  1. Might want to run some virus scans. :) Trend Micro - http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ AVG Free - http://free.grisoft.com And download HijackThis, which will help the pros analyze your computer. :) HijackThis: http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html (Scan, and click SAVE LOG. Do not fix anything by yourself )

  3. It's better to have a more respected site than one that's just simply big. :)
  4. Guns? I believe that would make it the first ever Sonic AO-rated game.
  5. I don't think it's really a problem if he deleted it. He'll just have to redownload it, and it should work again. :)
  6. Photography has always been one of my hobbies. I don't have a darkroom here though (unless I want to pay like $81 to use the one at the Craft Center).
  7. Is java enabled in your FF? Tools-> Options -> Web Features -> Enable Java/Javascript
  8. Well it's not like the bird had any idea what was going on. It's their fault for leaving the door/window open. If you really want to kill the bird, IMO I think you should resort to your fists and legs, not a gun. Guns are cheating.
  9. http://www.putfile.com is also a popular host. :)
  10. This is needed to download things off fileplanet.com. Without it, nothing will download.

    I'd <3 to have a penguin.
  15. I just started college in the beginning of October. :) I always thought everyone bought laptops for college, but that's not necessarily true. There's a high percentage of people who bring their desktops. They're faster, but not portable. :) My suggestion: I have a Dell Inspiron 700m-- it's Dell's smallest and lightest laptop. It has a 12 inch widescreen ("Whoa. That's a nice monitor" - my friend, Matt) and weighs 4 pounds. 1.8ghz, 512 RAM, 64mb intel gfx. Cost me about... $900. (My uncle got it off slickdeals) Dell Inspiron 700m at the Dell website I love it. It's small and lightweight, making it great to carry around. Since it's so light, I tend to take it around campus, to the library and the coffee house when I need to study. If it were heavier, then I probably wouldn't bring it with me so much. Pros: 1. Small and lightweight 2. Crisp graphics, nice screen Cons: 1. Keyboard is smaller than usual (but you'll get used to it) 2. Reflective screen (you'll notice your reflection when you're in a bright area) 3. Short battery life-- 2.5 hours (though you can upgrade it to 5 with a new battery, making it a bit heavier) I think laptops are better for college life. I bring my laptop to the library when I want to study (and my roommate does not ) and to class, where I can take notes. I'd get a laptop.
  16. I'm rooting for Finland. :)
  17. Thanks! Now it's back to normal. :D
  18. I'm not sure what happened. One day I pushed ctrl+alt+del, and it was missing a part of it. o.O Notice how there's no options at the top (file, edit, shutdown, etc)? I'm just wondering if anyone knew where it went and how I could recover it. (I erased my name, hope you all don't mind.) Thanks. :D
  19. I'm doing the exact same thing in my college chem class. I believe that is the answer, and I second it. :D

Here's some background info on embryonic stem cells: Stem cells are derived from eggs from a donor, who is informed and consents to do such a thing. Scientists fertilize and grow the eggs in-vitro, meaning that they grow it in a lab (petri dish). Within a few days, the fertilized egg grows into a blastocyst, meaning "a ball of cells". The stem cells come from blastocysts. (I've never worked with stem cells, so I don't know how the process works) We all have stem cells in our body, which are used to create new cells in your body (we have brain stem cells too!). These stem cells are found in our organs and tissues, and used by the body to repair itself. Though research has been done on it, there is still much work to be done on the subject. :) What differentiates embryonic stem cells and adult stem cells is the fact that the embryonic ones are pluripotent-- they seem to have the potential to become ANY TYPE of cell. Adult stem cells (most of them) are unipotent-- they are "programmed" to become one type of cell, and nothing else. Scientists have not fully figured out how these adult stem cells fully work. There's still a lot of research that needs to be done on them. ----------------------------- I am studying towards a biotechnology major, and I hope the restrictions on embryonic stem cells are lifted real soon. Other countries are already working with these cells, and we are quickly falling behind.. I see the potential of these stem cells and I hope I can one day work with them-- I just hope that day comes.

  24. Never download things from pop up ads. :) Get rid of this: O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NI.UWFX5_0001_N56M0311] "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\O5QFOD2Z\WinFixerScannerInstall[1][Caution: Executable File]" -nag Nothing else looks suspicious as far as I can see. I'm sure someone like Mercifull could help you out more than I can. :)
