Seasonal affective disorder. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seasonal_affective_disorder That's an actual psychological disorder related to depression, and according to Wikipedia no more than 10% of people have it. IMO there's a general (but minor) negative change in mood during the winter months.
  2. The Bible was written by man so who cares what evidence people have? The creators of links are just as fallible as those who use (or don't) use them. It's a matter of personal preference and debating it just makes people more entrenched in their own views. E:@Nex - I grew up UU and I think it's a great ideology to begin with, but my personal experiences with it have been negative. It's still faith and it's still wrong, plus it's enabling of stuff like Pascal's Wager.
  3. I was listening to it because I hadn't heard it before, when I know most good Smashing Pumpkins songs. I can't say I really liked it. They have a lot of better stuff. OT: Modest Mouse - Little Motel
  4. Quitting RS ;) Hm. The quest cape in RS was really the only reason I played, Wc cape just felt like I was wasting time. When I was younger, 100% on two Mario GBA games, lvl 100 Zapdos on Leafgreen GBA, 100% on PS2 for Sly 2, Sly 3, Jak 1, Jak 2, Jak 3, KHII, SWBFII, and whatever other games I owned at the time. Recently, I don't really do achievement stuff. 100% Super Mario Wii and bought every good player for Fifa 2010 Wii, I guess.

It's the lower temperature and lower light, it makes people extra-irritable. Though, to be fair, most of the worst parts of my year were during summer months. But that was because I was around the house a lot more, so had plenty of time to get into trouble. I think also the whole increased focus on family and spending money puts people on edge.

Yea, for real. They cannot cook the general tsao's properly. UGH! Some places have really good Tsao's and egg rolls, but proportionally most Chinese restaurants I've come across (at least in my area) serve flavorless crusty rations. I figure I'll have an easier time being pro-Mexican. Lesson learned: Risky Mexican is better than average Chinese.
  7. Yeah, the employer subtracts the projected tip from the salary, so by not paying a for delivery you're denying the poor guy his salary. It's bad enough he has to drive around smelling pizza all day and not eat any of it.
  8. qft OT: Because I hadn't heard it.

If she hadn't procreated, we wouldn't have Saru. As for myself, apparently psychological testing is going ahead. Stayed home from school because I stayed up a few nights in a row. mlia. Also, that whole police thing (Saru's mom calling the cops on him) really annoys me. It's a waste of taxpayer money and it's really self-important of her to think that they should deal with a family issue. Plus, it's an abuse of the legal system and psychologically damaging to the son. Generally speaking.
  10. Tips. They're like interest on food. Personally, I don't tip delivery people here. The place I get my pizza from charges a three dollar delivery fee, so in reality, no tip is necessary. Even if there weren't a delivery fee, I still wouldn't pay them -- not because I don't respect them for being paid to drive to my house, but because I'm not forced to tip them. Pizza is pizza, and I really don't care if the person who delivers it doesn't like me. You are doing it wrong. Please refer to the thread title for more information. I always tip extra and occasionally let random people keep the change. For example, buying a pack of mints for 85c, who wants to carry around 15c in his pocket for the rest of the day? Or, after going to a barber at 4:45 when they close at 5, give a 6$ tip on a 14$ haircut. Who cares? It's just a little bit of money, and they appreciate it more than I miss it.
  11. Like Iamdan said, it's very little to go on. I think she probably likes you, and the rose thing would go well, but if you're not really sure then start flirting with her first. The best course of action is to buy the rose, find her alone, flirt a bit, and if she seems to want it to go ahead, then launch the whole rose and ask out thing.

Highly unlikely. Anyways, what are you getting me? 4 loko and a tab of acid. Murder, I say. The plot thickens.
  13. Same. When I'm supposed to be working, I like to stay working and not just hang around pretending to do stuff. ?

[bleep]ing [bleep]. Did you try to tell them you were gay, or is it something else? And are they serious, or just being impulsive?
  15. Tycho really bothers me. He only bets when he's doing well, and rarely bets heavily, so I always end up facing off against him at the end. His is also the only item I don't have yet. In other news, the treasure hunt requires you to have ten friends. I'll be adding people from the TIF group. They also listed some buggy game demo as an achievement, which just crashes when people start it anyways.

It's been supposed to snow for a while here. I would say something about how two snow days in a row isn't that unusual (normally happens at least once around here), but it hasn't snowed yet. A snow day tomorrow would be so great, I've got a massive project due and I'm already tired :wall:

A good writer does not need to be understood, only to an extent. That being, if he/she makes up for it by being profound or raising new questions. While I would agree most great writers understand grammar, many great writers became famous for breaking the rules. What is accepted in literature is always changing thanks to great writers who push the envelope. You have to know the rules to break them.

I learnt all that stuff for the 3 years I had to take tests about it. When you stop having a teacher constantly reminding you about the different kinds of words, you will know what an useless knowledge it is and you will forget about it in no time. I mean, as long as you know how to create a proper sentence, there's no need in knowing what kind of word is each one of those. Exactly. I never got the damn importance of these things. When you're building a lego house, you don't examine and test the quality of the brick, you just get the two by two yellow block and move the [bleep] on. But if you're building a real house, you better pay attention to the type of block. There's a reason only kids and really cool people play with Legos. Again, building a real house would be writing a dictionary. Which then you would HAVE to know what part of speech it is. Though for general writing, books, articles, I've never come across the importance of the part of speech. Poems and songs, if they're structured like that might have a use, but the majority do not. On the contrary, professional writers should understand parts of speech if they wish their writing to be grammatically correct. Conversely, grammatically correct writing is not required of a professional writer for their works to be successful if still well understood. A good writer does not need to be understood, but should understand grammar before attempting anything sketchy.
  20. I use a disposable razor and Gillette foamy regular and those of you who don't should suck it up.
  21. You have said that about at least three other (large) topics that I've seen, including "Abortion". Including the part about leaving.
  22. Right. But metal by definition is not necessarily screamy - that's screamo. It's like saying punk is always liberal.
  23. And then Saru shows up with side 3 to say "lawl guys it's not green, alright?" and now we have a thread about how all topics on TIF ultimately degrade to a debate on religion and/or politics in which we all complain about a lack of links and then criticize the links.
  24. This is OT. Everything is an argument. Also your ugly teehee ... On a thread about kindness, no less. You dare to blemish the sanctity of the Nice Thread? [spoiler=Balance Is Now Restored (courtesy of Ruerin and the search button)]
