Triple Charms
Simple question. What monster is best to use triple charm bonus from familiarization on? The first time I used it I cannoned Aberrant Spectres and got ~120 charms in the 40 mins, and 37 of those were blue. Are there any better monsters? I'm only really going to get 70 summ so I don't have much use for crazy amounts of crims. And I prefer not to be told the ever popular 'do waterfiends' because I'm a noob and I don't want to bother getting a Z spear just for that.

I was scrolling through some of the comments on youtube and one guys said something on the lines of: Lol, silly people thought they could keep something SO HUGE underwraps. There was no way that it would have gone on for any long period of time because even if the abusers each only told 2 of their good friends about it, that eventually spreads far enough until Jagex catches wind of it. Players managed to keep the blood rune glitch under wraps for quite a while before Jagex found out. By then the damage was already done. But Jagex caught this one within 2 days of it becoming 'public'. For all we know it could have been going on for months but no one really abused it to the extent it was this week. So the damage won't be as bad as blood runes crashing, but I would still say significant.

What makes you say that a new F2P boss HAS to be tied to a quest or new skill? Sure, it could happen, but it's not "True". It's just one option. I seem to remember hearing that P2P would be getting a sort of 'master' dungeon with new bosses (think I heard it like a year ago so idk if its still in the plans). So if they're planning on making P2P bosses and F2P bosses, wouldn't it make sense to put them in the same spot? The could put this new dungeon anywhere (just stick a hole in the ground - takes up 4 'squares') or, they could make an entirely new area to make it even more epic. The second option sounds more like [the new] Jagex to me. Jagex has also said that you won't need any other skills in order to train the new one. So if it is some sort of instanced dungeon skill, then where do you get exp? Killing monsters needs combat levels. "Congratulations, you advanced a Dungeon Skill Level. You can now walk four steps farther into the dungeon."

How much does a bolt alch for? I dont think they will drop this low that alching would become a viable option. He's talking about onyx bolts I believe which alch for 9k each. If people were able to take 1 bolt and turn it into 12, that means they introduced 99k per dupe. People could do litterally thousands per hour. I think a good estimate is 10k/hour because at 7k ea people made 60M/hour profit (see the vid). So at 10k bolts per hour * 9k per bolt = 90M PURE GP introduced into the game PER HOUR. That is far more then the PVP tricking. Sure, not as many people could do onyx bolts as could trick, but the fact still remains that it introduced loads of GP into the game.

Why should people use two different sets of values for real life and in-game? That's what I just can't grasp...Sure, its just pixils. But in real life, someone is just flesh. What makes these pixils or flesh have 'life' is the mind behind it. As for your last comment, I sure hope you didn't tie those last 2 sentances together and aimed them at me. Because I have been very outspoken against manipulation and have taken down more then enough clans....but thats a different conversation for another time. I'm not trying to act high and mighty, what I'm trying to say is that I don't have seperate morals for real life and Runescape. I believe that all people should be judged on their words and actions. If you are nice to me, then thank you. But if you abuse a bug in order to gain massive amounts of GP and know that you are harming others in the process, then sorry but to me, that is the true sign of a jerk.

You know, I used to think you were a pretty good person from what I had seen on Tif, but after that comment....wow...... If you have such a disregard for others (be it in-game or in real life) then there is no way you can call yourself a good person. Sure, you can argue that this is a game, and it's not real. But you have to remember that there are real people behind the pixils whom you are effecting. If you think that you can just log on and leave your morals and ethics at the door then, sorry, but you should not be playing the game. People routinly say that the Runescape community is going downhill and how there are so many noobs arround. Well this is why. Because people believe that since they are behind a screen that they can go around doing whatever they want to whomever they want. Your true morals are not shown under the fear of prosecution, rather they are shown when you have the power to do anything without any real consequences. If you could steal in real life without being prosecuted, would you?

3rd Age/Spirit shields/Phats Discussion
The end of free trade and (serious attempt at) RWT saw a LOT of resources and items being dumped into the market. So through 2008 there was a major defaltion. Since then, the market has rebounded normally and has been inflating for quite a while (inflation is normal in a healthy economy). The problem comes with Jagex's implimentation of pure GP rewards into PVP combat. They also reveiled how the system works so there were many people doing what they call '76k-ing' where a person would die holding 76k and the person who killed them got anywhere from 5k-5M. This massive influx of GP into the game without anything leaving caused what players have called 'hyperinflation'. I think over the course of 5 months prices of general things like logs, ores etc jumped up by 50-70%. The items hit the hardest were the discontinued items which people have hoarded since they were introduced, but more people with enough GP to hoard, the more left the 'active' economy to be stashed away in players' banks. There are known to be several players with over 1000 santa hats each, that's how bad hoarding has become. So yes, even with minor crashes when hoarders sell off some of their stocks the general trend is up...up....and AWAY! Yes, this too. Take the price of oil IRL as an example. Even though it's becoming more rare and would keep rising, it wouldn't be as bad as it is. The reson it went up so high (this past summer) was because the value of the US$ dropped. Thus it takes more $ to buy the same amount of gas.

new lands?
Jagex has all but confirmed that there will be a F2P boss...maybe they have already confirmed it... Either way, it will be something good for F2P but I'm sure Jagex will make it fair for F2P but not able to be overused in P2P. Maybe something like a team fightcaves with a boss like Jad at the end. But the cave looks different in members then in F2P. Like, first wave in F2P is lvl 40 skeletons and in P2P its lvl 80 skeles... Judging by it's location in the wilderness I think it will be F2P as well. Because if it was P2P I think Jagex would have put it deeper into the wildy, more like the deep wilderness....slightly secluded from F2P.

It would be nice, if very imporbable, that they are vocal about the rectification of this issue. I think that Jagex is focusing more on finding the abusers then having the equivilent of a press conference about it. Remember, it took several days for Jagex to post about the penguin glitch. What they were trying to do is keep the fact that they fixed it very hush-hush in order to catch anyone who tried to do it again. As soon as they release news about it, anyone who was doing it will stop and go into hibernation mode trying to evade the censors jagex will use to find them or even try dropping the bolts to get rid of the physical evidence. Remember, Jagex isn't limited to seeing if you have or have sold the bolts in the last few days. They can track every movement that you do. I think that Jagex should be able to track these people just by looking at the spells that players have casted in the last 3 days. Anyone who cast that specific spell is then put through the whole screening proccess to find whether or not they did the specific tasks leading up to the spell being cast.

Check out the topic like 2 under this one. In short, people were able to turn 1 dbolt into 12 enchanted dbolts. People were making 60M+ per hour worth and I hear of people with many B worth. Jagex is going into banhammer mode atm so if those abusers bought rares with the GP then those rares are going to leave the game.

From what i hear, it was discovered 2 days ago and became well known yesterday. So it lasted 24 hours being mass abused. Yes it was super fast and super easy to do. I have read some topics about this and I heard of several players with over 1B worth of enchanted bolts that they made. I can see Jagex doing quite well as far as the banning go (heard of someone banned already who only made 2m worth). The question still remains, will Jagex intervene in the price of the enchanted bolts? Or will they just let the crash take it's course? With the main perpetrators banned the millions of bolts won't make it into the GE so the crash won't be too far. No one knows yet if the glitch was there pre-update or if the update somehow caused it. I suspect it's been there for a long time but the recent dropping of dbolts by the new implings spurred some hunters to enchant their bolts and then they found it through that.

Well, that's all very happy news. Upgrading the purple is probably my best bet investment-wise, no doubt, although I have my reservations because I like the color. (Silly, I know.) Say I wanted to parlay my disk into an Elysian spirit shield plus whatever else I could get for it, is that feasible? I'm not sure how I'd accomplish it, what with these trade limits they have now. Regardless, thanks for the assistance. What other sort of items / GP do you have in your bank that's worth a significant amount? Because unless you have a couple hundred M worth of items or GP in your bank I don't see getting an Ely SS being feasible for the sole reason of the need to balance the trade. I saw a Ely sold for disk + cash on the RSOF but unless you have 390M GP sitting around to balance the trade, it's not really worth it. If you did sell your phat for market price, then you could be close to enought Pure GP to balance the trade, but I know that you wanted to keep it.

wait .. what ?! mysterious =/= ancient This is just my speculation...I figured there was enough of that here that I didn't have to say that.

3rd Age/Spirit shields/Phats Discussion
I would think that a good chunk of them would land in the banks of hoarders never to see the light of day again (they didn't get alot of time being free of that cold dark place). The street price may take a decent dive, but no where near a complete crash.

new lands?
If it is related to the new skill, couldn't it be archeology? Mysterious power is some sort of ancient power and now the Freminik are battleing the power. Archeology could include running all over the world to digsites etc. Ocasionally you find a cavern where you can enter and fight undead ancient foes for their rewards. This could fit with other skills (WC - chopping up roots in your way, mining - obvious, even finding ancient pots and learning to make new crafting items). You could even include randomly generated senerios by having different locations / shapes / creatures in the caverns. All I know is that the Freminik at the gate said that their brothers are fighting off the ancient power so it is more then likely somewhat combat related.

Looking through the RSOF I found that eggs are going for ~300M each. 1 disk is frequently traded for 2 eggs. That gives your disk a street price of ~600M. What I suggest you do, is use your disk to upgrade your phat. In return they add cash to balance the trade. I don't have a very in depth knowledge of that Phat market, but with 600M plus a purple you should be able to get a red. Then they will need to add ~12M GP to their side to balance the trade. This wouldn't be as much GP as you would get by selling it on the GE (54M) but the upgraded phat is well worth it. Alternitivly you could upgrade to a yellow or green and get slightly more pure GP out of the trade from balancing (~40m). Green and yellow are close to the same GE price buy yellow is higher in street price so that is better trade in my opinion. OR, if you really need the GP you could sell it for market price to a helpfull tif'er who did all of this research for you? Either way, if you are going to upgrade for anything less then a red, try posting here first because I'm sure there are some tif'ers who would love to get the couple hundred M you would essentially be giving them. Preferably trade to a person who is a tif'er because most of the people on the RSOF are hoarders who already have tons. EDIT: I just saw a thread on the RSOF of someone buying a red for a disk and some minor rares that would be slightly less then the street price of a purple phat. So if you are going to try to get a red, I'd say you shouldn't have too much trouble getting it.

I got that message saying that I needed to delete folder etc....I just scrolled down and there was a world list there. The only problem is that I'm forced to play on safe mode, and every time I load the game, it has to reload everything. I figured this out pretty quick so got some fast offers in the GE for the implings but didn't know what the clothing was called so I didn't get offers in for it.

Not as far as I can see. A quick search of the RSOF shows someone whos paying med price for some, one guy is offering med +1M and the chart shows that it's pretty stable. It could rise if another clan hits them, but as of right now they are no higher street then GE.

Item Flipping
So long as there are lazy people who are willing to pay a convenience fee, there will be people accepting these fees. Sure, in a perfect world where no one was despirate enough to put in an offer at max in order to get an item ASAP, then I would see flipping as 'scamming'. But when people stick offers in for max in order to get the items right away, they are essentially saying "the time I am saving is worth the potential GP I am losing from this transaction." Then I think "if you want to save time, why wouldn't I take that time and save you the effort but charge you for it?". In a supply and demand economy, you will always have slightly inflated prices when you 'demand' a good or service ASAP.
-
Item Flipping
Sure, some people lose out on 100k, but I don't see this as 'scamming'. People sell for lower prices when they need the money and they buy for high when they need the item. Flippers meerly charge these people a few percent convenience fee. If you want something here and now, then you should be prepared to pay a small fee for that. That's why convenience stores in real life cost so much. They do the work in getting the goods and services there at all hours of the day, you shouldn't complain when youhave to pay an extra couple %. When I was buying a SGS for slaying I knew that I wouldn't need it for several days because I was skilling. So I put the offer in for med -2%. It took 3 days for it to come in but since I didn't need it at that moment, I was OK with the extra time it took because I knew I was getting it at a good price. I could have just as easily put my offer into the GE for med +2% and gotten the SGS right away (probably from a flipper) and paid the convenience fee.
-
Item Flipping
Item flipping is the purest form of merchanting in my opinion. The concept of merchanting is not based from hoarding items and then forcing the price up, rather, it is based off of charging people a 'convenience fee'. In the days pre-GE, sure, you could go world hopping to buy gems off of miners, or you could go to W1 or W2 and buy gems from someone who has already done that for you and in doing so, pay an extra 10%. Similarily, now you could put an offer in the GE for an item at med and wait for hours, maybe days to get the item, or you could pay the med price + 2-3% from someone who has invested that time into buying the item. That is the true spirit of merchanting. I find it say how people no longer are content with 2-3% profits and move into hoarding and manipulation. Flip merchanting works to stabalize prices when done properly. Buying as it dips in price makes it rise and then selling as it rises makes it dip.

1500+ worlds? IN F2P?!
This entire topic is just reenforcing why I like F2P more then P2P. Whenever F2P asks for something (most of the time it's super small), P2Pers go into elitist mode and start saying 'Pay $5 is you want something". Yes, we understand that you pay and therefore should get more, but when jagex gives a world to F2P, F2Pers should at least be able to play on it. F2P is not asking for a F2P only world, rather, they're asking for a world that you can only use F2P levels towards. Why should the fact that you got 99 herblore give you an advantage in F2P? Faster levling techniques in P2P for F2P skills should be advantage enough. Before people start flaming me for being a F2P noob, I am currently (and have been in the past) a member. P2P is no more mature then F2P. In F2P you have level 10 newbs begging for 5k gp whereas in P2P you have level 90 noobs begging for a GS lend. F2P is just where P2Pers have their throwaway accs that they don't bother acting maturly. I have heard it time and time again, "I dont care if this acc gets banned because I have a member acc". F2P wants something small = P2P says F2P doesn't deserve it P2P gets something pretty decent = P2P demands more Who's more mature?

Fire cape compromise. New post by Mod Chris L.
I don't like it that Jagex listens to the whiners but I see some peoples points that getting firecape with bad internet is very hard. What I think they should have done, is made fire equipment available to be 'enchanted' by slayer masters to be used against ice wyrms. 100 points + ring of fire = blocks 10% of hits 200 points + fire gloves = 25% block 400 points + adze = 50% block + 25% higher hits (since you're whacking ice with fire) firecape = 50% block Then to balance this, make ice wyrms hit higher and through prayer 50% of the time (same as PVP). That way, it's still better to use a firecape but you can kill them without it. It would also keep the 'minigame requirement' on the task since you're forced to do Beakon Lighting which doesn't require lightning fast reflexes. It might even add a little use to firemaking. But I guess Jagex has made up their minds and this suggestion is far too late.
