SwordFish666's Guide To ALL Skill Cape Anims! [WARNING 56K]
Headnazgul replied to Swordfish666's topic in General Discussion
Most of them have been flagged with an imageshack "bandwidth exceeded" message... try using photobucket instead. Otherwise nice job collecting those. My favorite so far is the quest one though, with hitpoints shortly after it I think. -
quick level 1 clues + logs up to #530 [updated 11/28/07]

Why do you recommend full H.A.M.? What purpose does it serve when thieving them? Personally, when I thieve H.A.M. members I find it extremely annoying when other people are wearing H.A.M. robes. -
Try doing it all yourself ;)

Correct, but some events appear far more often than others. Like the Frog Prince\Princess event happens far more often than the Quiz Master for example. The Mime event though is one of the more rare ones (it's not the rarest but it's close), and since breadmaker40 got 2 since the October Updates list, he thinks they've been made more common. More common, but still random. In my opinion though breadmaker40, you just got lucky, or were doing more things which can trigger those random events (or stopped standing around in banks as much :P).

It's always been like that. Those are the Date Posted. When those appear there it means they were recently edited, probably for spelling errors, updated pictures, added info, etc. The dates never change though, so for example if the Monkey Madness Quest page was recently updated, it would appear on the Knowledge Base' front page, but the date you see will be the date the original Monkey Madness Quest page was posted, and not the date it was edited.

Meleeing Iron\Steel Dragons (Aug2006)(AoW)
Headnazgul replied to Headnazgul's topic in General Guides
Black mask is already in there. It's under the comments in the Recommended Equipment section. It's only a small mention though because this guide wasn't intended specifically for tasks but rather killing them to make money. The extremist setup actually works pretty well, but you are right that it is risky to use at them and also the repairs can add up. With that setup though, you can turn your prayer off between kills more safely because of its much better defense bonuses, which means you actually save a few prayer potion doses by the end of the round. Whether the amount you can save using that setup makes up for the higher prayer bonus of my personal setup, I don't know. But honestly I added that setup to show what you could use to satisfy people saying Restore Potions work better, or Sara Brews work better, or that Verac has better melee defense so it's safer to use, etc. -

Updated the guide again :). Fixed a couple typos and added a FAQ section. -
Magic Dart really doesn't use magic attack bonus?
Headnazgul replied to Saru Inc's topic in Help and Advice
Ahem.... RAHK is a MALE. Long story short, he lost a bet, which is why he is female in rs. But yes I have found that slayer dart is greatly affected by magic bonus. What a lot of others have said is totally true; the brothers just have super low magic defense. Try fighting an infernal mage with slayer dart while wearing armor, then do it while wearing mystic+. HUGE difference in how much you hit. -
I can confirm indefinitely that the Mind Shield does work against Skeletal Wyverns. The highest they hit in around 5 minutes was an 8, and I had no protect prayers on.
-
Make sure when testing if it works to turn off melee protect. Melee protect negates all damage done by the Wyvern's breath, so if you want a definitive answer be sure to use mage protect or no protection prayers at all.
-
Yeah... nothing is bigger than Tztok-Jad in my opinion. Jad's front leg is like two thirds the size of the KQ alone :S
-
uh, early this morning the new mind elemental shield didnt protect against skeletal wyverns, my friend super majin tested it out and has a post on the official forums about it. Yes, but melee protect blocks the attack which the elemental shield protects against anyway, so the mage bonus from the shield is why I am using it, because in this setup, the only damage I receive is from the Wyverns' occasional magic spell. Don't worry bout me lol, I know my way around the Wyverns :).

There's only one other door down there and that's body. And jagex probably won't be releasing a 4th part to such a basic series, my guess is it will end at body. The Body shield will probably be like +11 or +12 magic defense. If they made anything past Body, it would start making the Mage's book (+15 mage def) pointless, and Infinity is like the dragon armor of the mages, so I doubt they will make anything to replace such a valuable piece of the set. But that's just my best guess, Jagex has thrown some curve balls in the past. But here's another question to ponder, what color do you all think it will be? My guess is blue :D. For now though, I'm just enjoying the color-matching of Mind shield + Proselyte at Skeletal Wyverns :3>.

whats the rarest item which isn't a rare???
Headnazgul replied to mrmyk's topic in General Discussion
I agree fully on the flag, those are extremely rare. But the Void Knight set, easy to obtain. Only two or 3 days of PC. The gloves however... yeah... those would be rare, they're useless (horrible stats compared to other gloves). -
Just be thankful those stupid wall beasts aren't assigned anymore. Those were annoying. Looking through the current list that Duradel assigns though, almost all of them are fine by me now \. BTW, Blaziken, I think the word you were looking for is "assigned". Sorry, normally I don't correct people but that was hard to follow lol :S

When I fought there for awhile last year, people kept telling me their "friend" got a d med, but no one could provide proof. Back then the only site that had d med listed on the bestiary was RuneHQ, but now according to one of the previous posters, it doesn't. But tip.it now does o.O. I've never believed they drop d meds, but I suppose its possible... As for the D Spear, my friend who was almost always training there with me got one of those off them, along with a left half.

Headnazgul replied to Headnazgul's topic in General Guides
Heh, that error totally slipped my mind. Thanks. Although I knew Warrior only added slash, I didn't think to adjust the setup for the D long for some reason. I was just thinking of the cheapest items that work decently against the dragons. I'll add a Proselyte helm to that setup, maybe that will make Wozfe happy :P. -

Headnazgul replied to Headnazgul's topic in General Guides
Nah, although I enjoy fighting monsters that everyone else hates for so-called "good reasons," Bronze Dragons really are just plain horrible monsters to fight lol :P. The dogs attack you and they have horrible loot for what it takes to kill them, so there really isn't consistent profit from them at all. You may expect a Skeletal Wyvern guide here eventually though. But that one will be based more for fun than profit, as those are very expensive monsters to fight. -

Yay, updated. I added the newer versions of the equipped items menu. My RS character has never looked so pretty :) And as for that ^. I added my answer to that as well. Which is simply that the Tiny Elf Crystal is also a great choice for metal dragons not only because its a one inventory space teleport, but also because it's a one-click teleport. Since the new lumby teleport doesn't work during combat you won't be able to use it for emergencies, like if you're out of food and prayer and get dangerously low on hitpoints on your last drag. With the elf crystal you just click it and you're safe. But with this new one you would have to run away until you found a safe place to teleport. -
Are you people crazy? :?. Obviously you haven't tried getting top 1000 overall... With everything else on that list, you're just racing against yourself. You can take as long as you want. But when trying to reach top 1000 overall, you're not just racing against yourself but thousands of other players. You have to be faster at gaining levels than all those people. It is all about speed. I was ranked between about 900 and 1000 for at least a year before I gave up due to stress. You have no idea how hard it is to stay under that mark, how competitive it is between players. One week off of rs and you can lose 50+ ranks, which at a rank of 1000 is a HUGE loss. The people who are currently in the top 1000 deserve that spot... They've shown that they're better than countless others at gaining levels and gaining them fast. Right now the player in rank 1000 has 1901 skill total. Now ask yourself... which takes longer and more determination and dedication to get... 1901 skill total or the others on the list... Seems like an easy choice to me. Anyway, sorry bout the rant :P. But keep the polls coming rawr.

For the record the eggs and the fenced off areas have been there since the area was released. It was a year ago so naturally the posts pertaining to the eggs have been lost, but they had no use then, and I'm willing to bet they never will. They're just like the eggs at various dragon layers; they have no use, just there for fancy decoration. PURELY a rumor, but I've heard of people seeing Tztok-Jad spawn in the closed off lava lake to the south when someone reaches the last wave of Fight Caves. I tried it personally when a friend reached him and I didn't see anything though. I am very anxious for them to open up the rest of that city though. There is a few hints of what you may find, like new weapons, scattered across RS. If you wanna know what I mean just check out the Tzhaar Champion's throne under the Champion's Guild.

Meleeing Iron\Steel Dragons (Aug2006)(AoW)
Headnazgul replied to Headnazgul's topic in General Guides
The warrior vs the initiate\proselyte helms really depends on the person. I've tried both of them and I've personally found the warrior to be slightly more helpful. It's really a matter of opinion though as it's pretty close. If you don't have a warrior than a proselyte helm will do just fine as a replacement. Concerning the axes, if you have your own axes your willing to drop, by all means go for it to avoid the detour to the bronze axe. But killing a bronze dragon for the bars and smithing some axes just seems a bit too annoying. I honestly can't stand bronze dragons because of the dogs around them. I'll add it though. As for the Zamorak Brews, I actually experimented with them while making the guide. Saying they are hard to find would be an understatement. Although they save inventory space by taking up one spot instead of two spots to raise strength and attack, the hitpoints lost while drinking them was enough to cut my time at the dragons because my hitpoints were getting too low for comfort. If I had ran out of prayer, I could have easily been killed before getting it back up again. They may be best for shorter trips, but this guide is intended for long ones, where drinking a bunch of doses of Zamorak Brews will really add up to a lot of damage on your hitpoints. I don't recommend using them, but if they work for you, be my guest. My level suggestions concerning prayer are just rough estimates. Numbers divisible by 5 and 10 please the human mind so I used them. I didn't mean them as "You MUST have this level before attempting this". I just meant that levels around those will be fine. If I put down numbers divisible by 4, I will get a bunch of people looking at me funny asking why I put such strange numbers in the recommended levels lol :P. But yes, you are right, numbers divisible by 4 would be best. Think I covered everything though. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll make a note to add them to the guide tomorrow. I've gotta get to sleep, early comes early :\
