  1. Nice pun. I'm currently Rank 3000ish with approximately 140k exp, and with relatively horrid skills (104 combat, most skills around the 50s-60s range). You don't really need super stats to level; you merely need to be well-armed (which your level 99 smithing and mining friends can help you with) and general knowledge of monsters to exploit their weaknesses. Which generally involve crush. Seriously, after about 50 different types of monsters found, I think about five of them aren't weak to crush.
  2. I ran into a level 575 Behemoth with a five man team (with one down). Everyone except me was 120+.They all had Tier 10 weapons except me, who had a Tier 9 2h. We had a large amount of Cave Morray spots, and didn't burn too many. Needless to say, We had our [wagon] handed to us. That thing was a behemoth in full title. It could constantly hit 500s+, used all three styles, and was accurate at that. Whenever it targeted me, I was dead within the next five rounds of combat. The others, who actually had some nice armour, survived longer, but it still killed them. Twice we got it down to about 1/3rd hitpoints before we lost three and it woud eat back to full. We eventually just gave up. EDIT: Also, to make sure. I just went through and completed every dungeon I could. Should I reset now?
  3. I think the name itself is a pretty good clue: skill is a synonym of ability. A skill should be something you train to gain abilities or resources that are part of the game. This doesn't qualify. So if reasonable rewards were offered, that gave considerable bonuses (which could encompass either resourses or abilities), would you consider Dungeoneering a skill?
  4. At level 50 Summoning, I had achieved abilities in a SKILL that helped me doing nearly everything in RS. What have I achieved at level 50 of this mess? Some guy says I have tokens. Hardly comparable. The emperor has no clothes. This is not a skill, it's a minigame, and a poorly designed and tested one at that. I have asked this question to many a complainer on the official forums; what do you actually consider a "skill"? That equipment will have little impact on the game. Based on that criterion, Barrows is more of a skill than this POS. At least after spending 20 hours at the Barrows, I have something to show for it. But this ultimately reflects on how Jagex initially balanced their items, which is more difficult than most people realize, rather than the core components of the skill itself. Summoning was quite impractical, and nearly useless, before Jagex released the second part of the update. I'm honestly not sure how Jagex screwed up this much on the balancing (perhaps they had the token gains of level 70s in mind?), but my point remains. So how do people play this game?
  5. What nonsense. What utter nonsense. Does summoning not serve only to aid other skills? Do people not choose to train their combat with slayer? And is FIREMAKING really a skill, and this isn't? Oh yes, and the "best" thing to say about this skill isn't that you get exp in other skills, it's that unlike all other skills, this one is actually fun. Maybe not to you, but certainly to anyone who likes doing other things besides the same menial tasks over and over again. Oh and I wouldn't call the equipment you get from this skill "useless" either. Far too expensive now, perhaps, but Jagex said they are currently re-balancing the costs. Yet both Summoning and Slayer provide materialistic advantages for the skills they support, whilst this skill provides nothing but expirience, which could be sustained far faster by simply training the skill in a normal manner. You also have no evidence that Qeltar supports the skill firemaking, which in my opinion is a terrible example of a skill. Furthermore, in a game about maximizing effectiveness, "fun" can be quite a subjunctive term. Some people simply enjoy gaining levels, others like PvP, and still others will love this skill. In this game, it is impossible to define something as truly "fun"; you need rewards for the more "efficent minded" people as well. A solution to to former problem, however, would be to merely make the rewards easier to obtain, and possibly more of them.
  6. The first part is correct. You don't have to run through all the levels in one single trip though, so I can have a prestige of 10, do 1-5, get out of the dungeon when on 6, log off, chill, come back and choose to start from level 6 before going down the dungeon again. If you do it on Complexity 1 you get a 50% penalty. Only complexity level 6 has no penalty. I meant on the "lower" floors like 1-5, not the end floors. Would doing it on Complexity 1 affect my prestige in anyway?
  7. So to maximize my Prestige, I should run through all of the levels again, then reset when I finish all of the levels? And could I do that on Complexity 1 to minimize the time repeating?
  8. You might be onto something! Jagex twitter said something about variety is the essence of life. Stone of Jas (thing that made runestones)? Mahjarrat? Star Alignment? Ritual in The North? Zarosian Return? And it has been confirmed that the runecrafting altars are in fact growing brighter, in particular the Cosmic Altar. Hmmm... This may be completely garbage, but the Soul Altar remains non existant, yet. Could this be? Well, "Soul" could certainly be syonomous with "essense of life". The "variety" may be the including/upgrading of the spells that use soul runes, and possibly the release of the Soul altar along with it. My question, though, is why is the Cosmic altar in particular acting so stranglely out of all the other altars?

  10. I would love Jagex forever if instead of announcing the content normally, they did the earthquake thing a few hours after the system update, but with a stronger and more concise reaction from the NPCs. Then we would actually have to look for the new, hidden update, and there would be a massive search for the new content.
  11. I think it's actually a great thing that the KBD would be so hard in F2p; it actually might be a "true" boss to slay in f2p. Honestly, it doesn't really matter that the drops are mediocre; it would still provide a much needed boss experience to F2p. The Dragon Med Helm addition is uneeded, although it would be a great "rare" drop should that be a requirement to attract people (I think the boss itself would be enough). The Black D'Hide and Dragon Bones could just be subsituted for 5-10 big bones, and the spiders could either be neutered (which have already been done with Reverants) or just removed.
  12. I believe that was the entire point of the thread.
  13. I believe it started out as a merchanting attempt to gain money, but because it became so widespread and popular.... It's essentially became this. It's benefits are the same as junk trading, but coming instead from the buyer's side; if someone wants an extra 2-3 million or whatever, then the buyer can add a mint cake and not go over the trade limit. The cakes are rare enough to prevent someone from mass gathering them, but more common and less expensive than rares to be widely used on the market.
  14. We are not debating how Jagex designed them, or if Jagex has plans to update them.. We are debating whether they should be changed for more valuable drops. Personally, I agree. By all means, they should not be dropping Sigils, nor should the drops be formulated to be a profitable as normal PvP, but at the very least we deserve a consistent drop table for such powerful enemies.
  15. Essentially what he said, but replacing the bunyip with BtP tablets, and the DFS with a Granite shield. I would recommend bringing an Ayrmdal amulet if you need to take a break or something.
  16. I'm level 102 with 76 defense and black-d hide, and I do pretty damn well at WFs with a borrowed Z Spear and a super set. Don't you have a buddy to lend you a Z spear? If you don't, just go to World 2 and borrow a SS from someone. I assure you the profits from WFs will be more than enough to cover the lending fee. I also hate PC; don't worry about it. :P
  17. By that logic, Jagex should only update the middle levels that the majority of players possess. This is also logic that is completely killing the innovation and development of the gaming industry. The PvP update was an exception (which I know you are thinking of), but that was mainly because it threw the economy into wild inflation, which in turned harmed players with no relation to PvP. The main point that the high-level runecrafter supporters were addressing (and yes, crying about as well. Some people are so melodramatic) is that the update effectively ignored any benefits for high level runecrafters; in other words, no increase in runes, and therefore profit, along with the rest of the skill. That is a perfectly valid point that you shouldn't ignore.
  18. Yup. Wondered if it ever crossed any of Jagex's staffs' minds that the same principle could be applied to mining. That's assuming, of course, that you consider the runecrafting update a success. And a casual look at the forums shows that quite a few people would disagree.
  19. The Runecrafting update used a similiar implementation to the suggestion of the orginal poster; same difficulty in leveling up, but an increase in general profit. The effects of that update could be very relevant to this thread, so I suggest that both sides look into the issue. And yes, most Adamantine bars come through Avanies. The price of those bars, which I believed were fairly constant, went on a decline soon after the method had become widely known. The others I'm not sure on.
  20. It's because merchant clans decided that they were a rare item, and started the "It's a rare item z0mg!" thing. Subsequently, now people think the actually are a rare item. It's pretty stupid.
  21. Pfft, I don't even hunt Green Dragons anymore. I hunt Blues now, which incidentially, a really awesome spot with no people in it is just south of Ya- *shot*.
  22. For those who are in desperate need of a Green Dragon spot, you can kill them in 35 wilderness. Use the canoe station to get into 35 wildy, and head a bit east. You can also bank at the BH bank and run north to get there. There are four dragons there, which are always empty. Bank by running down a few levels and glory teleing to Edgeville. Your main problem will be reverants, which due to the higher wildy level will be even more annoying, were that possible. If they attack, just run down to the former Bounty Hunter crater; they won't follow you.
  23. Assuming you have no better moneymaker, that is. Can....Can I hug you for understanding this concept?
