I've currently got extremely bored of slayer and grinding for the last 1.6m defence exp for my 99 which is bad of me I know because I want it before I head to uni on October the 4th, but I really cannot be bothered now to do it. So I was thinking of heading to Aviansies and getting up my range. A while ago I made a topic on here about Aviansies and I was told my stats were high enough to tank them instead of pray them. I was wondering if someone could find that guide again/know a good setup for tanking because I've just spent about half an hour looking for my old topic and that link >.< Anyhoo the setup I'm currently thinking of is: Arma helm, Fury, Zammy Dhide/Sara Dhide, Torags legs, Fully Charged DFS, Rune RFD gloves, Ava's device, Rune Xbow, Snakeskin boots, Ring of life (I'm not risking this much good stuff without it!) and about 3K broad bolts. Invo: 1 Noted Addy Bar 1 gp 100 Nats 500 Fires 1 free slot 100 B2P tabs Home Tele Rest monks Is this setup and invo adequate to stay there for any substantial period of time? And would it be advisable to do my Tanking in the stronghold? Ta Ez

After placing a topic here last night about maybe selling my DFS for BCP and Tassets I'm going to go with what the majority of people who posted said - go for option 4 of keeping DFS and Torags. Now that leaves me with another question and because I don't know how to change titles of topics here's a new one :) So onto my question - Should I buy a ZS or not? I have 4m cash free at the mo, but most of it will probably be going on cannoning, summoning pots and bunyips. Therefore leaving just enough money to buy a ZS but it could well leave me almost broke. So even though I appreciate this is a delicate matter which people will advise me not to spend everything I have on the spear that is fluctuating in the RS economy like a leaf in the wind, My questions are so: Is it worth investing in it? If so why? If not why not? So if anyone has a comment to put please don't hesitate to write it down and post it Ta muchly, Ez

For a good few months now I've been going for 99 defence as my first combat stat then I'll be going for about 80/85 in attack and strength. So now looking and considering what I'm going for I have some choices to make. I bought myself a DFS when it crashed down to 17m not long ago and I've loved the shield ever since, it has been great, fun, and just epic looking that I was extremely pleased with it and keep thinking that no wonder it was the first ever piece of expensive RS stuff I wanted to buy. So ever since I bought this epicwin of a shield I have been monitoring the GE and the BCP/Tassets. Now I have some options open: 1. Once I get 99 def, sell the DFS and buy a BCP and Tassets (by the time I'm 99 I should have the ~11m difference) and use a defender and weapon of choice. 2. Once I get 99 def, keep the DFS, buy the Tassets, and go to BA until I emerge successful with a Torso. 3. Get 99 def, keep DFS, buy BCP, buy Dragon Legs. 4. Get 99 def, keep DFS and Torags and stay happy with amazing defence bonuses. So there we go, if people could give their own opinion about the options or even give me more options I'd be very grateful. Cheers, Ez

It all personally depends on what you want from your task, though admittedly if I say that potting eats into your profits people will retaliate back with the "but it's only minimum loss etc". I personally never really use any pots except a prayer pot for prayer tasks like black demons, antifires for dragons, and a summoning pot to keep my bunyip. Maybe i am a fool for not potting due to my lower stats but i do find that i can get through many a slayer task quite quickly

I'd sure love to beat the boredom of just alching and alching, alching and alching, alching and alching, alching and alching, alching and alching, alching and alching, alching and alching, alching and alching, alching and alching, alching and you get the picture....... is there anything and i mean ANYTHING that i could do instead of this to try and get my mage to 80? Super defence pots are never really needed in slayer I find; ever since i was quite a low level. But super attack and Strengths will greatly decrease your time slaying, especially combined with say a 10% or 15% prayer and the black mask/slayer helm. And yes cannon would be great for your level regardless because you'll get tasks that can be cannoned therefore increasing your exp because you spend less time on the task Other than that i'd recommend you use summona for your master, you'll be able to do her tasks easily and efficiently. : GL slaying

Just wondering if it's worth getting a torso and bandos tassets or get a bcp and d legs when i get the several million gp for them? Also can anyone help me figure out how to play BA? >.<

I might be a bit biased here seeing as i'm going for 99 defence, but you can value my opinion how you want. And Dark Aura - training defence isn't that slow ;p I've been playing this since september, and genuinely going for def cape since about 2 months ago.... i have 75 attack and strength and i'm 490k off 97 def : First off a mate of mine - Libertherme - is going for 99 fishing, so i know how quick that is too. Right now to business..... If he was to do fishing (as mentioned above) he should go for monkfish. He will get good exp and very nice amount of fish which will fetch roughly 30-40m or so. Shilo is a waste..... if he wants absolute speed then i believe (again as mentioned above) that barbarian fishing would be faster than shilo fly fishing, but as has been said by myself and other posters he should go for monkfish. If he was going for defence I see 3 options: 1. Slayer - by far THE BEST method for training, it keeps you focused and you don't have to grind.... also why not raise one of the hardest skills in the game along with 2 others? He'll get a bomb load of cash and exp and a better slayer level at the end of it. 2. Armoured Zombies - Though i just argued that slayer is the best method, this might beat it in the short term.... i did 85-93 def there gaining about 300K exp a day therefore leveled every other day...... Also in the short term i made a great load of charms and i managed to buy a DFS off the ranarrs and planks etc that they dropped - so in terms of cash and exp it is better then slayer methinks. But i do kinda regret not doing slayer for those levels because it would have meant i'd be much closer to being able to kill abby demons. 3. Daggonoths - not sure how many people think of these, but they're great exp.... just get on guthan plate body and legs and helm, and a weapon and shield of your choice and off you go.... then when you need to heal just whack out the spear.... they're great exp and fact is you'll get seeds and caskets that will pay for the repairs to the armour whenever it is totally destroyed. Bandits are a total waste because you get pretty much no money off them therefore costing you more for your 99. Back to the question - i think defence will be a faster 99 because seeing as Libertherme and I have been kinda racing (well i've been racing him xD) I hope this should come in handy. I just took a 2 week break from RS and have now found out that he's 261Kish (last time i talked to him on msn last night) away from 98..... but it took him about a week to catch up to my defence. Therefore on the value of that i'd say defence will probably be a week quicker. Buuuuuut; one major thing - does your friend intend to boss hunt or slay, or just skill some more?

You'll probably hate me for this but - Slayer for charms and money for shards is best. Then once you've made what you needed to just head to Bogrog that ogre guy and trade all your pouches to him for (i think) it's a 3rd of all the shards you used.

They sometimes do that yeah, but all you have to do is use 30 points and cancell it. It'll then only take 2 tasks to earn back those points if you're using duradel. and as for good exp lets use an average fire giant task as an example: duradel sets 157 fire giants. They each have 111Hp therefore that is 17,427 slayer exp, times that by 4 and you'll get 69,708 in your melee skill. Fire giant tasks go by very quickly making them a perfect candidate for training on etc. But slayer is alright exp when you think about it and good money, try and do every task you can to build up your points and then use them to block tasks, cancell tasks, learn how to do things, and buy those all important runes that make people millions :P

If we really did have the option i'd say slayer, but seeing as you don't want to that can't be helped. And a-z's are probably a good choice for you if you can stand the hopping etc to try and find 1 world without 2 people already there. I had a thing of getting a level every 4 days as i could get about 300K exp a day afking, and so i went from about 89-95 there in 3 weeks and made 13m. If this was school term-time i'd defo say a-z's or daggonoths (you make money from all the seeds they drop :D), but as it's holidays all these good places will be taken up; therefore slayer is technically your only real option. EDIT: you need Defender of Varrock to unlock them

A few weeks ago i posted about me wanting to get 99 defence the fastest possible way. It was technically a choice between slayer (one of my favorite skills) and armoured zombies. HOWEVER seeing as the summer holidays have now started it is seemingly impossible to get a free world without atleast 2 people already at a-z's so i've thought of other methods my friends have told me about. 1st would it be wise to try and stick to a-z's? 2nd though slayer is meant to take about double the time from powertraining should i go back to that instead? 3rd - Daggonoths in the lighthouse. One of my friends went from 96-99 defence in about 2 weeks here using guthans, would this be wise? 4th - try and get a free area at bandits whilst wearing a sara symbol or something? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated it's just i sorta wana get this 99 finished then focus on slayer to 90ish by getting attack and strength up. Ta Ez

I currently detest the skill; it's just so boring.... however i'm willing to do it only if there's a good course to go to. So i'm wondering how much i'll fail at the wildy one..... or what would you guys say would be best for me?

When new BH started i was extremely disappointed that the fury i had spent 2.7m on after scrimping and saving started to plummet...... they hit 1.2m before they started to rise. It is because of BH that they fell and now it seems that they have been taken out of the drop tables they'll reach their old price again. Not sure about whips. But i guess it was jagex's way of trying to make the ge economy more stable.
