After Christianity: what will be the next big "Religion"?
Sly_Wizard replied to Eregion2's topic in Off-Topic
I'm going to say this as nicely as possible. NO! Where the unolly heck are people getting their info from? As a percentage of the world population, atheism peeked somewhere around the 1970s, and has pretty much plateaued (sp?) since then. Sure, there are more atheists today than there were yesterday, which you would expect with population growth, but there are not more atheists as a percentage of the total population today than there was thirty years ago. In fact, there are fewer. Seriously. im not saying that there r more atheists then christians etc. im saying that more and more ppl r becoming atheist. the number of atheists isnt decreasing... That's not what I said you said. I said that, contrary to popular belief, atheism isn't on the rise and you're going to be hard-pressed to find a statistic backing that claim up. Once again, as a percentage of the total population, atheism peeked in the 1970's when communism was at it's height (Mainly because most communist countries outright shunned religion, with Albania being an outright atheistic country). Since that time, atheism has been on the slow decline worldwide, minus most of Europe and small pockets of Oceania and the Western U.S.. Yes, as I stated prior, you'd expect there to be more atheists today than there were yesterday due to population growth, but as a percentage of the world population there are not more atheists today than there were yesterday-- There are fewer. Over the next 100 years, I'd expect that the religions with the biggest growth rates would be Islam, Sikhism, Hinduism and Christianity, due in part to the expected population booms in Asia and Africa. Unless there is some monumental global catastrophe the likes no one has ever seen, then Islam, Christianity and Hinduism will continue to be the "Big 3" for the next few hundred years. -

Islam. Given current growth rates, it'll be the world's largest religion by sometime in the 2020's, iirc. Of course, that's primarily due to population growth rates in the Middle East and Saharan nations, which is pretty much unsustainable for the next 20 years. So, feasibly, you'd expect Christianity to remain the largest religion until then, possibly until the mid 21'st century and possibly until the 22nd century. Really, no one knows what'll happen. Just don't be a Thomas Woolston. -
The lesson here: Don't be greedy. If you know something is too good to be true, it probably is. As I said in an earlier post, everyone and their mothers knew this was going to be nerfed. So why are people suddenly so surprised and up in arms when the nerf came? Furthermore, why should Jagex have provided you with adequate warning so you could take further advantage of something you KNEW would be later corrected? I really don't get it :?

No, it's not.

I laugh at the people who said atheism, considering it's been slowly declining as a percentage of the world population since peeking sometime in the 19970's. Anywho, to answer the question, Islam. It's the world's fastest growing religion. Really? Explain... Because it claims to be a think-for-yourself-philosophy instead of "owing your allegiance to a deity". Still in my eyes, I'd consider any philosophical rulebook you go by as your religion. It's like saying that white isn't a color. I don't think just taking "God" out of the equation should mean that it isn't religion - but that instead it just isn't worship. *Throws a book of Buddhism at you* Because, you know, Theravada Buddhism is the only school of Buddhism there is. -

Since this topic is already bumped... I didn't play RS for a couple of months. What happened to Zezima? lol -

I only read the title, but part of me lol'ed at the kid. -
Beat me to it. A heartbeat rate of sixty per minute is considered low. Fifty beats per minute is considered to be bradycardia. A person with a heartbeat rate of one per minute is, for all intents and purposes, in cardiac arrest as blood (And oxygen) aren't being pumped through the body. In short, she or he would die in a matter of minutes :|

I hope Jagex does one of two things: 1.) Nerf the claws or 2.) Give mage and range something comparable in total damage outcome in the same amount of time. Though, I'd prefer the first option.

Private chat is always on and the only people who I have blocked were those idiotic wanna-be' scammers on world 2 who tried to pass big bones off as dragon bones.

I'm fairly sure your body would simply shut down after a prolonged period of time (After a month or so). Either that, or you'd die from sleep deprivation, though I think that'd be unlikely.

Of course, I wasn't there, but I think this would qualify. *Watch at your own risk. Quite a lot of cursing* [hide=]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPRlPhz106E[/hide]

Meh. Not that much of the world speaks French. I would have figured Spanish would have been on Jagex's to-do-list.

Yes, they run out of food.

Tormented Demon Drop Changes - (04-December-2008)
Sly_Wizard replied to Red_Tanya's topic in General Discussion
In my estimation, the biggest reason the prices are dropping is because you get a FREE piece from the completion of the quest and not so much the drop rate. Surely, everyone had to know that the price would plummet given that everyone who does the quest automatically receives a piece whether or not they kill tormented demons or not? If you want proof, just look at the price disparity between the d-pieces and dragon claws. Sure, you could say that the reason d-claws are going up while d-pieces down is that everyone wants a pair of dragon claws, but I don't think that's the full story. I mean, the price of a dragon chain stayed fairly high (About 30m'ish though, at the time, it was the best chest armor in the game) even though anyone could kill the KQ. The same with a DFH (An upwards of 40m'ish before the PVP world update), which wasn't the best helmet in the game at its time of release. The same thing *should* have happened here with d-pieces. That is, they're price should have stayed high because they're a novelty item, only it didn't due to what I perceive as a serious oversight on Jagex's-- That error being freely giving out d-pieces to players who complete the quest. -
The True World Map? Post your findings! [Updated 2014]

I think it's changed now, but when you did the Temple of Ikov quest in the past, there was a section of the quest in which you could see the KBD's lair. -
Finders, keepers: RuneScape vs. real world ethics
Sly_Wizard replied to ixfd64's topic in General Discussion
Before the trade limit if someone died and they came back for their stuff, I'd always give it to them regardless of what the item was. If they never came back or messaged me then I'd keep it. I never cared about drop traders, so I wouldn't go out of my way to try to intercept their trades, either. -
Personally, I prefer swords and bows to guns and explosives, so I probably won't ever be playing MS.
-
The GE is still broken (Half of the prices on there aren't indicative of street prices) and PK'ing on PVP servers is broken (The drop system is messed up). Not to mention the fact that summoning rendered a couple of skills further into obsolescence. /Debbiedowner

I've only seen the 3 x 3 x 3 cubes. Where do you find a 20 x 20 x 20 cube from?
