  1. So, do rocks show up in your inventory for most skills? Or are they all like construsction and appear on the ground? Because I have to study and cbb to stare at the screen the whole time. Oh, does anyone know if it makes a sound?
  2. That's the last thing he needs to do. What people fail to realize is that by acting like a jerk, you aren't helping anything. What needs to be done is to talk it out respectfuly. Sure, jagex's system doesn't really allow dirrect talks like that, but what you can do is take the time to write a well thought out appeal which states your case in a mature way. By 'raging' all you succeed in doing is alienating yourself even more. Sure, companies send you wine and flowers to make you happy, but they are just doing it to get you off their backs. That solves nothing, it just puts a little bandaid over the gash and assumes that it will all be okay. I have to get to class and might update this later, we'll see the responses I get. Someone will probably just rage
  3. That Jagex-auto-response-bot don't care about attitude. It's been said so many times in the past, I didn't know anyone still believed this. Jagex Mods read every appeal that they get. But due to the sheer volume of appeals, they can't take the time to write up a 200 word desription of why you're banned. So they use premade templates that they copy-paste onto the appeal and change it slightly if needed.
  4. Thats pretty much what people are thinking. The fact that they kinda hint towards an update along with server changes makes me think it's CC or FL related. As said by someone earlier, I seem to remember when we got CC's there had to be server changes. This coupled with the Twitter referencing talking with friends pretty much solidifies it IMO. I bolded what I think proves that there is somehting coming out today, not just server maintenance. Plus, why take down the game for maintenance when you could just do it the next time you reboot the game. This seems to be what Jagex is aiming for.
  5. So appearantly some people are misinformed here. The bug pertained to ALL bolts. It involved tricking the game into enchanting 1 bolts into the full 10 (or is it 12 per?). While it could be done on any bolt, the majority of people went straight to dragon bolts because they had a high GE value of ~7k and the parts used to make them were easily attainable in the GE. These soon became unsellable and were used in junk trades redistributing wealth fairly significantly. Even though you could alch them, they give 525 gp per alch. Thus with a nature rune leaving the game and a previously nonexistsnt bolt leaving as well. Only 200 GP worth of wealth is entering the game. The issue lies with the people who chose to dupe onyx bolts. Because these bolts already had a GE values near their alch value. Players who duped them were able to alch the bolts for nearly the same value as the GE price. This kept the onyx bolt dupe low key even though people knew that it was happening with dragon. By alching the onyx bolts, players gained 9k from one nature and a previously nonexistant bolt. This brought massive ammounts of GP into the game. Perhaps not as far as being on par with PvP tricking, but a significant amount nonetheless.
  6. The updates would come out on the same day now as they would have without the glitch. They're not the same departments. As far as I know, the updates would be in Quality Assurance right now while the people working on the bans is the Investigations into the Community Team. Even though there may have been some talk between them as to how to find the abusers, the programers wouldn't have done too much in this other then fix the bug which was done quite soon after they caught wind of it.
  7. For whatever reason you fail to understand that real life ≠ a game. It's as if you're losing touch with reality. I suggest you take a break from RS and spend some time with family and friends, get your priorities straight. I'll say it again, cheating in a game is not morally wrong. It's a game, anything goes. You play it to have fun, nothing else. The part that you quoted was an example I used was in reference to dicipline. Please refer to the second part of the post as to my Real life vs Runescape view. So long as Runescape is a Massive multiPLAYER online game, it is to be expected that you conduct yourself in a maner that is at least a little bit respectful of others. If you want to exploit a glitch, do it in a single player game where if does not directly effect other people. And if the person that found this bug had reported it and not told any player. It would have taken one person a few minutes to fix. Yet they went out of their way to abuse it and mess up the game. And now Jagex has to fix the mess the players made. I say they SUE! I'm kidding of course, but either way, they break a rule, they get banned.
  8. Yea, sadly I joined the game in it's "glory days" (modern runescape, but still a decent community) and I have seen the community die. People no longer care about others, or just hanging arround and chilling with random strangers talking about nothing in particular. It's all about "how can I make the most money. How can I get the fastest exp. How can I get the drops (crashing)". I agree that people get adrenaline rushes from doing things like that, and that is what makes me so mad, that people do this for a sense of personal, short term euphoria. It's like people who steal and vandise in real life. The city I live in now for school has a history of 'Chronic Vandals', (most of them being youth 16-21) who do things like this for fun. They know they're hurting others but somehow their mind has twisted just enough that they seem okay with causing others harm for a simple nights worth of pleasure. They know what they're doing is wrong, but they know that the system will be easy on them. A huge issue was in the news paper recently about how far the system should go when dealing with this type of blatant disregard for others property and wellbeing. As of now, all the system does is gives them a slap on the wrist and sends them back to do more. Some times you just have to say "enough is enough" and take things to the extreme in order to show these offenders that what they're doing is not right and you are willing to fight them. Like it or not, when you are interacting with characters in the game you are interacting with real people. How you treat other people is a large part of morals. If you think that just because you're behind a screen you can lose all sence of right and wrong (albeit some right and wrong changes ingame ie: PvP) then do you really have morals in real life? Or are you just puting on a facade in fear of the consequences? Whether you are talking to flesh and bones, pixils on a screen, or even an Avatar on Pandora, you are actually interacting with the person, the soul, behind the physical face and you should treat them with as much respect as they deserve.
  9. http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?rs2item_id=6134 It's a quest related item from Desert Treasure.
  10. Jagex used the 'name and shame' when they banned the first macros. But ever since, they seem to only mention total levels and play time. With society these days, I only see these people becoming 'idols' for the noobs who think that this sort of thing is somehow funny or cool. I think that just showing the fact that Jagex does not disclude you based on levels on time ingame is enough to deter some potential rule breakers. And to the people who say they would abuse the bug if they had known about it: you people sicken me. The fact that you would knowingly exploit an accidental fault in Jagex's system for your own gain shows a real flaw in your self dicipline and morals. You know that abusing the bug will affect the game as a whole and yet you put yourself above others, and that is the definition of selfish. But hey, that's just my thoughts. Appearantly I'm part of a dying breed that actually cares about others.....
  11. I don't think these perm bans will be very short. My rl friend got a 1 year ban for macroing for 23 minutes (macro had a timer on it). So Jagex is pretty serious when it comes to banning. I'm just happy jagex is starting to clean the scum from the pond.
  12. The Runescape main page, down at the bottom in the Developers Blogs, the second one down, called "Save the Date" Or you could look in the General discussion thread here on TIF and you'll find it. As for the ppots 1) People are holding off on making pots until the weekend so few are made 2) Plenty of people are planning on doing things like chinning for insane exp so that took a lot out of the economy 3) People saw they rose, so jumped on the bandwagon. People are pretty much buying anything they can get their hands on that in theory should rise. If you wait until after the exp weekend, you will be able to get ppots for fairly cheap because everyone will make pots, and dump them all in the GE at once. That combined with merchants dumping their stock, I anticipate them crashing farther then they were at before just because of the sheer amount coming into the GE at once.
  13. I know I googled it ;) Mirriam Webster says this: 1 : a luncheon or supper buffet offering a variety of foods and dishes (as hors d'oeuvres, hot and cold meats, smoked and pickled fish, cheeses, salads, and relishes) 2 : an often large heterogeneous mixture So, Jagex could mean that we are getting new foods, or that we'll get a wide range of different updates. Definition 2: implies that they won't be the same, so, along with the CC updates (pretty much confirmed by how easy the hint was), we might get a totally different update along with it.
  14. I blame this thread! But seriously, it's true. Throught things like the GE Beta charts and constant talk about the economy, people are becoming very well educated about the economy whether they are merchants or not. It used to be that only the 'real merchants' knew how to decipher the market and know when was a good time to buy. Now, if you go to somewhere like youtube, there are 123413 videos that say exactly how to merchant in under 3 minutes length. And with more GP in the game, there are more people who want to be merchants. So instead of nice fluid sinusoidal graphs where incoming resources were balanced nicely with used resources as merchants as a low impact middle man, you have millions of people all wanting to merchant 'the best items'. So if an item seems lower then it should be, mass number of investers buy it and end up working as a manipulation clan and send it skyrocketing. Then when it gets high, they all sell at once crashing the item. Instead of having a nice ~~~~ shape, the graphs seems to all be ^^^^^^.
  15. Probably a dumb question but what's a ban list? And are we talking about this week's update or next week? Ban list refers to Clan Chats, and most often would be used where the owner is not always present. As of now, when generals kick a user the kick only lasts one hour which only delays the person from spamming etc. A ban list would be where a ranked player can essentially add a player to the owners 'ignore list' to keep them out perminantly. So anyone can keep a disruptive player out of the clan chat indefinitly. Since this Twitter came out today (?) it is most likely going to be the update that happens in 1-2 days. Unless of course they find a huge bug in it, but if it's simply CC related, there aren't nearly as many permutations to check as say....enchanting bolts....(yes, I went there).
  16. Sounds to me like this means F2P. If so, there are a couple options: New skill - not until after the exp weekend Elite Diary - maybe, F2P should get Lumby but it isn't confirmed New boss monsters - could be CC / FL update - very likely I've probably missed some known F2P future updates, but meh.... The fact that they said 'huge number' makes me think the last 2 on my list will be for sure, then maybe a small thing just for members to make the elitists happy.
  17. A LOT of the people I've talked to ingame were convinced that it stacked with altars until I told them to reread the post. It seems to me that people are just getting caught up in the exitment and not reading the entire post. And with the number of players who don't have a community like Tipit, there are a lot of players who don't know many of the details. I even talked to a poor fellow who thought that it was 3x exp through the entire weekend. :wall: I'm going to just continue on my goals as per usual (all 70+) which I set when I got members. I'll start with checking the health of the 2 yews I have already planted which I was planning on checking today. That's 70 farming. Next up, use my charms to get 67-70 summ. Then I'll mix the last ppots from 68-70 herby (again, was going to get this today). Then probably just agility because I find it the most boring skill and any time saved from it is worth it. So overall, I'm not setting any new goals or doing anything unusual, but I'm just shifting them arround to save me money and time. I'll probably end up slaying for the next couple weeks gaining some charms.
  18. Couldn't you prepare the bonemeal and slime ahead of time for this, though? And thus get massive prayer exp bonuses? Correct me if I am wrong, but I think it only counts for burried bones. You're right. ONLY burying bones gives bonus exp. As for the economy. My initial thoughts were that the prices would rise, then crash to below where they are now because less raw materials are needed to hit people's goals. But now I see that hoarders are going to have a field day. After the prices 'settle down' after the weekend, people are going to stock up on raw materials in hopes that another exp weekend comes soon.
  19. Looks like it could be some great fun. I've seen pics of past Jagex trips and people seem to enjoy themselves. I think I would spend the entire time just trying to get people to say "Jolly good chap" and "how about some tea and crumpets?". Oh, how I would explain this to people I know is beyond me. My parents and brother know I play, and one RL friend who played (just got banned for 1 year for macroing 23 minutes...pwnt). Facebook: [insert my name here] is flying off to England for the week! [friend comments] Oh, why? [me] I won the trip from a game company [friend] Oh, what game? [me] Runescape [friend] lul *number of friends drops from 300 to 12* But meh, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it  As for the person who can't fly, come to Canada, hop on AirCanada direct to England. Getting into Canada is simple. Border guards rarely even ID me (it is a very rural border though). I guess the problem still remains on how to get back into the USA....
  20. Someone had a thread on the RSOF and these were the auto wins: Ammy = 150 Pawya meat Top = 250 Pawya meat Legs = 250 Pawya meat Crown = 1500 Pawya meat There was another thread with a person selling selling Shirt for 600-700 wergali (unf). Both threads had people in negotiations over prices so I don`t know what the exact price is, but I`d assume since they`re Auto wins thats the max you`de have to pay.
  21. I'm not sure if you're trying to link the graph to the joke about inflation, but the CTI does not necessarily represent inflation or the value of your money/gold; it just means more items/wealth are/is changing hands. Also, this might be pedantic, but Runescape would be considered to have galloping inflation rather than hyperinflation. I put the chart in because people were wondering how this would effect the economy. Since no one can accuratly predict what will happen, I figured I would provide before and after shots and compare them to peoples' predictions. I read all of the info on the CTI page as well as the discussion page and found no evidence that it's based on trade volumes. All of the discussions that I saw were about prices. If I am mistaken, please provide proof so that I don't keep going on blindly in the wrong direction. Yes, I know that CTI doesn't reflect the value of GP but as far as I know it does reflect the vlaue of items. Since GP has a static value of 1 any perceived change in value would have to come from other items changing in relation to that base value of GP. And, I am no economist so I don't know the exact definition of galloping vs hyper - inflation. I just have used that term since we saw inflation go from 1-2% per month for quite a while to 10-20% durring the summer. I think that 'hyperinflation' is a nice, simple to understand substitute for 'inflation that is well beyond the natural and healthy inflation'. And with the emount of economy noobs here (myself included) a simple to understand term is much more helpfull then big economist lingo.
  22. Chart taken from Runewiki. It's their version of the stock exchange index. It started at an arbitrary 100 when the GE came out (at least I think it was that soon). I'll post the chart again in 3 weeks and we'll see where we're at. The chart takes things like logs, ores, bars, fish etc. into account. It doesn't do herbs or planks or others like that. Mod MMG: Congrats guys, we finally slowed hyperinflation with our 76king nerf! Mod Fnord: Hey, why don't we do something else to mess around with the economy?
  23. My thoughts are that people with rares will trade them for raw materials directly because a lot of things are bought out already and I can't really see them crashing much because (nearly) ALL members will do some sort of skilling that weekend so they need to buy the raw materials. But what I see coming is when the lower rares crash, more will be in the hands of newbie merchers who got them from trades. More newbs = less hoarders = more people who panic sell in the crash. So when the crash somes more people will panic sell and the fall will be more then it 'would have been'. Granted, there is too much GP in the game for them to fall past....say...40M, but they'll take a hit.
  24. I think Jagex's thoughts in this are that people will get their goals on expensive skills first, then forget about the skill. Then, when the event is over and the hoarders dump their stockpiles, there will be less people training those skills thus lower prices. At least I hope that's it...or maybe Jagex is doing this as a guise to start sneaking items into the GE making new supply. Under a buyout it wouldn't be as easy to tell that there is abnormal amounts of items coming in. I was planning on keeping all my herbs from MTK until I left P2P in a month, but looks like I'll be dumping them all into the GE durring that weekend. OH! Someone should look at the trade volumes for the past 30 days now, record them, then compare them in another 30 days after the event is over and hoarders have dumped.
  25. Ugghh....no charms left, almost done my herby goal. So many things I could have saved for this. I don't know how I feel about this. People will obviously nolife to take advantage of this. So many thoughts right now I can't even think (probably too early). I'll edit this later. Raw item prices are going to go balistic. If this is Jagex's way of trying to fix the economy.....arggghhh!
