back would, um, roll-back a maximum of a day.
  2. Curved and Long Bones are considered rare drops. Like all rare drop rates, it's random, so there isn't a definite value. Search Tip.it's Bestiary for Curved Bones and Long Bones to see what monsters drop them. Generally, higher level monsters drop rare items more often than lower level monsters, such as it is when comparing the drop rate of Steel Dragons to Bronze Dragons for Dragon items.
  3. The day Jagex stops producing any new content is the day RS2 has reached its limit. There's plenty of black areas on the World Map that Jagex can add new lands and thus new monsters/quests/items to fight/perform/obtain. If for any reason RS2 has reached a limit, there's always the possibility of RS3.
  4. "Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime." It's better to freely give out advice than to give items. If the beggar is too lazy to pick up an axe and cut some logs to sell, then too bad for them. It's better to let these players beg till their faces collectively turn blue than to give them hand-outs. These beggars usually think the game is too hard and will eventually quit after being frustrated or bored for a few days. Honestly, it's up to you as to how you feel it is best to deal with beggars.
  5. Maybe this is as close to a randomly generated dungeon we'll ever get... [/hide] Ever heard of temple trekking? -.- It may not be a "dungeon" but its a randomly generated area Yes, I've heard of Temple Trekking but I've never really tried it. Maybe I should try an easy Temple Trek this weekend. From what I understand, Temple Trekking is a series of randomly selected events that you and your travel companion have to get through, right?
  6. Probably not bored but exhausted from a long week.
  7. If you're on P2P, you can try the following: - mine p ess to make natures; Mining, Runecrafting exp - mine the highest type of ore and use Superheat Item; Mining, Magic, Smithing exp - smith your bars to the highest smithable item and High Alch; Smithing, Magic exp Any sort of training takes time. Be vigilant and you'll succeed.
  8. Next time, bring an anti-poison potion, an agility potion and two energy potions. You should be able to make it over with no problems after potting up. Also, keep your inventory as light as possible to help conserve your run energy. I recommend waiting until your run energy is 100% before making the jump. It's possible that they calculate the failure rate using your run energy.
  9. I managed to complete Desert Treasure with lower stats. Use the Search tool and look under the Player-Made Guides sub-forum for Desert Treasure guides and look for any posts with my name. My posts were the tactics that I used to defeat the Desert Treasure bosses. If you still need advice, private message me through the forums. [hide=My tactics] [/hide]
  10. I'm a great fan of Tuna Potatoes. They heal 22hp, you can buy most of the ingredients to make it, sweetcorn is easy to grow, and you only need lvl-68 cooking to make them. Sharks on the other hand, heal 20hp and you need lvl-86(?) cooking to make them, and still with a chance to burn it. Although gathering the ingredients and cooking Tuna Potatoes from scratch takes probably five times as long, they're still worth the effort. Thank you Tuna Potatoes for saving my bacon on more than one occassion during numerous quests.
  11. If you're starting off your fletching training, bring a knife, wield your axe and just start clear cutting the dead trees in Draynor Manor. I recommend cutting the trees that are on the west side of the Draynor Manor front yard since there aren't many Undead Trees that can attack you on that side of the property.
  12. How about make cooking fish more complicated? You have first descale the fish and remove internal organs with a knife. Then stick the fish on a wooden skewer before cooking it over a fire or a range.
  13. Celestrana replied to a post in a topic in General Discussion
How exactly does this thread generate meaningful discussion? The one possible reason why Jagex has decided to make all future holiday items untradable is to avoid this "holiday rare" economy fiasco. One positive outcome from this "holiday rare" economy fiasco is the p.hat being parodied/satired in Swan Song. For the sake of a somewhat pointless discussion, a future rare would be n00bs.
  14. Maybe this is as close to a randomly generated dungeon we'll ever get...
  15. Having a good stock of Tuna Potatoes is a good way to survive the final boss battles for Recipe for Disaster. They're easy to make and the raw materials aren't expensive if you grow/catch/gather everything on your own. Plus, making Tuna Potatoes give some very decent Cooking exp.
  16. Each unique object in the game requires load time. It's much easier to load one Man and one Woman object and create several thousand instances of each object than loading several thousand objects and creating only one instance of each. Instead of the game loading in 20 to 30 seconds, it'll take two minutes to load all the necessary objects into memory. Two minutes isn't a long time but it'll feel like an eternity for those that have limited game time. It's an interesting but not really practical suggestion.
  17. Be thankful that we're getting new content instead of bug fixes. Imagine how it would feel if every other update was a bug fix instead of new content? People would be blowing off steam more often than they are now.
  18. Just talk to Historian Minas whith the Dagon'hai book in your inventory. You'll go through the same conversation as before and hand over the book as your proof.
  19. well I agree with the fact that the game is becoming easier by the month, but i don't understand the part after that. I played back in RSC, but I never noticed the fact that skills required thinking, even though the game is getting easier, Jagex keeps releasing content that requires more and more thinking. My favorite example is MEP2. Actually, that last part I was typing it at work and the day was coming to an end and I ended what I wanted to say rather abruptly. Anyways, allow me to continue. I agree that there was plenty of thinking involved in MEP2 and it was quite a challenge. I think it would be a change and a challenge for players to go through a dungeon that gives a new experience every time you went through it. Consider it an alternative way to train your various skills. Many of the mini-games target a specific skill such as the Brimhaven Dungeon, Pyramid Plunder, the Fishing Trawler and the Sorceress' Garden. But consider the possibility of a dungeon that allows you to not only combat ever increasingly difficult monsters but to use your non-combat skills to solve puzzle scenarios and to work with other players to get pass obstacles. Pest Control and Barbarian Assault are team-based mini-games, that I agree upon but it is still a limiting experience in that it becomes predictable. Something that is predictable tends to lose its novelty after a period. The reason Pest Control has endured is because it offered a very quick way to train combat skills and that alone attracts the hordes of players eager to become powerful combat based characters. I can't really say much about Barbarian Assault since I don't know much about it so I'll just leave it at that. To end my rambling, I think if a randomly generated dungeon is ever implemented, then it might be a way to invigorate players who are willing to face a challenge that has possibilities for great rewards.
  20. The difference between the randomly generated dungeons and Melzar's Maze is well, the dungeon will be randomly generated to give it variety. I agree that Pest Control is a team-based mini-game but it limits the player to only combat. The randomly generated dungeons should allow a player to use both combat and non-combat skills. The experience a player can gain during their crawl through the randomly generated dungeon would also be gained while they are using their various skills. I agree with some of the players that have been playing since RSC in that the game is becoming easier and easier to train certain skills. Where has all the thinking disappeared to?
  21. A 100-by-100 grid is a too, um overkill but would provide huge amounts of variety  but I think a 25-by-25 grid is more than enough for each dungeon layer. To further expand on my previous post, I think each dungeon layer can have a boss character at the end that you have to defeat to get a key or something to unlock the next dungeon layer. Obviously, the boss character will increase in difficulty as you progress deeper. As for rewards, every item that you pick up becomes part of your party's rewards if we are to follow the spirit of the "classic-rpg" dungeon crawl. Another "feature" is banking items, or at least allowing you to deposit items. I'd imagine that as your party progressed through each dungeon layer, you'll continually become bogged down by item drops that you may or may not want to High Alch or drop. So, to help the party out, they're given a chance to deposit their items at the beginning of each dungeon layer.
  22. Although this particular Behind The Scenes bulletin was way before my RS career, it is a very interesting idea. First, I think we'll need some sort of party system so that you can distinguish one team from another and thus generate appropriate dungeon instances. This can be done by a variation of the Wilderness team capes or a similar item. The second possible method is the Barbarian Assualt team recruitment where a team speaks to a team leader and signs themselves up. So, in terms of a party system, Jagex already has two systems in place and can be recycled. The randomly generated dungeons can be the "classic-rpg" styled dungeons in which the entire dungeon is based on a grid system. The generator would open and close walls in the four cardinal directions, creating the various rooms the party would navigate. To give the dungeon a third-dimension, just add a flight of stairs at the end of the maze and instance another layer to the dungeon. Each layer of the dungeon can get increasingly difficult as the party decends deeper. These dungeons can be generated depending on the party members and whether or not each member wanted to play a "classic-rpg" archetype or just as a generic adventurer. Each player, when they're signing up with the team leader can designate themselves as a Fighter, Ranger, Wizard, Thief or cross-class if their skills happen to fit across two archetypes. Then each party member must only bring the equipment appropriate for their selected class. As they progress through the dungeon, the only way to replenish their supplies is by killing monsters and using their skills to resupply themselves with food, potions, arrows etc.
  23. How about make two Permanent Ban statuses? "Permanent Ban with Appeal" and "Permanent Ban with no Appeal". So "Permanent Ban with Appeal" means you can appeal to the Jagex support to get yourself unbanned and placed on a probation period to prove that you've changed your ways. "Permanent Ban with no Appeal" means exactly that; your character is banned and there's no way for you to get it unbanned. Obviously this second case only happens under extreme circumstances such as if you were macroing or real-world item trading. To make "Permanent Ban with no Appeal" even more entertaining (for the rest of us, not the person being banned), their entire bank is Low Alched, all the GP split evenly to the number of bank locations and their bank "explodes". Basically, the bank suddenly rains GP in clumps of 100gp per clump.
  24. This is actually a good idea! An alternative way to train skills but where would we build this orphanage? There's a Cave Goblin day-care in the Dorgesh-Kaan so maybe this orphanage mini-game can be applied there.
  25. Maybe Cyrisus can act as a substitue for a Black Arm or Phoenix gang member for a future partnered quest. Or perhaps he's a contact for a future Temple Knight quest. There are many possibilities for Cyrisus to make a second appearance but we'll just have to see what Jagex comes up with.
