  1. you'll notice it's gone a lot darker again, dont any of you worry about it, thats my job to fix on updates :wall: ..
  2. :ohnoes: :ohnoes: gah thats it im dead.. Eck's gone all serious, im scared lol.. im gettin excited now, the people get enthused the more I want to do something fun \ I dun mind waiting, but for now Im really behind with my work.. Cyaz :o
  3. so people using dialup cry. haha I find it very hard working on one part of a character and working out and adding more and more.. Try drawing a character starting with the feet or something it just doesn't work, I'd personally at least sketch out in a really light grey your character before hand and pixel over it neat as a guide..
  4. Again I gotta say :uhh: I cant do anything really till 'after' Thursday :S, so can we not decide a starting date? yay xman you studmuffin, you.. I'll enjoy seeing what you do =P~ need more pixelers! this is gonna be proppa fun \
  5. oh thx, its hard to explain in words but its just making the most of your palette to make the transition between two shades less 'sudden'.. Take this squiggle for example, its just black on white, which looks a bit rough, by adding a grey half way in between the black and white and placing them where you think it would make it look smoother does it fact help it become smoother.. And to increases the smootheness even more why not add lighter grey and doing the same to the previous shade? added some other colours etc.. the shades you add to AA can just be the ones you used to shade with, all you're doing is travelling through from dark to light / one colour through to another... dithering is similar but adds the illustion of smoothness without the addition of more colours by patterning pixels, basically interlacing two colours/shades.. different patterns can give textured effects, just experiment to see what works for what you're dithering.. you should be able to see were I've used these two methods.. Red arrows are dithering and purple is AA.. lol.. but really these aren't essential in pixel art, they're just methods of smoothening where you feel needs smoothening, some people do it everywhere even where its totally not needed.. Don't be one of them.
  6. I gotta point out that im rubbish at thinking of ideas, im sure you can all produce some amazing work if you take this seriously.. These things are usually also judged on ideas, style, originality.. Not just quality, Im pleased you people consider me as a good pixel artist, its all I've ever wanted
  7. well I thought she looked a bit bedazzled on the original :? hope you can take something at least from my crits, even if im wrong.
  8. aw I really like this :) nice for an avvy, simple and catches your attention. Like the little dance thing with the arms at the end hahaa
  9. If this is something to do over christmas count me in, im totally free of work to do from this Thursday (thats my deadline :anxious: )
  10. ok my crits would be this.. About her proportions I would say that her head is slightly too high, and her neck is too straight, usually necks curve out to the neck.. Look at her ear position, its way too low.. Her right eye needs to move a few pixels right, imagine if she was looking straight on, her right eye would be too far over imo.. Your linework could be made to look so much more smoother if you just took care where you place your pixels.. As for your palette you really need more contrast to add depth to your image, with your skin tones add more warmth to your darker shades by moving your colour selector slightly towards the red.. But I really love the posture and general design of this so far, I couldn't help making an edit :wall: its so hard to simply explain anything without showing someone what ya mean. Make sure you've got a lightsource, it looks as if the lights coming from the left because of the highlights but the darker shades dont suggest the same.. Hope my edit shows how you could possible improve your character's face and general shading.. Didn't want to simply finish it off for you because all I really wanted to do is illustrate what I mean about contrast.. The additional smoothness is just added AA and dithering which I personally wouldn't be worried about, your doing great so far..
  11. then I'd suggest drawing out each frame in paint or something and saving them; frame01.png, frame02.png, frame03.png etc etc.. and then exporting them into an animation program.. If the one your using has many problems just download a free trail animation program.. Ive got the full version of Adobe imageready and it is very easy to make simple animations.. as on this one, firstly simplify the figure into a blocked character/object or linework and work on the animation itself, and later on work on the colouring and details as if each frame is an individual piece.. this one needs colouring.
  12. yay, animation :) !! Not the greatest in the world but I suppose animating is kinda difficult if you're new to it.. The snowman could look more realistic but no it doesn't matter because you're still learning the fundamentals of animation.. With the ball it should squash as it hits and stretch slightly after bouncing.. I don't like using stick men as it is just laziness but im glad to see someone else animating something other than myself haha..
  13. wow this is looking much better now, pjb may live afterall  That grassy bit the the left of the cow and above my octo-ter needs something on it, not just a grassy texture.. something much more creative.. I don't mind the new addition on the left of the grid, as long as we get this done :) we're making great progress..
  14. welcome to the gallery echofish this is pretty sweet so far, I would just put more contrast in your shading though as some shades are hard to see and it doesn't give your character much depth.. Very nice style and pose, nothing to say about your anatomy.. I'll just try help it you have any problems through this. Goodluck with the face.
  15. wow, yes, I love this idea.. :D not sin u in ages Jab, glad to see ya postin work again :) this looks great so far, no crits so far jst really goodluck with this.
  16. 1.) Is there anyone at all left in this forum that wants to do pixel work for free? Yes I would happily make free pixel signatures, I don't pixel for any sort of profit and Im sure there are many people who would make free signatures too, I just prefer making signtures based on something really original and not the generic runescape fighting scenes or requests based on a persons character doing something pretty boring.. I gotta say I do check this forum every single day come rain or shine, so don't think I've abandoned y'all ever im jst addicted to this place.. I just can't post much work because I've got a lot of college work to do constantly and I got a deadline nxt week too :( :( But I do try to post work when I get the time to do anythin, and I do hope I post useful advice, I tend not to simply spam one liners on posts, if im going to post I make sure i've got something relevant to say. 2.) If you answered Yes to the first question, then please answer this too. What motivates you to make a pixel work for free, even though there are other forums that you can go and sell your talent? I haven't played runescape for years so even If I wanted to make some quick cash I couldn't, plus it breaks the games rules.. My main interest with pixel art atm is just sheer curiosity with the art's capabilities, it fasinates me exactly what you can achieve in such a simple program. Im constantly considering actually making some sort of game or challenge myself into doing some sort of live project.. 3.) If you are able to make other types of signature, like abstract, or vector, etc... Why don't you make some for people for free every now and then? I know Photoshop, Paintshop Pro, Flash, Fireworks, Illustrator, InDesign, Imageready inside and out, there's nothing I can't do and im flying through my digital art classes without a sweat (it isn't even a challenge) so I do know would know how to make various types of signatures, the only problem is that I prefer making things for a persific purpose, as im taking graphic design I mostly use these programs for packaging design, leaflets, posters or something with a developed meaning behind it.. abstract signatures just don't interest me, but I highly respect those who take the time to produce such quality work with abstracts.. 4.) Is there anyone in here interested in bringing back the Tip.it community Pixel signature collabs? If you guys remember, it was Aldurion's (I think) and we kinda just lost interest and everyone stopped working on it. Collaborations are always great ideas, but people must understand some people are new to pixel art, some people have done it for quite a while, some people have a persific style and some also are very flexible with what they can pixel.. Imo signatures are too small to be worked on by so many people at once so with such differences in capabilities there will be some issues if we are thinking of doing some sort of gid'ed signature.. I'd be much happier doing something similar to our large pixel grid as everyone can join in, and unlike a signature it can develop into a piece of art in itself, in comparisant to a picture that comes up at the bottom of your posts, it can represent the work of Tip.it. 5) This is for everyone, and I hope I get some answers... How do you feel about the general atmosphere of the Gallery and the Art Bazaar? Hostile? Welcoming? Boring? So and so? please post anything you feel describes your perception of it. I haven't personally been interested in the Art Bazarr because I've not had to use it so far :anxious: .. But would expect the atmosphere to be good, I haven't know Tip.it to be a hostile forum.. Usually it's been welcoming and a pretty friendly place. The Gallery is great imo, I hope im doing enough to bring some help to those who need it, which is probably the basic point of the section, I know people have been giving useful advice, along with posting some pretty decent work, there are potentially some great artists here. 6.) Again this is for everyone. How do you feel about the quality of work being posted at the forum? Oh as I said the quality is as you would expect from a runescape forum, but there are some people who are willing to learn and develop, the important thing is that people are interested in art, and not simply just making easy money, so for that im glad selling signatures is now banned as the people who really want to get better are posting here for genuine advice. I wouldn't expect people here to be excellent because the generally age group is below 15, compared to dedicated art forums were people are usually much older. ok? :D
  17. haha forgot I posted this for a sec, boss.. thanks for the comments, no intention of carrying on this, it was just supposed to be a laugh.. I am going to be working on some non-pixel art comics soon (well storyboards but im going to finalise em)..
  18. still waiting for this to be completed, :anxious: .. If the outcome of this attracts more people I'll consider thinking of a new idea along the lines of this..
  19. Did this in the last hour, wasn't anything proffesional mate jst wanted me to to a really short Superted vs Russel Brand scene usin paint.. Gonna be loads of mistakes but wteva. haha. Feel free to colour if ya wish.. any comments appriciated, but as I said this was very much rushed so don't be too harsh on critique lol.. superted.. http://www.internationalhero.co.uk/s/superted2.jpg Russell Brand (I personal hate the guy).. http://img.metro.co.uk/i/pix/2006/ed06/ ... 75x125.jpg
  20. oh no, I meant as you work in high resolution, having to resize it to 300x150 looses a lot of the detail, of course it's easy to resize it but imo your stuff jst looks amazing on a larger scale.
  21. sry but shading a 'tree' in red yellow and orange is just stupid, you've definately not read what I've been saying.. You get your brown base colour, and when you lighten the shade more !!!!slightly!!!! towards the yellows and !!!!slightly!!!! towards the blue to darken, you've started off with an orange.. If you lighten that you get yellow, if you darken that you get red.. sorry but doing it as severe as that is just stupid... =; look at the palette below, from the brown I move less saturated and I move right heading towards to yellow, and to darken I move away from the base colour heading left which if carried on going would take me to the blue sorry if this is counted as offtopic, but needed to be said..
  22. Yes I do think your perspective is off in relation to your character, but for a first signature this is pretty damn good eckred, not a senerio choice I'd expect here on a rs forum.. looks very emotional and deep :D I won't edit this for you unless there's something I really think you needed to alter (I only do it for people to learn from), you're doin fine as you are I think atm..
  23. Looks great imo, concept is very original and after lookin at it for a bit I started like it more n more :) Its really a good idea, though the angle of the headphones really isn't doing it much justice since the left headphone-piece blends into the bg slightly so it wasn't obvious what it was at first.. The colour could be worked on, as it 'looks' photoshopped instead of it looking like it should belong on the image.. Where the colour hits the shadow again above the actual headphones I would have expected the colour to go over the shadow with opacity of the shadow still showing through slightly.. But thats just personal opinion, looks great otherwise.. I should post some of my graphic design work here :)
  24. very nice Nad, must be stressin havin to resize it to fit the limits cus your landscapes usually have such detail.. well I lv landscapes, im doin a traditional art project on a topic of our choice so it's nice seeing landscape art here : .
  25. I think you've really contridicted what Nad originally said D3M0NX, he's sick of rushed work spamming this forum, and your addition to his point is, in itself a spam.. .. thats kinda funy. well that little orange thing kinda looks alright tho imo, could be adding into an RPG as like a flower or sumit.. just made an edit if ya dnt mind..
