  1. It would be cool if everyone posted their locations and then someone put red dots on the map in paint so we could see where we all are. Although, that requires lots of posts that spam this topic, and someone to do it (I'm busy with school stuff). What we need is a WoL subforum so that we can split this chat into things like: Money Training Where are you located? ETC.
  2. I had the same problem. It still says the owner is Or Trade Me, but in chat it had the name like Killandoo. I went to class for 2 hours, logged back on and it's fixed. So maybe it'll fix for you too.
  3. As said on the last page, my Jagex name is Or Trade Me but it wouldn't let me rename myself when creating my player. So I am Killdaree. Is there a way to change this?
  4. OK, so I logged on with my Jagex name, and when making my character, it wouldn't let me change his name. So now in chats and stuff my name is Killdaree. HOW DO I FIX THIS? I hate the name!!!!
  5. So, what are everyones tactics to starting? So far I have concentrated on resource gathering and city production. I haven't even started my army (except the initial 100 for the task which I promptly lost to a lvl 2 forest). I have one level 10 and one level 8 of each of the production plots in the outskirts which are making me plenty of supplies to grow my city. Does anyone think that being a 'tank' will work where I just build up my wall and don't bother with an army?
  6. Does anyone know whether or not any of the 'big' merchants even have a lot of eatables? It seems to me that they would do much like what manip cc's do. Buy up a stock, get the price to rise and then get rid of the items before it gets too risky and then let the noobs duke it out trying to suck every last GP out of passing the items around before the inevitable crash. If most of these big hoarders don't have large stocks, then the crash will be much more violent then the one we saw this past summer where it just leveled off in the GE. I also see these eatables as a blessing to the rest of items. With people sinking hundreds of M into them, they don't have that money to spend on things like extra placeholders etc. Keeping the effects of hyperinflation less then what they would otherwise. I would much rather have some noob spend 200M on an egg to sit in the bank to 'gain' value then have him spend that money on iron ore and wait for it to rise.
  7. Exactly my thoughts. They likely just called the local police and said "I'm from Jagex LTD, and a player from your region has stated in game that he was going to hang himself. Even though this is most likely nothing more then misguided childish outburts, we thought it to be in the best intrest of both the player and the online community that this claim should be investigated." Then the police would go get some DNA evidence (CSI says they do it so it must be true) and then go to the players house to give him a firm smack.
  8. What have you done so far to get so high? I keep running out of resources. PS -> There was some HYT spam floating around World Chat but I can't seem to talk so.......HYT
  9. Right under the "Create a Free Account" it says "Already have a Jagex username? Click Here." You can use the same username as you have in RS or FO. So, that loser who took your name would be you ;)
  10. So, I changed my flag and got 5 horns, talked in Global Chat for a bit, then it said I needed more horns....If they expect me to collect 1 horn for each line I want to say they must be kidding. I have played these games before and don't mind them because it gives me something to do while I grind away at that essay. I won't be buying anything though. PS -> You can log onto WoL and Runescape on the same account (unlike FunOrb) at the same time.
  11. It won't let me talk until I find or BUY a horn. Where do I get one?
  12. most enjoyable skill: I actually enjoy FM (not grinding for hours on end, just a bit here and there) least enjoyable skill: Fletching easiest skill: Fletching is far too easy hardest skill: Slayer, just based on needing to travel so far, so often for 20k exp/hour most money producing skill: RC, or mining if you decide to do rune from 85-99 most prestigious skill: Mining most pointless/worthless skill: They all have their own place in the game. None are really 'out of place' or worthless.
  13. I don't see anyone taking the leaders' side. But what we are saying is that because it doen't affect Jagex's bottom line, they won't do anything about it. What they are doing is so borderline scamming that unless they outright admit that they are scamming players, Jagex won't do much.
  14. PC - Check Name intended to be offensive to players - Check Using angry words when something doesn't go 100% right - Check Asking jagex to make the game easier because of your mistake - Check Posting another useless PC thread like your last one - Check Looks to me like we found ourselves a stereotypical PKer folks! OK, enough of that, but back on topic now. Jagex can't cater to every person who makes a mistake. Simple as that. Something I might suggest is not playing for 9 hours straight. It's not really healthy and nothing good ever comes from nolifing. You accidently choosing another helm is proof that 9 hours of a computer screen can cause mistakes. This would be better put in the Rants forum.
  15. So using this and assuming easters are 200M ea (can be more depending on junk) then it seems the street price for these phats are: Purple = 425M Green = 625M So to buy either of these hats you will either need that much in street value of items, or that much cash, but people are rarely willing to accept cash so if you want to buy with pure cash you will need a good amount extra just to even get people to consider your offer.
  16. That initial spike may have been due to merchants, but the overall price rise is NOT. If it were only merchants doing this, the price would have dropped right back down again. Iron ore is produced in too high a quantity for its price to be held up indefinitely by merchants. Which is why I said this: I agree that merchants are not the ones who are responsible for inflation, but they certainly play a key roll in starting the inflation of items (alot of the time). The over abundance of GP in the game acts like a catalyst, where it just speeds up inflation.
  17. They may not be the primary cause, but they are certainly the spark that starts it. Several months ago, people with 100's of Mills would be more then fine with having a large cash pile. But then something like this happens: Where a clan hit an item that was stable from the time I started playing (Around the start of RS2). Then people see that their GP would be better served if it's put into a seemingly stable item. It is guarenteed to 'never' fall, and there is a chance that a clan hits it. This hoarding of items for a long term is what is causing the inflation. It's fueled by PVP GP rewards and sparked by clans. EDIT: I created this graph in November, since then iron ore has been hovering around 200 GP each. So that 'presumed stable' price could be bumped up to there.
  18. The old legend I heard was that Jagex put that there after The Old Nite passed away as a memoir to all those Runescapers who have passed away. Probably just a legend, but it's nice to think that Jagex cares that much.
  19. These clans prey on the uneducated middle class of RS. The ones with a couple M sitting in their banks but not smart enough to know what to do with it. A lot of the time after these clan leaders dump, they claim that a minor rank or unranked player predumped and it wasn't their fault. Then they make the claim that the next merch will work. So these people accept the loss and trust that they'll make it back next time.
  20. Well, that's fairly hard to tell. Because even after updates that we thought should have crashed the market (prayer or herby updates) rares stayed strong. Instead of selling off thier rares for the much desired raw materials, merchants just traded their hats for those rising, in demand item or waited until the items fell back before buying them. So I'm assuming that in the early days of the new skill hoarders will trade their rares directly for these desired items. But as we see rares rise in the GE closer to thier street prices, more and more people will just choose to sell the rare in the GE instead of bothering with junk trades or downgrading and having to get rid of multiple rares. Then the price will be on the verge of crashing and it will only take a few key hoarders to crash the market to at least equal to the GE price.
  21. I would laugh if the new skill turned out to be a redux of Hunter where no money is required to train it. If that is the case, then the skill will need some sort of money sink (like red chins with hunter). The ecconomy is in ruins and we really need some sort of sink to rebalance it. I don't mind that rares are shooting up super high from all the GP people now have (ok, a little peeved I can't get a phat but oh well), but nearly EVERYTHING has risen far too high. I miss the good ol' days of iron ore at 100 gp each. Although, even if there is no sink in the new skill, it more then likely will come with new items which should help redistribute the wealth throughout the population a little better. I sure hope there are new items that low levels can easily gather, but high levels can't be bothered to gather but are willing to throw large sums of cash towards.
  22. I don't really know if this is enough, but it seems to me just by talking to players ingame that yellow looks better and people want it more. Remember, that other then merchanters and hoarders, the only reason to buy a partyhat is for the looks. If more people like yellow then green, the demand will be higher. Even if the supply is higher then green, if the demand is significantly higher then greens then they will be higher priced. Along with this is a positive feedback mechanism. Yellow started higher then green thus more people tried to buy them, pushing the price higher. Then more people try to get them. And so on. Good ol' snowball effect. Also, have any of the rares shifted significantly in price since the last time somone wrote up a price list?
  23. familiar friends, neighbors, or relatives <kith and kin> Do we know of any places / peoples close to one another that are on the verge of war? Or it could mean that they are set to fight along each other against a common foe (if so it is likely a gang brawl VS Lucien).
  24. Have you tried trading the level 3 bot RIGHT after the 66 does? I used to do that to the yew cutter bots when they transfered things to selling accounts. You need to be quick but if you do then you can see what they put up on their side. That is assuming the lvl 3 bot clicks the trade offer and not the actual player. I actually made like 3M doing that trick to yew bots before the trade limits. (I asked a J Mod and they said it was fine because I was profiting off the macros 'stupidity') Also, are these bots on for long periods of time? I would love to go mess with them myself (yes I miss the old days of bot luring) What world are they on? And can I get there without a quest?
  25. The main problem that I see in Jagex's handling of this is that even though they say that auto talkers are against the rules, they don't really do anything proactive about it. With their current systems it can take weeks even months to ban convicted autoers. There is one auto talker on my (old) homeworld that I have reported evertime I saw it for weeks. Still there. And this auto is one of those that goes for litterally 24 hours per day. I have asked Jagex if they plan on setting up some sort of auto mute system where the system mutes you if you say over XXXX amounts of words in an hour or say the same lines XXXX amount of times in an hour without a mistake (or the same mistake). They said that they don't need such a system because the ingame auto spam isn't that big of an issue. That's what really grinds my gears...the fact that Jagex doesn't see auto spam as a big issue. It is clearly the number 1 way in which clans recruit. Without that, most of the clans would cease to exist. It seems (in F2P at least) that the clans with the most auto talkers are the ones that get the most people and thus manipulate the prices higher. Ever since PVP cash rewards all of the 'average Joes' seem to have at least a couple mill. All it takes is one 76k trick to make up to 5M. Then these players see other clans auto spamming so they set up their own bots to make their own manipulation clan. These type of clans are the worst for scamming players. The leader knows that the clan won't last long so they make no effort to avoid mass losses for the clan members. That was kinda all over the place, but that's just what came to mind when reading this topic.
