  1. It's hard to find a place that's absolutely devoid of whining, disrespectful, inconsiderate brats who's out looking for a wilderness fight in the hopes of getting your gear. Well, maybe at the Lleyta flax patch since these brats never bother doing quests because either "they're too hard" or they just can't read well enough to understand a well written and thorough quest guide. On a side note, I'd like to thank all the authors who has contributed to these amazing quest guides. You've all helped me get closer to my Quest Cape.
  2. Will Ditch-jumping be a new RuneScape pass-time? Maybe... I agree with The Editor in that some people will only learn a lesson if they were injured with it, especially if they were told repeatedly not to do something. Off-topic: The players who whine about being hacked should consider themselves lucky that they get their account back to rebuild their gear. The hacker could have totally hijacked the account and used it for themselves as a macroer, taking advantage of whatever skill levels the hacked account had. More off-topic: Will I ever take my purple party hat out into the wilderness? No, because I'm one of the few players who believe that extra bank space is far more valuable than a colored piece of digital paper.
  3. I vote for Runecrafting because of the money making potential, magic training, and teleports
  4. There were frustrating times in MEP2, especially when I didn't have a high enough Agility level to move across the pit to get to the Blue room. I fell to the lower level often and I decided to train my Agility up a bit and give it another try. It was a good thing I decided to train my Agility too, or else I would have wasted a lot of Agility potions. I was worried about the fight with the Giant Scarab, but after a decent amount of research (and bringing along a friend), I managed to kill the Giant Scarab with Fire Bolts. Desert Treasure was also a worrier for me. I spent a lot of time preparing myself for the various fights such as making Tuna potatoes and Prayer potions. Fortunately with my forethought, I arrived at each battle properly prepared. Recipe for Disaster was the latest quest that I completed. The first four Boss monsters were managable and I used the same strategies that I used to fight their other-quest-counterparts: Agrith-Naar, Fareed, Kamil, Dessous. The Gelatinnoth Mother was a worrier for me. I was worried that I would not be switching quickly enough between magic and melee (oops, left out range :? ). Fortunately, I was successful. The Culinaromancer was, um, ok. Fortunately, my Lunar clothes/Helm of Neitiznot/Anti-dragonfire defence combination provided sufficient magic defence and didn't hinder my melee attack bonuses to whack him to bread crumbs. Oh, can't forget about Underground Pass. Even thoroughly reading the quest guide, my hands were sweating and my heart was pumping! Why? Well for those who's been through the Pass, you'll all agree that there's very few opportunities for you to replenish your food supply, unless you're lucky enough to have the Bones-to-Peaches spell. The amount of supplies that you had to take with you was equally frustrating because it was like packing for a wilderness (real-life type) survival expedition and if you forgot anything, you'd have to go through the entire Pass again. :(
  5. Cool. I never knew you could build non-dungeon rooms in the dungeon level. Maybe I can build my entire house in the basement, like a fallout bunker.
  6. In my opinion, a character's "worth" is usually classified in one of two ways: their skills and the items that they own. The skills are all the in-game skills plus the "unofficial" skills of the player such as merchanting, dueling, player-killing, monster hunting, and the forbidden skill of scamming. Since scamming is against the rules, we'll have to disregard that as a player skill. Items are inclusive of the various objects that one can obtain by monster drops, purchasing from other players, creating for themselves and obviously, cash. A character's "worth" or rather their potential worth should be measuring the synergetic relation between skills and items. Players with higher skills have a greater potention to get more items. For example, a player that has trained their Runecrafting to a medium-high level can make their own Nature and Law runes to use for themselves or sell to other players for an item-profit. This is also true if the player relies on unorthodox skills such as merchanting to amass a huge item-worth to increase their purchasing power. With an increased purchasing power, the player can purchase skill training items to further their character's in-game skills. Although this is a very brief analysis -- more like an opinion -- this shows that skills and items are synergetic.
  7. Why not! Sounds like a crazy event. Looks like I should make a large supply of Bronze sets and change my respawn point to Lumbridge for this event.
  8. The ability to build any farming patch in my POH. With the huge amount of available space in our POH, why can't we have our own farm? Then your servent can also look after your crops.
  9. Same here. If the info was "leaked", then they must've caught it and loaded up an older version of the page. For those of you who thinks otherwise, the Arzanian mine is an excellent place for gold mining. Just bring an activated Ring of Charos and you can bank a maximum of 23 gold ores. There are plenty of gold rocks and viens so nobody has to be stepping on any toes while gold mining.
  10. You have my support as well. About three weeks ago, the TET hosted their own Temple Building event on world 137. It was an awesome experience! When my positive cash flow becomes more consistent, I wouldn't mind Temple Building more often, maybe even every weekend \ World 131 for Temple Building, FTW!
  11. Most of my time is devoted to training various skills that I need for finishing my last three quests -- Devious Minds, Fairytales II - Cure A Queen, and Recipe for Disaster (the final Boss battles). My money is spent towards skill training such as construction and certain supplies that I require to complete quests. Personally, I would prefer to train my skills until I can make the item that I need but sometimes I grow a little impatient and go spend my hard earned coin and purchase my quest supplies. Devious Minds -- TODO: mining training using the Goldsmithing Gauntlets but only after I complete Recipe for Disaster. Fairtales II -- TODO: herblore training to make the Magic potion. I'll need to pickpocket more seeds from Master Farmers. Recipe for Disaster -- TODO: the Gelatinnoth Mother and the Culinaromancer.
  12. My most generous time was giving somebody on my friend's list a Rune platebody after he finished Dragon Slayer. He didn't have enough money so he exchanged it for a large pile of cow hides so that I can train my crafting. This was also to complete his full Rune. About an hour after I gave him the Rune platebody, somebody scams him for his full run, supposedly paying him 1M gp for the set but instead only paying 100k gp or some other low amount. So, obviously, he PMs me and begs me to get him another Rune platebody because he was scammed. I told him that I can't because the Rune platebody that I just gave him heavily drained my cash. I had no choice but to tell him that he should have been paying more attention to the trade screen and to not let his greed blind him next time. After that scam incident, the poor sap has since stopped playing and I haven't seen him for months. C'est la vie. You can be generous to a certain point. After that, the leeches will stick to you and try to bleed you dry.
  13. Maybe we're going about this the wrong way. Instead of looking at high or low level players being jerks, we should be considering the maturity level of the player. We can have a very young player that's very mature and courteous to his/her fellow players and that's ideal. Then there are the young players who believe that because they are "children" and "online", they can behave however they wish because their parents are not there to remind them to say 'please' and 'thank you' and to not use profanity. There is also the "king of the castle" mentality that children can have in that they will not share anything with others and that they want to own the entire sandbox. To put this into perspective, think of this as a school playground. There will be the name calling, the pushing contests, the fist fights, the bullying, just because one or more child wants to feel dominant over the other children in the yard. Don't let this childish behaviour hamper your game. Children will be children and hopefully this behaviour will pass as they get older. Then again, there's always the possibility that their behaviour takes a downward spiral and they become a delinquent. Also, I'm not a child psychologist or any form of psychologist but that's my unprofessional opinion as an older player.
  14. Malignus Mortifier. Who doesn't love a megalomaniac? :D
  15. How about the Agility Pyramid? I think it's one of the most under-rated agility courses because I don't see a lot of people using it. Well, maybe there are people using it but they just happen to be on a different Pyramid level. I think it provides a decent exp rate, the Golden Pyramids at the top gives some nice "pocket change", and if you're ever bored, you can always head to Sophanem and play Pyramid Plunder \
  16. -= Contact! =- -= Giant Scarab (lvl-191, hp-120) =- I've seen many people state that they defeated the Giant Scarab using their Abyssal Whip. But what if you can't afford one? Will that stop you from obtaining your Quest Cape? Of course not! You'll just have to defeat the Giant Scarab by exploiting its (apparently) greatest weakness: magic! The Giant Scarab is not an opponent to scoff at since it can "summon" a Scarab Mage and Scarab Riders to assist it. You may wonder under what conditions do the Scarab Mage and Scarab Riders appear? So far no definite pattern is observed according to numerous player testimonies. Suffice it to say, you'll just have to fight smartly and use the environment to your advantage. The cavern in which you will be fighting the Giant Scarab is vast. It spans approximately 2-by-3 screens. If you're lucky (like me :D ), the Giant Scarab will appear in the upper-left corner (furthest north-west) of the cavern. (I'll go back for a screenshot. Braving that maze again is madness! :XD: ) The upper-left corner of the cavern has a few key features. To the north is the cavern wall, so you won't be flanked by the Scarab Mage and/or Riders. There's a skeleton that you can safe-spot the Giant Scarab using a halberd, bow and arrow or spells. And finally, once the Giant Scarab is stuck trying to get to you, there will be no space for the Scarab Mage and/or Riders to try to flank you from the area along the cavern ravine. When you are walking through the path towards the cavern, turn OFF auto-retaliate. If you're lucky, the Giant Scarab will appear where I've describe and you will have a very easy time defeating it. Turn on Protect from Range, run to the safe-spot and the Giant Scarab will get stuck and can only range you by spitting its poison-range weapon at you. Using your most powerful spell, concentrate all of your attacks on the Giant Scarab. Periodically use a dose of Anti-Poison and Prayer potion. Eat something if you were hurt while running to the safe-spot. If you're lucky, the Scarab Mage and Scarab Riders will not be able to attack you since they will be stuck behind the Giant Scarab's rump  . If all goes well, the Giant Scarab will be defeated in a minute or two. Osman will appear and you can finish the rest of the quest at your leisure.
  17. I've been working with Vista at work and boy is it different! It looks absolutely amazing, but it asks for permission to do a lot of simple tasks such as copying files to and from a USB thumb drive. Vista offers a very high degree of user customization but at the moment I'm very satisfied with XP.
  18. - Monkey Madness - the Mourner series - Icthlarin's Little Helper - My Arm's Big Adventure - An Enlightened Journey - Ghosts Ahoy - the Zombie-Pirate quests - the Myreque quests - Fairytales I & II (although I'm not quite finished with II...) the list just goes on, and on, and on... Edit 1: - Recipe for Disaster - Desert Treasure - The Fremennik Isles - Lunar Diplomacy again, the list goes on, and on, and on... (Let's just say I absolutely LOVE quests )
  19. This thread is a satire and is only to poke some fun at poorly written "guides".
  20. [hide=quoting zander459] [/hide] Well said zander459. This thread has been clearly divided into two camps: the "honor" PKers who are futilely defending their position, and the realistic players who see these "honor rules" as just plain silly. I've never been a player-killer and I don't think I'll ever be one, but it seems these "honor PKers" simply expect their opponent to stand around and get killed. Here's an idea, why don't you stand still for 30 seconds and see how you take my Red Salamander? You can use all the prayers, potions, tuna potatoes you want but I can simply switch my attack style on my Red Salamander to compensate. Oh wait! You have to abide to your high and mighty "honor" rules! Guess what? Maybe you can save me the trouble of actually DOING anything to kill you and you should just drop your stuff and run back to Lumbridge, which by the way is where that type of mentality should stay along side with the level-3 beggars, scammers and other player-archetypes of ill repute. Here's a better idea for all you "honor" PKers. Why don't you spend your time to train your combat skills to a high enough level so that you can make full use of the available game mechanics such as Entangle and Teleblock instead of calling people "def n00b" or "safer" or whatever monikers you've created! So if you and your gang of "honor" PKers were to gang up on "the Great Zed" (according to Forum rules, I can't use his name...), do you expect him to stand around like a total fool so that you can kill him? Of course not! He'll most likely Ice Barrage your whole lot a few times and have a good chuckle. Yes. Long rant but I just had to get it out of my system.
  21. Give the guy some credit. At least he put in the effort to decode it for himself. Good work =D>
  22. There are a few quest obtained "demon hunting" equipment that you can use, if you cannot afford the seemingly all mighty Abyssal Whip. - Silverlight is decent against demons around lvl-90. - Darklight, which is obtained after the quest Shadow of the Storm works well against demons around lvl-170 to lvl-190. The special also lowers the demon's defence, thus making it easier to kill. - To further supplement the effectiveness of these "demon hunting swords", make yourself some vials of Holy Water as done in Legends Quest. I haven't confirmed that you can make more vials of Holy Water but it doesn't hurt the try. The Holy Water is wielded in the weapon slot.
  23. mario_sunny, Recently I've been working my way through Desert Treasure and I've been posting my Boss tactics on another thread. Here's my input on how to beat Fareed, Dessous and Damis. When I get around to fighting Kamil, I'll post the info. If you like the way I've formatted my text, you can use it as is but please put me into the guide credits. The below tactics require a reasonably high Prayer level and access to many quest related items such as the Ectophial, Lunar clothes, Chaos Gauntlets, and Anti-Dragonbreath Shield. Spell Usage Note: If you cannot afford Death runes for Blast spells, you can alternatively use Chaos runes for Bolt spells. To augment the effectiveness of Bolt spells, use the Chaos Gauntlets obtained from the quest The Family Crest. Chaos runes are by far, less expensive than Death runes and a decent levelled Runecrafter can make a small batch relatively easily, especially with the new quest What Lies Below. General Equipment: The following equipment is a guideline on what you can use and substitutions. - Lunar clothes > Wizard clothes - Legends cape - Anti-Dragonbreath Shield - Helm of Neitiznot - Chaos Gauntlets (if available) - Ring of Life - Holy Wrench (if available) - Amulet of Power > Amulet of Defence - Staff of Air, Water, Earth, Fire - Runes for your best elemental spell (Blood > Death > Chaos > Mind) - A form of 1-click teleport such as Ectophial or Lletya teleport crystal Equipment Note: If you do not have Lunar robes or cannot afford a Mystic set, you can settle for "normal" wizard robes. You can buy wizard robes from the fancy clothes store of the following cities/towns: the Grand Tree, Relleka, and Canifis. Also, substitute an Amulet of Defence in place of the Amulet of Power to further boost your Defence bonuses. If you do this substitution, put in all effort to use your best spell against the Boss you're fighting, even if it means putting a dent into your wallet! Always bring any 1-click teleport, such as an Ectophial or the Lletya Teleport crystal. That way you can get yourself to a bank or pull yourself out from a near death situation. A Ring of Life does NOT always work! -= Dessous =- Dessous is supposedly weak against Air-based spells. Using Canifis as your "homebase", equip yourself as recommended above and add in the following. Specific Equipment: Runes for an Air spell Two 4-dose Restore Prayer potions Blessed pot filled with garlic and spiced blood 20 Monkfish (or your best food) Tactics: Turn on Protect from Melee since Dessous can hit 20s with his melee attack. Don't worry about his range or magic attack since it only hits 5s. Your food will keep you alive from his range/magic attack. When you're psyched up and ready for the fight, turn on Protect Melee and use the Blessed pot on his coffin. A small animation will occur, so start attacking him with your best Air spell. He will continuously attack you with his range/magic attack and it will hit almost once every two seconds. Keep an eye on your health and heal whenever your health is around 30 or 35; you don't want to risk dying! Go back to Malak to get the Blood Diamond and bank it in the Canifis bank. -= Fareed =- Fareed is definitely weak against Water-based spells. Using Nardah as your "homebase", equip yourself as follows. Remember, you're in the desert so you'll always need waterskins. This part also assumes you've managed to get the Warm Key by lighting the ancient torches in the Smokey Well dungeon. Specific Equipment: Face mask (buy from a slayer master) Runes for a Water spell Two 4-dose waterskins Two 4-dose Restore Prayer potions Warm key 10 Monkfish (or your best food) Tactics: The fight with Fareed begins as soon as you step through the gate. Turn on Protect Melee and walk through the gate. Fareed will start attacking you so simply attack him with your Water spell to send him to oblivion! Your Water spell will make short work of him and you will not take a scratch with your Protect Melee activated. When you've killed Fareed, pick up the Smoke Diamond and bank it. It's quite a walk through the Smokey Well dungeon to Nardah, so teleport out to your nearest bank. You do NOT want to risk bumping into the Mysterious Stranger with the Dragon Dagger! -= Damis =- Damis is weak against Earth-based spells. Specific Equipment: Ring of Invisibility Runes for an Earth spell Holy Wrench (if available) 5 Monkfish (or your best food) All the 4-dose Prayer pots you can hold, at least 10 for good measure Tactics: Prior to walking into Damis's chamber, activate Protect Melee. As soon as you enter, you'll be attacked by Giant Skeletons, Shadow Hounds and Damis's first form. Attack Damis and move back into the corridor that lead to his chamber, such that you are out of the multi-combat zone. Damis will follow you down the corridor and now you can handle him in a more reasonable manner. Cast your best Earth spell at him so that you'll kill him as quickly as possible. Damis's first form is cakewalk but be prepared for his second form! Now, Damis is in his second form, continues to melee attack you and can now drain prayer points extremely quickly! Keeping an eye on your Prayer points, drink a dose of Prayer potion everytime it drops below 30, if you only have lvl-43 Prayer. Use your best judgement to keep your prayer points as high as reasonable. Note that by the time you finish drinking one dose of Prayer potion, he's already drained 5 prayer points. Once you've managed to kill Damis's second form, pick up the Shadow Diamond, teleport out and bank the Diamond. -= Kamil =- Kamil is weak against Fire-based spells. Specific Equipment: Runes for a Fire spell (Fire Bolt + Chaos Gauntlets) Runes for a few Trollheim Teleports (2 Fires, 2 Laws each) 14 Tuna potatoes (or your best food) 9 4-dose Restore Stats potions (regular will do fine) 3 4-dose Prayer potions Tactics: This is assuming you've gotten pass the Ice Trolls that were blocking the ice tunnel in the first area. Turn on Protection from Melee and walk through the pack of Wolves. Once you're passed the Wolves, Kamil will appear on your map and begin attacking you. You should immediately drink a Restore potion and commence your attack! Kamil will attack you with both magic and melee skills, which his spell will freeze you! Your main concern should be your attack skills because they will be gradually drained. It is very unwise to let your magic skill drop below your ability to cast Fire Bolt, so keep it near your maximum by periodically drinking a dose of Restore potion. Depending on your magic level, it would be a good idea to drink a Restore potion dose whenever your magic drops by 10 points or more. Since you're using Fire Bolt in combination with the Chaos Gauntlets, you will have an easy time defeating Kamil in a minute or two. Once you defeat him, he will drop two Chocolate Cakes and a Super Restore potion. Proceed up the mountain, walk up the ice path with your [bleep]ed Climbing Boots and free the Ice Troll Mother and Father. You'll have a small conversation with them and they will teleport you back to the Ice Troll Child. The Ice Troll Child gives you the Ice Diamond. Teleport to a bank and store your Ice Diamond. Done! Since this information only concerns the Boss Fights, I won't be discussing the Pyramid part of Desert Treasure. Enjoy!
  24. Sounds like a great idea! I like the humourous spin on the topic.
  25. Thanks for the tip Menti :D Actually, I've just defeated Damis here's my setup. Equipment: Lunar clothes (with the exception of cape, ring, gloves and amulet) Chaos Gauntlets (from The Family Crest quest) Amulet of Power Ring of Invisibility Cape of Legends Anti-Firebreath Shield Staff of Air Chaos and Earth Runes (enough for 100 Earth Bolts; you don't want to run out!) Holy Wrench (for extra effectiveness from each dose of Restore Prayer pot) Teleport Crystal (for banking Shadow Diamond or emergency) All the 4-dose Prayer pots you can hold (the rest of my inventory) Tactics: Prior to walking into Damis's chamber, I activated Protect Melee. As soon as I was being attacked, I moved back into the corridor that lead to his chamber, so that I was out of the multi-combat zone. He follows me and I proceed to fire Earth Bolts at him. The Chaos Gauntlets boosts the Earth Bolts effectiveness to equal Earth Blasts. I made quick work of his first form. Now, Damis is in his second form and drains prayer points extremely quickly. Keeping an eye on my Prayer points, I drank a dose of Prayer potion everytime it dropped below 40 since my max prayer is 52. When I killed Damis, I only used about 7 Prayer pots. By the time I finish drinking one dose of Prayer potion, he's already draind 5 prayer points.
