  1. Thanks :). Slowed down a bit now, especially on chomps, but hit 183 medals. A lot to go, but this is a nice req anyway. Waiting on Diviniation now...
  2. Virtus wand w/ barrage got nerfed recently. Torva should be good, good bit more defence than Bandos. Generally, don't try to safe too far, and if you need more health, use a shield for a bit.
  3. Since it will be discontinued at some point, it will hold some value. However if it isn't as rare as true 'rares', it won't be very expensive.
  4. You've clearly never had bacon-apple pancakes. See: http://www.nijmegeneet.nl/wp-content/uploads//2010/09/Duivelsberg-008.jpg. Anyway... bacon quest. I hope it's silly enough :D.
  5. No. Iirc it went like this: First they were weak to water, but pickaxes are low-tier melee so they were super tank. Then they were weak to crush, because pickaxes are good for that, but then they were melee-weak meleers which doesn't make sense (according to Jagex). So now they change weakness after the shield breaks.
  6. You probably want someone to draw the bombs, other than that, everyone should melee for the higher dps with basics, Slaughter + Dismember and Berserk.
  7. Your level isn't the issue, it's your armour, in Bandos you don't have enough defence. Switching longswords to cheaper drygores (maces) to free up cash for better armour is a good idea, but if it won't get you a good Torva piece, don't bother.
  8. Uh, useful? If you have Nex gear, you can use that at Vorago no problem.
  9. 1) Trade your Zamorak's stole for a whisper amulet. 2) Trade your skill cape for a tokhaar cape. 3) Trade your barrows gloves & ganodermic boots for Bandos boots & gloves. 4) Trade your berserker ring for a warrior ring. 5) Trade your Verac's helmet for a Bandos helmet. 6) Trade your Saradomin brews for rocktails. 7) Bring adrenaline potions. Don't forget to activate your scrimshaw before fighting, it doesn't do so automatically. You will probably not have enough defence to really tank Graardor - you can bring a shield switch to heal a bit, or you can upgrade Bandos to Torva. Keybinds: Slice, Dismember, Sever, Backhand, Assault, Slaughter, Destroy, Flurry, Guthix' Blessing, Escape, Anticipation, Freedom. Alternate Slice with the other basics, in order, until you can use your tresholds, in order. Only use Flurry when you're next two two targets, ideally three or more. Make sure you make your target move when using Slaughter. Guthix' Blessing is a panic button, no more. After the kill, use the last three abilities to stall adrenaline until the next kill. Ports armour can't be obtained quickly, the only way is to start sending ships ASAP and it'll take a few months.
  10. Only a hundred? Computers over 5 years old will run 200+ people battles in M&B - I imagine high-end machines get 400+ easy :P. The wiki says unofficial servers have supported 222 players on multiplayer as well :D. Anyway, Runescape npcs are much lighter to run than Skyrim I'm pretty sure - looking at places like the gnome battlefield, you can easily get a real battlefield. I just hope barrage will be a real option then, a large battle seems so useless if you can't use multi-target spells :/.
  11. Two Vorago deaths today, one on phase 4 (fire of course), one as last person standing on phase 5. I have to say, he's a lot more fun than descriptions make him sound. Also 3300 chomps, 151 medals.
  12. You can get the parts from firemaking (winter), woodcutting (summer), farming (autumn) and herblore (spring).
  13. They fixed using overloads. After the fix, drinking an overload checked whether you were 500+ lp before the interruption took place.
  14. You don't take a lot of damage on the final stage, as dpser. I was soulsplitting with superior vampirism and not losing health until the tanks died and bombs started falling amongst the melee lines. I would like to note that my idea of the KK requiring a line of pikes protecting a line of rangers is nearly what happens at Vorago.
  15. If you want to go Vorago, there are currently two roles: DPS meleer and tank ranger. Rangers are 'tank' in the sense that they have to tank the bombs and lure the minions as well if possible. Basically, for warrior, torva/tetsu with dual drygores and a shield, for ranger, pernix/lotus, dual assbows and a shield. Since you have ports armours, I'd upgrade weapons first. For everything else, reference Tieszen's post.
  16. Vorago is pretty fun so far (well only tried twice, in teams of 10+, and only as lowly dps but ok). For the final stage: Time your zerks! We had the misfortune of someone zerking on reflects twice (note that this also suggests reflects are exactly 1 minute apart?), which is Bad. After a reflect, everyone should zerk and use basics (Sever, Backhand, Havoc) and DoTs (Slaughter, Dismember) ASAP. Vorago will move backwards which interrupts your Destroy/Assault, making them less useful.
  17. Afaik only one phase will vary per week.
  18. ... No. Camping is sustainable because of soul split. It is profitable because prayer is cheap. Offence matters a lot because that's exactly what you need to kill 'everything'. (some) Bosses will kill you if you don't heal with food, and healing with food drains adrenaline, which reduces your damage output, which reduces your kill rate, which reduces your profit, which is bad. So basically, you fall under what I posted before: Review your setups :P.
  19. The instance you join is an instance of the pre-fight area where you take the 50k damage. In order to then join the fight, you need to accept a share of the 50k damage.
  20. Assuming this gets implemented, with basics replaced by autoattacks and defaulting to 100% adrenaline, Zilyana should have about this AI. Zilyana attacks every 4 ticks and has a shield, t75 stats/equipment/weapon/food/potions (incl. brews), all prayers (not curses) available. When players enter the room, activate Piety and Smite, drink a super set and engage. A key part of the AI is that Zilyana rates players and herself according to strength. Strength is determined by: Currently visible and seen-before equipment. Visible prayers, including leech effects. Combat level, apparent stats, stat drains. Damage dealt. Damage taken. Damage healed, estimated food left (incl. familiar). Damage prevented. Current health. Currently active abilities. Basically anything that a player could know. So Zilyana rates herself 'strong' if she is at good health/prayer/stats/fatigue, has enough food and prayer restore left, she's avoided a good percentage of the damage, dealt a good amount of damage, if applicable currently has an ability effective (she's stronger with Resonance active, for example). Obviously damage healed and food left work against eachother, so apart from the 'current health' increase, eating would reduce strength, while healing with Resonance improves strength as it's renewable. Zilyana rates players as 'strong' if they have those things, and if they are in teams, and if Provoke is active she'd rate the people who are protected by it as much stronger. Every tick, all possible actions are rated according to the largest (expected) increase in her own strength and the largest (expected) decrease in the opponent's strength - the gap needs to be as big as possible*. Possible actions include switching prayers, eating, using an ability (melee, mage, defence), moving and restoring prayer. More than one tick ahead is simulated, for example she could deduce that the player is able to use Backhand next tick (they used it before, the cooldown has ended), so it would be a larger expected improvement to use Anticipation > Assault than just plain Assault. Simulations can only take into account things that players could know, though, mostly visible and apparent things, but also the non-visible things that killed most Zilyanas before (ex. if the best method requires a shield switch, Zilyana will start assuming a shield after hundreds of kills, even if it's not visible). To go back to the Provoke example: Attacking the protected prayers would do less damage, so it would reduce the total opposing strength less, unless it would kill a target. If there are no players in the room, Zilyana uses the altar to restore prayer, heals with food, recieves more food and potions from outside the boss room (say 1 item per tick) and rests otherwise. *I'm not sure whether this should be entirely absolute or partially percent-based. Absolute seems fine though. === Essentially the AI depends on two things: A good way to rate strength, and a good way to simulate actions. If Zilyana can find the optimal way to fight about 20 seconds ahead, players could even learn things from her.
  21. It's good if you can't get GWD sets. If you can get GWD sets, it might still be good for training. It's useless for slayer and most bossing.
  22. Defence is never used for normal monsters. If you think defence is for normal monsters, you need to review your setups. But yeah Alg (TVT) nailed it. It's a real shame virtually every single special power in RS is of that type. Stuns, poison, stat drain, spirit shields, damage reduction abilities, percent damage attacks (these got removed because they sucked on regular monsters and capped on bosses), anti-stun abilities (there aren't enough, and KK green attack even disables them), Disrupt Shield (doesn't work when maging, ironically), reflect damage - all of these are really really awesome, but sadly PvP only because bosses have to stay boring. When bosses use things that we also use, they still cheat - KQ and TD protect prayers are 100% (and KQ was even weirder before that) and they don't have to restore prayer, and Nex doesn't have to restore prayer either, plus that she reflects much more than we do with deflects. I also asked Chaose why they aren't designing bosses using 'real' abilities and he said something like 'we just released a boss, give us a break'. He seemed to think that defensive abilities are useful enough even though they don't work on specials. I feel that defensive abilities ought to be useful, and that bosses are powerful despite them, but ok.
  23. I asked Mod Chaose what success rate they were shooting for - he didn't bother to answer. I asked him why so many specials ignore defensive abilities - he said that it was to 'encourage more ability variation' or something like that. Which is weird because it discourages defensive abilities.
  24. The 50k limit is explained by Vorago actually challenging fighters, which is nice (the KK for example wouldn't care about challenges at all).
  25. If you lure the south spot well there should be no problem, using drygore + cstaff or wand/book. Might still take too much damage on early trips but it's easy later.
