Trippy as hell man, i'm listening to the live version of that song right now, and it is of course: Pantera - Walk

Off topic: Cantrell is a friggin legend!

I'm listening to their new album right now, 3 tracks in and so far i'm not impressed. I really don't like the tone of the guitar, and the keyboards sound un-necessary in some places. That's the problem with bands having a permanent keyboard player, they pretty much have to write parts just so the guy on keyboards has something to do. I don't mind keyboards as long as they enhance the song in some way, but on this album it seems like the keyboard parts are there just for the sake of giving the guy something to do. Maybe i'll check out some earlier stuff.

Possibly, but if it wasn't the gothic scene it would be another one. Like i said, people like that are gone in the head, if he'd chosen another "scene" he might have killed his family in the name of the pink fluffy bunnies from the planet happy - the point i'm making is that the outside factors (music, in this case) are null and void when the person being "affected" is obviously a crackpot anyway.

Oh, well I don't think that at all. Just that it has something to do with it. ATL, I just named two bands. Look up every song by both of those bands. I know there are others, so don't say "that's just one song by one band" Not necessarily. I listen to metal all the time, my movie collection is dominated by violent, twisted material, i play games that promote killing, stealing and severe violence, yet i've never been involved in any fights or crime in my life. People like this are screwed up to begin with, being into metal or dressing a certain way didn't have anything to do with it.

I hate English people with their big egos, that's all I know. (Sorry if your not from England.) I am from England, and that was a joke. Jesus, satire is lost here.
-
Exactly. All the ignorant people in this thread saying "omg the music made him do it" are no worse than the politicians and clueless parents who blame murders and theft on video games/movies. For the record, i know and interact with plenty of people who might be considered 'gothic', as well as plenty of people who are 'emo', and they're no different than anyone else if you're not so narrowminded that you can't see past the clothes they're wearing. This kid didn't kill his parents because he was a goth, he killed them because he's a [bleep]ing fruit loop. He just happens to wear dark clothing and, surprise surprise, people jump right on the bandwagon of "all goths are homicidal/suicidal maniacs". Idiots.

Pfff, everyone knows the universally understood language is English.

This thread is destined to be closed very soon. Practically every music related topic on this board ends up with people declaring their hate for a certain band or genre, i don't really see the point in having a thread which encourages people to act like idiots.

Godsmack, death metal? Are you taking the piss? I like godsmack, but they're not even close to death metal, and i have no idea why you're comparing them to bleeding through - a band who have a completely different style to godsmack.
-
Saw them back in May, supporting Still Remains and Trivium. Although their style isn't usually my thing, they're actually not bad.

First part is Tool - Schism Second part is another Tool song off Lateralus but i can't remember the name of it.

I've got this album, and it's a bit of a mixed bag. Some of the songs are great (basically the ones involving Rob Flynn or Max Cavalera), and some aren't so good, but overall i'd say it's worth a listen. What i liked more than the CD was the DVD that came with it showing the recording process, now that is definitely worth watching. Seeing the dude from Annihilator working out his solo was incredible, that guy can seriously shred. Oh, and i wouldn't judge the whole album by 'The End', which is quite obviously the single track to get people to buy the album.

You might have drunk a litre of clear liquid, but i doubt it was vodka. If it was, i very much doubt it was in a short space of time. A bottle of vodka is something like 30 units, which is about 10 units above the recommended weekly intake for an adult male. I don't consider myself to be a lightweight, but after about 12-14 shots i'd be pretty well oiled, and that's not even a third of a bottle. 3 Nights ago i shared a 1.5litre bottle of vodka with 3 other people, and we were all pretty hazy without even finishing the bottle.

Every day i turn on the news and see things more disgusting than any movie could possibly show.

Yeah Malmsteen's just about the speed really, he likes to show off. That's cool, but i'd rather listen to someone like Satch who plays with some feeling.

In the UK you can legally have (i think) 1.4 units of alchol in your system and still drive a car. This means that you have been drinking, but you're not drunk, or a 'drunkard'. In a nutshell, i think that's the point Despaxes has been tryin (in vain) to make. Drinking does not make you a drunkard any more than eating salad with a steak makes you a vegetarian.

Yeah, and he actually pulled off the whole thing the other night, sounded really good. Eruption is way overhyped. Some of it is kinda tricky, but I bet the guy can pull off better stuff than that, no? Yeah, definitely. Eruption sounds good but it's all just tapping, so by comparison to any decent metal/rock solo, it's really not that great. The sort of stuff he does that really impresses me are fast arpeggios and sweeps - i can't even begin to comprehend my fingers moving that fast along the fret board.

Seems like nothing but bad news lately. English news ran a story last night about a sexual assault on a 3 year old girl, i was nearly sick.

Why don't you just pm her?

I've been busy lately, don't check the forums so often anymore. I agree that drinking is a stupid thing to do, but only in excessive amounts. I just don't see how you can look down on people who drink (or smoke/curse for that matter), when, in my opinion, your self proclaimed arrogance is a far worse trait. I'm a non smoker, but i would never think less of someone purely because they smoke, and i would certainly never think i was above that person just because they have a cigarette in their mouth. You can't possibly think you're above someone you've never even met, just because they smoke, or drink, or curse.

It always amazes me how people can have such a terrible opinion about something they've never even tried. I don't drink to be cool, i passed all that highschool crap about 4 years ago, i drink because i enjoy it. Pretty simple really. Oh, and just so you all know, there's a difference between someone who drinks, and the type of people you see throwing up all over themselves in public. That difference is knowing your limits, and it's the reason why i have never puked in public, never got into a fight while drinking (or even while sober), never been arrested for drinking, never been to hospital for drinking, and never had to be carried home by anyone. Jesus man, you really make me laugh sometimes. What makes you think you're so special? You think you're mature for not drinking, but the idea behind alcohol having a legal age limit is that you are required to be mature in order to drink it. You need to step off your high horse before you fall off it, because "frankly", i've had better people than you ask me for change on the street.

I haven't really listened to a lot of drum solos, but for a quick solo the start of Davidian by Machinehead is pretty technical. Best drum solo i've seen live was Joey Jordison of Slipknot doing his spinning kit routine, or maybe when i saw Godsmack and they had 2 drum kits, the lead singer went on drums and they played a 3-4 minutes solo.

I heard something about some guy from a Swedish (or maybe Norwiegan) band who dug up a corpse and took the head to a fancy dress party. Not sure if that's true though.
