Although you are right that the odds of the 101st flip being 1/2, the odds of getting tails 101 times in a row is (1/2)^101, or roughly 1 in 2535000000000000000000000000000. Same with dusties. As somebody already said, if the odds are 1/50,000, after killing 50000 of them, the odds of NOT getting one is (1-[1/50000])^50000, or (49999/50000)^50000. Either way, after 50K kills (assuming the drop rate is 1/50000), the odds of NOT getting a chain are 36.79%, making the odds OF getting one is 63.21%. But the figure I've heard most often is a 1/16000 chance. If those are the odds, then after 50K kills the odds of NOT getting one are (1-[1/16000])^50000, or (15999/16000)^50000, which equals 4.39%, or a 95.61% chance of getting one. That's because you're looking at it the wrong way round. there's no need for all the maths :P If you kill 50,000 dusties you have more chance of getting a d chain. But the point Leesters was trying to make is that you're not more likely to get a d chain from kill 50,001 than you are from kill #1

There's no doubt that socialising with people outside of a computer uses different skills that aren't 'ehnahced' by socialising on the Internet. But a couple of hours on the pc each day isn't going to kill all your irl friends, and it's better than watching tv for the same time like most of the people i know who aren't pc-orientated do.

I can get pretty bored doing things that require constant attention like quests, but if i'm wcing or whatever where i can watch tv etc while i'm going i can play for a fair few hours each day.

I don't pk myself; i'd feel pretty pathetic picking on lower leveled people for money, and i don't have the skills to challenge people bigger than me. Generally i don't complain about pkers. The wildy's a threat for a good reason, and if people want to earn that way i guess it's their choice. However, the idiots who PK me when i've clearly got nothing to offer really wind me up. Sheep Herder annoyed me for the first couple of minutes, and i thought it was going to turn out to be a horror quest, but I quickly got the hang of it and finished in no time :/ I say the Haunted Mine. When i saw the level of the last boss i assumed i'd have no problem, as i'd killed many things higher leveled before in the past. But the carts flying everywhere, axes coming in from all sides, and the guy teleporting around a crowded room made it a hell of a lot harder than i expected. One of the only quests i've actually died on :(

What i don't understand is why, if that's the opinion of the Editor(s), the article was allowed to run in the first place, and why it took so long to be taken down? Also, while only a minor complaint, i take issue with this sentence: I think that a fair few people on this thread have read this line and started moaning, but did you actually mean to say it? The rest of the article is, quite rightly, focused on editorials beingopen and honest about the facts. But I think it's wrong to suggest they should be devoid of an opinion that's one sided - that's why editorials are distinct from news reports. As Andrew explained, Jagex have a policy of not banning someone if they don't catch the name before they get their skills up a fair bit. Just because the Tip.It editor(s) are more concerned about ethics than the American gutter press that doesn't make their articles a joke.

Jagex policy is that if they don't catch the name early on they won't ban you (hense the few high ranked players with names some might find inappropriate). Not sure how strictly they stick to this, but i doubt they'd ban you at 93 cb.

Yep, if you cba with all the world hopping and don't care about the exp then it's a good tactic :) I'll stick to half/half filling my invent and picking up dstones as and when tho, i like the mage exp.

The cook's range means you burn less fish, but it DOESN'T give you more cooking exp per fish like someone suggested earlier.

Well i did Dragon Slayer when my defence got to 40 so i could wear full rune. I know for sure that my att and str were nowhere near this - probably nearer 20 each, so I couldn't melee it. I maged it with no problems at all. Talk to the duke in lumby for a sheild
