  1. I think you should always have some form of escape, if it is possible just so you can leave if the fight gets to hot. Somehow this is going to be Barrelchest for me all over again. :(
  2. Darn, I didn't really like running for goutweed. And I don't have lvl-85 combat. :wall: I'll finish Devious Minds before attempting this quest.
  3. I was one of those Nice Newbs many moons ago. Every time I needed help on a quest or on where to find something, I would politely ask a higher levelled player that was passing by. Then, I stumbled upon Tip.it, read all the quest and skill guides and started on my own RS career. Those were some good times...
  4. Spottier cape and Boots of Lightness all the time. Sometimes I switch between my Camo set and Lederhosen set. Hooray for random event clothes!
  5. There's more than enough servers. Jagex just needs to ban more bots to get rid of more player "fluff".
  6. Keep up the training! Skills last forever, money doesn't so keep training!
  7. The Ignore List can be used as a note pad for short notes? Gotta try that...
  8. I agree how this can be a very good mini-game. Two teams, two ships, and a whole lot of cannon balls! This can also be a variation of Barbarian Assualt. One large group of players that fights an ever increasingly challenging NPC controlled ship much like the Penance waves. To keep it simple, the ships would be stationary and it'll be up to the players to keep the ship floating. The players would be divided into different task teams: repair team, cannon team, boarding team, repeller team. Repair team - repairs the ship Cannon team - fires the cannon Boarding team - goes on the enemy ship Repeller team - defends the ship
  9. The grave next to the gallows is one of the possible places that you can find Bob the Jagex Cat during the Tale of Two Cats member quest. There's a box of fish food on the second floor that you can use to feed your pet fish.
  10. They do!? But, must take a while, Or, people buy them Just world hop until you get to a store that you can buy whatever you need.
  11. Invest in an Amulet of Nature and you'll always know when your herbs have grown or has been diseased. I exclusively use the Trollheim disease-free herb plot and I've "attached" my Amulet of Nature to it. Then, whenever I'm skilling somewhere and my herbs are fully grown, I go to the nearest bank, grab the runes I need to teleport, an herb seed and replant my herb patch. Hassle free herb farming was worth the 50k gp I spent buying a Magic Tree root to make my Amulet of Nature    You'll be growing herbs one patch at a time but you'll have an herb harvest 100% of the time.
  12. The Ignore List works wonders when dealing with noobs. Long live the Ignore List! I usually go to areas that do not have many 'noobs' anyways such as Neitiznot, Lletya, Fishing Colony, Sophenam, Nardah or Port Phasmatys. These places are nice, quiet and I can see my friends' messages without scrolling through a load of chat history. Of course, I can just change my chat option to Friends Only or use the floating Chat-text. If a player happens to ask me a skill-related question and that it is a reasonable question, then I'll answer them. If they want to be lead somewhere, I usually tell them to wait until I'm done whatever I'm doing if it happens to be somewhere I need to go or give them detailed directions. Noobs are other players and they have every right to play the game however they see fit, so don't lose any sleep over them. They'll be here one day, if they break a rule, they'll be gone another day. C'est le vie.
  13. [hide=Dead_Dude4 pic of beers] [/hide] Wow! Planning on becoming a bartender? With that much beer, you make the Drunken Dwarf look sober.
  14. To the non-questers, if you don't like the Achievement Diary update because the tasks resembles quests, too bad. The update is now part of the game and you can bombard Jagex support with all the complaints you can muster but you'll just have to live with it. As an avid quester, I personally look forward to working through the Achievment Diary. Anything that gives experience boosts -- like a Genie lamp -- is always good in my books!
  15. Fairytales 2 is my second last quest.. still training my Herblore. Devious Minds will be my last quest but I still have to train my Smithing.
  16. Yes, very true but at least we can determine the current drop rate. It's not a total loss. And yes, I realize this data is useless if we can't compare it to the past drop rate. #-o
  17. That's an interesting observation, although it's been a very long time since i've killed any Moss Giants. Here's some suggestions to help with your experiment: 1. Kill 1000 Moss Giants, using your melee equipment with not gem drop boosting items such as an Amulet of Glory and/or Ring of Wealth 2. Kill 1000 Moss Giants, melee, with one gem/rare drop boosting item such as an Amulet of Glory OR Ring of Wealth 3. Repeat #2 but this time use the other gem/rare boosting item. If you used the Amulet of Glory in #2, use the Ring of Wealth this time. 4. Again kill 1000 Moss Giants, melee, this time using both gem/rare boosting items. The reason why I'm suggesting that you kill 1000 Moss Giants each time is because a large sample set will help you determine the probability of a gem dropping from a Moss Giant. Also, each setup will help you find out how each gem/rare drop boosting item affects the gem drop rate. By the way, #1 is considered your "control" data set because the gem drop rate will not be influenced by external sources. This will also help you compare results from #2 to #4. EDIT: Ah that's right! Thanks for the clarification. So to change the experiment parameters, remove the Amulet of Glory and only use #1 for the control set and use a Ring of Wealth for the experiment set. Again, having a very large sample set will increase the accurracy of the drop rate.
  18. I'd say the Achievment Diary can tie in to an archaeology mini-game to help the Varrok Museum expand its exhibits, similar to the Rag and Bone Man quest. You have to go through the Dig Site, looking for artifacts based on research notes and such that you get from the museum Curator or the researchers in the Dig Site office. Maybe we'll uncover more history behind the Desert Gods?
  19. Can't wait to see the new Lunar Isle quest and Achievement Diary. Lunar Diplomacy was a well written quest; loved the Dream World dialogues with the "Dream Guardian". It's too bad that all those important lessons/morals from the "Dream Guardian" will most likely never reach the noobs since too many of them are content with clear cutting forests instead of attempting quests. Achievement Diary == an alternative source of EXP boosts? From the examples already given, I've done of few of the Karamja activities like trapping a horned gorak (sp?) during my hunter training.
  20. I hope this new quest will be more of a challenge, on the level of a Master quest :D It'll make obtaining the Quest Cape even more worthwhile.
  21. If we are to consider the definition of a guild as a place where a group of people can congregate that have met a certain entry requirement, then I can consider the Colony as a "guild". In this case, the entry requirement is completing Swan Song and it's also a place for people to congregate. It seems many, but not all, young players do not have the patience to go through quests, even though there are plenty of guides on various fan-sites and there are more than enough seasoned questers to answer questions and give quest advice. This may be one of the reasons why we see a different maturity level in the Colony so on an "unofficial" basis, we can consider the Colony as a guild. There are most likely more reasons than the one I've stated and that's what we're all here to discuss.
  22. I'm still working towards my Quest Cape and I'll be honest, I used the quest guides. I wouldn't mind if a few Master level quests were in the next update, it'll just make me work harder towards my quest cape and under my own steam. Be proud of your Quest Capes and Skill Capes, however you got there.
  23. I like the old -- original -- versions of the quest guides. I enjoy reading the quest guides as much as doing the quests themselves. Here's my take on the ultra-condensed quest guides: "Do it!" And this will work on all the quest guides too!
  24. Now, if the Bracelet of Clay had 140 charges and behaved like the Ring of Forging, then it would be a worthwhile update. So, 50 sapphires consumed for 1400 soft clay... I'd rather use a bucket and take the extra minute to make soft clay. The "anti-disease bracelet" sounds useful except that we don't know the amount of disease damage we can take before the bracelet disintegrates. 40 points like the Ring of Recoil? Jagex needs to provide us with some concrete numbers. Actually, if all enchanted jewellery behaved like the Ring of Forging, then we'd be saving a decent amount of bank slots. :-k
  25. Yes. Alternatively, you can take a few minutes to pick 10 bananas to give to the man in the hut by the East Karamja Pier. In exchange, he'll give you 30gp that you can use for the return trip to Port Sarim or to use it at the Brimhaven-Ardougne Ferry.
