I see. What I meant was that nobody would keep duelling with somebody that has an advantage because of its gear (like I woudn't duel somebody with a rapier when I only have a whip, or like I wouldn't duel someobdy with maxed melees, when I'm 95 all). So yeah, it all comes down to luck, and who gets cleaned first? In that case you do have a huge advantage if you are richer, cause the poorer guy has to have way more wins to clean you than the other way around. This is assuming the poorer guy doesnt just walk away as soon as he made some decent profit.

I don't see the difference. Laws, you also have to bother walking to the altar. Actually laws are muc hworse, since you would get 8k worth of law runes opposed to 25k pure cash. Lastly, this running isn't meant for people like you, it's for newbies who are working for their first few millions.

So basically, those people who duelled for high stakes, both had a 50% chance to win? From what I get, there were fixed rules, and nobody would fight somebody with higher stats, you would have 2 armourless and weaponless people with 99 mage/def ice barraging each other. What makes you a good dueller then, when it all seems luck based (assuming both have max stats)

Actually, it seemed like in some clans the ranks were actually the ones who were dumped upon by the members. Those ranks were pro junk traders and that's how they got rid of it. Anyway, don't you guys think that even with the new system,the GE might be a little slow to catch up? Let's imagine some merch clan drives up the price of law talismans. The GE price goes up because the average price its being sold at goes up. When the dump occurs, and people don't sell the stuff very cheap in the GE, it won't fall instantly back to its price. If all members of the manipulation clan keep their items and try to get rid of them manually, they should have plenty of time to get rid of. The hard thing will be to get high street items to get rid of it.

Use barrows armour, as long as your magic bonus is over -10, you should be fine. Use rune arrows for ahrim, don't be afraid to use prayer pots too (and use protect prayers). You can try to bring dds and whip for karil, see how that works out (+ a super set perhaps, good for tunnels too).

I haven't tried sally + barrage, but I heard it's really good. Personally, I use void + rapier, or fire surge. With fire surge, and speccing ahrim/karil (dds specs should be fine, I use claws but mostly 2 specs are overkill + you don't have spec restores), you should be able to manage 6 min chests. I'd wear a combination of bandos and mage essentials (Arcane stream necklace, switch to fury for ahrim and karil and tunnels, fire cape, neit, etc... so you end up with around +10 magic bonus). I see you don't have turmoil and soul split which is a bummer. With these prayers, you can use no food all the time, now you will have to resort to guthan or all prayer. All prayer isnt that bad with ppots being so cheap. So yeah, I can't really help you that much cause my methods are out of reach for you :(

It's supposed to be 1/12. A week or two ago, the average barrow item was 1.89M, but this number has been going down since (check all barrows armour, it's crashing). I'd say it's about 1.5-1.6m now. Loot per chest should be about 40-50k in runes/racks iirc.

Any predictions about torstols? One could argue they will go down now deflation will be the new trend, however, the influx of all those old pkers should raise the demand too, right? And if Jagex decide oerloads to be accepted in the wild, I think it's safe to say we can expect prices to soar.

Purple is only 600-700m in ge, wow. So nearly all rares are doing bad. I wonder what items merchants will put their money in now? I mean, there's so much cash in rares, if merchants really decide to drop them, that's a LOT of cash that needs to go somewhere.

At Bandos, in decent gear, rapier and divine is slightly, slightly better than longsword and divine. If your gear is a little more welfare, it might go slightly in the other direction. Really, Bandos is insanely near the turning point between the two weapons without defender (with defender the rapier is markedly better). At Sara, longsword and divine wrecks rapier and divine. Longsword might also be slightly better than rapier with defender, but maul will wreck both in that case (there is no defense value at which either rapier and defender or maul won't be better than longsword and defender, barring slash weaknesses or crush/stab resistances). Nice point, people seem to forget this sometimes. Some people like to bring up the point that CLS is better than rapier at high defence bosses, because the extra accuracy makes up for the loss of 1 game tick (speed). Well, then maul would be better than longsword for the exact same reason... The only other factor that comes in, is the shield spot, and then we are at your point. Only if you really want to use that divine or DFS or whatever, you want to use a longsword over a maul.

Why don't get the best of the two world, and soul split + deflect flash? It's not that hard, and barrow isn't really the place to afk, so a bit more effort won't hurt. If you don't want to flash, I'd consider deflect because you are going with void. With bandos, I'd soul split for sure. As a general tip though, I would advice to just use soul split + deflect flash on most brothers, tilll you have comfortable hp (700+) and then just use deflect.

I would advice to do rocktail with pies and a yak. Not sure about the speed of cavefish. Also, do fish flingers, it's 17-18k xp in 15 min of work, with 10+ min of it being afkable.

For example, look at Jagex's financial reports released by me [The username, not myself :)]; though they are somewhat out of date (the latest being July 2009), they show a decline and resurgence around 07-09 (I know, membership hikes may have skewed that to some extent as well) that is not indicated by Google Trends. Perhaps people are more aware of Runescape and are visiting the site directly instead of searching for it, or are simply using other search engines (the rise in popularity of Bing could play a factor) when they are looking for Runesacpe. Unfortunately, there are currently no good traffic markers out for us to judge Runescape's popularity by. The most reliable figures we have are direct quotes on membership and account numbers from Jagex themselves, but they tend to be few and far between. Most web stats, from Alexa to Ranking.com, are highly inaccurate; they generally sample only a small fraction of the population (In Alexa's case, only the people with toolbars installed) and reflect web trends as a whole - Alexa reports in percentages relative to overall internet traffic, meaning that a stead value actually represents a growth rate equal to the rest of the internet. But yes, I would agree that Runescape's popularity does seem to be waning slightly. The most likely causes are the increasing numbers of bots (seen frequently in my own playing) and a sense of increasing disconnect between players and the company. Bringing the wilderness back may be a good idea, although the poll seems to stray a bit into 'publicity event' areas, but it seems to be generating a considerable amount of interest and will potentially re-introduce many players to the game (and their friends along with them). Still, I don't think Jagex is in any serious difficulties yet - subscriber numbers are still very high, and as several financial statements show, they have plenty of spare cash and major revenue sources. I also suspect that, as a pet project of the Growers, the company will remain even if profits take a serious hit. In short, though we don't really know, it is indeed possible that membership is declining. Still, it's not really something to worry about; RS has many years ahead of it unless Jagex manages to severely mess up major aspects of the game, and they seem to be actively working to improve it (Dungeneering is a good example) in ways that will reverse the trend and increase its popularity. Phas won't be as high as their value + 50% of the junk they get sold with. Part of the reason they are so high is because of their unbuyable status. I don't see a blue over 2B when free trades comes out. Purple will probably be like 600-700m, not higher, I think.

Hmm interesting aspect. Some of these clan manipulators are really rich. What are they going to focus on now? You also have to consider nearly all of the junk trading involved rares to get rid of the junk. After free trade, rares will no longer serve that purpose so they might become less wanted for some people. As you can see, it can really go both sides it seems, just go to find out which side :-)

Yeah, cause there will be a significant impact most probably. Lower rares already crashed.

I would keep hunting common untill 78 hunter. They're pretty good xp, and seeds will eventually come in. After that, do igneous + carrion, or draconics with regular hunter pots. For more info, check the AOW for the guide on herblore habitat.

What are peoples view on pk'ing items? I'm talking about claws, whips, barrows armour, dark bows, etc... At first, you would think they'll go up, but if you look long term, none of these items would get lost in the new system. I would think they would rise when nearing 14 january, but will fall long term after the introduction of the wild and free trade. Right now, however, it seems people are not trusting it, and they don't seem to be going up.

Damn, why did I buy those 2 santas hoping for some long term profit :(. I don't see any logical reason for them to crash really.

I prefer to be alone at dark beasts, so I can afk them. Greaters are a pain IMO if you aren't alone, but I skip them now. I can also imagine blue drags beinga problem with 2 maxed people. I personally use 3 spawns.

I don't think so. The GE can still keep working like it does, but the 5% limits will be gone. A whip for instance would still have a med price of 3.4M, but people would be allowed to pay 4M or whatever they want for one. The med price would update every day based on the trades that took place, just like it does now.
