What course are you doing Rach? I'm interested in ICT and am going to apply for some course soon at my local unis. I'm doing Computer Science but apparently the course is more similar to Computing. Computer Science usually has more theory but we do a lot more practical stuff. If you wanna do stuff like programming, networking, understanding computer structure then Computing (or Comp Sci) is what you're after. IT is a good thing to go into really. I'm kind of curious - I've heard from a computer science major that I shouldn't go into college for programming, because I'll hate it if I do. Has that happened to you? I don't hate it, I enjoy most of the programming we do.

Lols, reminds me of this time I went through an amber at an intersection far slower than I thought and had to move over to avoid collision. Stupidity at its finest, I stop for ambers now. Though not today... Today I did some kerb hopping. I'm doing Computer Science but apparently the course is more similar to Computing. Changing an operating system in a large infrastructure (like a university) is a lot more work than you'd think. For example at my work (about 1500 employees from what I remember), it's basically a three year project to go from xp -> 7. I guess, but the department used to have control over it's own computers in the labs but this year the Uni restructured things so it's set back moving to Windows 7 =/ It's just kinda frustrating being on a Computer Science course and stuck using XP.

Today I'm visiting my parents so I can pick up a laptop to do a Windows Phone 7 Development session tomorrow. I'm rather excited about it, Microsoft are coming in to uni and I'm hoping to learn a lot. I'm not quite as excited to be using the laptop though - I have the nagging feeling it's going to be a bit slow running Visual Studio 2010 Professional. I wish Uni computers had Windows 7 already. Apparently the department wanted to change earlier but since the Uni-wide IT services took over our computers this year, everything has been kinda shit and we're going to have to wait like, a year before it's worked out ¬_¬
  5. Knowing - Had a really great start but the ending was kinda lame. I wanted more, I wanted the solution to be more than some deus ex machina. Great concept in theory. Source Code - 99% confusing but I liked the characters and by the end, once the plot had tied together, I was rather impressed. Reminded me a bit of Inception (without being that epic).
  6. I believe that jagex need to support the f2p players, even if they never pay for members, because nobody will play a dead game. Jagex should pay for every f2p they can because people don't play mmos that are dead. If f2p stagnates there won't be anybody to replace the leaving p2p members, numbers will dwindle. Jagex needs to support their f2p players, that doesn't mean adding new content, it means not taking their long-standing content away.
  7. I remember when I was a young player, probably still F2P, I trained hard to get my levels on the highscore board so that I could have a cool dynamic signature :P I used to compete with my friend for levels too. Removing highscores for F2P is unfair and stupid. I can understand the argument for removing it for inactive players - but F2P =/= inactive. I'm not going to be on the high scores anymore soon, despite all the work I've done, just because I'm not subbed anymore.
  8. Due Date: Was terrible. The acting was good but the plot was direly predictable and Ethan was a loathsome, god-awful, disgusting character who I despise and from fairly early in the film wanted to murder with my bare hands. He had NO redeeming qualities - none. He was an ignorant, arrogant, selfish little shit who's father's death didn't make me feel sorry for him at all. I am seriously disappointed with this film ¬_¬
  9. I do kind of worry that they're hopping on the teenage-popular-fiction bandwagon. I've never been much of a fan of the shipping/relationship side and I think the fandom is a bit rubbish and filled with Twihard-like 'Team Peeta' 'Teem Gale' BS but I genuinely enjoyed the books and that's enough for me.
  10. Yeah, I use the mobile version of the forums on my phone. A mobile version of the site, while obviously not the most important issue, would definitely be worth it imo :)
  11. Books were amazing. Film looks okay - excited for it to come out though :)

That makes NO sense. Who'd have to pay, the woman? What sort of crazy idea is that. Often women who need abortions wouldn't be able to afford the procedure in the first place. If you mean making the hospital pay to use embryonic cells, I don't really think it's any business of the taxman if one woman wants to let a doctor use the aborted foetus. Why should they have to pay? Nobody is going to go 'Oooh, I'm going to abort my foetus JUST to help that nice man at the hospital with his research!'
  13. we use bidmas/bodmas but I often forget about it if I'm not specifically doing a complex equation. And, speaking of maths, I hate prefix and postfix expressions!

Went out for a meal with my family for my brothers birthday today. Brought my boyfriend along and had quite a good time. Did have some problems getting on the wrong train on the way there but it all worked out in the end.
  15. I wasn't spoiled as a kid but my brother is a bit. My parents can't really afford it but they don't spoil him too much. and when it comes to kids, you know that if you buy them an expensive product they'll spend more time playing with the box than the toy itself :-P
  16. I actually really enjoy a good rage/face comic :D
  17. No. Having HIS period? O_o His? The person under me is at work/school/uni.
  18. Ah, well that makes more sense. The essay is on a weird topic though, I must admit :P

Fixing up my CV today to hand in for a part time PHP Programming job, my first foray into the world of work :P Going to be handing it out a lot more from now on, searching for placements.
  20. Um... what? First, why are you writing about RD & Homosexuality? It kinda rubs me weird that a serious essay about homosexuality might be seen as stupid because it brings up MLP. It just seems weird. And what do you mean 'I sound like I'm condoning homosexuality'? Are you not supposed to condone it?
  21. Nope. I'm giving this thread a title since titles exist for a reason - you can't just give it a blank name ;) You can give it a different name if you want. The person below me is watching a video.
  22. I think the main thing to be wary about with sales is buying more of the item than you want/need just because it's on sale. Obviously for some things it's fine to stockpile, but food - unless it can be frozen - can easily go to waste. I like to think I have a good knowledge of how much things I usually buy cost so I can tell when a deal is really a deal and not a fake deal. I've seen supermarkets raising prices then reducing back to the previous price and calling it a sale hundreds of times.

I'm currently just staring at my Java assignment and hoping that inspiration will strike. My code works... it's just rubbish! :P
  24. I regret that I've not been able to spend as much time here on the forums since starting uni. I certainly don't regret spending more time getting healthy, being fairly social & spending time with my boyfriend, but I do miss this place, and RuneScape, sometimes.
  25. Omg I found the mini moulded figurines in Tesco today just on the end of an isle for £2! I would have got fluttershy if she was there but I settled on just twilight. Almost got rd too but I didn't like the fig quite as much. I didn't even see them, my bf pointed them out and I went mental :D I shouldn't be that shocked though since I've seen Tesco stocking evil pink celestia and some of the sparkly type ponies.
