League of Legends
Downloaded LoL a couple of days ago. Tried a couple of champions (the three tutorial champions, Sivir, Shen, and Kayle), and found that I am absolute crap with meleers, but decent with the ranged carries. What are the advantages and disadvantages of Sivir and Ashe? I'm looking at playing one of those two. I find that I kill enemy champions more easily with Ashe, but that I can decimate through enemies in lategame better with Sivir. Which one is better (or at least when each one is better)? Are there any other alternatives? Looking through videos, I wouldn't mind trying Anivia if I had the IP to buy her, or if she was free for the week.

Runescape. My Views
[hide] No, it's not pking, but it will add more skill to pking. It's not even close to just "spamming one button", it's more like "spamming the right buttons at the right time". One of the design goals at Jagex is to add some skill in pking with this update. have they said how they are going to do that? because it seems like the changes would just make pking less dynamic and interesting. The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
That's another can of beans Jagex wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole. It makes sense, true, but it will look like Jagex is trying to copy the other MMO's again, and hurting our money pouches in the process. On a different note, do we know how good the DG shields are in beta? They are, in essence, "chaotic armour", so a chaotic weapon-shield setup and dual wield would be 400k tokens, while a 2H Maul setup would still be only 200k. I don't understand how it would "even out in the end", as I find Monty's explanation a bit confusing. I'm getting the impression that he means that a mauler would have to buy a rapier anyway, but likewise would a guy using a rapier might need to buy a maul, as it has its own uses?

The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
Is it unfortunate that the most loyal beta testers get no reward other than personal gratification? Yes. Is it unfortunate that the costume is tied to an event rather than the beta itself? No. Problem is, Jagex needs to offer something as a reward for testing a piece of content that they want looked at when interest is waning. Flag runner too powerful during Castle Wars? Nerf his defensive cooldowns and his defense, then hold an event to gather data on how the nerfs are faring, giving the testers a reward as if it's some apple after going to the dentist, getting them back in the beta. While, if possible, Jagex should reward hardcore beta testers somehow (and I don't see why not), it is more important to reward people for these weekend events, as they are the least likely to stick around in the beta without receiving a golden star for their work. Besides, who said there won't be a reward somewhere down the line for people that have logged in often during the beta and provided suggestions? Beta hasn't been out for very long.

3 July 2012 - Carnillean Rising
With all the quest removal and such I'm not sure if the 200th quest will share the same kind of fanfare that the previous milestone quests received :P Just feels odd. They only removed one quest and it really wasn't even remotely close to anything with the lore... Romeo and Juliet was just jagex trying to invest some time and effort into a sizable quest with their infamous puns and jokes. Romeo and Juliet wasn't removed, it was replaced by Gunnar's Ground. The quests that were removed were Sheep Shearer and Witch's Potion. To me it just feels weird that technically the 100th quest is no longer RFD, or that the 150th isn't The Chosen Commander. It was removed. And those two are just the same... Romeo and Juliet was removed, but Witch's Potion and Sheep Shearer have just been downgraded. They are no longer considered quests, but can still be done and are now called miniquests.

Now what would make you deserve the costume if you didn't jump through those hoops? They already have problems with people not testing out the beta, this would actually bring some people on the servers for once. What kind of fail logic is this. Okay, let's play. Bob plays everyday on the beta testing stuff and giving feedback. Next weekend, Bob has a camping trip and can't attend the events. Bob has a life and therefore doesn't deserve the reward. Nice logic you got there pal. When you said "jumping through hoops", I thought you meant "I should get the costume even when all I did was log into the servers" like all these "me-first" people that seem to play videogames these days. Besides, early access to Beta is its own reward. Now Jagex have received criticism from the early-goers that were deserving to get in or really wanted to get in (and got lucky to do so), now they need to give another reward on the weekend to convince more runescape players to join the beta servers to acquire more data on how the game is working (more exactly, how the servers are handling many people in the same spot using abilities). What are you expecting them to give these people? A pat on the back? They'll just [bleep] and moan even more than they are right now. On a different note, I don't see where the problem with that logic is. If you didn't participate in those events, you didn't jump through the hoop with the reward. It's like playing Monopoly and skipping GO without collecting $200.

Did Jagex lose their marbles  . I really want to see what "aiming just at the free game" means for Jagex.

The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
And yet something that I can't comprehend (and I see you can't either), is that people enjoy the madness that is low-wilderness F2P pking. They enjoy the Wilderness environment that they have been used to for years, such as the pitiful KO potential and the randomness that is the Wilderness. The Duel Arena hasn't really caught on in F2P, why should it all of a sudden become fun for people now? Also, I am not comparing the Duel Arena to the CWA, I am comparing a similarity that they have: they are both crap replacements of some form of pking. The clan world was crippled by the free-trade and wilderness removal, the same way the F2P pking world will be crippled by the single-way wilderness removal. The CWA did not help keep clanners, the same way the Duel Arena won't either.

The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
Indeed it is. This is a decision harsher even than the f2p highscore removal, this actually removes content from f2p in order to allure them into buying p2p. Huh? F2P never had The Crucible to begin with and the only dynamic area that saw any action in f2p aside from boxing in low-level wildy was multi wilderness up by Greater Demons / Spider Hill. And the Duel Arena since the removal of free trade (or thereabouts) has been F2P for ages - unless they're changing that with the beta? I didn't see anything about that, so if they are, forgive me. I know that, as a clanner, you're expecting that most of the pking happens in the deep wilderness, but most F2Pers never venture past lvl 5 wilderness, other than the occasional group of friends, rune miners, and clans. That "boxing" is by far the most popular method of pking in F2P, as most can't afford the risk to PK near greaters and risk getting piled by multiple people. And yes, F2P is keeping Duel Arena, but the Duel Arena will be to F2P pking what the CWA was to clans: a replacement that is just never the same.

Tip.It Times - 1st July 2012
Shouldn't Freedom negate the overpowered stun abilities? 15 second stun-breaker for 15 second stuns. Unless there are stuns that are not on a shared cooldown, Freedom should make any stun abilities just minor nuissances.

The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
I agree, nothing feels worse than killing that one creature and then some dude decides to spoil the fun by getting the killing blow. However, if Jagex can implement a tapping mechanic, where the first person or group to hit the target gets the "killing blow" xp and the loot, this shouldn't be a problem. Then again, Jagex never said anything about a tapping mechanic.

Noobs say the funniest things!
Funny, something similar happened to me while fishing here in lumby (only us three btw): Person1: Lol, look at dis bot. Me: I don't see anyone botting. Person2: Yeah, me neither. Person1: No, i mean the guy dropping the fish. Person2: that would be me. Person1: Lol, that's stupid. Only bots do that. Oh, noobs that don't know what powerfishing is. #-o

360 vs ps3
This is getting ridiculous now. Can we give the "PC is superior" comment a rest? We've been saying the same damn thing for the past page, where the PC users are too blind to realize why console users are adamant about their consoles. Besides, this is a 360 vs PS3 thread, not a console vs. PC thread. /rant over.

360 vs ps3
Background downloading is available for PSN downloads only (e.g. demos, full games), updates for games and for the ps3 itself cannot be background downloaded. I don't mind this personally as ps3 updates never take more than a 5 minutes with my internet connection (I admit, though, that I have a friend who waits 45 minutes for his PS3 updates), however something that makes the updating more bearable is switching to cable, you can be surprised how fast time can fly by  .

Power Creep
Agreed here, and noted in the last paragraph already. Jagex has already tried fixing this by using lp-boosting gear, and it seems that they want everything to boost lp, looking at the beta.

Power Creep
From what I've seen, RS does have a "tier" system that just naturally formed, with the ability to skip many of the tiers. From what I've seen, armour can be split into the following tiers: "F2P" (rune) P2P welfare (dragon, granite, black d'hide etc), Barrows and alternatives (comparable to where T13 LFR is at currently in WoW) Arguably Arma and Bandos (comparable to T13 normal) Nex armour (comparable to T13H) As for bosses, I see it currently, with some outliers, as the following: Pre-GWD (KBD, CE, KQ, Mole in terms of loot) GWD w/o Nex Post GWD high-end monsters (Corp, Nex). Note though that this is a very rough classification, with a few outliers (e.g. I have no clue where to classify the QBD), which is why the different tiers are melded together. Also, I am not the best person to classify content, as I've never been a member (although I've followed what's been happening in members since I've first stumbled onto Tip.it five years ago). I've only made these classifications to show how "tiers" are already existant. As for a personal conclusion: power creep currently is not affecting the game that badly (except for the fact that our health can't handle the damage as it remained a constant over the years). If you look at the increases in combat the last five years, the increase in damage is nearly linear, unlike other games where damage (and health) increases exponentially. I'm morw worried on what Jagex will do once they reach level 99 equipment.

NBA - 2011-2012 Season Discussion
Not sure if there is room for Nash on the Heat, as they typically run with James as the point-forward. Although I'm drooling a bit when I hear about a starting line up of Nash + the Heat =P~ .

The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
Are the stun moves on a shared cooldown? Right now, I can see someone use Barge>Pulverize (if dual wielding) or Bash (if shielding) and/or Binding Shot (if wielding a ranged weapon) > Asphyxiate (which I believe requires no weapon)>Impact>Backhand>Kick to have someone stunlocked for an unknown amount of time due to their short cooldown (with the only defense against them being Freedom on a 15 second cd). If this stays the same, I can see a ranger with a shield using Impact and Asphyxiate being very dangerous. And I thought rogues in WoW were annoying to fight.
