As for the game itself, I've been looking for information about it for a while now, after hearing about it on the TGS Podcast. Probably the most novel concept out there for an FPS, however this would also be its downfall. For one, the fact that you can get corporations to back you up means that the people that just want to pick up the game will have a disadvantage versus a player that has a giant consortium from EVE behind them.

Unless they changed the amount of players in one match and the length of time a match lasts for, Combat Arms is nowhere near an MMO. Games like Planetside 1 and 2 are considered to be MMOFPS. Has there been a modern MMO that has not started using microtransactions? I can only think of Rift.

Can't say I'm surprised, however I'm not expecting the final conclusion to happen any time soon. I wouldn't be surprised if the final quest will be released in 2020, if even then. I wonder what will happen with the Edicts of Guthix....

I haven't played LOTRO much, only the starting area, so I can't comment on how it got saved by microtransactions. Do you mean it received an influx of players, increasing game population, then a few of them decided to pay for microtransactions? I'm not sure if that will work on RS, as we already have a poorly masked microtransactions model based on chance. Besides, an increase of experience, while worthwhile for some players, will make many more people feel cheated. We tend to base our opinions on other players on how much experience they have, and suddenly offering experience straight up to the people willing to pay for it will change the culture of the game even more than the EOC, making more members leave as "the game just isn't for them".

I was blown away by Nolan's and Hathaway's Catwoman. First of all, she was not hypersexualized, despite wearing tight latex and heels for almost the entire movie. On top of that, the acting was really great. A friend of mine pointed out an important moment in her opening scene: She steals the jewels, is outed as Catwoman (or just a thief at this point), and suddenly, her body language changes. Re-watch the scene if you can, it was really amazing how she slid from being an uptight servant into this lithe, cunning antihero. [spoiler=Spoilers]Or that moment when the cops come into the bar, guns out, she escapes by acting like an innocent bystander yelling her head off, then instantly collects herself and slips away when they're gone. As for the items, although I've heard Jagex boast before about how awesome an update is, but then it turns out to be horrible, I can see these being very strong items. The only items that sell well in a microtransactions shop are very cool looking cosmetics, or very strong items that offer an advantage, wether it's an xp boost, or a damage boost. For the items themselves, I'd hesitate to say that Jagex would divide the items as follows: 1 melee item, 1 ranged item, 1 mage item, and 1 skilling item, similar to how dungeoneering classes are divided. This gives every side of the triangle something powerful to not skew the triangle, while also giving an alternative for non-pkers. Even for microtransactions, Jagex is too lazy to make 10 quests :wink: .

Read about it yesterday morning. Went to see the Dark Knight later on, and nothing interesting happened but the movie. Really hate how the media is clawing at this story. For all we know at the moment, this could be a Herostratic murder. The shooter might have killed those people just to make a name for himself, to see himself seen for once. I also found it funny on CTV news how they mentioned that video games were the cause of this to happen. Kind of getting tired of video games becoming the thing every single worried parent starts blaming when something bad happens.

I don't think population really has anything to do with this. Instead, the universal usage of the U.S. dollar (seeing that it is the most commonly traded currency in the world) is the main reason why they use it.
