  1. Better than the Australians, at least.
  2. Aside from making my time spent feel wasted to an extent, no. You could argue that more high levels = more competition at higher-end content like Bossing. That would then have an effect on the rest of the playerbase. What I'm trying to get at with all this is the same as Myr. Mod MMG's post comes across as "Jagex don't believe in selling gold, xp or accounts because it's bad for the game." when they are selling XP through SoF at predictable rates. I never understood why it being directly selling xp or not was brought up. It's still selling xp. Being a metagamer who looks into the SoF rates shouldn't make a difference either. All I did was log my SoF loot the same way as monster drops and I have gotten a fairly accurate average. Jagex are selling xp, whether Mod MMG believes so or not. He specifically stated that they are not directly selling xp, which in truth, they are not, and that is the point of contention. However, this doesn't mean that they are not somehow selling gold. He skirted the complaints of lying by adding that one word.
  3. Was your target weak to certain elements?

Hope you're not crazy enough to do that while within a Cat 5 hurricane  .
  5. I found Prince Ali Rescue to be a fairly bland quest, so I don't mind seeing a rework of it.
  6. Might as well post this here. Finally allowed into the Beta as an F2Per, here is some information I was able to acquire and some personal thughts, without much editing for grammar and spelling, so it will look bad. I admit, my sample size was low and I only fight one creature, so take my numbers with a grain of salt: [spoiler=A lot of notes]Available Abilities: • Attack: o Slaughter o Slice o Overpower o Backhand o Smash o Sever • Strength: o Kick o Punish o Fury o Cleave • Ranged: o Snapshot o Piercing Shot o Dead Shot o Binding Shot o Fragmentation Shot o Ricochet • Magic: o Asphyxiate o Torture o Omnipower o Impact o Combust o Chain o All strike, bolt, blast, wave and surge spells o Old body rune debuff spells o Bind, Snare (Finally!) and Teleport Block o All teleports (I’m not joking, tried teleing to Camelot, told me I am supposed to be on a member’s server, but I still got the task completion for teleporting there) o Other spells are the standard ones from F2P, with the addition of Level 5 (Dragonstone) Enchant. • Defence/HP: o Anticipation o Bash o Freedom o Rejuvenate o Momentum o NOTE: no tank spells, such as the taunt. Available Equipment: • Magic: o Wands and books up to bat. o Armours up to Batwing o F2P elemental staves • Ranged: o Bows up to maple o No offhands other than shields o Armour up to blue dhide o Arrows up to adamant, bolts up to bronze o No c’bows except the two that are already F2P. o No thrown • Melee: o Armour up to rune o Offhands available o Weapons up to rune • Other: o Team capes o Only one of the action bars. I don’t get this one at all. o Mind runes, body runes, and chaos runes are now the main runes for the enfeeble-style spells What I found: Melee: • Killing lessers with shield and scim takes around two swordfish and it takes a bit over 1:10 up to 1:55 to kill at combat level 174, giving 697.5 or so xp. Average time seems to be around 1:30. A LOT of missing. Weakness is bolts, seem to use magic. Good news, for a loss in exp, o Priority used:  Overpower>Slaughter>Sever>Slice>Fury>stun+punish>Anticipation • Shield and auto attacks kills demons in 2:30 – 3:50 min . A LOT more missing than with abilities. Abilities have to be used once a minute to get momentum going. • 2h is pretty damn fast, though take longer overall. 30-60 seconds in fact. No downtime where I’m waiting for cd’s done. o Priority used:  Overpower>Slaughter> Slice>Sever>Cleave> Smash>Fury>kick+punish • 2h afk is weaker. 1:50-4:00 per lesser. Auto-Attacks do not give adrenaline sometimes for some reason • Dual Wielding (yes, it is available to F2Pers for now) kills a lesser in about 1:00-1:30. Rotation that can be used is the same as sword and shield. Without member’s abilities, 2h is better. • AFK dual wielding kills in around 2:00-2:30, I find it to be slightly faster than 2H, but I may be wrong as my sample size is small. • With just 70 ranged, lessers drop quick with just iron arrows + maple shortbow, killing them in a bit over 30 seconds. Comparable to 2h, if not slightly faster o Priority: Deadshot>Snap-Shot>Fragmentation Shot>Binding Shot>Piercing Shot>Ricochet • Afk ranged is good, killing a lesser in 1:20. • At 70 magic and earth wave, Dual wielding magic kills really fast, with a record of 24 seconds in one fight, however the average was 40 seconds. o Priority: Omnipower>Asphyxiate>Impact>Torture>Combust>Chain • Batwing Shield offers great bonuses, while only sacrificing 50 hit bonus. Comparable with book in damage, but offers more defence. • Dual wielding afk magic kills in around a minute, but it costs a lot of cash, I think I went through 300 of each rune on one lesser >.> . • With a staff of earth, the average is 50 seconds. A lot faster than I expected, but slower than dual wielding. • AFK, a staff kills in around 1:20, twice that of dual wielding, but at a much better cost. My cb level: 174 (83 ATT, 92 STR, 80 DEF, 87 LP, 70 RNG, 71 MAGE) Fighting boots have no stats. Haven’t checked the colourful ones Amulet of Strength unavailable at general vendor. Does it still exist? In full rune armour, I have 6281 health, 3616 armour, or 5156 health, 2016 armour. In blue dhide + green dhide coif (blue is still mems), I have around 4600 health with shortbow, 5000+ with longbow (forgot to check) Batwing dual wielding is 5368 health, 2208 armour Batwing shield is 6495 health, 3808 armour (more than full rune, probably because of the boots). Batwing + staff is 5368 health, 2208 armour (same as dual wielding) Staves only give 10 hit bonus, compared to 90 for batwing wand, compared to 450 for wands swordfish heals 900 with 87 hp, 800 for lobster, 600 for tuna. Shield only gives me only two new abilities: bash and rejuvenate Lesser demons are level 100 Adamant arrows cannot be used in F2P, even if they are an F2P item. Maple bows do not accept them. If one equips armour that offers less max health, your health is not reduced to match the new max health. Later on, I went 2h in the forinthry dungeon. Greaters are level 118, hellhounds are level 132. Hellhounds are the easiest to kill for me for some reason, and are still aggressive. Also have the lowest health. Revenants still use old values for healing. Smoked ‘em. While there, I was attacked by a 177 ranger in blue dhide. Fight lasted a couple of minutes, but I only had to eat twice, while he had to jam as much food down his throat as possible. He wasn’t even a match, and I didn’t even use any defense abilities, just the offensive rotation. Personal Thoughts: The abilities are too spammy. At one point when magic dual wielding, I just smacked my hand on the keyboard with the abilities I will be using on the bar, and I did fine. Food could become obsolete for shield users, however for others, the amount of food used will be increased. Melee AFK numbers look low. 2H is godly.
  7. Players get free xp, and yet they still complain because someone else got more out of the xp than them. How wonderful.
  8. The hilts are enchanted. When attached to the magic-absorbing blade, the metal changes to have different properties, including looks. Retcon achieved. Love the new looks. I actually got a lot of amusement from that ogre poking his own belly button, then eating it.
  9. Who was talking about Runescape's microtransaction model and its future. Not Funorb's. And yet he wasn't talking solely about Runescape's micro transaction future. Last I've seen, graphic and game engine upgrades aren't even remotely related to micro transactions, and account security isn't related to Runescape only. Although I admit that I went a bit far with the Funorb think, I'd like to see an acknowledgement of what they've learned from Funorb, seeing that it seemed to have been abandoned for a while now, and knowing Jagex, all of this "Future Tech" will go the way of Funorb and 8Realms.
  10. Good game, OP. Well played, 9gag,
  11. Why would the head of RuneScape talk about Funorb? Because the head of Runescape (technically Head Content Designer Mark Ogilvie, Mod Mark, by the looks of it) is not the one who released this statement. It was the head of Jagex, Chief Executive Officer Mark Gerhard.

I don't think that he'd be into that D= You know, I wasn't at first either, but Jimmy convinced me. He's a very good convincer.
  13. I'm not surprised Jagex is trying to skirt around microtransactions. The reason why they won't sell gold is because of "the long-term health of the game" isn't just driven by their values, but also by their failed ventures. Without Runescape, Jagex would be nothing in the gaming industry, barely a speck in the ocean of Internet companies. They will lose their current fan base (as they have lost their respect already) and lose the company entirely. That's the only thing that is preventing IVP from pushing for gold selling in-game; they need to protect their asset. The bot nuke sounds promising, although we won't know just how powerful it is until a year after it's deployed. JGA is something that is sorely needed right now, it is just too easy to hack into an RS account these days with everyone spewing personal information over the internet. As long as they create an Authenticator app (little job for the Future Tech Team!), I'll be happy. Speaking of Future Tech, I find it funny how they're not even mentioning their failed venture into mobile gaming with Funorb. Still, I can see this succeed if they're willing to invest the resources into mobile devices, which is unlike the "playground" that was Funorb. I am less hopeful in their research into console gaming. The greatest advantage RS has, its low system requirements, is nullified when you port it over to a system where every single gaming rig is the same. Up the power, and it just isn't Jagex anymore.
  14. More like Obnoxious October, Numbing November and Destroying December. These themed months/seasons are getting old.
  15. I just can't wait. They can just create another SOF wheel that only uses in-game cash to buy tokens, then you have a chance of winning other cash prizes. That is a simple alternative, as much as I hate even the notion of gambling within RS.
  16. They haven't even announced the release date for Dawnguard on the PS3. Knowing Bethesda, we'll have to wait until the GOTY edition is released. I like the sound of Hearthfire, although it will feel kind of strange in Skyrim. Kind of like seeing Aela cook.

I've had the same problem for the past two years, and it all stemmed from my usage of my iPod. Finally got it fixed two weeks ago by staying awake for two days straight. Now I have a normal sleep cycle and I get the urge to use my iPod less.
  18. They gain the ability to use spells without a cost if they are willing to invest in a runecrafter/ the runecrafting skill. Besides that, Runescape has never been the type of game that allowed the creation of accounts with a narrow focus of skills as that would weaken the character as a whole. There aren't too many main accounts left that don't have all skills at around the same general level, and even the ones that don't have the ability to Runespan the missing levels, it's not that slow even after the latest "nerf".
  19. I can see the bank space update be useful in F2P. Although my bank isn't as crammed as it used to be after they increase the number of slots we get, the 50 free bank spaces still increases my bank space by more than 50%. Still not going to buy it. To be quite honest, I'm kind of pissed off at how many loopholes Jagex is finding with their promises. Yes, they haven't broken their promise that Solomon's Store will sell in-game advantages, however this is pushing it. As for the Hunter update, I find it to be a nice bonus. 200+ red chins caught per day without bots messing with you (assuming 700 points/D&D) is alright.
  20. Not the same. Jagex has said time and time again that they do not recognize combat pures or skiller pures as legitimate ways to play the game, and have warned them time and time again that updates are not made with pures in mind. I remember a Jagex mod commenting on a rant back when certain equipment was given defense requirements so pures couldn't use them (I can't remember what), that pures should not be surprised if Jagex updates the game to break their playstyle because they consider it as gaming the system. Fair enough. They don't support pures, and they stated it. But they never said they still support the current magic style. As mentioned earlier, we are already heading towards a direction where magic spells are worth nearly nothing, we are not far off. Now I have a little question: who does an "RC imbuing update" screw over? Who are they pointing the middle finger to?
  21. There are so many loopholes possible I'm not worried about this one. I'd post something like this only if the virus/keylogger/whatever can hijack trusted applets, then I'll be worrying.
  22. It would have to be one hell of a quest to smoothly remove the runes from the culture of man in this Age as well as their dependency on them - and then whatever miraculous change that is would have to be a world-wide event that would suddenly allow the human race to work magic without runes. I personally don't think it can be done, or will be done, within our "play-lifetimes." There's no real point. Such a revolutionary change would be the start of a new Age, and we're already lining up one to start with the climax of re-emerged Elder Gods etc. We can already infuse staves with the power of runes, and we can already infuse items with runes, why not infuse staves with spells? I know we're off-topic here, but I can see it feasible and not game-breaking at all to restructure RCing into an enchanting skill, then incorporate staff-imbuing into it. Extra spells not covered by the staff could be covered by tablets instead. Doesn't matter. Jagex would never remove or radically alter a skill to remove its primary focus because they would be opening the door and giving the middle finger to the massive swaths of the community as they walk out. They're already giving a massive middle finger to the pure community with the very update we're supposed to be talking about here, while the update I'm suggesting could make runecrafting much more useful than it already is while allowing mages to use less resources when casting spells. Win-win for both sides, with the only people being alienated being the ones who haven't bothered training rcing, but who hasn't with the Runespan?

Dear God, you've opened the can of worms again. Faux, you can't win this, no matter how valid your points are. Most people that frequent these forums probably play PC's anyway.
