History and possible future of the Elves (theory)
Thanks for all the good reactions guys :). I'm working on a synopsis of the whole storyline, that way the thread contains all information on the Elves. So far I've already done Plague City. Don't hesitate to post your own thoughts ;).

History and possible future of the Elves (theory)
Thanks for the compliments. Ace, think about it and come back about it later. The Leonardo: Should I put 'future' in the title? Anyway, I'm off to bed. I just wanted to put this up before sleeping :.

History and possible future of the Elves (theory)
Every RuneScaper who is even remotely interested in Quests would agree with me if I say that the Elves storyline is one of the most interesting (if not THE most interesting) storyline out there. Beginning small with Plague City and Biohazard, the story quickly progresses into an exciting tale involving dangerous cave systems riddled with traps, re-establishing contact with the mysterious Elves, and a massive conspiracy which includes royalty on both Elven and Human side. Ive had much fun playing through these Quests, and now I have a theory for one of the biggest mysteries encountered in them. [hide=the History of the Elves]History The History of the Elves on Gielenor begins as far back as the First Age, which lasted from about 12000 to 8000 years ago. Sometime during the First Age the Elves were led into this world from another dimension by the Goddess Seren. They got here using the World Gate, a transdimensional portal likely created by Guthix. Seren led the eight Elven clans to a clearing in the forests of Tirannwn, where she'd already constructed the Tower of Voices. This tower was made of the very same crystal that she herself was comprised. It was decided that the city should be set out in an octagon with eight walls and eight towers. Each of the eight clans would have its own segment of the city. Each segment would be edged on one side by a city wall with its opposing corner at the city center, where 'The Tower of Voices' is located. This would give each of the clans equal access to hear the words of Seren and equal responsibility for the citys protection in the case of a siege. Seren then provided one special seed for every clan, telling them that each seed should be taken to the center of each clans segment of the city. Once there, it should be planted where it will develop to form a tower. The eight clans did this and soon there were 9 great towers in the clearing, each tower was different and had formed to meet the needs of the clan that planted it. Legend speaks of a vast space underneath the crystal city, known as The Undercity. In this undercity the Great Library is located, a huge and ancient collection of knowledge and arcane secrets. Seren used to protect the entrance to the Library herself, barring it from the malevolent and unworthy. This worked well until the end of the Third Age, otherwise known as the God Wars. The Elves had protected themselves from harm by shutting themselves in at the beginning of the Third Age. When Guthix awoke from his long slumber because of the wars being waged above him, he immediately stopped the fighting parties and ordered the Gods to leave this plane forever. From then on, the only influence they would get on RuneScape would be through their followers. This meant that Seren too would have to leave Gielenor, and therefore she locked the Grand Library with nine seals. To this day, the Library remains locked. In the year 1930 of the Fourth Age, the unthinkable happened. One of the eight Elven clans, which had lived peacefully next to each other for thousands of years, rebelled and took the capital city of Prifddinas. This clan, the Iorwerth Clan, seized power of the city while the military dominant Cadarn Clan was busy defending the Elven settlements across the mountains in Kandarin. Probably every Elf not part of their clan was banished to the forest of Isafdar, where they built the settlement of Lletya. According to the research of an Elven scholar, one of the nine Library Seals was recently broken. Some think this seal may have been Iban of the Underground Pass, although that is very farfetched. The evil sorcerer only arrived in the Pass relatively recently, and it is doubtful that a benign deity like Seren would create such an evil being.[/hide] [hide=My Theory]My Theory Numbers play a large role in the history of the Elves. The Elven race is divided in eight clans, their city is octagonal (eight sided) and nine towers stand in Prifddinas. Nine? Yes nine. One tower for every clan, and one communal building, the Tower of Voices. Thinking of this, I suddenly discovered something. There are nine seals on the door of the Grand Library. Seren wouldnt just have created nine because she couldnt think of a tenth one, she mustve had a reason. And why not eight seals, like so many other things? While researching this conundrum, I read the following line: Only together as the eight clans can we hope to survive in this hostile new world It was a quote from the Cerddi, the holy writing of Seren. And then it hit me. All the Elves needed to agree on opening the Library before it could be opened, so each Elven clan mustve been 'given' their own seal. This also explains why only one of the nine was recently broken, after the Iorwerth clan took over Prifddinas. They broke 'their' seal. But what about the ninth? And this is where the player comes in. Seren mustve known about the corruptive influence of the world on her lovely race. So she did not make eight seals, no, she made nine, and that ninth seal could only be broken by her. Or a person bearing her blessing. This way she still had the last say in the matter. I think the player will earn Serens blessing in a future Elven Quest, so he/she can open the Library together with a representative of every Elven Clan. A representative of the Iorwerth clan would not be necessary as their seal is already broken.[/hide] [hide=Extra]Extra During my research, I discovered a few of the eight clan names. Most of them are unknown at this point, and the ones available are hard to find. These ones are known: * Cadarn Clan known members: Baxtorian Cadarn Islwyn Cadarn * Iorwerth Clan known members: Lord Iorwerth Probably all the Mourners and Elves in Prifddinas * Ithell family (only mentioned in Crystal Singing for Beginners) * Edern known members: Nissyen Edern Iestin Edern It is unknown whether the Ithell and Edern families are real clans or not. It is possible that families exist within the clans, although nothing is known about that. Furthermore it puzzles me that Nissyen Edern is a Mourner (secret force of the Iorwerth Clan), but at the same time a member of the Edern family.[/hide]----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Phew, what a mouthful. What do you think of my theory? Is it spot-on? Or am I blind and ignoring something which turns my thinking into complete nonsense? Discuss please!

Player's allignment to Zaros?
I see that two evenly powerful gods would create balance, but in my eyes having only one "supreme" god (Guthix) who works to preserve balance wouldn't cause imbalance :|.

Music in RS
Ha, I know what you mean. The Route of All Evil is a great track, especially for a MIDI, I often use it for training sessions. Why not approach music in the same way as Jagex has approached graphics? Make every song (and everything that would benefit in quality for being an MP3) have two versions, a MIDI file (Low Quality) and an MP3 (High Quality) for faster computers. That way those who can handle it ,which I reckon would be a fairly large portion of the Runescape population, will get some sounds coming from this game that are hopefully fairly decent, and yet we won't lose the accessibility factor for those with lower-end computers. Music is one of the few things left in the game that still frankly isn't very good compared to other games of this genre. I like your idea very much. I think the game would get a whole new dimension if music would be updated to MP3. The same counts for movies. Everything's a whole lot less interesting if you turn the music off. Furthermore, I like to play every new quest and all the new content with RS music on, it's just part of the fun for me :).

The Mystics - Can The Head Mystic Be The Mahjarrat Sliske?!
As said before, the Mystics are enlisting adventurers to help them gather enough clay for an army of Revenants. Which God they're following (or is deceiving them) is unknown, but it can't be a good one. Or they really believe Revenants themselves are some kind of deity. The Wilderness used to be a big part of Zaros' Empire, which fell after Zamorak defeated Zaros. The void of power created after the Empire fell made that every race tried to seize power, which culminated and escalated into the God Wars. Ancient Magicks is Zarosian magic, and the teleports to the Wilderness used to lead to his fortresses.

Next week Dutch, Portugese and Finnish RS forums!
Wow Stormrage, I didn't know you were Dutch! Looks like we've infiltrated every layer of society, eh? :P As for your Dutch comment, I think I'll stick to the English forums, like Fadooda. My English is good anyway, and everything sounds a lot nicer. Maybe I'll point out some mistakes there, otherwise... mwah.

Next week Dutch, Portugese and Finnish RS forums!
Dutchies ftw :P It's a nice thing, but I think most of the Dutch forums will be filled with underaged kids asking questions about everything. Most of the people who play RuneScape in my area are like... 10 or something :?.

Some 'blogger' parent thinks RS makes kids fat
... I am appalled! This woman stupified me with her ignorance, her idiocity. I am blinded by the sheer pointlessness and wrongness of this sick excuse for a blog. Her foolish attempts to look intelligent and thoughtfull have failed undeniably. It fooled no one and never will fool anyone. My sympathy goes out to each and every thing in this universe, be it man, woman, child, pet, cloud, wallpaper or rock which has to endure seeing this woman alive and capable of writing such trash. It seems that balance really is omnipresent in this world, for the horde of brainless nitwits continues to grow while the good part of civilization learns ever more. I guess there must be equality. And in case it's fake, good job :P

9th April 2009 - New Dwarf Quest: Diary 2
I like the new style of DD's. I was like I hoped it would be. Sure, if you look at them individually they're all short and uninteresting, but together it's a nice series full of info. You get to see how much work goes into these things, and I'm looking forward to the quest itself more than before these DD's. Also I think it'll be fun to notice that some things in the quest were mentioned in the Diaries.

A Nostalgic Look at Holidays Past
It wasn't super awesome or anything, but it's better than nothing right? (You could say it's not, as they 'waste' time otherwise spent on good updates, but I'm ignoring that). Although, as said before, Hallowe'en and Christmas 2008 were better. They rocked :twss:!

Welcome F2P! (To the forums)

ok whatever you're trying to do, stop it. Replacing words with anagrams is just annoying. also, no one wants your cookies. they're probably hard anyway. +1, is this some kind of joke?

Decoding the chaos elemental!
This obviously hints at the Fairy quests, which seems to be planned in June. From the sound of it it looks like they're working towards the finale for that series. I get the first sentence (Fairy dictator attacks royalty), but I don't get the rest. It seems June is a person, to my knowledge there is no June in RuneScape. The month Bennath is equivalent to March 19 - April 19 btw. I'm not really into decoding messages, however, about the June part i might have an idea. It says something about stars entertaining June. What about Juna, the stars being these light creatures. And as you see, i'm getting stuck already. Could it have to do with the mahjarrats/dragonkins? (Could be that someone had already figured the june part out, but I haven't read the whole thread). No one figured it out yet, but your theory is certainly not bad. But while rereading the post you quoted, I noticed something I hadn't noticed before: "When" is capitalized. In the first half of the sentence, "The" is capitalized too, and that results in correct capitalization of "Fairy Tale". So maybe we should look at that strange "When" too?

Decoding the chaos elemental!
I just read the opening post again, and would just like to point something out. Zanaris isn't in a cave beneath Lumbridge Swamp, it's another dimension. So if the area gets waterlogged the shed won't fall into Zanaris.

Decoding the chaos elemental!
What if the "scopes" it talks about here arn't telescopes but the mirrors you look through in the desert treasure quest. Another theory: What if by scopes it is a reference to the real life trial of John Scopes about teaching evolution in school. If this is the case maybe it's saying a mahjarrat will evolve, maybe to godhood. What if the sacrifice isn't the weak one, but the strong one? Mahjarrat sacrifice the strongest mahjarrat so they can go join the gods, in turn that mahjarrat helps the mahjarrat still alive. That could explain while lucien was trying to get the stone of jas and the staff of armadyl. I'm guessing maybe they'd have to fight the gods so only the strongest gets to go. Yeah I know, in my theory I completely flipped around everyone's thoughts. I don´t really think Jagex would refer to recent news from the ´real world´, and it sounds a rather dangerous topic too, with religious people possibly getting offended and all...

Decoding the chaos elemental!
We already know what is behind the mithril door. It is the Dragon Furnace. We know this from WGS. It's how you smith dragon platebodies. Already said that 5 minutes ago :-w and without giving big spoilers ^^ Anyhow, at least it's said Stupid spoilers :wall: By the time I can do the quest I'll probably know the whole story already, from beginning to end and backwards -.-.

Decoding the chaos elemental!
i don't thnk those are anagrams, mainly because they make sense. sirrah could refer to pretty much anyone, curious village could be witchaven or something, and the sheds could be the zanaris shed? I'm not sure they're anagrams either, but it's worth a try in my opinion. By the way, I think 'sheds' doesn't necessarily mean shacks. You can shed tears, skin, hair. It could mean the Tears of Guthix are in trouble. Shedding can also mean "to cause (blood) to flow by cutting or wounding", indicating the Vampyres may get in trouble with their already dwindling blood tithe revenue. EDIT: I find it interesting that you can form 'Tyras' with the letters from 'the sheds are heavy'. Although Tyras is (presumably) dead and Mod MMG said that the next Elven Quest won't be for a while.

Decoding the chaos elemental!
I agree with you, but did you know you can actually see through the WOM's telescope? And when you do, you see the Wizard's Tower up close. So it is pointed at the tower. In other news, this may be usefull: And maybe people who are good with anagrams can look at these? - the sheds are heavy - what a curious village - sirrah is dead
