  1. I always tried killing chaos druids...it's not great money, but you can get 20k per inventory, roughly, without being picky about what herbs you pick up. I've also heard other people gathering mort myre fungi, but doing this cost-effectively requires a good bit of construction levels and some questing.
  2. True, the exchange rate is not a direct 1/10, but that's because you're "paying" for that little extra experience you get. And why oh why would you not use the shards you get back? Why would you sell them? You'd be spending that 25gp per shard for MORE shards, anyway.
  3. It's all about the KO in PvP. They're the savior of it in that sense. However, it's just another thing to chalk up to Runescape's failing combat system. Weapons are getting more and more powerful while players aren't. It'll only get worse and worse until Jagex increase the cap or alter the combat system altogether.
  4. I've been playing for 4 years, have an 1800 total, have 124 cmb, and no 99's. I've also seen people who've played for a year who have maxed combat and a 900ish overall. The only role a player has to "fulfill" is to enjoy the game.
  5. Maybe the fire feather from the bird on entrana? :) I think it'd be neat if the quest for the Phoenix required you to complete the Hero's Quest.
  6. I've never heard this nor have I seen any supporting evidence for this. EDIT:  In 2008 Jagex CEO Geoff Iddison stated that RuneScape "will be the main investment focus for Jagex for the next five years". http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7090490.stm Of course, it is a widely known fact that that business leaders never contradict themselves. How do those statements contradict themselves? Or did my sarcasm monitor give me a false positive? *taps the glass of detector*
  7. It's only during the quest. After the quest Juna says nothing about it. I didn't say after the quest, I said after defeating the Balance Elemental. You can defeat the B.E. and then tele and bank. I did, because I thought I'd have to fight Lucien :ohnoes:
  8. If you're training all in one go, you're going to waste money. That's just how summoning is. It wasn't meant to be powertrained like that. Make all the pouches into scrolls for the extra bonus exp. It's minimal, but everything counts. Personally, every level or so I go and exchange the finished scrolls back for shards at the Ogre City.
  9. If Juna says something different to you after you defeat the Balance Elemental, I wonder if Fiara will say something different, too.
  10. I can spend 5 hours picking flax, chopping wood, making bowstrings, fletching bows, mining pure essence, making nature runes, and then alching the finished product for a mage level. Or... I could use the money that took 5 hours to make in order to train magic in a faster, more costly way. Everything is proportional. When you decide to level or train or what have you, the method you train will always be decided by these three factors: [*:1uw2bwnr]personal preference [*:1uw2bwnr]your current resources [*:1uw2bwnr]the time you have available to you That's all there is to it, really. Time spent doing things the less costly way is directly proportional to time spent making money.
  11. *reads topic here and RSOF* *facepalm* Personally, when something has either a "Yes" or "No" answer, there's no discussion value. I find this topic just as offensive and obnoxious as the screencapped thread on the RSOF.
  12. For those people who have been around for 4 years or more, how long has it been since you tried your hand at some of the beginner free-to-play quests, or earlier members quests? They SERIOUSLY needed an update, both in content and dialouge. Honestly, I'm glad that this has been done...but I hope Jagex take the initiative to now continue to try to keep things "up to date," rather than taking approximately a half a year's worth of updates for this. These are matters that would be better to be addressed over time, not all at once. And...I haven't seen anyone else ask about it... Where are the State of Play articles? I'm tired of all this sunny outlook stuff. I liked the plain facts, the progress updates, the percentage complete in a project...unbiased, plain information. Also, this BTS seemed to only focus on the upgrades. Yes, we need them. Desperately. I admit that wholeheartedly! But the fact that there was barely any discussion about new content other than the Diaries and the Phoenix leads me to believe that we won't see the following any time soon... [*:7ffddqkd]Key storyline continuations (Legacy of Seergaze, Defender of Varrock, Monkey Madness, Kennith's Concerns, Cold War storyline, etc) [*:7ffddqkd]A new skill (estimated a skill a year, yes?) [*:7ffddqkd]The second Grandmaster Quest [*:7ffddqkd]Kudos Island What we can look to seeing though, by Jagex's admission, was a rework of unused areas. These plauge the runescape map, like ugly burn marks in a pretty piece of silk. Look at this list of unused areas! (And this is just by a quick glace) [*:7ffddqkd]Prifddinas [*:7ffddqkd]most of the area south of the feldip hills [*:7ffddqkd]parts of the Kharidian Desert [*:7ffddqkd]the iceberg area where the penguins lie So you know, that's pretty cool. I guess. Runescape has all other browser-based games beat hands down--considering most major competitors are flash based or HTML based. So to pull in new users, they're going to keep emulating qualities in popular MMORPGS such as World of Warcraft, GuildWars, etc. In this attempt to keep players interested and catching new players, I hope they make time for creating some truly unique concepts to the MMORPG world. They certainly have the force behind them now to take charge in this area of gaming. This looks like a good year for the new users, an alright year for the moderate players, and just another boring year for the hardcore players. I hope that I'm proven wrong for the last two, because I consider myselt to lie inbetween the "moderate" to "hardcore" category.
  13. Now don't I feel like a goof! My apologies :) You're right, that is pretty weird! An extra clickable region...Hmm...*rubs chin* It's a blank template for any sort of aspect of a skill that is exclusive to members. Like how books and wands under the magic skill have a description of "Books and Wands - Members Only." Well, my apologies again and nice find! *prays it's not a fluke*
  14. I just checked the milestones for Mining and Runecrafting. They both say "Milestones" beneath their skill header. It was a glitch. :P
  15. Worst update from a personal perspective would be RSHD. It's a beautiful, lovely, wonderful detail mode that is a testament to what Java can do...but I can't run it. So big whoop for me. I might change my tune whenever I pony up the dough for a better video card...but until then 3 From a community standpoint? Any update that was meant to be a "teaser" for membership. Gnomecopters, corrupt armor, holiday quests that you can only complete for two weeks on F2P, etc...I realize that Jagex MUST explore new avenues of creating membership subscriptions, but it really cheapens the overall feel of the game. EDIT: lol summoning is great doesnt even give you combat levels for pvp any more. free run energy no food used on lower monsters more inv space i could go on..... Yeah, and how much money do you spend to get all that good stuff? Your point? You pay for the best. And, despite what most people say, if you level summoning over time, like you're supposed to, it DOES pay for itself. How much more money did players like you pay to have the best stat boosting equipment before anyone else? I bet if you added those figures up, you would have lost just as much. You're entitled to your opinion. I'm not hoping to make you a summoning fanatic. But I'm just trying to give you a broader perspective. <3
  16. No cash to do so. My boyfriend pays for my membership :3
  17. Minigames are Jagex's way of expanding the game without expanding the level cap. They are necessary, because they'll NEVER expand the level cap.
  18. Community mostly. I find the community of Tip.it to be superior.
  19. No action will probably be taken for it. You're working yourself up over nothing. Does this really need to turn into a morality debate? >_>
  20. Yes, I did it at 85 cmb with sharks and prayer potions. Worked out fine without any troubles.
  21. Lowest possible is 85 combat, considering you unlock some songs during Dream Mentor and Smoking Kills, both which require 85 CMB. EDIT: Oh wait, there ARE more than 500 songs though...hm. Hang on. I have to see how many songs need to be unlocked via quests versus just travelling.
  22. Your range level has nothing to do with your defense level. He wasn't trying to criticise you. You're going to have a spot of trouble ranging and tanking, but I guess that's neither here nor there. The above poster gives an accurate estimate on how long it takes to get there. Getting killcount only takes 10 minutes if you find an empty world on either the German or French worlds. Killing the actual boss monster is tough...I personally can only kill one by myself, two if I get lucky. That takes about 10-15 minutes on its own, on a kill. Adding all these figures, you're looking at roughly 21-26 minutes a trip.
  23. [/hide] [hide=Unfortunately not.][/hide] Doesn't that just mean that people have passed him in summoning since then? It's a dynamic highscores table, isn't it?
  24. What I really want to achieve? Hmm... [*:2qmzfqvp]99 Attack [*:2qmzfqvp]99 Fishing [*:2qmzfqvp]92 Firemaking for the Inferno Adze [*:2qmzfqvp]All stats 80+ [*:2qmzfqvp]85 Slayer :)
