No, I really do think that being rich will make you happy. It might not fulfil you, but God knows I'd be a happier person with more money - I can't think of anyone I know who wouldn't be!
  2. Aren't Redline BD figures really bad though? Doesn't look like it's sold well for the first week. Finally finished Revolutionary Girl Utena. It wasn't as good as everyone made it out to be, it's an alright anime. I think nostalgia is what draws most people to it though. The characters are fairly interesting though. Started Rozen Maiden, it's just okay so far too. I never really totally buy the tsundere 'bullying the slave boy' aspect that quite a few anime have though. At least the concept with the dolls is quite good. Also started Baka Test 2, so far it's been okay as well (God, not much to praise this post, have I?) and frankly was disappointing for the first 2 episodes in that there were no Idiots, Tests OR Summoning Beasts, just Beaches & Festivals and stupid love triangle stuff that I didn't enjoy in the first series and don't enjoy now. I'm really starting to hate Himeji & Minami. Just because you both love the guy (God knows why) doesn't mean that you have the right to terrorise and bully him if he looks at a girl WHEN YOU HAVEN'T TOLD HIM YOU LIKE HIM. Urgh, it's stupid. I think the OP says it all in that there's no references to tests or summoning and is just all about WUV. ¬_¬ OH and another thing while I'm on a roll, Higurashi Kira's first episode was completely disgusting. I knew from the trailer that it was going to be bad but the whole thing turns out just to be an extended eroge sequence involving each of the main girls in turn. I get that Higurashi has a lot of 'fun' sequences but this first ep is entirely dedicated to Keiichi's sexual fantasises. I have a high tolerance for fanservice but I had to say Rika's rubbing of her bum on a window making ecchi noises really got to me, she's what - nine years old? It's god awful so far <_<

My parents make just enough money to live by and thanks to the Government & student finance I'm getting £6,500 from September till May to live on. Around £3500 is going to accommodation at University so I'll be living on £3000 for 9 months, it's not unrealistic since I don't have utility or transport bills to pay. Might be a squeeze though. I never had much money as a kid, pocket money came from my grandparents and more often than not went on paying for school dinners. It's not exactly poverty, but because we've always been on a tight budget I'm extremely money concious and pretty much constantly urge everyone else to be too. Why spend more on brand food when there's Tesco Value & ASDA Smartprice? Why buy clothes anywhere else when there's £6 jeans and £1.50 t-shirts from Primark? :D

I was always considered the most likely to snap and kill everyone. Mainly because I am a wealth of knowledge on, umm, 'unconventional' things. Hey, I was considered that too! Mostly because in 9th grade we had like five bomb threats, and by the third one (everyone was still freaking out due to them) I was just trolling. "Oh I see smoke!" "Who's that man walking around!?" And so some girl told me I'd probably end up bringing a gun to school. I admit I was being a [bleep], but not a murder-y [bleep]. But does this mean that TiF is full of suspected serial killers? I've never been suspected of being a future killer. I've been told I'd make a good bank robber though. I was described as being the one that would come into school one day with a gun and massacre everyone. :D
  5. I wasn't sure how well the guest fictional would go down but I'm extremely pleased to see you guys have enjoyed it. I've no idea who the submitter is but there may be a continuation of the story very soon :)

  7. The solution - if you truly believe that it's the right choice, move in with him. Be sure that your brother is being looked after, by a relative or a friend. It shouldn't be too hard to get used to, but I agree it's difficult when you're in a dilemma/lose-lose situation. The thing is I *would* have been renting a room from him but the decision about where I'd be living in September came when we just started going out and I was very unsure. However in a month's time I am moving out into University accommodation which is like, 5 minutes away from him, so it's good. It's a shame I won't actually be living with him, but I am very excited to move out anyway :) Depending on how things go I may not come back home next summer, if I can successfully live without my parents without dying of starvation :P That is another thing that annoys me, the wait until I can move out. It's such a *long* wait!
  8. What really annoys me at the moment is the awkward transition between my own home and my boyfriend's. I spent 3-4 days a week at his house, usually at the weekend, then come back home. Whenever I'm at his I feel a little like I should be at home, especially if it means I'm leaving my brother on his own for a bit, but when I return back home the same day I'm wanting to go back. It's awkward to go between having lovely meals with my bf, spending the day watching anime or star trek and having fun, and a house where the hot water wasn't even working, people shout for me to do things and talk in loud voices, the house is a mess and there's not very much food for me to eat (and when my dad cooked pasta tonight it wasn't very good =/).

At least things have calmed down a little now all across the country. I think that just having more police on, and the rioters knowing this, is a fairly big deterrent for the majority who are less and less under the illusion they wont be caught.

I'm going to be in Salford tonight and I'm very concerned that violence will continue if there isn't more police on the streets up here. The problem is they're all down in London...
  11. Racheya replied to Sam's topic in Off-Topic
Burn Parliament then - what do communities and businesses have to do with strictly GOVERNMENT 'grievances' which is total bollocks, btw. The rioting chavs are the ones in the wrong here. I live on the same council estates as they do but since I'm not a [developmentally delayed]ed, chavvy [bleep] I don't riot.
  12. Summertime /b/ is just awful, full of summer[bleep]s who think the pinnacle of trolling is posting something wrong then shouting 'LULZ I TROLLZ U' when they get called out. During the rest of the year there is genuinely some good stuff if you sift through all the crap. Yeah I forgot it's summertime ¬_¬ Wasn't that terrible war on tumblr done by summer users? Anyway, it'd be cool if it does happen but it's not gonna

My boyfriend's bins got set on fire last night in Salford. I'm going over today and hoping to help with the cleanup in Manchester & Salford if I can. I'm disgusted and alarmed at how much damage has been done to the cities where I intend to build my future.

You did the same poets as me :P I rather liked Carol Ann Duffy but my favourite poem on the sylabus was 'those bastards in their mansions' by Armitage. Liked his work too, Hitcher was a very popular poem for most of my class too. My Last Dutchess has been the most useful poem though, I had it both in my GCSE English exam AND my AS English Literature exam so... I can recite the first line or so off by heart, I've analysed the [bleep] out of it :D

I can imagine that. People are getting angrier and angrier about this, if things go bad tonight and continue into tomorrow with no visible police crackdown then people might take things into their own hands. Also the BBC need to stop talking about what happened last night. I want to know what's happening NOW. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/bbc_radio_manchester Why didn't I think of that? <3

That couldn't be further from the truth. The students rioting had at least a reason, I was among the peaceful protesters but the rioting was done for a REASON. That reason maybe couldn't justify violence, but it wasn't a bad one. Rioters now are ONLY RIOTING FOR MONEY, FUN AND CHAOS. They're not students, they're underclass teenage thugs who have no worth in this society whatsoever. I don't want them rehabilitated, I want them arrested and taught the word of the law. And I'm a liberal.

I actually find this to be true. If the riots hadn't been beamed into the media 24/7 for the last three days until they seem almost glamourised, do you think it'd be spreading? It's putting ideas in people's heads. Who can't think 'I could go for a new x, if they can do it without police stopping them (which is pretty much all the news has been saying. looters going unpunished, not enough police) then there are people out there immoral and desperate enough. I don't BLAME the media but they're not helping! Small pockets of trouble in Salford & Manchester, I really hope it doesn't kick off into a major riot and, if it does, they stay the [bleep] away from my Primark! Primark often looks like theres been a riot in there anyways. ;) Haha, very very true. Seriously though, Manchester city centre is a great place and all I can think is of how much vulnerable glass there is in the Arndale alone. I would be furious if this spreads to Manchester properly.

Hey, it's worth £4. Also gotta love the looters looting Poundland of all places. Poundland. What are they gonna get? £10 worth of sundries, nuts & bolts and rubbish plastic kids toys?
  22. Racheya replied to Sam's topic in Off-Topic
Anyone saying these riots are going on as a protest or as a way of fighting against the government are talking RUBBISH. These riots are nothing more than thug youths out rioting for fun and profit. Smashing windows and stealing TVs. The FIRST riot which came after a peaceful protest over the death of a man shot by police stemmed from having a real purpose but right now there's nothing but mindless vandalism going on. I really hope the police throw the book at everyone arrested, this is no way to behave. I will never forgive them if rioting starts in Manchester. Our police say that it won't but I would NEVER forgive them if they attacked my favourite city (or worse, Salford, where I actually will be living soon and people I care about live).

None of the acommodation at my Uni has 'roommates' everyone has their own individual room then you share a kitchen/living room with 5-10 people depending on what acommodation you've gone for. I'm paying for the better rooms next year which comes to around £3600 for the two semesters. It's a nice 6 person flat though and I get my own en-suite shower :D
  25. Now you HAVE to watch Code Geass if you liked Death Note. I'm not exaggerating how important it is that you do because you WILL DIE if you don't watch it.
