  1. Real-World Item Trading (RWIT) has probably been around since the first MMO came online (Ultima: Online). I've heard my share of stories of people doing RWIT on EverQuest etc and the problem may not be the amount of "fun" people want to buy with real money but it's illegal for somebody to profit from somebody else's intellectual property (IP). Such as the case with RuneScape. When somebody uses real-world currency to purchase GP/resources/rares from a black market site, the seller is profitting from Jagex's IP, which is NOT the seller's property. Jagex can make all their attempts to crack down and ban as many RWITers as quickly as possible, but they know the harm has already been done and there's very little they can do about it except attempt to control the situation from their end. I'm not a lawyer nor am I an expert on social issues but that's my two-cents.
  2. Even when you have 99 in all the available skills, all the GP you ever want and rare items, you can't really complete a game that allows you to interact with a large and diverse community. Sure, some community members are people you'd avoid because they're jerks/noobs/whatever but most of these people are great folks to be around and just hang out. The game will continue to evolve and I'm sure there are still plenty of activities to do. The Achievement Diary was recently released and I believe it'll become a large part of the game. As much as the game has to offer, there's always the inevitable time in which you'll decide you've had enough and it's time to move onto something else. If that's the case, then good luck on your future endevours for you'll be surely missed.
  3. You picked up somebody's death pile and even waited for somebody to show up and claim it. That's more than commendable behaviour especially since the average player would've grabbed and banked. The most I've ever gotten from a death pile was red dhide vambraces. C'est le vie.
  4. Why can't we have body tattoos as well? Even though it may not serve any practical purpose other than looks.
  5. Having a life is rather subjective. My highschool friends are all gamers and usually when we gather at our regular hang-out, we end up playing Magic: The Gathering or Smash Bros., which I'm terrible at both and get extremely bored, extremely quickly. If I'm bored or not enjoying myself, then I don't see the point of hanging out with them especially if all they do is game anyways. My university friends and I are all now working and it's difficult to get together to hang-out. Some of them are married or do not drive so again, difficult to get together. I'd rather go out and paintball or spend the day go-carting or biking in the nearby valley. If I'm going to be gaming, I'd rather game on something that I know I'll enjoy myself. Plus, RS acts as a giant chat room that I can swap "war stories" with my fellow 'Scapers. I'm an electronics engineer by training, software developer (junior level) by profession and I build my own electronic gadgetry in the basement. Staying in the house and doing your own thing doesn't mean you don't have a life, it just means you have different interests.
  6. Interesting idea but it's not really practical. Currently the maximum amount of Quest Points that a player can obtain is 244. There are a lot of avid questers and many people who own a Quest Cape, so it'll be very difficult to feel unique amoungst several thousand other people who has completed all the quests. Now, if Jagex puts timestamp on when you've completed a quest, then we can see who are true Quest Masters, especially those who race to finish a quest the first day it's released.
  7. I support the idea of publishing the Tip.it Times monthly. The other three weeks don't necessarily need to be filled in with Letters to the Editor but it can also be filled in with guest articles written by various forum users, especially on topics that are considered controversial. Controversy polarizes people and this helps generate discussion on the article, even though at times the discussion elevates into flame wars.
  8. My Rune pickaxe that I got back on F2P. That was my prime money making method back in my newb days.
  9. Maybe the "Section Under Construction" can be used as a finance section. The finance section can discuss various money making methods, which can be useful for new players or people looking to make a quick buck.
  10. Many of these trades are indeed extremely lucky if you never had the intention to scam your buyer and/or seller. I don't think anybody should make this a habit of trying to buy extremely low and selling extremely high with the intention of making huge amounts of money. There's nothing wrong with merchanting and although I'm not a fan of it, I occassionally do it myself. Lucky breaks are always good but there's a very fine line between scamming and being an extremely lucky merchant all the time. Becareful and don't cross that line. Being reported for item scamming is not good especially if you've spent months and maybe years developing your character's skills and accumulating items.
  11. I would take neither option. If I suddenly got a rare or lvl-99 in a skill without ever having to work for it, then I would not get the sense of achievement. If the question was "Which would you work towards first, a rare item or a lvl-99?" then I would say I'd work towards a lvl-99 skill first. A skill level lasts forever meanwhile a rare can one day be sold and the money spent on various items.
  12. When I'm on RS, I have the RS Client opened, the in-game World Map and Firefox with my commonly used Tip.it skill calculators and guides all opened up in tabs. I don't have a super powerful machine so I keep the number of apps opened to a minimum.
  13. I'm looking forward to your next competition/event. Maybe a mini-game event like Fishing Trawler or Temple Building? Although your Tip.it/RuneScape rap fell flat and everybody was slinging rotten tomatoes at your idea, I think we can try making a Tip.it/RuneScape song. This time we pick a song to parody and everybody can submit a verse. I suggest Bare Nake Ladies' "If I Had A Million Dollars" as the song we parody. It's an easy rythme to follow and I'm sure a lot of people have heard of the song. We can parody it as "If I Had A Million GP".
  14. Can we have an inventory update as to what has been accumulated for NAD? I'd like to know how I can best help this worthy cause. I can donate my services to the following: - making/gathering of range armor - making of iron sets - runecrafting basic runes: air, water, earth, fire - providing advice during the event Please PM me through the forum so that I'll know how to best help. - Celestrana
  15. I read all the rules and some of the FAQs on the Official Site prior to playing. Since RuneScape is (was) my first MMOG, I wanted to know what was the difference between it and other competing games. One point that made RS unique was the hardware requirements: you only need enough to run the Java RTE, which is great since playing the newest and coolest game cannot justify the cost of a new computer. Plus, the idea of playing a game for free was appealing too!
  16. If you're able to, grab a few extra pairs of Ice Gloves. You can't trade them but having extras means you can keep your bank organized. Also, you can use your Ice Gloves in Desert Treasure and while fighting fire based monsters. Although I haven't done any thorough research into the various fire based monsters, the Ice Gloves generally will allow you to wear/equip a weapon in your hands. If you're close to lvl-49 Mining, you might as well spend some time to train so that all you'll need is a regular pint of Dwarven Stout. If you've completed Fishing Contest, then you can load up on free Dwarven Stouts from the passage beneath White Wolf Mountain. It beats the randomness of Evil Dave's spices. Good luck and happy 'Scaping!
  17. You've neglected to mention the amount of essence to mine. 1k? 10k? Personally, I would never buy 1k of rune essence for more than 30k gp and 1k of pure essence for more than 100k gp. If I spend more than what I've stated, then I won't be profitting from my Runecrafting.
  18. You complain, yet you continue to play... If you don't get it, maybe you should move onto something different like World of Warcraft or EverQuest. You should try ProgressQuest. It's a zero-player game in that once you start the game, there's absolutely no player interaction required and you just keep killing monsters, do quests, buy new equipment etc.
  19. I like it! Off-topic to chenw's post: How about make Agility synergetic to Defence? It makes sense that your Agility allows you to dodge blows from weapons and things flying towards you whether it's arrows, knives, darts, throwing axes, javalins, spells etc.
  20. Perhaps in the far future there will be a quest that introduces the land that Ak-Haru came from and a set of exotic weapons such as the Bow Sword. Ak-Haru, or however you spell his name, is the Oriental-inspired character that resides in Port Phasmatys that sells crossbow racks and is part of the One Small Favor quest. The Bow Sword, as introduced in Devious Minds was teased in that a special technique must be learnt before using it. Perhaps as a new skill you can finally put the cloth that you can weave at a loom to good use; make them into bandages that you can use to wrap wounds. This can then be supplemented by Herblore to prepare bandages that gives higher healing boosts.
  21. Another fishing spot is on the north-eastern side of Karamja Island near the Fairy Ring.
  22. A tank implies that you have huge amounts of hp and that you can take a lot of damage. So a tank with low hp doesn't really make a whole lot of sense. Well, however you were training range, I think you should just keep going. If you want quick range exp, then your best bet would be PC although you'll have to deal with the immature punks that haunt the Void Knights island.
  23. One of the ways to get Black Nails is from the Ogre coffins that you open with an Ogre key. You're better off making steel nails or mithril nails instead of accumulating black nails since you only get about 7 to 10 black nails after opening about 5 to 7 Ogre coffins.
  24. To answer your question further, Ava's Accumulator (the green version that you get when your Range is lvl-50 or above) can pick up mithril and adamantium arrows but I can't be certain if the Accumulator picks up rune arrows. Most likely it can pick up rune arrows but I've never had the chance to test it.
  25. You're better off just runecrafting Fire runes instead of Fire Tiaras. At least you'll be able to sell off your Fire runes so that you can buy more rune essence to continue training.
