The F2P General Discussion Thread
I personally prefer to start off as the hunter-that way when I'm hunted, I can just die quickly without piling up charges as insurance against a challenging opponent. As long as the rate of tokens is sufficient to buy 1 pair of gloves in the time it would take to run 1,000 essence to the earth altar (~45-50 minutes in my experience, assuming use of teleports), you either make up for it or break even. Also, for next time you might get a faster response by making a thread in the H&A section.

Next Poll Suggestion
All I was thinking of how it would affect my profits from merching. I didn't really consider anything else  .

Next Poll Suggestion
Also, when the actual yes/no/don't care vote came up, I voted no (I don't remember if it was one or two), but for completely self-serving reasons. (And actually, free trade didn't hurt those interests.) I'm not sure why I voted twice.

Next Poll Suggestion
I have many accounts, but I think I voted with two of them, but not twenty times. And it seems people still haven't "learned their lesson." I challenge anyone to go to the Recent Updates forum and count how many times players ask Jagex to let them "vote" on or evaluate new updates before they are released.

The F2P General Discussion Thread
It is of note skillers still had the altar teleports from GOP, and 50 runecrafting is not a very demanding prerequisite for any serious skiller, if you know what I mean.

20-Mar-2012 - Bakriminel Bolts
Wonder why they did this? Apparently (and I constructed this almost from imagination), there was a scam. Here's how it worked: >Players 1 and 2 both have a Santa hat. >Player 1 promises to let player 2 "hold" their Santa hat in exchange for borrowing player 2's santa hat. Perhaps there is some excuse like not "risking" it in a dangerous situation where 3 items are kept. >They trade; player 1 puts up the Santa, and player 2 puts up a loan. >Player 1 declines the trade. >Player 2 believes they have loaned out Player 2's Santa to Player 1 and that the Santa in their inventory is Player 1's Santa. In fact, the Santa in Player 2's inventory is Player 2's, and Player 1 still has his Santa. In fact, no loan has taken place. >Player 1 asks for his Santa back. >Player 2, believing his Santa is loaned to Player 1, gives his Santa back. >Player 1 actually now has both Santas and leaves.

Hidden Updates
The Squeal of Fortune now requests confirmation when attempting to discard a prize. @Below: Okay, oops...

Those values should be sufficient for a formula, aside from double-checking...

I'm sick of randoms
Well for me, a random event is a nice chunk of runecrafting xp, and at least from purely an efficiency perspective, it's a faster xp rate than doing some runecrafting would be, so I won't complain.

So i truly don't get it...
I think people do it because it's "fun" to see or know the other person will be angry. Just think of all the television shows or scenes with someone becoming angry enough that they completely lose it. I'm sure many people have laughed at those.

The F2P General Discussion Thread
If you're sufficiently inventive, the loadstones could be helpful. Fire rune running might be a bit faster now, for example. You also get a free teleport very close to places such as Port Sarim (although Karamja already has a noting service), so maybe it could be used to return faster after a banking trip.

This "free trial"
As far as I can tell there IS pressure to stay F2P exerted by F2P clans, and vice versa for P2P ones.

Fire rune running
I guess I'll do some more fire running and see if I cant at least get up to 9.5k/hr. Right now such a rate seems almost unbelievable. It also seems to indicate 13k/hr xp with air runes, without gloves (!!). I must be doing something wrong...

Runecrafting might still need them, unless my idea works...

Is it worth coming back?
The bots seem to be returning to F2P, particularly the ones shouting out the websites we should visit to buy gold.

Fire rune running
For anyone who does fire rune running, do you think the loadstone method makes running fire runes worthwhile for F2P? The method is: (1) Start at Al-Kharid bank. (2) Home teleport. (3) Run to altar and craft. (4) Home teleport and bank. (5) Repeat (2). (6) Rest, and then repeat (3), (4). (7) Start again. Note: Resting is a few seconds out of the way so resting every other run is more efficient. Since I don't run fire runes I figure I might be able to get my times down slightly with enough practice, but here is what I have so far. I did 2 tests consisting of running two trips of essence each, yielding 28*7*1.1 xp (full inventory and explorer ring) and they took 3:07 and 3:04. Using the latter, that is around 8400xp/hr, which falls a little short of other methods, if memory serves. It is also noteworthy that there is almost no profit for fire runes compared with others.

I think it's safe to say the loadstones completely devalue cabbageport, aside from being cute.

The F2P General Discussion Thread
I used to mine runite in the wilderness, and that was how I made my initial stockpile of cash. But since then my interest has waned, so I haven't kept up. I did try the safe mining spot unlocked by Dungeoneering, but there were too many bots there...

6-March-2011 - Player Armour, Gnomes and Clan Fealty
If zamorak armor is any indication, people seem to vote with their money that they like this graphical update. From firsthand transactions I gather the leg set is up at least half a million gp in real price (a 20% gain) since a few days ago.

The F2P General Discussion Thread
So you think they are allowing bots to keep prices down despite the increase of Bxpw and prevent the get-rich-quick scheme of buying and selling unneeded materials from taking effect?

Tip.It Times - 4th March 2012
What exactly does the second part of this have to do with the first part? The point is the prospect of a leader with no real competition is boring. I hadn't actually considered Jagex's "convenience" updates as agent to fight the incentive to bot, but that's an interesting point. Thanks for bringing it up.
