Obtaurian
EDIT: QFC 15-16-935-60415243, by Mod Chris L. Hey all, We've been closely monitoring feedback and opinions on the Strykewyrm update. Obviously, the main point of focus has been the fire cape requirement for the Ice strykewyrms. As previously mentioned, we have now hopefully found an agreeable compromise. Most importantly, we'd like to make it clear that this is only being done to recognise and support those who truly cannot defeat TzTok-Jad due to the reflex times required and other similar factors. The proposed changes are: -Players who do not have a fire cape can purchase an ability from the Slayer masters using the Slayer points. When bought, this ability will then make Ice Strykewyrms a possible assignment without the need for a fire cape. With the above, we now have 2 types of players, those who are fighting Ice strykewyrms with the fire cape, and those without. This leads to the following: -If you are fighting Ice strykewyrms and are NOT wearing the fire cape (have bought the ability), the combat difficultly fighting the Ice strykewyrms will be equal to what is currently in the live game, with the one exception that the Ice strykewyrm's max hit maybe a point or two higher (you can still use protect prayers against them though). -If you are fighting Ice strykewyrms and ARE wearing the fire cape, they will not inflict any more damage to you than they do already. Further to this, in a similar way to the Ferocious ring, every attack you do whilst wearing the fire cape (as long as it hits) will do +4 damage. Hopefully this is agreeable, as those without the firecape get the gameplay that is currently live. Those with the firecape not only save the slayer points, but still have a reward for the effort it took to get the cape in that they can do more damage (and hence decrease NPC kill times). Hopefully this also provides an incentive to get the cape in the future for those who were considering it. I'll hence be implementing the above, along with two other small abilities we have seen requested from general feedback. Whilst I can't say when you'll be seeing these, I'll be trying to get them to you as soon as possible. Many thanks for your patience and understanding in this matter. -Chris 15-16-4-60409648, page 12, by Mod Emilee: Torture over. Nearly. In regards to your question, it will be...option 4. We're not doing any of the options given in the first post, although a compromise will be made. Once everything is agreed to and confirmed tomorrow, we'll be able to give you more details. I'm not sure whether I should have written this as I'm not a big fan of speculation, however, we thought it would be good to give you a heads up. Since this post, more and more slayers who actually appreciate the fire cape requirement are starting to post on the RSOF. I'm hoping that the compromise is something hilarious, such as ice wyrms requiring an inferno adze . . . with melee. To put it bluntly, [bleep] off. krimi
I would like to see Ampharaos's suggestion that fire cape wielders hit double on ice strykewyrms be implemented. This compromise better not be something that undermines getting a fire cape by just buying a deteriorating cape.

Cheefoo
Probably that you can still get the task without a firecape, but you can save it for later, until you have one. Probably something that nobody will like, honestly. I can care less either way, I don't even have 93 slayer. Those that are content with the food they have don't open their mouths. You can't expect people to go on the forums after every update, give Jagex a pat on the back and say "please don't change it". Jagex should have the courage of their convictions to ignore the minority of whingers and not dilute an update that was fine to begin with. Maximusa
Think they should make the compromise the firemaking cape. That way those who people who cannot kill jad just have to make a million fires instead. Hopefully thats easier for them as a laggy connection shouldnt interfere getting 99 in that skill too badly. However..for the sake of killing those..thats a very difficult road to go down. Seriously I hope they dont make it something less than that. I dont mind the melee inferno adze just aslongs as it is melee required and cannot use a cannon either lol. I personally rather hit normal without others being able to get the task than hitting higher.. I mean seriously I can hit over 50's with a whip and magic is even higher. Becomes overkill. Perhaps very bad accuracy or something. Many 0's. The best idea I can think of is taking damage if you arnt wearing one. However feel free to gobble up food to kill them ontop of their freezing and digging attack thing etc. VMeh BlogV >Miscellaneous Goals< http://www.rsbandb.com/sigs/sig108/bazzaminxer.png

I hate to say it, but Demby is right. It's becoming more and more necessary for the silent and appeased majority to become the loud and appeased majority. I would highly recommend that any Tip.iter who would prefer the update to remain unchanged to immediately start posting on every thread in the RSOF. A few of us are already (or have been) doing it. Ezkaton
Don't worry denby, I'm currently writing a reply for that thread and will be putting it across any I find. I don't care what people think on here, but this is my personal feelings and therefore my reply to the thread: "I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT BELIEVE THIS! :o I AM OUTRAGED AND UTTERLY DISGUSTED AND DISAPPOINTED IN JAGEX :@ Jagex you have once again given in to the whiners and the whingers of the game that actually do make up the majority. So far, from everything you have done this year, it seems only correct to quote Aneron from Tip.it: "heaven forbid you have to do something that takes just an ounce of skill to access content in this game". The only thing that seems to have stayed the same is the difficulty of Nomad; however I wouldn't hold my breath too long for fear of passing out. I am utterly appalled that you would do this..... On something that has given such good feedback! EVERYONE on TIF has praised you for the high level slayer update. Yes the first few days caused murmurs because of the fire cape achievement; but then it dawned on people. Those who have 93 slayer.... Surely to God by then SHOULD be able to kill Jad..... Even make a mockery out of him. Jagex; you should have the courage of your convictions to ignore the minority or majority of whingers (whichever it is) and not dilute an update that was fine to begin with. This is an upsetting and depressing day. You are going to make a good piece of content just to ruin it? Then I ask myself why should I bother getting myself high skills, or doing things in the game that you need skill for? Sooner or later you're going to do something like this and make that achievement no longer worth while. It took me my first try for my fire cape at 85 defence, 70 range and 70 prayer..... I think that any level 93 slayer should atleast have those stats, and therefore should atleast have an equal chance as I to get past Jad. Heck, all I wanted to do was kill a ket zek for my Karamja Diary. You truly make this rookie sad. Why should I train slayer now? You'll just make the ice wyrms lower because not as many people can access them and they'll whinge about it? I expected better. I... I am speechless and disillusioned." I then put this because I am getting more angry the more I think about it: "I'm double posting here; but still this is one last point I think: If Jagex really stands for "Just About The Gaming Experience" then think of the experience of everyone else. And then think about your own experience. You made the content. You gave the requirements because it was something you enjoyed. How does it feel to see you having to change your work just to cave into the whingers? How does it feel that something you've worked on for months goes to dust because someone doesn't like it? You aren't about the gaming experience. If you were then you'd stick true to your convictions and your experiences. The fact is that if you kept this piece of content you'd listen to more of the whingers with their empty threats to quit and to you that's cash. £3 for members by card up to £6 for members by text. That's £30 for every 10 people that threaten..... That is business talk and business decisions Jagex. When MMG came up, I believed him. I truly did. You have destroyed my trust in you, and probably alot of other players trust. I doubt you'll even bother to reply to this post and even try to work back for a scrap of honour, dignity or trust." 1230abcz
Bull [cabbage]. My level 80+ cousin got fire cape on his 15th something try, and he's 9. Absolute bull [cabbage]. If people can't give it a try and go for it, then there's no point. Jagex is changing the requirement because why? Some group of slayers (I'd bet money it's less than 5%, which is an idiotically small group to cater to) can't get off their skiller [wagon] and play an RPG? Their excuses are filled with so many fallacies, it makes Glenn Beck look tame. Not a twitch gamer? Then go to Jad 10+ times, and you'll be wiping your [wagon] with his fire cape drops. Can't twitch game because of your supposed reflex condition? Lulz at you. If you can drive and not die in a car crash every other day, you can kill Jad. Driving takes many more reflexes than Jad. All you need for Jad is a decent connection speed and some good hand-eye coordination. So many people that I thought were smart are turning out to be complete morons. I wont mention names, but they're complete idiots. People whine when PKers get "special" treatment, but now that the tables have turned, all these people can do is cry about not being able to access *elite* content. Suck it and become elite for once. And no, grinding a kill that trains 30k exp/hour is not elite. Some people can't grind because they don't have enough hours during the day to play Runescape, but then why isn't the slayer requirement being dropped? I really hope Jagex doesn't change this requirement. For once, I hope they don't cave into pressure from the idiots.
