  1. :o Traitor! Firemaking is easily the fastest, easiest and cheapest 99 out there... Hence level 96 ;) I love all skills but refuse to train Construction any further. May be true, but is also interminably boring for me :P The sexy cape would be the only motivation for me.
  2. I agree, Heartbeats by Jose Gonzales was a favourite of mine and my ex's for a long time. It's my most played song, ever really, with the playcount going into the hundreds. Now everytime I hear it...it's quite painful really.
  3. Try busking somehow with a piano, that's always fun and interesting to see what kind of interest you can generate. :) As for piano songs, look at David Gray stuff, Coldplay or Beatles classics. Try doing some covers of songs you like for piano and voice. Experiment, don't just repeat oldies.
  4. Gaming should always come last, as deloria said. I still "game" because I still have time for it and still enjoy it, so why not? Always make sure you're doing it out of fun and enjoyment though, not compulsion. If there are people who you get on with at school and you've found a good group of friends who you enjoy being around for god's sake don't neglect them and make the most of them. It's a rare gift. If there aren't, don't worry about it. A common myth is that your school friends stick with you for life, which is untrue. I know lots of people with fantastic social lives which were never founded at school. Indeed, they maintain contact with maybe only a couple of people from school. Don't look for friends at school just for the sake of it.
  5. There are a lot of skills I want to like badly, but just can't seem to come to terms with. Crafting is a big one for me. I can't really find a way to train it that's very cheap and efficient or vice versa yet. To do it properly it seems like i'd need more cash than I have or more patience than I have. Firemaking and fletching i've never quite seen the appeal of. Point click to the point of boredom really, but again I do want to raise them simply so that they look nice. But they hold no real desire in my heart. Herblore, gawd. Farming makes obtaining herbs slightly easier but it's still a drag. I want a high level in it simply because it's a challenge, but it really is a money eater if you let it. And Krohn, honestly farming is the easiest thing to train. If you want fast exp, curry seeds are god (and cheap) but if you want profit farm herbs and limpwurts. Just do a farming run in between slayer tasks, makes the levels fly by. :)
  6. Learn to read, [developmentally delayed]. He said he has a family member in a mental institution as a result of weed. That's experience. Sorry to be a nazi and all, but likewise, learn to read. He said firsthand experience, suggesting having tried it personally. You think he'll want to do that after having a family member put in an instiution? I don't think it's that bad at all really. There is a link between mental illness and weed smoking, but that's rare and not across the board. I haven't done it before, but i'm not against people doing it.
  7. The equivalent in the UK would be a university. I'm looking at going to Cambridge.
  8. :wall: You just love making my job easy don't you? *waits for resulting flames to clean*
  9. the only problem with alternative energy is that it still has to come from somewhere. solar, wind and water are the only "pure" alternative energies, and of the above, none are reliable or abundant enough to provide a sufficent amount of energy. electric, hydrogen, and other so called "alternative energies," are really just the same things as what we use now, just disguised so liberals can plant this idealistic image in the public's head. where do you think electricity comes from? you have to plug electric cars up to a power source, which is most likely a coal-burning power plant. hydrogen is almost nonexistent in its pure form, and takes a huge amount of energy to extract it from water. again, probably from a coal-burning plant. so maybe we can reduce our dependance on oil by this, but it would only increase coal dependance. ive done a lot of research on alternative energy, and i believe the safest, cleanest, and most effective could possibly be nuclear power. the only problem is packaging, because a minor error or mistake could be devastating to an entire country. but, if done right, and safely, nuclear energy makes a massive amount of power with relatively little waste. BUT, nuclear waste poses another problem. basically, any good alternative to the energy we have now is a LONG way and a LOT of money away. I agree. Hydrogen fuels may emit water vapour only but that's the biggest greenhouse gas of them all. Electric cars really are pathetic. They go no way whatsoever towards solving dependency on fossil fuels yet people who drive them think they're eco-warriors. Bio fuels are an interesting concept but the amount of crop space required to create a suitable amount would detract from food supplies. Perhaps if by genetically engineering plants we could make photosynthesis just 2% efficient instead of 1. Sadly, no one will ever want to see nuclear power used widespread. You can almost see why unless the safety and security is placed above all else, they really are risky things. Nuclear fusion could be interesting though, if ever developed.
  10. I find the very concept of pretty much all religions very interesting. I've always enjoyed religious studies at school, and I suppose the religions i've found the most interesting to study are Islam and Hinduism.
  11. Corporations are profit organisations, but that doesn't mean that they can be free from morality. I agree that because corporations are only ever made up of individual people it could be viewed that they are dodging the moral consequences, which is why the same rules have to apply. I disagree entirely that corporations should be allowed to regulate themselves. I've seen a few examples of companies who have gained a sense of morality and social consciousness but only to gain profit. Individuals may have a sense of morality but put them in a corporate environment and they soon lose it. A corporation made up of these kind of people cannot be trusted to self regulate. They must be kept in line by the same standards that we would apply to individuals.
  12. Quite clearly it's very easy to say that parents should have the control over their children so that they don't have to spank them. But in practice of course that's ridiculous. Some children are absolute brats, and need some kind of forceful discipline. As long as it doesn't turn into child abuse (which is against the law anyway, so this bill being passed won't effect that) then there's nothing wrong.
  13. Build more prisons. My views on capital punishment are have changed a lot , but at the moment i've settled against it. Especially to simply free up space in prison. Taking someone's life shouldn't be taken lightly. If life sentences really meant life for certain things i'd have a lot more faith in the system. I think muderers, rapists and other general nasties should have to live out the rest of their lives in prison, with their liberty deprived. Rehabilitation rarely works, and frankly in a lot of cases I don't think they deserve it. Build more prisons, don't make them very nice, just basic. Put all the nasties in there, and throw away the key. Life doesn't have to be taken, and the new prisons act as a deterrent.
  14. I think it's been closer in the past, but that maybe was just between certain users, and they have moved on, and taken that sense of it with them. I don't know, but it certainly feels different.
  15. Moved to music and movies. :)
  16. Are you referring to god's in different dimensions or parallel universes? String theory for instance predicts roughly 11-21 dimensions (depening on the version) but all these are part of the same reality and universe (pretty much). I recognize God as creator of all of the space that is in the universe. But what I am disccusing here is could there be other universes completely different from this one with another God, or would God be the God of all universes. :-k In that case I would have to say it would be a different God, but essentially the same. It's kind of illogical, since the universe technically by definition is everything we know of, but a parallel universe would probably have a similar God but one that perhaps has had different effects. Similar to the quantum worlds theorem that Lateralus suggested.
  17. Far too pricey for me. If I were to get another console i'd get a Wii, they look much more sociable and simple, good natured fun. I'm not that serious of a gamer to warrant spending that kind of money on one of those.
  18. Do I believe that the earth is warming up on globally? Of course I do, and to not to would be foolish. Do I believe all the scare stories that cheap air flights are destroying the world? Of course not. I recognise that we as humans are having some effect on greenhouse gas levels in the atmosphere and probably are warming it up slightly. But the earth is warming up naturally anyway, like it or not, and has been forever. Naturally, there are certain issues that need to be looked at seriously. The deforestation of certain areas without replanting will only exasebate the situation. The research of alternative energy fuels is important for our sake as much as the planets. And making businesses and industry less polluting is probably good for the sake of our lungs as much as anything.
  19. Weird, i've never seen or heard of one of those before. They do sound like a good idea though, until people realise they're cardboard :P

  21. Sorry, but this is spam. Locked
  22. Sadly though their differing views and beliefs can lead to a potential risk to other human life. I hope you aren't suggesting that Islam is such a belief that leads to potential risk to other human life? You're a moderator on this site; I would expect more. But maybe I'm misunderstanding. Sorry, you probably misunderstood my point. My point is that we may all be humans but we all have different beliefs and values. I wasn't specifying Islam at all, simply that wars and conflicts have been fought for thousands of years because fellow humans have held different beliefs. "Their" didn't refer to any group in particular. I wasn't ranting about islam at all. Like Parabola I was simply debunking the myth that Islam is a religion completely opposed to any form of violence. I have studied islam and can recognise that 99% of the time it is a very peaceful, tolerant religion. But there is harm done. It feels like you're being picked out as someone who is 'evil'. I imagine that you have no intention of blowing yourself up, so you'd probably feel quite victimised if someone kept seriously suspecting you of considering it. I've been picked out before for random spot checks at airports and such. When I was travelling with my mother and father. I'm a white, english looking guy. I'm not saying I shouldn't have been picked out at all, and it was reassuring that a security presence is being maintained. But if they picked me simply to fill a quota that said they had to balance out the people they chose, I don't think that's necessarily right. Let's not forget that any random checks are done to protect human life, not to victimise the people who make them. If they feel victimised then i'm sorry but they need to get used to it because that's the society we live in today.
  23. Scientific advancement and space research? The US have tested hundreds of nuclear weapons but we haven't been plunged into a nuclear war yet. They're just flexing their muscle and testing the water. *Cough* The USA dropped two nukes on Japan once upon a time. I could see if they just wanted the satellite destroyed 'cause it was useless, but this should be considered an act of "war advancement", not...Uhh, space research. However you figured that. :P And look how quickly they surrendered? :P It actually was a useless satellite but that wasn't really the purpose of the test. What i'm saying is that countries have tested weapons for years and yet suddenly because it's China everyone's worried.
