  1. I disagree. I've got a quest cape, and I've 'successfully' fought Jad a couple of times (yes, I died. Redbarred him once :) ), but I view any other skillcape as a far more respectable cape. Being able to do the same thing over and over takes far more dedication than doing interesting quests, or running around safespots for a couple of hours.
  2. Paw_Claw: My point was one of semantics, not one with any relation to the original topic. There was no need for the insult - perhaps you're the one having difficulty reading. Glad to see you're now saying 'attempting' instead of 'looting'. Oh, and by the by, I don't believe this test holds any value either.
  3. 1. Consumables (Food, runes + staves, logs) 2. General store items, skilling gear (Varrock armour, weight-reducing stuff, dramen staff, jewellery) 2. Farming (Watering can, seeds, etc) 3. Herblore 4. Crafting, mining and smithing (+ Pickaxe) 5. Summoning 6. Ranged + Magic armour 7. Melee armour & weapons 8. Misc :? I think that covers just about everything in my bank. Ooh, I can't wait :
  4. QFE. You have to read the rules before you start playing, and if something 'slips out', it's your own fault. It's not like Jagex is cutting out your tongue; they're just making sure nothing else 'slips out'.
  5. There were enough "omgzz whrere r the snows 2 start quest 2 get snoeglobe?!!" threads last Christmas. Jagex is simply catering to the majority of players - a group which is getting steadily younger, unfortunately.
  6. Yes but to fail more than once you have to loot it more than once ergo his facts r crazy. If he looted every urn UNTIL he succesfully did it tht means each ruyn is 20 + number of fails Which means they is no real control to it as each test will of had a different amount of attempted lootings, to draw real data from it not only do you need more results as the poster said above me but also you need more controlled data as in you loot 20 urns, as in you only loot each once and log whether u fail or succeed that way each test run has the same number of trials in it. His data as it stands a 3 fail run has only 23 trials in it While the 22 fail run has 42 trials in it comparing these for doesn't prove anything because he hasn't done the same number of trials What he means is that you can fail the same urn more than once without getting any exp or treasure. It's the exp + item part that counts as looting. You're assuming that simply clicking on the urn is defined as looting, which is not so. On each run, he successfully gained exp from 20 urns.
  7. Gah, that post made me think they'd just been released. There go my hopes... Though I guess by the time the month is over, we'll have forgotten about the two-week drought. Ah, I can't wait... :
  8. According to the grand exchange, it's ~21m at the moment. The GE is probably his best bet, although he could try world 2. There's a 3rd age selling spot at the south wall of the Falador shield shop.
  9. Good luck with all your goals!
  10. Hm, half my playing time, slightly higher stats, 26 times my networth... Yeah, 10/10
  11. 10/10 Why am I even bothering skilling? The real money is obviously in monster drops
  12. Nice guide. I'm determined to try it, so I guess I have some training to do. I managed to survive the attacks of all 3 minions and the general while in a team run, so maybe it's possible at my stats... But not without a godsword. 10/10.
  13. I'd love a pet reindeer, but I kind of liked the idea of an 'opening present' emote. I'd love to unwrap a box, and have my face literally light up as glittering tinsel and baubles burst out, float and disappear.
  14. The fog is a little strange... They could have set its density lower, and set its offset a little lower too. That would make the transition smoother - although I'm talking out of experience from using the Crysis sandbox, and I have no idea what java can do. The quality of updates does seem to have risen dramatically, I'm really glad I took out a membership this month.
  15. The volume and quality of updates are astounding. Jagex have totally blown claims of non-caring out of the water - some of these things are updates that have been suggested for ages, and they're finally delivering. Apart from the quest, I can't see any of these updates being let-downs - I'm really looking forward to them. And the bank tab thing! I'll finally have the ability to properly organize my miscellania, if I may coin a phrase. *Takes off cliché cap*
  16. It worked on me, and I don't see it as a cheap shot. I'm sure there are a few other factors that caused Jagex to release it as a member-only beta, but I fail to see how it would be underhanded even if money was the only factor.
  17. Well, not completely. I have like 100k to work with, but that's really not much. I'm wanting to gain those 7 smithing levels quickly, but I have no idea how. I'm a complete smithing noob. I could mine enough coal and iron for 69, but that'd be 12k coal and 6k iron, and I just don't have the patience. I can gain money fairly quickly, but I'm not sure if that would be faster than just mining the materials - I'd estimate the coal and iron to cost ~3m. I'm P2P, and I've got access to goldsmithing gauntlets, and every other quest-related smithing bonus, so I can make cannonballs or mine gold in that giant dwarven mine. So, any thoughts? What would be the fastest way of getting to 69, taking into account my current amount of gold? The rest of my stats are in my sig.

I don't see any point in even attempting to debunk the Bible - it simply cannot be done. A few days ago, I had an argument with a theist over whether God has the power to do anything. Even though the term 'omnipotence' does not technically mean a being has the ability to do anything, there are direct biblical references to God being able to do anything. He dismissed them as 'mistranslations', so I referenced a few other translations. All erroneous. In the end, I'd offered like 15 quotes, and he'd denied them all. If Christians don't cherry-pick the parts that suit them, they'll just outright deny the bad parts, which is just as pitiful.
  19. It's not right or wrong, it just is. Religion isn't a good enough reason - honestly, I can't respect people who persecute other people because 'God sez its wrong lol'.
  20. Sure, you have a right to your opinion, but that doesn't make you totally and demonstrably wrong. The second sentence really disturbs me.
  21. The way I see it, Runescape has two elements: The MMO element, and the RPG element. Even though they usually effect each other, they're two very different things. The MMO element is obviously the players - your friends, to be precise. That's probably the main reason people play Runescape. Friends can help you with quests and challenges, play minigames with you, and chat. I mean, who wouldn't want that? We're a social species. Then there's the RPG aspect. Ultimately, almost anything we do in the game is to gain money. You raise your skill levels to be able to fight bigger monsters, make better items. Then, you sell the drops and goods, and gain money. Sure, there's a strong sense of achievement, but I really doubt anyone would work towards that bandos chestplate if all chest items looked exactly the same. It would help you fight bigger monsters, but who cares, if nobody knows what they're wearing, or what they're fighting? With all this said, however, I can usually be seen wearing rune armour and boots of lightness, with a dragon scimitar. That in itself is an invitation for ridicule at level 107.
  22. I guess they still need to sort out a few POH issues. Also, why does my penance skirt look awful?
  23. 8800GTS is basically the best video card the average person can get. Of course hes not going to lag. Unless you built a custom computer though or bought a very new or expensive computer most people probably do not have those. As for what I dislike.... I am not even going to try PVP because if I switch areas I will have to load for like 2 minutes and end up dead. I can run Crysis on high at about 20FPS, using an 8800GTS. There is no way you need a card that powerful to play Runescape. However, people do need to realise that graphical quality does rely on your hardware. I'm about to buy a GTX280, because I want to be able to get good framerates in future PC releases. IMO, Jagex didn't need to include ambient lighting, parallax occlusion mapping and other memory-hogging features, but they did, and that's why it's called HD. If you don't have the hardware needed to achieve smooth framerates, either buy better hardware, or play on low detail.
  24. Playing Runescape at 1680x1050 res is almost enough incentive to re-buy my membership. And perhaps an excuse to buy a GTX 280... Agh, the screenshots look so pretty :? Plus, in f2p my character looks like a violently twitching pile of clay. Also, I find it odd that the beta is only being offered to members. Maybe Jagex (perhaps rightly) believe f2pers won't be as effective at weeding out bugs as members, but it strikes me as odd that something which will be available to everyone is, for the moment, being reserved for members. I'm beginning to think this beta might last for a while...
  25. no low alch is same as sell to gen and high alch is same as buy from speciality (i think, might be wrong way round.) High alch is the same as selling to a specialty shop, or Martin Thwait. At least, it used to work with Martin Thwait..
