  1. Get one more ranged level. With your def and pray levels, you'd be scooped up by an Armadyl GWD team pretty quickly. It's very easy to get money there via coinshared drops, and you could put the money towards an expensive 99 like prayer, herblore, construction, etc. OR! Get 99 Woodcutting at teak trees near Castlewars. You're nearly half way there and you can get pretty good exp there. OR! Join a clan. Being in a Clan adds a certain layer of fun to the game, I think. They often plan fun community events or have big fights which are entertaining. EDIT: I know most of these things listed are goals and not really tips on motivation. But, for some people, renewing old goals or making new ones are potent motivators. Good luck! OR! Get all stats 80+. You're very close to all stats 70+, and 80+ is a pretty darn good achievement. Not to mention that at 80, you can almost make anything in any skills with spicy stews/potting up. (Almost everything, not all. Examples would be Smithing, Construction, etc)
  2. Well they have to have their hooks in you somehow. It's a very, very effective technique if you think about it. As several people have said, it's very easy to misclick and withdraw everything at once. And if you do that, and it's something irreplaceable...well, they just got another 7 USD to pad their wallets with.
  3. Ehehe...Sorry! No h8 mi pls. :( What a wonderful little idea! I always like tryin' to find original ways to give my friends gifts after the trade limits were enforced...I think this will be this year's gifts! :)
  4. What he said seems pretty relevant to me, considering they're all ways to obtain charms. And the topic creator doesn't seem to be too opposed to grinding, since he inquired about Waterfiends. But what do I know. I would definately train your combat stats a little bit more if you plan to attempt Waterfiends without a bunyip. And yeah, while they're second best to Rock Lobsters, they're still pretty pricy because you buy prayer potions. But...yeah. Regardless, your first priority should be to train a bit, if it's crimsons you desire. (And tbh if you're just going to train anyway, you might as well do slayer and kill two birds with one stone.)
  5. Make money while you don't play or with minimum effort, if you run on time restraints (this is common for highschool students). [*:1aryb4hy]Utilize the Grand Exchange to it's fullest. Buy raw materials overnight (or over a period of time) for minimum price and then resell it for median price or higher, like Dragon Bones or Pure Essence. [*:1aryb4hy]If you've obtained the Varrock 3 Armor from the Varrock Achievement Diary, buy as much battlestaves as you can while wearing that armor and resell at the GE to net you a nice 75k per day. [*:1aryb4hy]UTILIZE MANAGE THY KINGDOM! One of the best offline moneymakers around. You can find out more about it in the AoW most likely. [*:1aryb4hy]Complete the Bork miniquest every day to obtain the amount of charms you'd receive from a task from Vannaka in a matter of 10-15 minutes or less. [*:1aryb4hy]Farming! Grow willow trees in all the farming allotments, then trim their branches daily and sell them on the GE. Grow whiteberries or jangerberries, popular herblore ingredients, and then pick them daily to net a nice small amount of money per day without a lot of hassle. [*:1aryb4hy]While you play, have a familiar that gathers things such as the Rock Crab, Fruit Bat, Macaw, etc. Sell what it gathers as bonus profit. [*:1aryb4hy]Go to Tears of Guthix every week to get experience in your lowest skill for free. This is very good for those who have expensive skills, such as Construction or Summoning, as their lowest skill. [*:1aryb4hy]Farming! Again! Farming herbs are a GREAT way to get double your profit! Simply grow toadflax seeds while you're logged out. They don't die often, and what you harvest usually makes up for any plant that should die. I have left herb patches for 5+ days, had 3 that died, and still came out with profit after selling the herbs that survived. Usually Unoccupied Skilling Spots: [*:1aryb4hy]Beneath the Grand Tree for mithril, coal, adamant, and gold. [*:1aryb4hy]At the U shaped rocks northwest of Brimhaven's port for easy gold mining (House teleport in Brimhaven + ring of dueling for easy access) [*:1aryb4hy]Level 38 wilderness green dragons are almost ALWAYS empty. Glory to edge, hop over the gully on the RIGHT side of the river lum, run up to the Ancient Magic Portal, and teleport until you reach green dragons. Good for gathering crafting/prayer supplies or making money. [*:1aryb4hy]Training herblore the hard way? Access the Yanille Dungeon. Chaos Druids there are almost ALWAYS empty. Bring a macaw to increase the droprate of higher level herbs. [*:1aryb4hy]Armored Zombies. They're becoming more popular now, but they're still fantastically uncrowded. One of the best places to train combat in a "semi afk" manner. [*:1aryb4hy]Piscatoris Fishing Colony. Right outside is an iron rock triangle similar to the one that used to be in Al Kharid, great for powermining iron. That's all I know...not all of it was as "special" as it was a year or so ago :( Merry christmas! ^^
  6. I think Steel + 4 Cannonballs means the EXP of smithing the steel bar plus the amount of exp to turn that into cannonballs. And yes, it is 4 cannonballs per 1 bar.
  7. I find using a Glory Amulet is more effective, since I'm always wearing my glory. I rarely ever use necklaces of any sort.
  8. Ahhh...finally. Now I feel like that Dragon Platebody article is complete. It really was missing that "other" side to the argument. I hope that the Tip.It times tries to incorporate this "Pros and Cons" approach with further articles--except maybe include them in just ONE article instead of two seperate ones. Articles that cover both arguments instead of just one biased = better reading. Otherwise, I enjoyed the article for one thing. It leaves things open to discussion. Take the author's point on the Grand Exchange, for one. It's a bit harder to do that because of how ridgid the GE's programming logic is. I don't think the items will ever unfreeze until they reassess the GE's structure. And, until the structure is changed, there will always be a desire to junk trade. It's just too easy to go, "Here, take this junk that I don't feel like carting off to an NPC and give me an item I REALLY want!" There might be infinite demand from those NPCs, but people will see it as more of a chore and thus still favor junking. I see what you mean, though it it as a whole looks better if you view this as "Part 2" of the Dragon Platebody article. This is the approach that Stormveritas should have taken when explaining the "Wasted Bullets" article; but, since he didn't, Ts_Stormrage tied the loose ends.
  9. Yew logs are at an all-time high and you have a good woodcutting level, one of your best noncombat skills. They might not be lightning fast, but they're relaxing. Depending on how you feel, a calming skill might be best for you. I find Woodcutting less tedious than Runecrafting or Slayer, yet still profitable. And I know when I'm depressed after being hacked/scammed, I usually despise tedious tasks. Not to mention with Woodcutting, you can AFK--which is good with midterms (for high school'ers)/finals (for Uni students) coming up. AFKing = prime study time.
  10. If you're buying a Saradomin Sword solely for strength training, the extra 3-6k exp an hour is not worth it. With two handed weaponry comes less speed and accuracy, which is a trade off I'm not willing to make when it comes to strength training--it's tedious enough as it is. EDIT: Not to mention that if you choose to continue training strength while doing slayer, you might find yourself in a situation where you need your shield arm open for use, like with Skeletal Wyverns or Dragons of any sort. I had the OPTION to buy a Saradomin Sword from level 85 strength. I chose not to buy it (when they were 11mil) and trained to 94 purely on my scimitar. If you're going to sell objects in pursuit of buying another, I wouldn't sell your Amulet of Fury imo. You should be aiming to maximize your strength bonus in any way you can so you can hit harder more often. Especially with slayer--it too, is tedious enough to train without hitting as best you can.
  11. Personally, I felt the same way. But I think it was my own shoddy luck, because I came across a fellow in Forsakenmage's chat who had very nearly a 1:1 addy bar to avies kill count ratio. It's just bad luck '-'
  12. There are tons of cows all over the f2p map. There's the common spot right by the al-kharid gate, the pen right by the Crafting Guild, and the spot by the Gnome Copters and deposit box.
  13. Meh. If they gave an hour, people would have [bleep]ed for a day. If they gave a day, people would want two. If they gave two, people would want a week. Do you see the trend here? This was the ONLY thing they could do, logically, after releasing that update. That is not to say that this whole travesty should have ever happened. I don't even have 99 Construction and I feel that Jagex stepped over the line to call those who used it BUG ABUSERS. That is an insult to every legitimate player out there. This should have NEVER happened. But given the fact that we don't live in a fantasy world, this is only thing that COULD HAVE happened.
  14. Nah. Look at the update trends since they changed the updating schedule. Stealing Creation. While Guthix Sleeps assisting issue. Fally diaries with making pyre ships and runecrafting assistance. Mobilizing Armies pushed back. Etc etc. The quality of testing has been very poor as of late. I have a strong, strong feeling it's because of these back to back updates. Personally, I'm shocked that this is the first time the whole "We don't like it = bug abuse" thing has been realized. Almost every single "nerf" Jagex has performed in Runescape's lifetime has been EXACTLY like this. This just might be the first time people have lost so much money...I guess that's why it's so significant. I also find it hilarious that several players are posting in the Recent Updates boards going, "Oops, I got to 92 runecrafting and made loads of money! Must've been a glitch. Don't ban me!" just to stir up trouble. Honestly, if you lost a small amount of money (few mils), I feel bad for you. But at least you have the comfort of laughing at the people who foolishly hoarded magic stones. Really now, if they had that kind of money to just throw around, they're not going to be THAT affected by the loss.
  15. Not to be callous, I'm glad you got your stuff back and everything...but this is what's wrong with runescape. Had this been prior to Dec 07', you would have had 50mil-ish drained out of the economy after dying and more spending.
  16. A jagex mod could code himself millions if he truly wanted to. No, I think this was just a way to make junk trading less feasible.
  17. Since when has any holiday quest tied into a current storyline? :/
  18. There's a topic quoting the french newspost. Also, it doesn't have discussion on the banner. Yeah, both topics COULD be merged but meh :-w
  19. Looks like concept art for this upcoming Winter Event quest. :)
  20. You use this herb patch in the While Guthix Sleeps quest.
  21. Has anyone since completed the quest though, after these messages have started popping up? Maybe this IS a new requirement, that they added for those who do the quest since then.
  22. EDIT: check farming guide: White lily: protects all fruit and vegetables from disease. ...But not herbs?! Arfgghhhh! The only part of this diary that would make that update USEFUL is utterly useLESS without it. -_-'
  23. He's part of the While Guthix Sleeps quest. EDIT: Oops, let me rephrase XD He is part of the quest. You capture and interrogate him.
  24. Since they're not keeping the points gained equivalent to points received, it'd probably be safe to assume that they'll be harder to get. The added difficulty is the extra time.
  25. Runecrafting is an invaluable skill, I find. I personally don't like spending a lot of money on Nature Runes or Law Runes for everyday use unless I absolutely have to. I would personally train it until you're able to craft Law Runes. You don't necessarily have to do alching with farming unless you're planting allotments, which can be pricey depending on what you grow. You can do nearly anything if you're planning on leveling it with just Fruit Trees/Regular Trees. You can even train slayer while doing farming instead--that way, you're killing two birds with one stone!
